00:34:43.800 who was an American. It was the Bank for International Settlements involved Switzerland. So here you had an

00:34:48.520 international bank in Switzerland run by an American brokering the Nazi gold. So we did business with 0.94

00:34:54.360 them. Forget about, you know, doing, doing what we're doing to, to Russia right now. And Steve,

00:35:00.360 in this act, this repo act, which you talked about, stealing the assets is bad enough. And we can talk

00:35:05.560 about the implications of that. But there are two anti-Trump landmines buried in the statute that

00:35:12.840 whoever wrote it knew what they were doing, but I haven't seen any reporting on it. One is section 103.

00:35:17.560 It says, this freeze, this confiscation will stay in place until the president certifies two things.

00:35:25.400 Number one, an end to hostilities. Well, that's never going to happen because they'll say,

00:35:29.960 unless you leave Ukraine, or sorry, unless you leave Crimea, the hostilities are still going on.

00:35:34.840 But the second one is that Russia has visibly and demonstrably paid for all the damage in Ukraine.

00:35:40.360 Well, that's not going to happen either, because since when does the winner pay reparations? It's

00:35:45.000 the loser who pays reparations. They've got that backwards as well. So the point is no president,

00:35:49.560 including President Trump, if he wins a second term, can offer that certification, which means that the

00:35:55.080 freeze activity never goes away. There's another provision, section 104. This I found fascinating.

00:36:01.160 It says the confiscation power that we're talking about has a five-year sunset. Now,

00:36:06.280 it's not unusual to have sunset provisions, one year, three years, because Congress likes to revisit

00:36:11.400 these things. Why five years? It goes to April 2029, which is after the Trump administration. So

00:36:20.600 they have tied Trump's hands. Let's say Trump wins in November. He'll be out in January 2029.

00:36:27.320 This thing doesn't expire till April 2029. It's engineered in such a way that Trump can't do

00:36:32.200 anything about it during his entire term. And by the way, there's a lot of this going on.

00:36:35.960 Everyone talks about the transition. Obviously, Trump probably bungled the transition in 2016.

00:36:41.480 There's a lot of effort underway, Heritage and others and yourself to make sure they do a much

00:36:46.120 better job, get the plumb book out, get the 3,000 top jobs. That's underway. But the elites in the

00:36:51.720 Davos crowd, they're looking ahead. They see that Trump could very well win. So they're not waiting

00:36:56.680 until he wins to start sabotaging. They're sabotaging him right now. So Jan Stoltenberg is the

00:37:02.600 general secretary of NATO. He's proposed a five-year, $100 billion fund to keep funding the war

00:37:09.800 in Ukraine. Why five years? Once again, the five years is the magic number because it goes beyond 0.53

00:37:14.840 the end of the second Trump administration. So he wants $100 billion fund. He wants weapons

00:37:20.360 moved from US control to NATO control. So now even if Trump's the commander in chief, he's not the

00:37:26.440 commander in chief of NATO. He's the commander in chief of the US military. So they want the weapons

00:37:31.000 put in a NATO bucket. They want $100 billion that goes for five years. This repo act we just talked

00:37:36.600 about, the sunset provision is five years. They see that Trump could very well win and they're setting

00:37:42.280 up all these landmines that last for five years so that even if he's president, he can't do anything

00:37:47.640 about it. Now, here's my question. Mike McCall, who's the chairman, this bill was written in the

00:37:53.160 House. I mean, there was a version of it in the Senate that came over. The House controlled this,

00:37:57.400 leaving aside the fact that Mike Johnson could have just said, we're not voting on it. He didn't do

00:38:01.560 that, clearly. But this bill was written by Republicans because they control the committees,

00:38:06.840 they control the drafting, et cetera. So the Republicans, or at least a large subset of them,

00:38:11.960 are out to sabotage Trump. And this is the kind of thing, sorry to be a lawyer about this,

00:38:16.280 but I am and I read these things very closely. These things are what I call Trump landmines.

00:38:21.240 The Davos crowd, the elites and the rhinos in Congress, the Republicans and certainly the

00:38:26.840 Democrats, they're out to Trump-proof the world. In other words, rig the game today,

00:38:32.520 not next January, but today, so that Trump's hands are tied before he's even sworn in.

