Based Camp - America Is Heading For Civil War (So Says Chimp Research)

00:00:00.000 I can just put this graph of chimps next to a graph of the political parties drifting apart.

00:00:06.800 The interchange between these different cliques just ends.

00:00:10.580 And then you just basically see red and blue, just big old blocks of red and blue.

00:00:14.720 But I think a lot of it does have to do with a breakdown of communication between factions

00:00:18.740 and really starting to view the enemy as not human, as other.

00:00:23.420 Seeing this radicalization happen with like the Antony trial, right? 0.96

00:00:27.280 where the left is like it should be okay to kill white people of course you're right and it could

00:00:31.640 be that there was some kind of sickness that spread through in 2014 but a a bunch of these key

00:00:37.320 males specifically died so the bros yeah like the bros yeah who are just like look like

00:00:44.240 let's all hang out the sort of social virus that has infected the left is so terrified in fact the

00:00:51.260 thing it's terrified most of is the intermediary right would you like to know more hello malcolm

00:00:56.840 I'm excited to be speaking with you today because we're talking civil war.

00:01:01.200 What if Alt-Hist speaks of civil war?

00:01:03.120 You speak of civil war.

00:01:04.300 I don't see it.

00:01:05.120 I think people are lazy, or at least that's what I thought.

00:01:08.940 I thought that our, you know, in our modern world, developed society tumbling into civil 1.00

00:01:12.860 war just couldn't happen until I learned more about the chimp war that was trending in the

00:01:17.720 news just for like a moment this spring that I planned on doing an episode, totally forgot

00:01:22.480 to.

00:01:22.700 The research on this chimp war suggests that civil war existed before humanity was developed, and what the researchers found might reveal fundamental shifts in social dynamics that almost mechanically produce civil war when the dominoes fall in just the right way, so to speak.

00:01:39.480 so rather than being about civilizational things like religion and governance and political systems

00:01:45.380 or cultural identity civil war is actually the product of very subtle but crucial logistical

00:01:52.600 shifts in social clusters and in dominance hierarchies but crucially this research implies

00:01:58.500 that there are cultural and civilizational things that we could do to reduce our odds of hurtling

00:02:04.440 towards civil war wait do we want to reduce our odds of hurtling towards civil war look

00:02:09.360 i don't want my electricity to go out i need to be able to buy my doritos i guess it depends on

00:02:15.060 who's on top look i simone has been wanting to tell me about this chimp war all day yeah she's

00:02:21.040 gotten so excited about this idea why it was the first episode she wanted to record today she's

00:02:25.820 like we have to do i need to tell you so therefore she needs to tell you guys and she's now saying

00:02:31.480 that she thinks we might actually be heading towards civil war that maybe rubyard is right

00:02:37.340 is that what you're saying because rubyard predicts the american left and right headed

00:02:41.760 towards a civil war was in our country and you're saying rubyard no he's yep based on

00:02:48.540 the chimpanzee civil war and what i've observed of human behavior related to well we've also got

00:02:55.520 to keep in mind that there's a lot of actors out there that would like an american civil war

00:02:59.560 right it's worse than that it's because and this this is crucially what this research reveals it's

00:03:04.320 not necessarily about them and it's not about religion or culture it's about this other factor

00:03:09.900 that is extremely underrated that played a crucial war in the chimp war sorry a crucial role in the

00:03:15.100 chimp war and this this could be the linchpin this could be the thing that can trigger a war

00:03:22.680 because it is what triggered this war and i think it's super fascinating so you ready

00:03:27.560 you know what time it is yeah what time is it what time is it come on oh chimpanzee that it's

00:03:35.380 monkey news rick is that time again it's what everyone's waiting for can you do the jingle for

00:03:38.920 oh chimpanzee that monkey news oh you gotta do the monkey he's fighting

00:03:46.380 this

00:03:46.880 the vaguely racist clip that's enough

00:04:12.340 to trigger people it's just like

00:04:14.320 cavemen from the 1980s

00:04:16.380 oh my god i'm i'm super excited about this no and also a really big hat tip to gutsick gibbon

00:04:24.060 on youtube because she's the one who got me thinking about this and she does a lot of like

00:04:28.120 stuff about evolution and creationism but also covers the chip war so first off i had no idea

00:04:34.580 that people are really into studying chimpanzees and i should have realized that they were because

00:04:40.420 Jane Goodall exists and is a thing, but they have been studied at roughly 120 field localities

00:04:47.380 across 20 African countries. And it's this really involved process where they will spend months,

00:04:53.500 even years, just standing awkwardly around the chimpanzees to just get them accustomed to humans

00:05:00.760 being around and not meaning anything. And they also do what are called vocal follows,

00:05:06.200 where trained observers just follow one identified individual for extended periods of time,

00:05:13.000 writing detailed notes every 15 minutes for adults and every minute for mother-infant pairs,

00:05:19.200 talking about, well, what are they doing right now? What's the party composition? What are the

00:05:23.600 social dynamics? Where are they located? What are they eating? Like, they're just, I wonder how

00:05:30.180 these, I really want to, like, what do these chimpanzees think of these humans? This is bizarre.

00:05:34.080 And then they will get to know the chimpanzees, they'll know them like multiple generations of families. And then they'll also do more at arm's length analyses based on cameras that they have triggered to notice motion. And they'll even analyze their feces for shifts in their hormones. So they're like really into this.

00:05:58.220 and in the earlier days of Jane Goodall they were a lot I would say the research was really crappy

00:06:05.260 so actually this this war that I'm about to talk about is not the first chimpanzee war

00:06:10.440 the famous Jane Goodall observed the first chimpanzee war the Gumby chimpanzee war and did

00:06:16.980 she like play it down or something because she wanted people to like chimps it's worse than that

00:06:20.760 So this is a war that went from 1974 to 1978. And it's the first sort of famously documented

00:06:28.720 chimpanzee war that she was there for. And a lot of the people who criticized her, even her analysis

00:06:37.280 of this chimpanzee war was there like, no, she caused it because she was feeding these chimpanzees

00:06:44.140 food and that created crowding and extra competition which then when these these 0.60

00:06:51.220 chimpanzees encountered resource scarcity later both in the form of food and infertile females

00:06:56.100 it caused them to become extra aggressive so a lot of people were like well we can't even consider

00:07:00.720 this war seriously and take good data from it because she got too involved with these chimpanzees

00:07:05.240 yeah she she was she's feeding them and getting like way too emotionally invested and i'm sure

00:07:10.800 everyone gets emotionally invested in these chimpanzees but like yeah anyway i yeah so we

00:07:17.260 can't really like it wasn't the data wasn't great those subsequent research did reveal that indeed

00:07:22.180 there are conflicts and and and violent disagreements between chimpanzees so it's not

00:07:28.080 like it's all human caused it happens naturally even now with much better research it you know

00:07:33.640 people are much more removed and not getting involved with the chimpanzees it's still happening

