00:17:06.220 the minute men they fight the uh you know the 750 men the general gage sends to disarm the americans

00:17:14.520 take their cannon and gunpowder away at concord and then what happens is there's a siege around boston

00:17:21.900 and you know more than 10 000 patriots descend on boston and siege it and cut off land access to

00:17:31.040 boston and um it's at this point in the summer that a stalemate takes place and then it's on

00:17:38.600 june 14th 1775 where congress makes the extraordinary step of appointing a commander-in-chief that's general

00:17:47.060 george washington and then forms 10 rifle companies these are the the you know the greatest badasses

00:17:54.960 in america 10 you know these are men from the backwoods that can shoot and aim and put a you know

00:18:01.800 put a ball in somebody's head at 200 and 300 yards and uh they're coming from you know seven um

00:18:09.360 companies are coming from pennsylvania two are coming from virginia and one is coming from maryland

00:18:56.980 regulars and they're trying to you know basically improve their position around boston and take the

00:19:03.160 high ground and one of those positions is bunker hill because charleston overlooks the uh the city of

00:19:10.880 boston and from there they realize that the patriots can can take artillery and actually bombard boston

00:19:18.640 itself so on the 17th they plan to attack the patriots get word that that is going to happen and

00:19:25.940 they move in and start to fortify the high ground they build a redoubt and then they move in uh you know

00:19:33.440 nearly two thousand a little more than two thousand men to to hold off the british assault that takes

00:19:39.800 place um in the uh late in the morning of june 17th 1775 so talk to me about the 2000 because the

00:19:51.040 continent the newly formed continental army by the way would you what's the french term for war fever

00:20:55.240 but they they basically take their their cannonballs and place them in forges and then they fire upon

00:21:01.600 the the town of charleston which is at the the neck or before bunker hill and breeds hill and they fire

00:21:09.480 charleston so they they are afraid of marksmen or snipers that could be in the building so they

00:21:15.580 they torch that place um and then they they begin to land and it's how that you know says look this

00:21:23.980 thing is only a hundred and you know ten yards high this should be easy ground for trained regulars

00:21:30.280 to be able to disperse the rabble of the american or you know the american militia at the at the time

00:21:36.860 and it's henry clinton who's his subordinate commander who suggests that they cut off the neck

00:21:42.840 and and basically you know basically envelop the americans but he's overruled and they they plan

00:21:49.720 initially what looks like a frontal assault but but how is actually kind of planning to move towards

00:21:55.120 the right in the mystic river and then flank the americans and and attack um the redoubt that's on the
