00:00:08.580 it relates to the aid needed for Ukraine and the like. Then Speaker Johnson on Monday goes down.
00:00:14.160 He spends the day on President's Day with a former president, Donald Trump, at Mar-a-Lago. And
00:00:19.040 President Biden cracks the door open to a possible sit down with Johnson, saying if he has anything
00:00:25.240 to say. So what gives and what's the likelihood these two finally sit down together and discuss?
00:00:30.820 That's a great question, Peter. And I'll note, as you know well, that Speaker Johnson did meet with
00:00:35.320 the president back in January when they had the whole host of 22 key congressional leaders around
00:00:41.200 the table with Biden to figure out just that, a path forward on Ukraine, a path forward on securing
00:00:47.040 the border. Since then, a lot has blown up, of course. But in the moments after President Biden
00:00:51.660 floated that he'd be open to this meeting yesterday, we did hear from Speaker Johnson's
00:00:56.320 spokesperson who posted on X in part saying they welcome the president's reversal and openness to
00:01:01.640 meeting with Speaker Johnson. I'm told that that is the very latest. I checked in a couple of minutes
00:01:06.600 ago. There has been no movement on such a meeting one on one between the president, between Speaker
00:01:11.420 Johnson. But certainly the clock is ticking, Peter, as you noted. And this isn't the first time that
00:01:15.940 Johnson had requested a one on one meeting. In fact, last week, when we first broke the news that
00:01:20.260 Johnson wanted this to even move forward, not only on that Senate passed supplemental aid package,
00:01:25.160 but on any aid to Ukraine, any aid to Israel and potentially border security provisions that he
00:01:31.360 had asked President Biden. He had asked via his chief of staff as well several times, including most
00:01:36.500 recently a week ago for this one on one meeting, which, of course, has not happened. But perhaps
00:01:41.400 Biden is open to it. No mistake. The world is watching and it is judging. CNN is reporting that,
00:01:47.540 quote, Speaker Mike Johnson is facing international criticism over his lack of swift action on
00:01:52.480 Ukraine aid, which is ratcheting up pressure to make a critical decision that will not only have
00:01:57.600 massive implications for his rookie speakership, but also for Ukraine's ongoing war effort against
00:02:02.740 Russia. Worth remembering that Johnson was only been on the job for months and lacks experience on
00:02:08.680 the international stage. So far, Johnson has resisted calls to bring a Senate pass aid package up for a
00:02:14.540 quick vote, a move that would require Democratic support and almost certainly spark a revolt from
00:02:19.800 his right flank to say nothing of Donald Trump, who has injected himself into the debate, urging
00:02:25.660 Republicans to oppose Ukraine funding. Privately, Johnson told Republicans during a closed door meeting
00:02:31.280 last week, there is, quote, no rush to address the issue of Congress since having left town for a nearly
00:02:37.080 two week recess. No rush. I think our neighbors and allies around the world would beg to differ,
00:02:43.260 Mr. Speaker. This is much bigger than Ukraine. What do you think of when you hear that?
00:02:50.660 That we are walking into an international disaster. I mean, it's easy to get distracted by the
00:02:56.280 dysfunctional buffoonery of this fifth string speaker and the Republican Party in the House,
00:03:01.260 but there are real world consequences that are measured now in lost lives and in the possibility of
00:03:06.700 an international catastrophe. Unfortunately, there's no known antidote for what you described as the
00:03:12.340 sycophantic stupor that House GOP members find themselves in. As long as Donald Trump is issuing
00:03:18.860 his orders to Mike Johnson and Mike Johnson knows that his speakership hangs by a thread. It seems
00:03:25.560 almost naive to expect any profiling courage or any sort of leadership despite, you know, the

00:03:37.460 Conference that we are, quote, scaring the daylights out of our allies. We are left in a very precarious
00:03:45.660 place. Yeah, well, I mean, Donald Trump is is not just a defender of Putin. He has actively worked to
00:03:56.080 support Putin for the past four or five years, whether it was inviting Putin's foreign minister into the Oval
00:04:02.220 office and handing over classified information at that time, whether it was in Helsinki saying that
00:04:08.580 he believed Putin ahead of the U.S. intelligence community, whether it was his decision toward the
00:04:15.800 end of his presidency to try to get U.S. troops to pull out of Germany, only stopped by his then
00:04:23.240 secretary of defense, who then said, well, OK, we'll take them out of Germany and we'll put them into
00:04:28.000 Poland. But now Trump has plans to put around him a group of loyalists and that group of loyalists
00:04:35.480 will allow him to do whatever he wants. And rest assured, the first thing on the international agenda
00:04:41.840 is going to be pulling out of NATO, shutting it down, weakening the U.S., putting our allies at risk,
00:04:49.400 putting the world at risk of World War Three. This is not trivial stuff. It is shocking. This is a guy
00:04:56.200 who stole U.S. nuclear secrets. And yet the Republican Party is cowering like little bunny
00:05:03.460 rabbits in a corner, afraid of this guy who is such a threat. If they would stand up to anything,
00:05:10.460 anything at all, it would be a guy like this who puts the United States at risk and who really
00:05:16.260 threatens to end what we've known as the American century. A few words. You have these freaks,
00:05:23.140 weirdos, insurrectionists, radicals on the far, far right. They're not even the right now. They're

00:07:15.480 finally doesn't want to be humiliated as a former governor and lose by, I don't know, 30 points.

00:08:12.180 the departments of DHS, you take from the departments of energy and other things, things
00:08:19.040 are really national security, you're quickly over, rapidly over a trillion dollars. Now, that rests on
00:08:27.280 the taxpayers and future generations. This is one of the reasons we have a $2 trillion.

00:09:54.420 ditched a secret treaty in a second. But he also thought we were essentially too cowardly. He didn't

00:10:05.000 misjudged the cussedness and grit of the American people. And we made Germany first. Although the

00:13:15.120 in Europe don't like it. I don't care if they realize they're going to go have tough discussions