00:07:37.360 and it certainly happened here but now they're much better at tracking how it's happening and

00:07:42.140 why it's happening so this this first this civil war happened in 2015 it began in the nagogo

00:07:52.260 community in uganda and this is one of the actually it is the largest known wild chimpanzee

00:07:58.740 community ever studied it is huge it has over 200 chimpanzees and it has been tracked and studied

00:08:05.420 for over 30 years so they have incredibly good data on these chimpanzees and like over multiple

00:08:12.080 generations and this war is kind of a big deal because the civil war started in 2015 and

00:08:21.040 apparently it's still ongoing so this is a very serious conflict and here's sort of how it played

00:08:28.200 out on June 24th in 2015 this is when the war started it has a whole lore members of the western

00:08:34.780 and central clusters of this community encountered each other. And instead of reuniting like they

00:08:40.220 normally used to, the Western chimps ran away from the central chimps and the central chimps

00:08:47.780 chased them. And then this was followed by this unprecedented six-week period of mutual avoidance

00:08:53.940 that escalated into controlled patrols and attacks in 2016. So sort of one year after they started

00:08:59.900 acting real weird around each other and avoiding each other they are

00:09:04.340 raiding each other this is typically hold on hold on so what used to happen before the avoidance

00:09:11.300 behavior when they would interact they just like hang out and start eating food and be cool around

00:09:17.360 each other they would not start attacking and killing each other so this is what you're saying

00:09:22.540 it relates to our society right now it's the avoidance of two social groups from interacting

00:09:28.320 with each other that spells and this is true the left and the right used to hang out together

00:09:33.500 they used to go to events together they used to be part of the same social circles uh same

00:09:38.180 companies and we're not seeing that anymore they've completely divided and i mean not to

00:09:42.760 not to be biased but j'accuse the left it is their fault because they're the ones and this

00:09:50.120 even shows up in the data like i you remember the the research on friendships that found that

00:09:55.820 people on the right were happy to befriend people who were left-leaning politically but people on

00:10:01.780 the left very clearly and distinctly in the data were unwilling to be friends with or would even

00:10:09.020 end terminate friendships with people who they sought to be politically conservative so this

00:10:14.680 freezing out is is unidirectional and i mean if we have a civil war it's going to be the fault of

00:10:22.480 the left it's not going to be our freaking fault because it's clear from data that is not there's

00:10:28.060 no partisan agenda behind it was just like let's learn about friendship they are definitely a big

00:10:33.300 part of this but yeah so just a little peek into what a chimp war is like in practice it looks like

00:10:40.800 groups of chimpanzees usually males so not always but trolling their territories borders and then

00:10:45.900 pushing into enemy territory so this is very much more like very similar to human wars then when

00:10:50.980 they encounter members of the opposing group they attack them often in brutal prolonged fashion

00:10:57.420 involving beating and biting and deliberate cruelty beyond what's needed to simply kill

00:11:03.000 so they they're aware of what chimpanzees will do in self-defense they've been studying this

00:11:09.420 particular group for 30 years they're going beyond like they're just they hate them they hate them

00:11:17.420 Wait, the two groups hate each other?

00:11:19.460 The two groups hate each other.

00:11:20.380 They're not just killing people strategically in self-defense or, oh, we need resources.

00:11:25.440 They're enjoying it.

00:11:27.120 In fact, females were also present during attacks that they monitored, and they occasionally carried out killings themselves, which is unusual.

00:11:35.080 They're notably more aggressive during this fission period than females typically are during intercommunity patrols.

00:11:43.080 patrols so even even the women are chimping out it's it's bad and then over seven years the

00:11:51.260 western group made 24 attacks killing at least seven mature males and 17 infants so there are

00:11:57.960 casualties and that's non-trivial in a group of 200 by 2017 two fully distinct territories and

00:12:04.680 groups were established and the civil war has continued on like it's there's there's no sign

00:12:10.580 of it ending and a lot of people are like well this happened because the troop was large and

00:12:17.260 it is the biggest one ever studied it's true but it's very common and apparently they call this

00:12:23.060 fusion and fission it's very common to see fission in a large chimp group they will break up because 0.99

00:12:28.940 they're just too big it's it's the the dominance hierarchy kind of falls apart but that is 0.99

00:12:33.840 it's usually peaceful. They just kind of go their separate ways. And there is no

00:12:39.140 conflict like this. This is very unusual. And that's why we want to go into what caused this.

00:12:46.540 This is what's so interesting. So it's not that the group was getting too big. What the key thing

00:12:51.260 is that key intermediary individuals died. So in 2014, at least two of these, like a large cluster

00:13:01.160 of important chimpanzees who used to be you know in high school like with the cliques there was

00:13:08.500 that kid who like would float between like the drama kids and the stoners or the popular kids

00:13:14.340 and the nerds right and they would they would sometimes get the groups together like invite

00:13:18.120 them all to their beach party I don't know I wasn't good at social things in high school but 0.68

00:13:23.900 that is what these intermediary chimps would do they would get basically two of these subgroups 0.99

00:13:30.800 within these groups together. And they were really good at connecting them. And this created 0.88

00:13:35.440 this sense of familiarity and exchange, even if they spent the majority of time kind of on their

00:13:40.100 own, doing their own thing. And it could be that there was some kind of sickness that spread

00:13:43.980 through in 2014, but a bunch of these key males specifically died. Two of them definitely died

00:13:52.440 from disease. So the bros. Yeah. Like the bros. Yeah. Who are just like, look, like let's all

00:13:57.600 hang out i mean i think you're you try to be one of these people within our culture right like we

00:14:01.760 reach out to people on the left all the time we try to get people together we host these parties

00:14:05.540 to get people i think it was in the right i try to be one of these people where we have many

00:14:10.240 different factions in the right with many different goals and i try to identify which ones can

00:14:16.060 actually work together effectively and then try to decrease tensions between those groups so that 0.66

00:14:21.760 we can win that is exactly what those chimps did but what happens if you die right and if like five 0.92

00:14:27.200 other people who are doing the same thing die you're going to get less of that exchange less 0.70

00:14:32.680 of the the very crucial membrane permeation that leads to a little bit more osmosis and like

00:14:41.520 stability between the membranes you know other it's going to become very brittle and strained

00:14:46.640 if if there isn't this exchange and so take this and then make it worse because in 2015

00:14:52.840 the the there was a a power transition the alpha male shifted and this coincided with the first

00:15:03.680 sustained separation between the western and central clusters and then this likely amplified

00:15:10.060 tensions right if there's a new leader there were probably a bunch of other males who were kind of

00:15:15.100 like in coalitions that were angling for power for the alpha male position in his like orbit of

00:15:20.420 supplemental alpha males i don't know how it works in chimp groups i'm just guessing here

00:15:24.000 but that must have made things worse but then what really solidified all of this