00:38:40.760 This is one of the reasons, by the way, this is why we're so proud of having Jim Rickards

00:39:11.000 had a one-year sunset. A lot you could have done. This is Trump-proofing against the fact that Trump

00:39:17.000 might win. They will tie his hands in advance. Jim, in addition to Trump-proofing,

00:39:24.520 you're the expert. You wrote Currency Wars. You teach courses on economic warfare and financial warfare.

00:39:30.920 You're probably the smartest guy around to tie in geopolitics with capital markets.

00:39:36.440 This REPO Act, how dangerous it is for the whole architecture of the post-war international rules-based

00:39:44.440 order, which we're opposed to because it doesn't put America's interests first. But as a subset of that,

00:39:50.680 based upon Bretton Woods, and like I said, you just can't pull the plug on that immediately.

00:40:29.800 president signed it today. But at the margin, if you're a country with a large surplus and you've

00:40:34.440 got to decide where to put your money, you're going to fade treasury bills and get into gold.

00:40:39.720 Again, not being a gold bug. I'm just saying gold is something you can't freeze. It's physical.

00:40:43.960 You put it away. You can't touch it. This is going to give a significant boost to the BRICS. I call it

00:40:49.480 BRICS Plus because they've got new members. The BRICS effort to introduce a new – start out as a

00:40:54.920 trading currency and then in time become a reserve currency, alternative to the dollar. Again,

00:40:59.880 it doesn't mean the dollar disappears, but it's going to have very strong competition. This is

00:41:03.960 playing out over a couple of years. The third one, and this is much more immediate, if the US goes ahead

00:41:10.200 and steals these assets. The US only has their hands on about $10 billion. Most of it's in Europe,

00:41:16.360 but $290 billion in Europe, $10 billion in the US. But there are members of Congress saying,

00:41:20.520 steal the $10 billion now. Don't wait for the Europeans to come along. If they do – sorry, 1.00

00:41:25.640 this is all being set up, by the way, for the G7 conference. The G7 conference is on June 13th.

00:41:34.040 Okay, so Yellen and Biden want to get this done and Blinken want to get this done before the G7

00:41:41.160 conference, because there's another fund called the Common Ukraine Fund. The US is just sort of

00:41:45.880 saying, well, we'll take the $10 billion and put it in this fund. But there's a bigger fund,

00:41:49.160 the Common Ukraine Fund. We want the $290 billion in that fund. You, the Europeans, have to steal from 1.00

00:41:55.800 Euroclear, which is the biggest clearing firm in Europe. They have the $200 billion. That's the big prize

00:42:02.360 right there. They're going to steal from Euroclear. Now, if this goes forward, and it is as of now,

00:42:08.440 Russia is going to seize the assets, Western assets in Russia. So BP, Siemens, Total Oil in France,

00:42:17.320 major European countries have huge energy, infrastructure, mining, technology, communications

00:42:23.320 investments in Russia. Putin's going to steal those. My estimate is Putin's going to make a profit on this.

00:42:28.600 They'll take his $300 billion in treasury securities, but he'll take a far larger amount

00:42:33.240 of infrastructure and other technology, et cetera, in Russia that they haven't touched so far. It's

00:42:48.840 by 78 banks, but the Europeans will be able to put pressure on the banks to steal the assets. Well,

00:42:53.800 Euroclear has offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Beijing, and Dubai. All Russia has 0.85

00:43:01.560 to do is go into any one of those jurisdictions and sue Euroclear for $200 billion because they'll

00:43:08.200 have jurisdiction because they have offices there. You could throw the entire global clearance and

00:43:12.680 financial system into chaos because what's Euroclear going to do? Those juries and courts and judges will

00:43:19.400 be much more sympathetic to Russia. You don't go sue in New York, go sue in Hong Kong, which is part of

00:43:25.000 communist China. So the point being that Russia will sue Euroclear for the damages and throw the

00:43:32.040 system into turmoil. And finally, this is to me the best irony, is that while the West has been talking

00:43:39.720 about this, what's been happening to the price of gold? It's up $600 an ounce. Russia has 3,000 tons.

00:43:46.120 Russia has made a $50 billion profit on the price of gold without lifting a finger because the West

00:43:53.080 is so threatening. Everyone's like, get me to gold. Jim, hang on for one second. We're just going to
