Stephen K. Bannon joins me on the show to talk about the latest in the trade war between the United States and China and why it's so important to remember that the Chinese Communist Party does not care about fair business, they only care about enriching the Communist Party.

00:05:39.280But we have an intellectual property deficit, I think, of 25 trillion dollars, which is the accumulation of the 300 billion to 600 billion a year.
00:05:46.880And that's just not simply from industrial espionage.
00:05:49.940That is because Wall Street and the corporations have basically been kowtowed that if you want to have anything to do with mainland China, you have to put it into a joint venture.
00:05:59.780Your joint venture partner is the Chinese Communist Party.
00:06:02.800And one of the things you have to do is like almost a license deal to the joint venture where all your intellectual property goes in and they just steal it right there and reverse engineer it.
00:07:19.880I mean, they're creating, well, not creating, they're stealing a lot of technology and they're building upon that, right?
00:07:25.900So what China has done is they've leapfrogged about two centuries in the last 40 years.
00:07:30.340And this was done through stealing technology and, like you said, Steve, forcing American companies with the promise of accessing these Chinese markets to go into joint ventures with Chinese companies.
00:07:42.140And, you know, what happens is the American company comes in, they bring in their technology, they bring in people to train the Chinese people on how to do these.
00:07:50.420And my great-grandfather actually did this.
00:07:52.600He was an aircraft engineer and he was one of the people who went into China and was teaching the Chinese how to build aircrafts.
00:07:59.480And, of course, what happened is China reneged on their end of the bargain.
00:08:03.720After they learned how to build the products, they didn't allow American companies to access the Chinese markets.
00:08:09.080Instead, they stonewalled them out and they came out with copycat products.
00:08:12.700And now they're competing with Americans and European companies all throughout the world.
00:08:39.080We only got a couple, we got about four or five minutes.
00:08:41.300I want to make sure we, where we stand right now in President Trump's strategy, although hindered by the courts, what do you see as the path forward?
00:08:52.060And what would be your recommendations if you were sitting in the Oval on a Saturday morning talking to the president about this, sir?
00:09:00.520Well, I would, I would, I would certainly encourage a president to stand strong on tariffs.
00:09:27.940In my view, in my view, President Trump is well within his legal authority.
00:09:32.660He's been delegated the authority by Congress to impose tariffs in response to national emergencies or in response to unfair trading practices.
00:09:41.080I think he's well within the bounds of the law.
00:09:43.000But ultimately, what we have to do is Congress has to pass a bill.
00:09:47.140Congress has to pass a comprehensive trade bill that raises the tariffs and makes them high so that American investors and even foreign investors can invest and build capital in America with the knowledge that their investment is going to be protected.
00:10:03.560And then on top of that, there's a whole bunch of other things that need to be done.
00:10:07.140We have to focus on vocational training for workers.
00:10:09.940We need to focus on lowering the cost of energy by, you know, allowing us to build coal plants, to invest in new oil pipelines.
00:10:20.360The cost of raw materials and rare earth minerals needs to come down, which, you know, in addition to drill baby drill, we've got to mine baby mine.
00:10:28.940If we can do that, then we can start to compete on China on a cost basis.
00:10:32.480But we say this, it gets back to the Thucydides trap.
00:10:36.940And when I asked Graham Allison, which is you have the elites making more money than ever with America in decline in their theory and China on the rise.
00:10:48.220How do you how does President Trump pull this off when his biggest opponent here is not even the Chinese?
00:10:55.060His biggest opponent is the Lords of Easy Money on Wall Street that paid for and shipped all the jobs over and the global corporations, which don't mind paying Lao Bajing a buck a month.
00:11:20.780A Thucydides trap, in my opinion, is when two powers, you know, you have a rising power and you have another, the older power, and they're locked into combat conflict.
00:11:29.460That's inevitable because they have overlapping resource requirements.
00:11:35.220America could be entirely self-sufficient.
00:11:37.540We can make everything that's needed to be made in America.
00:11:39.940All of the natural resources can be procured and mined in America.
00:11:43.760There's really no reason to actually be dealing with China other than, like you said, the fact that people are making easy money on Wall Street by, you know, arbitrage between the price of labor in China and America.
00:11:54.700And then, of course, the balance of payments, the trade deficit, all that money, it comes back and it's plugged into buying stocks and real estate and bonds, right?
00:12:03.760The trade deficit creates an equal demand for American currency on their other side.
00:12:07.640So we have a trade deficit of $1.2 trillion.
00:12:10.620All that money comes back to Wall Street.
00:12:12.500And these are the guys who are funding the lawfare.
00:12:14.760So what President Trump really needs to do is he needs to focus on bringing this back to the people.
00:12:19.340And the people, we have to get involved at the local level and push for America First candidates to actually start getting these things through Congress.
00:12:29.140Because the ultimate question is not whether President Trump can solve this as one man because he can't.
00:12:36.520This needs to be this needs to be a movement from the bottom up grassroots.
00:12:40.440Do you do you buy in the words trying to do that?
00:12:44.160Do you do you buy my thesis that ever since she and Putin were like playing footsies like teenagers in Moscow on the seventh and eighth that you've seen Moscow, Moscow much more reticent to bring to a conclusion or even a ceasefire?

00:13:03.460And that the Chinese Communist Party has basically told Besson, I don't know, you know, for somebody that had all their factories locked four weeks ago to now saying, hey, when we get back to you, we'll get back to you.
00:13:15.680Is that because Russia and China are more welded at the hip than ever, sir?
00:13:19.480Oh, I think Russia and China are certainly in bed together.
00:13:25.200I mean, the trade volumes between the two nations have been growing significantly year after year after year.
00:13:30.780You know, and a big part of that is because America's trade policies have been incompetent.
00:20:59.220But when their goal is to kill you, you cannot allow that to happen.
00:21:04.820Because when they stole the technology, they stole the money.
00:21:08.340They used that money to come back to the U.S. to infiltrate the U.S. and control the media, control the technology.

00:25:12.000But right now, if you look around the 193 nations around the world, okay, under the UN, there's an emerging red nation, which means the communists have already successfully established a foothold.