00:15:29.580 is that a respiratory epidemic hit in 2017 and this killed 25 chimpanzees and this ended up

00:15:37.000 killing some of the last remaining key intermediaries and then as those go go-betweens

00:15:43.980 just disappeared and vaporized no no one else like stepped in to fill that role well what i find

00:15:49.020 really interesting is if you look at what's happened in our society and you're using this

00:15:53.140 as a predictive sort of model the sort of social virus that has infected the left is so terrified

00:16:00.480 in fact the thing it's terrified most of is the intermediary right because the intermediary could

00:16:06.340 allow ideas to enter the left that would defeat the social contagion yeah or de-escalate the

00:16:11.840 to control people so they explicitly target intermediaries and then what the intermediaries

00:16:20.580 have done because if you look at many of the people who have become thought leaders on the

00:16:25.740 new right they are people who previously filled the intermediary role in society people like

00:16:32.860 myself or leaflet or jd vance or these were very much like the bridge between maga and the left

00:16:41.520 right like we talked with both of them we hung out with both of them we helped both of them

00:16:45.960 communicate with each other and i think one of the biggest challenges that the left is going to

00:16:52.760 have going forward is because it attacked the people willing to talk to both sides is the

00:16:58.280 intermediaries are now applying their skill set to make the right more culturally cohesive basically

00:17:06.960 to build a stronger faction against them and we're we're absolutely seeing that right like the the

00:17:13.320 right has been significantly less especially the new right that i've said significantly low drama

00:17:18.200 significantly low infighting yeah because no this isn't all of the right obviously there's parts of

00:17:24.320 like the legacy right who don't understand what's going on and we basically ignore them because they

00:17:28.760 speak to boomers and they're going to be dead soon anyway you know they can rail against anime

00:17:32.820 hentai or whatever actually no you okay so you've gotta look on whatsapp and pull up the the graph 0.90

00:17:38.020 image i just sent to you because what you're describing like if in fact it doesn't even say

00:17:42.460 anything about chimps here it says western group and central group but you could just replace that

00:17:46.320 with like leftists and and yeah actually i can just put this graph of chimps next to a graph of

00:17:54.020 the political parties drifting apart yeah and so what what you're if you're just listening what

00:17:59.220 we're looking at is a graph from the research looking at this chimpanzee war. It goes from

00:18:05.240 1998 to 2022. And it visually shows how different cliques and coalitions interchanged and exchanged

00:18:13.900 with each other. And you can see in 1998, it was both a smaller group. So there were fewer

00:18:20.700 involved in this discourse, which is pretty analogous to actually to how things used to be

00:18:27.000 in 1998 in our own time, when there literally were not that many voices involved in public

00:18:33.520 discourse. Anyway, though, then you start to see over time that there's more population density,

00:18:41.040 but then there's still a lot of exchange. And then after 2016, especially, just the interchange

00:18:49.700 between these different cliques just ends. And then you just basically see red and blue,

00:18:54.900 just big old blocks of red and blue and blue starts branching off a little bit it might be

00:19:00.200 going through some kind of fission event again around starting in 2021 it's unclear but from

00:19:06.320 2018 until 2021 both of these blocks were basically uninterrupted giant isolated chunks

00:19:13.420 and that is what civil war looks like and i i do worry reading this and looking at this graph and

00:19:21.460 just being like wait is this our political factions right now because it really feels like

00:19:25.680 that no after after i saw this graph i was like okay okay like i know right we need to talk about

00:19:33.280 this but then also you should look at the one with the picture of the chimpanzees at the bottom

00:19:38.660 this is figure one from the research it shows a different kind of visualization going from 2013

00:19:45.000 to 2018, where it sort of graphs out the social networks. And they show them in red and blue

00:19:51.580 again. And there's sort of this, you can see the spikes of how the social networks connect.

00:19:56.220 And in 2013, you really, it's hard to tell what's red and what's blue. It's just this combined

00:20:01.520 spiky ball. And then what you're seeing over time from 2013 to 2018, it looks like sort of a weird

00:20:07.880 spiky ball soot sprite from spirited away undergoing some form of like cell division

00:20:15.120 and then becoming just two distinct balls it just falls apart and it's just all about that

00:20:20.420 interconnectedness and it's it's fascinating to me and I think what this teaches us about human

00:20:26.780 civil war is that the role of linchpin individuals who connect disparate groups is super underrated

00:20:34.220 in our understanding of how they kick off that when i was taught how civil war worked in history

00:20:41.020 it was like well you need to have this point where like people are so poor that they're really angry

00:20:45.120 and then like some educated class is like in on it too but i think a lot of it does have to do with

00:20:49.900 a breakdown of communication between factions and really starting to view the enemy as not human

00:20:55.520 as other and that's how you're getting even female chimpanzees coming in here and being hungry to

00:21:01.640 to kill the infants that of groups that you know these are these are chimpanzees that grew up they 0.99

00:21:08.340 used to groom each other like they knew each other and they're killing each other now this 0.57

00:21:13.260 is this is really serious stuff and this is exactly what happens in human civil wars this

00:21:16.680 is how you got brothers fighting on opposite sides and i mean you we the the reason it escalates is

00:21:22.440 because somebody else killed your infants or did that like well sure yeah yeah no it escalates

00:21:26.880 real fast we're seeing this radicalization happen with like the antony trial right where the left 0.94

00:21:32.120 is like it should be okay to kill white people of course right like how dare you punish somebody 0.96

00:21:37.660 for killing a white person that they're actually getting surprised about this and this is in turn 0.99

00:21:44.440 no you're right like the fact that they were up in arms about that goes to show yeah this complete

00:21:50.820 lack of communication with someone who might hold a different perspective same with the way that

00:21:56.100 people respond to ice are just like well the to both treat ice officers as not human and then to

00:22:05.860 just be so unthinking and like how maybe we should enforce immigration law or to hate them so deeply

00:22:18.320 to like chase them around with whistles and just all these and to like call them nazis and

00:22:23.200 everything yeah i that's very disturbing but what i think we could do and what i view differently

00:22:32.800 now knowing this is that i think we should both take the concept of the index more seriously

00:22:40.940 this is something malcolm proposed in the pragmatist guide to crafting religion or the

00:22:45.560 book he wrote about culture basically crafting culture or making your existing religion stronger

00:22:50.800 in the face of modernity. And this concept of the index is this idea of this loose network of

00:22:57.460 families and cultures that respects the autonomy of other cultures and seeks to learn from them

00:23:03.760 and exchange with them to share certain cultural technologies, like maybe shared dating markets,

00:23:10.800 but to respect everyone's culture, but also welcome the intermixing and iteration of their

00:23:17.420 cultures. It's something that we've started to build up. There's a lot of families that are

00:23:21.260 already kind of listed as like, hey, we're going to be a part of this experiment when you have

00:23:24.820 critical mass sufficient to kick it off. And it is exactly formations of loose organizations like

00:23:31.700 that, that can create not only really helpful, safe alliances as things start to break down,

00:23:37.780 but also stave off things like civil war, because it's exactly that exchange that we need.

