00:00:00.000 Hello Classic Crew and welcome to today's episode of The Scoop.
00:00:08.540 If you are new to my channel, here we talk about classic living and traditional values
00:00:12.260 and I would love if you would consider subscribing and hitting that notification bell.
00:00:15.860 If you would like to become a subscriber to my sub stack where you'll get access to a ton of
00:00:20.280 exclusive content including my book club, my AV club, weekly articles, and access to the comment
00:00:25.800 section for my podcast, make sure to head over to classicallyabby.substack.com. So if you didn't
00:00:32.060 know, The Scoop is our opportunity just to catch up and see how everybody's doing. I'm sharing a
00:00:37.320 little bit about me. I like to hear a little bit about you in the comments. Let me know what you've
00:00:40.460 been up to and then also just kind of chat about what's going on in the world, on Twitter, whatever
00:00:44.700 else is happening. So make sure to grab a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, get cozy, and let's get into
00:00:51.240 it. So I've got my cup of coffee here. It's delicious. I'm using a new coffee creamer from
00:00:57.480 Coffee Mate that is plant-based because basically I'm lactose intolerant. I ignore it sometimes when
00:01:04.220 I really want something but for the most part like creamers really hurt my stomach so plant-based
00:01:08.600 creamers are better for me and this one is oat milk and almond milk and it's delicious.
00:01:13.660 But in any case, the big news is that Mr. Baby is crawling. He is on the move. He doesn't like his
00:01:23.340 little playpen anymore. He wants to be able to go anywhere and everywhere. He's chasing shoes. He's
00:01:29.440 chasing things that he shouldn't but also he's playing with his toys. It's amazing. He is getting
00:01:34.960 big so fast. He is going to be eight months on Saturday so that's pretty cool. I can't believe
00:01:41.980 he's already eight months old. And also he went from army crawling to crawling like normally within
00:01:48.840 the space of a week and now he's starting to want to like cruise. He's getting there. He's
00:01:55.300 going to be there quickly I think. So Mr. Baby's getting big really fast. It's amazing. He's just
00:02:03.060 the most fun. So we are reading books and he's actually listening. We went to the library. Is that
00:02:08.740 on my list to talk about? It is? Okay. We went to the library. Guys, I love the library. I think
00:02:16.580 going to the library is so much fun. It makes me super happy and it reminds me of my childhood
00:02:21.400 and bringing Mr. Baby to the library for the first time was so cute. First of all, just exciting to go
00:02:30.680 to the library for the first time in our new state. But second of all, it's like I'm getting to share
00:02:36.100 this really special thing with my baby that I remember my mom doing with me and my dad doing
00:02:40.580 with me. So it was really fun. We read some books there. We brought some books home. I got some
00:02:45.800 books. If you haven't visited your local library, you should do it for a few reasons. One, it's just
00:02:52.580 a really great way to get out of the house if you work from home. You don't have to spend any money.
00:02:57.420 You're getting to, you can work from there. You can read there. You can chill there and it's not
00:03:02.320 like there's no overhead. So that's pretty cool. I am so excited. I can't wait to go back to the
00:03:08.560 library. I also know that a lot of the friends in my community go to the library with their kids.
00:03:12.400 So I should probably coordinate and we can like go there together because that'd be really fun.
00:03:16.120 Let me know if you go to the library too. I'm also almost done with my 30-day challenge for yoga.
00:03:23.100 So I think I talked about this a little bit already, which is that I had fallen out of the swing of
00:03:28.740 things as regards exercise. And I find that the easiest way to get back into it is just to do
00:03:34.400 something consistently every single day. And yoga for me is that thing. I really enjoy like breaking
00:03:41.440 into exercise with yoga because it's not, it doesn't have to take forever. It doesn't make me
00:03:45.840 really sweaty. It doesn't hurt. It's just kind of getting your body used to movement. And yoga with
00:03:52.860 Adrienne, who's on YouTube here, she does these 30-day challenges and they're like between 20 and 30
00:03:58.140 minutes every day. And I just really like them. So I'm on day 27 today, which I'm very stoked about
00:04:05.500 because I made it through. I really did it every single day. I also did a walk every single day,
00:04:09.220 like paired with it. And as soon as I'm done, my plan is to, I think I want to sign up for the sweat
00:04:16.740 app. So if you've used it, let me know in the comments and start doing exercise, weightlifting
00:04:21.760 exercises and stuff from home. Because if I can do like 20 to 30 minutes of exercise at home every
00:04:28.060 day or every other day, then it's very doable for me. And I like exercising. I really like yoga.
00:04:34.300 And now it's helping me transition back into like weightlifting. So that is that. I'd love to know
00:04:40.340 if you've ever watched yoga with Adrienne, if you've ever done yoga or what kind of exercise you like to
00:04:45.260 do. Let me know. I recently watched Little Women. Now, shameless plug for my AV club. My AV club,
00:04:53.180 which is audio visual, is where we watch movies. We all watch them on our own. And then we discuss
00:04:58.400 it as a group. And it is so fun. I've watched movies in a totally different way. My goal with
00:05:04.540 my AV club was number one, to do something that was a little bit more bite-sized, right? Because
00:05:08.980 with a book club, that's a big investment. Not everyone has time to read a full book every month.
00:05:14.020 But most people have time to watch like a two-hour movie once a month. And so I was excited at that
00:05:20.080 prospect. But the other thing about the AV club that I really like is learning to watch movies
00:05:24.700 with an eye towards understanding what Hollywood wants you to see. So that there are certain
00:05:31.340 narratives, there are certain ideologies that they're trying to get through the film and convince
00:05:38.340 you with. And are they successful? Do they convince you? And are you aware what they're trying to do?
