00:00:12.260 I love getting dressed up for July 4th. It's one of my favorite holidays. I spend it usually with my husband's family and I love the color scheme, of course, and of course we love what it stands for.
00:00:24.020 We're so proud to be Americans, we're so proud to be a part of this country, and I love celebrating it. The fireworks, there's usually a barbecue, there is nothing more fun than July 4th spent with family.
00:00:35.920 And I've spent a bunch of July 4ths away from family because I was usually at opera performing programs and those were fun too, but there's something special about celebrating with family.
00:00:46.080 Now if I can get dressed up for really anything, I will, and the fact that there is a color scheme and theming that you can match your makeup and your outfit to makes me so happy and I absolutely love doing it.
00:00:59.580 So I wanted to share some of my favorite outfits and some of my favorite tips and tricks for how to get really into that patriotic mood for July 4th and how to celebrate our flag.

00:01:12.160 First things first, before we get into the outfits, I wanted to ask you guys if you wanted me to do a makeup tutorial for July 4th that had some really cool theming.

00:01:25.440 But of course, one of my favorite things to do for July 4th is wear red lipstick.
00:01:30.360 I absolutely love red lipstick and what better day to wear it than when we are celebrating our flag.
00:01:36.680 So, having on a red lipstick will just make every outfit look more fun, more patriotic, and I absolutely love wearing red lipstick on July 4th.

00:01:57.800 So, outfit number one is more of a classic and feminine look for July 4th.
00:02:03.500 This is a really pretty navy dress.

00:02:07.700 I got it a really long time ago at TJ Maxx and I just love the length of it.

00:02:14.520 The dress itself is really covered up, so the fact that it's sleeveless makes it look really classic and pretty.

00:02:26.820 Also, this dress has a little bit of a nautical feel to it because it has a bunch of white anchors all over it.

00:02:36.740 To bring attention to my waist, I paired it with a red belt with these flowers.

00:03:53.440 But wearing a dress that comes to this specific point on the leg looks really good with a heel.

00:04:34.860 The next outfit I have here is this really cute high-waisted jean with a nautical shirt.

00:04:43.660 So I really like this shirt, but it can be difficult to wear because it's very boxy.
00:04:47.500 So if you're going to wear a boxy shirt like this, you have to pair it with something that's more fitted on the bottom.
00:04:53.500 So I chose these high-waisted skinny jeans, which I really like because they A, have a button fly.
00:04:59.140 So the whole thing is buttons, which is really fun and cute.
00:05:01.440 And then as well, the hem is frayed, which gives a little bit of this kind of edgy feeling and makes it a little bit more casual.
00:05:08.780 Generally, I'm not a fan of ripped jeans, but the hem being frayed doesn't bother me as much.
00:05:14.320 And I think you can still make it look classic by dressing it up.

00:05:21.080 And then I put on these really comfortable sandals, which look a little bit fancier than they feel.

00:07:25.320 And so now we have the white and the blue color scheme, but now we need the red.

00:07:31.440 So I chose these really comfortable red flats that add a little bit of a splash of color.
00:07:36.000 And then I paired that with a wicker purse that I have because in the summertime is really the best time to use a wicker purse.

00:07:43.700 So if we're only going to have a purse that we can use in the summer, we might as well use it on July 4th.
00:07:49.280 But the way to make it look patriotic is to tie this scarf around the handle.
00:07:53.880 I put this white and blue scarf there, and I think it makes just a little bit of a difference and gives it a little bit of a feminine feel as well as fitting in with the color scheme.
00:08:01.840 And then I finished off the look just with a nice watch just to keep that kind of elevated look.

00:08:09.260 Honestly, the whole outfit is pretty simple, but throwing on that blazer and throwing that little scarf along the handle of the purse just gives it this little added oomph that makes it look really patriotic, fun, and cute.
00:08:21.840 The last look I have here is definitely the most casual, and I've got a really cute pair of shorts that have red, white, and blue stripes, so that makes things easy.
00:08:31.080 Also, these shorts are a little bit longer, which I like better.
00:08:34.180 I know some people aren't super comfortable wearing shorts.

00:08:38.700 I think if you are wearing shorts that are a good length, that are a little bit on the longer side, I think that's okay in my opinion.

00:08:56.020 And then I put it with this high-necked shirt again, the same one I wore in the last outfit, but I paired it with my jean jacket just to give a little bit of extra flair and flavor.
00:09:05.800 One of the things I think about with shorts is that if I'm going to wear shorts, I like to be a little bit more covered up on the top.
00:09:11.980 So if I'm going to wear shorts, I wear a long-sleeve top and something that is high-necked or something to that effect, just so that not too much skin is showing.
00:09:19.560 And then I paired it with just a really cute, comfortable pair of white sneakers.
00:09:24.080 These just go really well with the shorts and the top, and they kind of fit in with the color scheme again, so that's really nice.