00:23:41.840 But it also makes me think of your techno Puritan covenant of the sons of men, which was designed sort of to fight off existential risk and threat from AI, but is also very much related to this, which is that we have to respect everyone's right to sovereignty and the right to exist as long as you're not putting others at risk.

00:24:09.520 and i think a core part of that involves being willing to exchange with them and understand them

00:24:15.800 and maybe pushing well and the the the i mean you could not with this model of civil war

00:24:22.920 have played your cards worse than the left played their cards and i think when you look at like

00:24:29.440 sensibilities and stuff like that like how far the right is willing to go at this point in terms of

00:24:34.840 getting things done yeah you know what ice is doing looks quite violent to a lot of people

00:24:40.300 but the vast majority of people on the right other than like nick fuentes who whines about i can't 0.94

00:24:44.900 even believe he whines about ice being too violent such a fucking weenus anyway i'm just so glad that 0.75

00:24:50.420 he's left our party such a weenus but the rest of us are like yeah like ice needs to do this right 0.97

00:24:57.160 like we have seen what happens on the other side of this the gang grapes of children where people

00:25:03.340 aren't even given prison sentences and stuff like that like this it's just mortifying at this point

00:25:07.580 how bad things have gotten and how statistically bad things have gotten and our site is just like

00:25:12.500 we don't care anymore we don't care about fairness or it looking bad and it's even i think the same

00:25:19.100 with elections where the left is completely unconcerned with like no matter how much evidence

00:25:24.500 you can show them that there was election fraud it is irrelevant to them at this point because

00:25:28.600 they're like well we should cheat in elections right like that's worth it for us and i think

00:25:33.420 that on the right we should be taking this perspective as well like much more aggressively

00:25:37.280 just like we need to no really i mean i think what a civil war functionally looks like in this

00:25:45.280 current day and age and you said this yeah is we need functional control of the tech lords that

00:25:51.740 means the ai companies and and and and fortunately we're actually sort of like already well on our

00:25:58.140 way to that most of the tech lords are new right adjacent or really sympathetic to our world

00:26:05.640 perspective and ways of thinking and like wider cultural movement so like we're already there

00:26:11.260 just part of the key to winning that is stop attacking the tech lords you doofuses right like

00:26:17.040 the tech lords are our friends who who owns the ai in the capital plays a lot of a role in who wins

00:26:25.920 a societal civil war we don't own the media and we can't own the media we're never going to win

00:26:30.860 those institutions we're never going to win the university system we're never going to win academia

00:26:35.400 but we can win the tech lords in an era where their influence disproportionately matters so

00:26:42.500 that means you need to be forgiving of the type of things that the tech lords do the the you know 0.85

00:26:48.180 they will hold some perspectives it may be like oh you know a bunch of gays and stuff like this

00:26:52.560 so then you've got to be more accepting of gay people right like if that's what the tech lords 0.74

00:26:56.260 are we need them on our side you can say that for your family for your kids that's not right

00:27:00.800 but making them feel uncomfortable partnering with us is setting us up to lose right like that's what

00:27:07.460 a controlled opposition would do within our party the second thing that we need to do

00:27:10.860 is ensure that the left can never win an election again and if that means transitioning governance

00:27:18.280 models, if that means changing how the government is run, if that means transitioning, as I've

00:27:23.500 often said, I think America, if we look at the length that an empire often lacks, sorry, lasts

00:27:28.020 or lives, we're reaching sort of the end of that cycle. If we look at Rome and its last days as a

00:27:34.140 republic, it mirrors America a lot right now. So it's, are we looking at transitioning into the

00:27:40.700 empire of America from the Republic of America? And I'm not, and I don't mind that if it's our

00:27:45.900 side that has grabbed power in this transition. And I know that that on the right would have

00:27:51.400 before, oh, how dare you say that? How dare you say that? And it's like, I'm sorry. You don't

00:27:57.100 seem to realize how much the other side hates you if you don't feel that way or how little your

00:28:03.840 lives or the lives of your children matter to them and their goals. And I think if we can just

00:28:08.140 capture those two things, the tech lords and the United States government, then in terms of moving

00:28:14.680 the world forwards we're in a very good position and the the the my plan would be once we got into

00:28:21.560 that position like had control of the u.s government the fight over politics in america

00:28:28.340 right now has really been globalized to a large extent oh yeah no absolutely so the american right

00:28:36.040 and the american left fight is playing out in all these other countries and a lot of them like in

00:28:40.540 Latin America and stuff now, or electing right-wing figures, I would probably move to a position of

00:28:46.520 beginning to build out a, well, a true American empire, right? Like to begin building the sort of

00:28:53.740 pseudo-vassalitic relations with these other right-wing governments and help them maintain

00:28:58.740 permanent power structures within their governments as well, under a sort of pan-American

00:29:04.520 American goal, right? Fanning out from American power interests. And I think that that's completely

00:29:11.160 realistic within our lifetimes to set that up. And it's probably the best thing that many of

00:29:15.980 these other countries can hope for because they're going to run out of money soon.

00:29:18.720 Their demographic situation and not having the same AI tech that we have or ability for innovative

00:29:23.860 capacity. And if you're like, oh, everyone has the same ability for innovative capacity. Okay,

00:29:27.960 live your fucking dream. All right. But like functionally, that's not the way things are 1.00

00:29:31.460 playing out right so that's that's where i'd like to see the the future go i think that that's that's

00:29:37.520 the way that this plays out with the least amount of of bloodshed and pain possible and i think a

00:29:44.020 lot of people and this is where i think the civil war is going right like i i don't follow the ruby

00:29:49.040 art style of civil war i think the civil war is about control of the government and control of

00:29:55.400 elite capital those are the two groups that really matter and the this this doesn't require

00:30:01.340 like a full-scale battle where you know you're arming yourself and you're running at each other

00:30:05.240 with guns and everything like that we don't need to fight our battles that way anymore it's it's a

00:30:09.940 new type of civilizational warfare you just need to capture the institutions in a way where the 0.98

00:30:17.740 the power transition becomes more ceremonial and less of a true democracy which is kind of a dumb

00:30:24.280 idea to begin with that we should just do whatever the average person thinks like that made a lot of

00:30:28.440 sense in our founders time when it was like the average educated person no no yeah that was never

00:30:33.000 that was never their plan yeah it was never it was it was like it was land-holding normies would get

00:30:41.440 to vote for an elite person to decide for them which i'm okay with that form of democracy like

00:30:47.140 let's go back to that right my god look i like what you designed more in the privatist guide

00:30:52.020 to governance this this i mean the index allows for a system to grow slowly out of the techno

00:30:56.960 puritan so you don't have to be a techno puritan to be in the index the index is a wider cultural

00:31:01.580 network for basically everybody who's looking to fight back against the the woke system find

00:31:07.520 spouses for their kids everything like that so the index isn't explicitly a techno puritan thing

00:31:12.420 it's just maintained by the techno puritan religious tradition because it was invented

00:31:16.600 to be useful. Hey, I'm glad you found that. Make sure it's charged. Don't take it outside.

