00:37:49.620 So even if we get a few hundred thousand barrels of oil from Venezuela, then that allows us to
00:37:59.880 kind of leaven the loaf there at the refineries.
00:38:02.840 Gas prices, diesel prices come down.
00:38:06.160 The credit cards.
00:38:07.140 I mean, look, the mafia.
00:38:09.200 The mafia is envious of MasterCard and Visa for the amount of interest rates they can charge

00:39:31.240 historical trend, the reported number for the trade, although the trade deficit, we have
00:39:35.540 a trade deficit that's shrinking, right?
00:39:38.040 Because you've got exports up, imports down.
00:39:40.400 The Chinese Communist Party just announced a 2025 number, a $1 trillion trade surplus.
00:39:48.340 How does that fit in?
00:39:49.820 What does that mean as far as what you and President Trump and the administration are trying to
00:39:54.200 accomplish as far as setting things right?
00:39:58.040 Because until we get the trade deficit down dramatically, because I think the cumulative
00:40:03.680 is like a $22 trillion trade deficit.
00:40:06.960 Until we get that down, we're really not going to be the manufacturing superpower we should
00:40:11.680 be, sir.
00:40:13.260 Let me unpack this.
00:40:16.780 First of all, the annual trade deficit in goods has fallen from $300 billion in the last year
00:40:27.240 of Biden with China, which projected, when we get the final numbers in, to be about $240 billion.
00:40:34.660 That's significant.
00:40:36.260 And that's the kind of thing we're seeing with the trade report just a few days ago, where
00:40:42.560 we had our lowest trade deficit since 2009.
00:40:46.560 Now, the trillion dollars you mentioned, Steve, is with the rest of the world plus the United
00:40:52.440 States.
00:40:53.440 So we're roughly 25 percent of China's deficit that they hold with the world.
00:40:59.860 And what China has been doing as they've been facing our tariff wall is that they've been
00:41:06.640 dumping all of their goods around the rest of the world.
00:41:10.380 And they're basically destabilizing the international trade system.
00:41:15.140 And why that's good, ultimately, for us, and including the rest of the world there, is that
00:41:22.500 it is basically a call to action in Europe, in Mexico, in Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, to
00:41:31.500 basically adopt similar protections against China.
00:41:36.060 So this is a work in progress.
00:41:37.820 The one thing China should do, but won't do, is boost their consumption by boosting, by
00:41:48.040 reducing their savings rate, by giving the Lao Bajing health care and pension plans that
00:41:54.800 will give them some kind of assurance.
00:41:56.560 Steve, it's remarkable, remarkable that a communist country has some of the worst pension and health
00:42:04.540 care benefits around the world, okay?
00:42:07.860 It's like crazy stuff.
00:42:09.480 So you get, like, savings rates in excess of 50 percent for Chinese citizens, the Lao Bajing.
00:42:16.440 They don't buy any of our stuff or any stuff around the world.
00:42:20.720 And so China maintains its predatory model.
00:42:24.480 So these are the kinds of statistics which we're well aware of.
00:42:29.120 And ultimately, what President Trump is trying to do is defend our manufacturing base, our
00:42:34.900 supply chains, our defense industrial base, against the predation, not just of China, but
00:42:41.980 of much of the rest of the world, which cheats us.
00:42:44.580 By rule, Steve, by absolute WTO, World Trade Organization rule, the rest of the world can charge
00:42:51.840 us higher tariffs and higher non-tariff barriers and screw us in six different other ways.
