Harvey Weinstein finally speaks for the first time in 8 years. He tells the world why he didn t rape Gwyneth Paltrow, why he s not guilty of rape, and why he doesn t want to go to prison.
00:01:38.820I swear that before God and the people watching now and on my family.
00:01:44.260The people who support me are scared to talk.
00:01:47.080They are frightened to death that they're going to be canceled.
00:01:49.960What I always found to be problematic about the Me Too movement from the beginning were conflating, he made a pass at me and I didn't like it, with rape.
00:01:58.140It's a complete fabrication about my relationship with Gwyneth.
00:04:18.940According to their rules, they never imagined a scenario when the Me Too movement was going all crazy where podcasting would pick up, where people would be able to speak to independent journalists, to moms, to just talk to mommy sleuths about what actually took place.
00:04:35.060Or that mommy sleuths would have so much fun on TikTok and on Instagram going through transcripts and reading the court cases.
00:04:42.100And I will tell you that tomorrow we will be dropping a part of that conversation here for free on YouTube.
00:04:48.780And I've been very clear about why this matters so much to me.
00:04:51.500If you are not paying attention, Harvey is back in court in New York City.
00:04:55.480His cases got overturned, which I'm glad to hear because looking through this case has made me lose faith in the judicial process of America.
00:05:06.500That's why this case matters, because I just gave birth to my third son.
00:05:11.140And I just cannot imagine a scenario where the media can just effectively execute a hoax.
00:05:17.880And nobody cares about the facts of the case.
00:05:20.040They care about the emotion of the case.
00:05:21.420They care about women crying on the stand.
00:05:23.600And they go, oh, well, put him in prison.
00:05:26.520For those of you who have been locked into this series, it's in my view and in the view now of the appellate judges who overturned his prosecution was indeed a media hoax.
00:05:38.180Harvey was essentially hanged because somebody had to pay for the hashtag Me Too.
00:05:53.320I'm going to very briefly run you guys who have not watched this series.
00:05:57.560You should go back, watch episode one, watch episode two.
00:06:01.140I would encourage you to watch all of the episodes before you dive in to the conversation that I had with Harvey.
00:06:07.640But I'm going to very briefly run you through the absurdity of the New York cases that initially put him into prison before telling you the most absurd story ever.
00:07:03.500Essentially, the story that she tells is kind of like that viral Super Bowl meme of the artist, The Weeknd, you know, where he looks like he has no idea where he's going.
00:07:14.520And I'll tell you why it is best remembered that way.
00:07:17.600In short, Mimi met Harvey at the Cannes Film Festival.
00:07:22.600She went up to his hotel at that time.
00:07:26.340She claimed to be horrified by him already having made a pass at her.
00:07:30.700And she was so horrified by what happened at the Cannes Film Festival that, and the emails reveal this, she immediately thereafter reaches out to his office, the Weinstein Company, and secures herself an internship at his company, working as a production assistant for Project Runway.
00:07:47.700She was so horrified at what happened in Cannes that at the end of that internship, she decides to meet up with him at the Mercer Hotel to catch up.
00:07:55.600She then heads down to his office to meet with someone else there.
00:07:59.720And after seeing him, agrees for him to drive her back to her apartment in New York City.
00:08:05.520And to be clear, his assistant was in the car with him at that time.
00:08:09.660Now, she tells the story that that's when he marked where she lived, because obviously, if you're Harvey Weinstein,
00:08:14.640it would make sense that rather than inviting her somewhere, you're just going to figure out where she lives by dropping her off at home and then barge into her apartment later that evening.
00:08:28.260Well, first, he rang the doorbell and she opened.
00:08:31.500She had to obviously physically open the door, which the court transcripts show.
00:08:35.600But then once he gets in through that door and in through a second secure door, which she doesn't really remember how he did that, he then instantly knew which apartment was hers.
00:09:00.360What you find when you read these court transcripts is that when these young women get into a hiccup, when they come across a hiccup and they can't really explain why something makes no sense, they just start crying harder.
00:09:12.480They need breaks, you know, they need water breaks, they're overcome with emotion suddenly when something they say makes no sense.
00:09:20.880OK, now you would think after that she would have gone to the police.
00:09:27.680Just a few days beyond there, she alleges that he again and she was so upset with herself, got into a predicament where Harvey again assaulted her this time in a hotel room, which was his.
00:09:41.080So she went into his hotel room upon invite and she says she was going, you know, to address him about what had happened earlier, but instead was assaulted again.
00:09:52.340And after that assault, Mimi, like all the women involved, magically get tickets and red carpet premiere events.
00:10:00.200Harvey is able to pay for their flights, sometimes to Los Angeles, sometimes to London.
00:10:05.520Mimi keeps up this relationship with Harvey Weinstein spanning years, by the way.