00:31:23.960 If you're interested in how it works, it's not really relevant to most people how it works.

00:31:27.720 It's a very complicated system. I designed it to be incredibly robust and have almost none of the

00:31:33.400 problems of the existing governance systems that exist in the world today. It would be incredibly

00:31:37.500 stable, like basically better form of democracy. I'm really quite proud of the design of it,

00:31:43.100 but we don't need to go into that in this particular video all that you need to know

00:31:46.940 is it is a very robust thing but it was not meant to work at the level of the united states

00:31:52.880 government right like it was meant to create a sort of a a sub-governmental entity that could

00:32:01.260 heavily influence voting patterns everything like that but that was like a society under society

00:32:07.880 right like a type of aristocratic network almost and yeah but i mean this is this is where i think

00:32:13.560 we're going with with the quote-unquote civil war and i think if we don't get there yeah i think

00:32:19.740 we've got like two to three election cycles to figure this out right like that's it it just it

00:32:24.660 worries me to see how crucial like and how key of a role that breakdown in communication was with

00:32:31.400 these chimpanzees and how strikingly that's happening now and i don't know i mean so it

00:32:39.440 like with the french revolution it it happened very naturally because of i think maybe okay i

00:32:47.320 think maybe a key reason why this wasn't recognized as an issue in the past is that that communication

00:32:52.920 didn't exist to begin with so an easy cause of civil war could just be something much simpler

00:33:00.900 you know, like a breakdown in resources or, you know, the peasants not getting enough food or

00:33:06.200 whatever it might be, or a very distinct disagreement about governance. But actually,

00:33:14.520 I wish I could go back and study the civil war in the United States to see if like there was some

00:33:19.600 breakdown in communication that could have contributed to that. It's just I feel like

00:33:24.060 this breakdown in communication is unprecedented and so weird in a time where communication should

00:33:29.500 be easier than ever before. There are more people who are engaging in political discourse than we've

00:33:37.100 ever had engaging in it. They have every ability to reach out to people on the other side. We reach

00:33:42.880 out to people on the other side all the freaking time. I just did, what, yesterday? You were like,

00:33:48.960 reach out to, I'm not going to name who the person is, to have them on the podcast. They never get

00:33:53.520 back to us like we we we try to have people on other in from other like we'll say affiliative

00:34:01.840 groups come on they won't talk to us so even when we try it just it's it makes me very worried but

00:34:08.720 yeah now now i'm i'm with you and what if halt is with ruby yard as you call him and no the thing is

00:34:16.540 is we don't we don't need to we need to win the civil war we need to stop thinking like oh when's

00:34:21.160 a civil war going to happen and remember that the civil war is not with guns but it is won by

00:34:27.000 building a large enough coalition that you can maintain power structures and this is why the

00:34:33.220 people on the right who push people out who say oh the the base gays can't be in our party that's 0.99

00:34:38.860 so true yeah if you want to lose don't communicate and try to freeze people out that is the top way 1.00

00:34:45.800 to make yourself not competitive exactly and the people on the right who say this stupid like oh 0.95

00:34:52.000 the colorado effect or whatever which is like oh you give them an inch like you you they they went 0.97

00:34:56.620 left on like marijuana issues and then they became much more left on other issues and it's like no

00:35:01.800 they were like the first state to go left on marijuana so everybody moved there like that's 1.00

00:35:05.180 not an effect that's going to be replicated at the level of a country you buffoon you imbecile 1.00

00:35:10.900 like how can you not how can you not put that together this is exactly like a conversation 0.99

00:35:15.800 that you're going to see at the end of this where i say that a certain group seems to not be able to

00:35:20.160 tell the difference between something happening in one location and then being like but this other

00:35:25.520 location isn't life isn't a storybook with like rhyming plots or something like that a certain

00:35:32.500 group gold star to anyone who guesses who that group's gonna be you have to look at the actual

00:35:37.980 reasons that a thing happened and if it if those reasons aren't applicable in scenario b 0.99

00:35:45.160 then you're being a fucking idiot and you're shooting us in the foot right and it's important 0.99

00:35:50.460 to remember that the people we need to win the most are the tech lords and so knowing what their 1.00

00:35:58.980 interests are and what their red lines are in terms of how accepting we need to be as a party

00:36:06.660 is incredibly important and and like the two hard lines that they typically have are well they have

00:36:14.000 a few one is being incredibly anti-semitic that will immediately wipe the tech lords out of your

00:36:19.540 boat you're not going to get them on board with you because just their world involves a lot of 1.00

00:36:24.980 working with jews and if you're a smart tech lord type person and you're playing 3d chess you're 1.00

00:36:30.320 like obviously we need a high fertility high technology population on our side right like 1.00

00:36:35.680 that that's the group that matters like a lot to the tech lord you can say you're not okay with

00:36:41.940 gayness or even that gayness like gay marriage should be illegal in the united states but being

00:36:46.820 specifically antagonistic or mean or having gay people or same-sex attracted people not feel safe 0.53

00:36:53.000 in your communities that will absolutely lose you the tech lords and being anti-science will

00:36:57.580 absolutely lose you the tech lords just being like oh i'm against genetic research oh i'm against

00:37:02.540 cloning research oh i'm against you it's one thing to say i'm against it for my community

00:37:07.720 it's another thing to say it should be banned and again why do the tech lawyers care about that not

00:37:11.160 just because they use this technology but because they're not stupid and they know that any faction

00:37:16.520 long term that bans this sort of technology is going to fail at the civilizational game they're 0.94

00:37:22.920 going to get curb stomped by china in 100 years when they've continued to develop or whoever does 0.95

00:37:27.600 continue to develop the the the tech refugee you know whatever charter city i do have a lot of hope 0.84

00:37:34.360 for this you know i i think them and you you talk about people you know griefing on this the vast

00:37:39.620 majority of the criticism that i hear for things like science or ivf or whatever online typically

00:37:47.360 are just people expressing their opinion in the same way that like the red sox would dunk on the 0.97

00:37:53.740 yankees like i think you're wrong and dumb but like we're all gonna keep playing the same game

00:37:57.440 together and we know that we need to so i'm not worried about that even actually trending just 0.87

00:38:01.560 recently on x was a discussion of some people being like well anime is like a gateway to being

00:38:07.180 weird i don't want my kids to look at anime and then a lot of very prominent conservative

00:38:13.520 influencers being like dude no anime's fine get over yourself like this is fine like bronze age 0.70

00:38:18.900 pervert being like i know a guy who really likes anime and he sends he videos of him like banging 0.89