00:05:44.300 Are you aware that they are doing something to convince you of an idea? It's, I think,
00:05:49.400 important as viewers for us to know that things aren't always just a story. There's actually
00:05:54.680 something there that they're trying to like change your mind. With that in mind, we watched
00:05:58.760 Little Women. We did the 1933 version and the 1994 version and we compared them. And we're going to be
00:06:04.480 discussing it tonight actually. So if you want to join, sign up now. But it was so interesting to watch
00:06:12.360 these two films. I was actually kind of nervous because I was like, I just watched Little Women. Do I
00:06:16.740 really want to watch Little Women again? The same exact story? Is it just going to be too much?
00:06:21.900 But what's so fascinating? It is so different. The movies are so different. First of all, they choose
00:06:28.320 different plot points to focus on. Second of all, the cinematography of the 1994 version and the 1933
00:06:33.840 version, I mean, they're totally different things. The actors are totally different. The story is just
00:06:39.900 told in a really different way. So if you, even if you don't join A.V. Club, I would recommend
00:06:45.960 watching these two films and just noticing how different they are and what Hollywood was trying
00:06:51.600 to get across in both versions because of the time period. So I watched a few different videos on
00:06:58.500 YouTube comparing and contrasting. I read some things. I also, you know, thought through things
00:07:02.420 myself. And it is really interesting to note what those differences are and how they were trying to
00:07:07.740 appeal to different audiences. So check it out. Also sign up. Join. Come talk to us. And if you
00:07:14.880 have watched Little Women, I'd love to know which version is your favorite because there's like a
00:07:19.060 million. So I'd really like to know which one you've enjoyed the most. On another note, something
00:07:23.580 that has really improved my quality of life is cleaning a little bit every day. I used to kind of
00:07:30.220 let mess build up over the course of the week and then I'd have like one big cleaning day and that
00:07:35.840 it's exhausting. Number one. And number two, throughout the week, you find yourself getting
00:07:40.660 just a little bit more stressed as the house gets a little bit more messy. So lately what I've been
00:07:45.780 doing is every morning I've been spending 15 minutes and just getting the house in order. And it really
00:07:50.880 like lessens my load and also makes me feel really good throughout the day as I walk throughout the
00:07:55.220 house. If I notice something is out of place, then I pick it up. And I just recommend looking around
00:08:00.600 your home and always thinking about where things belong and giving them a home so that you don't
00:08:07.760 have to look at clutter and feel stressed about figuring out where it has to live. So on Twitter,
00:08:12.980 there was a very insane hashtag and I actually don't know how it started. The hashtag Rip Jimmy Fallon.
00:08:20.380 Jimmy Fallon is alive and well. So this was weird. People were kind of saying, why is this going
00:08:27.100 around? I don't know why it went around, but the funny part of the situation was that,
00:08:31.800 okay, I should preface this with, I think Elon Musk is hilarious. He cracks me up. Like seriously,
00:08:39.560 every tweet he writes really makes me laugh. So Jimmy Fallon tweeted at Elon Musk and said,
00:08:47.580 Elon, can you fix this? Hashtag Rip Jimmy Fallon because he was alive. Musk replied, fix what?
00:08:57.100 So funny. And then apparently he then tweeted, wait a second. How do we know you're not an alien
00:09:02.980 body snatcher pretending to be Jimmy? Say something that only the real Jimmy would say. The whole
00:09:08.960 situation cracked me up. Like why did it trend in the first place? But then that whole exchange was
00:09:14.340 super funny. You can look it up. I just thought I would share it because it brightened my day
00:09:19.960 seeing that little exchange. I thought it was very funny. Last but not least, we need to talk about
00:09:25.320 Pete Davidson. So Pete Davidson is now dating Emily Radjikowski. So if you don't know, Pete Davidson
00:09:33.540 is a comedian who looks like, he looks ill. He looks like he not, not great. He does not look great.
00:09:43.780 But he has dated so many like very attractive Hollywood stars and people don't know how he's
00:09:54.340 getting them. I agree. He looks, he's not really funny and he looks to be a mess. And he's only with
00:10:03.900 these women for a short period of time. So it's clear that he's not like a good match. And a lot of
00:10:10.400 people are commenting on like, well, it makes sense. He's funny. Girls like funny. My thing is,
00:10:16.220 I think this is more a comment on the women than it is a comment on him. If you are willing to date
00:10:22.800 a guy who clearly has some problems and has dated a lot of your compatriots,
00:10:31.620 you need to have more self-confidence. Like look for a guy who is going to have longevity,
00:10:40.140 who wants to marry you, who wants to have children with you. Like what is,
00:10:44.200 what is this relationship that he brings to the table? I don't know what he would bring to the
00:10:50.800 table. It does not make sense to me. That's all I have to say, but it is interesting. Like why?
00:10:58.620 But there was a very funny tweet that I have to share. One of the things I saw, which made me
00:11:04.280 laugh, was someone tweeted, the best part of these Pete Davidson stories is they always pair an
00:11:10.940 absolutely flawless photo of the girl with a shot of him that looks like he just got caught dumpster
00:11:15.880 diving behind an Arby's. They're not wrong. So that is it for today's episode of The Scoop. I would
00:11:24.400 love if you would consider subscribing and hitting that notification bell and make sure to leave a