00:38:25.320 women in like the bathrooms of nightclubs all the time he's not an incel like he's i guess that was 0.96

00:38:29.880 his like his sign that he's okay i don't know if that's wait who was this bronze pervert yeah 0.98

00:38:35.060 banging women in bathrooms that was his sign that his friend who watched anime was not some 0.77

00:38:43.240 basement dwelling in cell that couldn't get as he called it anime clean up with girls i know

00:38:49.860 they couldn't get it and the way he spelled it p-u-c-c-y i love his spelling it is it is a true

00:38:55.500 form of art he's an artist p-u-c-c-y anyway yeah no the the right is inclusive it's good that there

00:39:02.820 are debates that take place it is important that people disagree with each other and also have very

00:39:07.980 different ideas but I don't worry about the right because most importantly those debates are taking

00:39:13.740 place at all whereas what happens on the left is it's just like and there are these evil people

00:39:19.120 who are doing these unspeakable things and they don't say it as in like all right come at me like

00:39:25.020 let's hear your argument it's because Malcolm like even the way you talk about Catholics it's 1.00

00:39:29.120 like yeah come serve me your next dish I will take it and I will pan it like you're excited for it

00:39:34.700 Because we talk with Catholics and Catholics talk with us.

00:39:37.580 Whereas when I hear left-leaning influencers talk about anything that's related to the right, it's just from this extreme strawmanning, not even willing to engage with his never-talking conservative perspective.

00:39:49.480 Yeah, I mean, we promote Catholic influencers all the time.

00:39:52.560 We've promoted, what's her name, Pichikinen, for example.

00:39:55.480 We've promoted, who's very pro-Catholic, we just recently had him on, Basic Ideas.

00:40:00.120 I was actually very surprised that he wasn't Catholic because he's so-

00:40:02.640 Basic logic. 0.99

00:40:03.360 Basic logic, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:40:04.460 in his ranking of christian traditions he brings it at the top you know yeah i agree with you and

00:40:10.320 i don't worry it's it's going to be just fine on our side i really worry about the left no no no

00:40:17.960 the the risk on our side is that our side feels like they're winning and they become more aggressive

00:40:23.260 against the red lines that the tech lords have but that seems increasingly unlikely given that

00:40:29.500 people like nick fuentes have largely been pushed out and isolated like he had that big bump where

00:40:32.880 looked like he was going to become relevant and then he just completely dropped off at it into

00:40:36.500 nowhere again yeah i wonder what was going on there he was so incredibly popular for a while

00:40:42.300 it almost felt manufactured but i don't think it was so i don't know well i'd still love to have

00:40:47.260 him on the show it would be so great to him the people who platformed him immediately fell into

00:40:52.720 irrelevance tucker carlson sort of immediately went crazy after talking to nick fuentes he's

00:40:58.440 still pretty prominent he's still pretty prominent but he can't platform somebody even like the way

00:41:03.240 he did with nick fuentes with that would that mean he doesn't have that much cultural power

00:41:07.220 anymore that he did when he did the nick fuentes interview and then pierce morgan also is a

00:41:12.460 significant like he could platform someone but he's platformed us before and stuff like that he

00:41:17.040 just hasn't gotten in an argument with us right you know and so so it doesn't it doesn't go viral

00:41:21.060 right but uh yeah it's about winning guys we're in this we're in this for the species boys and

00:41:28.200 girls okay we're in this for the species boys and girls we for real are yeah so you know don't let

00:41:36.320 your you know your your desire to status signal how conservative you are destroy our ability to

00:41:43.140 win for you new people i only have one rule everyone fights no one quits you don't do your 0.99

00:41:52.520 job i'll shoot you you get me we get you sir welcome to the roughnecks yeah oh my gosh this 0.87

00:42:03.300 actually just made me think also about that camp experiment that they had to cancel midway through 0.98

00:42:08.840 where they separated the boys out and had them they like made them hate each other and yeah it

00:42:15.780 just seems to be there's this fundamental dynamic of oh hey check it out when you isolate groups

00:42:22.060 from each other and then also make them start to hate each other they will start doing unspeakable

00:42:27.640 things to each other they hate they will actually really for real hate each other there's no uniting

00:42:32.240 humanity or something in all of us so we should just be aware of that i think that sometimes

00:42:39.380 people get a little too highfalutin with things like civil war and what will cause them when

00:42:43.700 really it's like i don't know are they talking at all no then it's probably bad like you can even

00:42:51.340 tell if a divorce is going to be extra bad because if they're not talking and only the lawyers are

00:42:57.080 exchanging you know it's just this is gonna be ugly yeah anyway i love you very much but the

00:43:04.500 again the mistake they made is they pushed what we see in the chimps the thing that keep this

00:43:08.380 group together are the people who are willing to look for potential alliances yeah keep things 0.74

00:43:12.780 stitched together pushing out those people those are your linchpins to winning that is why america

00:43:19.360 won the the the revolutionary war we shouldn't have won that right like all of these various

00:43:25.120 groups in america hated each other they had reasons to hate each other they had long-standing

00:43:28.740 ravences yeah this was not an easy thing to pull off because these groups were like dude i'm doing

00:43:34.620 my own thing i don't want to get involved in this this is not my battle i don't care it was the

00:43:39.720 compromise monkeys that win the battle for you yes exactly yeah it's learn your american history by

00:43:46.960 This is extremely true of early American history.

00:43:49.780 This is not my interpretation of early American history.

00:43:53.200 The core of the revolution was really fought

00:43:56.060 on getting the various colonies to work together. 0.97

00:43:58.760 The compromised monkeys.

00:44:00.400 Yeah, there's too much emphasis on alpha males.

00:44:03.480 And there was a crucial role that an alpha male played

00:44:06.420 in the chimpanzee war of 2015 to now,

00:44:10.020 but it was more that that just increased tensions.

00:44:14.540 And this is already-

00:44:16.960 Yeah, this has always been true.

00:44:18.560 One of my favorite heroes from history is Samistocles.

00:44:23.720 The Mystocles.

00:44:24.980 And we really wanted to name one of our kids the Mystocles, but it's...

00:44:28.480 Kind of an effeminate name.

00:44:30.020 Well, it's Lispy sounding.

00:44:32.040 Yes, Lispy sounding.

00:44:32.720 So for people who aren't familiar of the bad buttery that he pulled off,

00:44:38.100 he got all of the Greek city-states to work together against Persia

00:44:42.520 in some real, like, awesome, awesome...

00:44:45.720 awesome like what he did was so much more impressive than what the 300 did master class

00:44:50.180 yeah in manipulation of different groups and factions and like yeah like one of my favorite

00:44:55.200 things is so they had this faction that he knew was really like not that committed to the war

00:45:01.460 effort but like had a lot of ships and so he explicitly sort of navigated them into a trap

00:45:08.900 where the other side to spring the trap

00:45:12.660 put their ships on the outside of the,

00:45:16.260 basically their only escape route.

00:45:17.900 And so he manufactured a battle

00:45:21.400 where the side that wasn't that committed

00:45:24.180 and otherwise would have run away

00:45:25.900 had to stay and fight.

00:45:27.920 And through that, they were able to win the battle,

00:45:30.960 which is just astonishingly cool work on his part.

00:45:34.460 And I'm so glad it was actually immortalized

00:45:36.620 because I bet that there are other people

00:45:37.920 who've done incredibly clever things like that in the past just no one knows no one knows so i'm

00:45:42.280 really glad that he gets credit for it because he so deserves it it's just so amazing yeah really

00:45:47.680 really cool guy yeah we can do a whole like weekend episode on him anyway love you simone

00:45:51.660 and it's the the mystic leases of the world are the ones who really win it's not the big

00:45:57.860 guy to die in mountain passes okay yeah it's the guys who get a bunch of groups that have

00:46:03.240 differences with each other to learn how to communicate to each other where they acknowledge

00:46:07.420 their differences they acknowledge their grievances like a lot of the founding father it's not about

00:46:11.480 never saying bad things i say bad things about gay people on this podcast i say bad things about

00:46:16.620 many groups within our faction like wider faction on this podcast where we we talk about them we 0.64

00:46:21.620 investigate those things if we live in a society where you cannot investigate what's wrong with

00:46:25.640 other groups or the reason you have differences with other groups you're never going to be able

00:46:29.320 to build a true coalition and that was true in the samistically period and it was true in the

00:46:34.080 american coalition building uh the puritans and the quakers and the cavaliers and the

00:46:38.320 backwards people they didn't end up getting along because they stopped telling bad stories about 0.97

00:46:45.560 each other right or explaining to each other why they don't like each other it was because they

00:46:50.140 found areas of mutual interest and they realized that the fight was existential

00:46:55.060 and that was communicated effectively yeah yeah they understood that their incentives were aligned

00:47:03.440 and were able to put down their differences but if they didn't even have channels for communication

00:47:08.420 they never could have made that happen so civil war ho yay bye

00:47:16.760 i love you you want to chat yeah of course i want to chat what's like chatting what's up

00:47:26.660 so i am very excited to be talking with you about all of the things i mean i guess i can

00:47:33.180 check to make sure the site's still working but oh my god the site so many cool features by the

00:47:36.460 way now i'm really excited especially about the editing thing the video recording and editing

00:47:41.100 thing working which i'm really excited about and this isn't just what you really impressed me when

00:47:46.020 i opened it up that it is it is podcast recording software that is better than what we are using

00:47:52.100 and then it seamlessly transitions to the editing software which doesn't just allow you to like

00:47:58.560 delete all the ums and the likes and the pauses and delete entire paragraphs as you wish to move

00:48:05.020 things around but also literally fact check there was a fact check button yeah i don't know that's

00:48:11.840 so freaking cool i mean of course like for us that would make sense for a lot of youtubers that

00:48:17.280 would make sense but i think your typical people who develop video editing software would never

00:48:22.280 think oh i bet people would like a feature like that because one no one thinks anyone i should

00:48:29.460 update the fact checker to not be just a this isn't woke enough checker oh is that what it is

00:48:35.000 now well you know sometimes i imagine it's going to do that so like let's i guess you have to just

00:48:42.120 i guess limit the engines it uses are you just gonna add additional prompts around that

00:48:48.980 anyway oh I'm just gonna change the prompting a bit hmm I'm so impressed I think it's great

00:48:58.080 I think it's wonderful I genuinely think that you're pretty freaking amazing and what have

00:49:04.480 what have I learned today nothing new because I haven't really been paying attention I mean

00:49:08.800 have you followed this Trump China election fraud stuff no not at all actually I I don't know

00:49:14.400 i'm tired about hearing about election fraud elections are fraudulent elections have always

00:49:21.540 been fraudulent i wish we could go back i remember some political cartoon from some of the earliest

00:49:26.840 american elections where they're buying beer for voters like if we're gonna if it's gonna be this

00:49:33.140 fake can't we just can we get free stuff i'd like i mean they basically do that for homeless people

00:49:37.960 in la you know we know about them going around and giving them money or giving them like what

00:49:41.640 Is it like haircuts or... Cigarettes.

00:49:44.780 It's the same thing.

00:49:45.660 It's the same thing. Nothing has changed.

00:49:48.900 I don't know.

00:49:50.160 I think a nice beverage

00:49:51.820 is better than a cigarette, but I guess I just want to 0.99

00:49:53.740 euthanize them 0.97

00:49:55.680 faster. Though not really

00:49:57.760 because it's putting more strain on the

00:49:59.600 healthcare system if they get lung cancer.

00:50:03.800 Anyway.

00:50:05.300 That's why you should just pull a

00:50:07.560 Patrick Bateman.

00:50:09.000 Just go to the... 1.00

00:50:11.640 At the end of your workday, just go murder some homeless people. 0.99

00:50:16.920 Lower the cost on the health care system and the social services system. 0.99

00:50:20.740 That's where you are right now in terms of like, I've had enough.

00:50:26.240 No, I don't know.

00:50:28.360 I don't know.

00:50:32.300 I don't know what to believe about homelessness anymore either.

00:50:36.960 It's mostly they shut down the asylums. 0.99

00:50:40.780 That's huge. 0.96

00:50:41.640 if we went back to having asylums where we could put like vagrants and stuff like that like we 0.99

00:50:46.860 would solve a lot of society's problems yeah but we don't so but kennedy that asshole was that 0.98

00:50:57.540 was that kennedy before he was he shut down the asylums and he said he was going to come up with 0.97

00:51:01.540 some other solution for where to put all the people and he never did didn't his sister end

00:51:05.840 up in an asylum though i mean a private one i think that yeah i think society just forgot about

00:51:10.180 society's just like it it didn't used to be normal to have homeless people roaming around

00:51:14.660 like this we used to have a place where we put them but anyway well before people families were

00:51:20.280 largely responsible for them that kind of stopped i do wonder what happened before that though

00:51:26.780 before what well before basically before there were asylums and when families were responsible

00:51:35.040 for them and if they decided they weren't going to be responsible would they just end up basically

00:51:39.460 being subject to capital punishment by not following societal rules. Like what would

00:51:45.140 there were other, you know, underworld type things that people would join, like the giant gangs of

00:51:51.960 like orphans and stuff like that. Right. Well, that was, that was orphans though. It's different

00:51:56.380 when it's a mentally ill adult who can't be directed, right? Like orphans and street urchins 1.00

00:52:01.380 can kind of self-organize. They're, they're broadly logical and smart and resourceful and

00:52:06.540 trying to survive whereas someone suffering from schizophrenia is not you can't like bring them 0.77

00:52:11.920 into your criminal enterprise i mean somebody suffered from schizophrenia is a witch right

00:52:16.620 like that's that's what we have those rules for somebody going around muttering spells at people

00:52:21.140 so they just got they were just subject to capital yeah that's that's that i mean i think

00:52:28.600 for society that's probably the best solution there's there's there's probably less painful

00:52:34.880 ways to do it then they would have done it historically but i i don't think that that

00:52:37.740 was a and then if you want to do it like the most ethical way you can do the asylum but like

00:52:42.660 well and keep in mind that was for the the people whose families rejected them or for whatever

00:52:47.260 reason unable to take care of them that's key because i saw presumably a really interesting

00:52:53.360 case recently where somebody from the white house was talking to a reporter and she goes

00:52:57.000 they said deus vault and he's like yeah you know that's what ex-pope said before the crusades

00:53:02.820 and she was like what the crusades that's where they killed you know jews and muslims and he goes 0.93

00:53:09.320 well it largely muslims it was because they had invaded christian territory and killed a bunch 0.85

00:53:13.920 of christians and they were trying to take it back and she goes are you seriously trying to 0.91

00:53:18.480 argue the crusades we're just listen listen to him he says the crusades are good ah ah is this

00:53:25.080 really someone you want in the white house and like everybody who's watching this who's like

00:53:28.980 remotely like we don't live in that game anymore it's so interesting that they're still trying to

00:53:32.660 play this game with us like can you well one of the people who watches this podcast had suggested

00:53:38.280 to us that there's this theory that right before bad behavior is about to be extinguished it

00:53:44.460 intensifies like if a child is having a tantrum sometimes a tantrum gets way worse and then it

00:53:49.100 ends and that maybe what we could be seeing playing out in society either now or over the

00:53:54.460 coming years is an intensification of that behavior before it's extinguished i think that

00:54:00.460 This is fundamentally looking at society like a Catholic, which is to say that you see the world

00:54:05.920 in terms of stories and themes, instead of trying to think about what individual motivations are 0.71

00:54:12.460 and what individual ideologies are. So you expect society, it's like, children work this way,

00:54:18.520 so society will work this way. It's sort of like seeing everything through metaphors,

00:54:22.140 but that's not the way the world actually works. Metaphors can help you understand the thing

00:54:26.940 sometimes but they're not predictive so what we would actually look at is be like okay i am a woke

00:54:33.860 individual who has dedicated my life to this who has lived with z social norms for x long what's

00:54:39.700 going to make me change my mind how will i behaviorally react to society as it becomes

00:54:46.040 more based and part of the answer is well yes they will start to scream louder but that doesn't mean

00:54:50.880 they're going to stop they're going to scream louder right up to their deathbed it's going to

00:54:55.900 be very hard well which may not be that long from now when we look at the the high rates of

00:55:00.300 unaliving and and panic we're seeing among this community that is just like dysfunctional and

00:55:05.300 becoming less influential like really quickly in our society i'm resetting my minutes since

00:55:13.200 malcolm has last railed against catholic timer back to zero zero minutes no but i'd say that

00:55:20.060 because one of the ways that catholics think differently and it it comes up a lot when i'm

00:55:24.220 talking to them because it's it's genuinely a different way of perceiving and interacting with

00:55:29.620 the world and we need different perspectives to be represented in the future because they are

00:55:34.380 useful at different times and when we're i agree there are different times but it's it's something

00:55:39.600 that i would expect you would know better than to fall for like society the mechanisms that would

00:55:45.180 cause a toddler to do that are not likely to replay out at the level of society um

00:55:52.020 maybe i don't know maybe it depends i mean you can see for example with j curves in ecosystems

00:56:02.580 that there can be forms of things that intensify before an extinguishing event so like i i'm not

00:56:09.940 i i don't think you're you're fair in saying that patterns don't sometimes repeat like fibonacci

00:56:15.760 sequences show a bullet right but you shouldn't expect them to repeat like i guess what i mean

00:56:21.920 is you should expect a pattern to repeat when it is happening within a context so if this pattern

00:56:27.560 had happened with society after society or with previous social movements after social movement

00:56:33.020 after social movement yeah but seeing a pattern in one thing doesn't mean i should expect to see it

00:56:38.780 in a different thing because you know i see a pattern among a pack of wolves doesn't mean i

00:56:45.520 well but malcolm it's it's all describing societal behavior and perhaps the reason this

00:56:49.980 this behavioral issue happens is people are like my so first behaviors are learned by getting

00:56:55.940 reinforced right like you throw the tantrum you get the candy and then after a while you know you

00:57:01.000 you were like well my i'm not tantruming hard enough i need to tantrum harder to get the candy

00:57:05.820 and then eventually you tantrum so hard that you're like wow i really can't do this anymore

00:57:09.240 and it stops now this could be happening also on a larger societal level of a movement being like

00:57:14.580 oh i need to go harder on this because i'm not getting the same results they're stopping the

00:57:18.500 dei hiring maybe i need to go harder on the advocacy right then those two things are

00:57:22.980 uncorrelated like it's not worth talking about the child talk it's the the question about whether

00:57:28.500 or not it gets worse is dependent on the people who hold these beliefs and who are pushing this

00:57:33.860 how will they react to societal changes and how much social power do they have

00:57:37.100 i mean isn't that similar to a toddler throwing a tantrum no because the reason why a toddler

00:57:46.580 might escalate a tantrum before it stops is just either they're tiring themselves out at the end

00:57:51.360 there but because they just did a period where they got extra angry or they're trying one last

00:57:56.840 gambit to see if they can get something out of their parents whereas i don't think that that's

00:58:01.940 the way anybody who would be making these sorts of decisions these woke people i don't think they

00:58:06.580 think in terms of gambits there's just like a way the world works to them i don't know look at

00:58:13.220 what you thinker you're i'll get us started with this one okay really i have a whole intro let me

00:58:18.840 do it i outline the episode okay let simone do it let your generally not very good with it are you

00:58:25.900 absolutely sure i will do an intro and then you can do your intro after that after you pan my

00:58:30.660 Okay?

00:58:31.660 Okay.

00:58:32.660 Okay, because I have context for this. 1.00

00:58:34.660 It's chimp war. 1.00

00:58:35.660 You ready? 1.00

00:58:37.660 There's a titty beard.

00:58:39.660 There's a titty beard.

00:58:41.660 There's a bloating titty beard. 0.70

00:58:52.660 Did Tex just spit?

00:58:53.660 Uh, Tex really likes it when you talk to him.

00:58:57.660 You're a good big brother.

00:58:59.660 It's a flying mire.

00:59:01.880 It's a flying mire. 1.00

00:59:08.980 Mommy's trying to get pregnant with another baby right now. 1.00

00:59:11.660 Oh.

00:59:12.840 Yeah, but yeah, I know.

00:59:14.280 But the baby keeps dying.

00:59:17.920 Yeah, that's no good.
