Classically Abby - WEEKLY VLOGS？ Yes, Please! ｜ Mama Shapiro comes for a visit!

00:00:00.000 My mom is joining us. My plan is to start doing weekly vlogs. I'm generally a kind of shy person.

00:00:06.580 Were you happy about it? I'm very happy.

00:00:14.020 Hi guys! It's been a long time since I've vlogged, but we're back with another vlog,

00:00:19.280 and we have a special guest with us today, my mom. My mom is joining us. She is visiting town,

00:00:27.100 which is super nice, and so we're going to be doing some fun things today, but we're also going to be

00:00:31.180 going just around the house and doing some chores and work, so that's what we'll be up to,

00:00:36.400 but come along with us. We're going to fold some laundry first.

00:00:57.100 So I always love it when my mom comes to visit, so it's really nice. She's actually working in

00:01:08.920 the other room at the moment. She just told me as we were folding laundry, it doesn't take twice as

00:01:14.580 fast to do things when you have another person helping. It takes like four times as fast, which

00:01:20.780 is so true. It normally takes me a little while to fold my laundry, but not today. It was very easy

00:01:27.340 to get everything, to get everything done, because she was there helping. We were just joking around

00:01:32.200 because she was the one who taught me how to fold clothes, but now she folds clothes differently than

00:01:36.540 I do, which I resent, but you know, it's kind of funny. She's very good at folding clothes. I always

00:01:43.500 find my clothing, folding is fine, but maybe just like slightly lumpier.

00:01:47.380 In any case, it's fun to do a vlog again. I haven't vlogged in forever, and my plan is to

00:01:53.760 start doing weekly vlogs, which I have to get into the swing of things because I'm not super used to

00:01:59.560 it. It's kind of weird. You don't notice when you're not a vlogger, but you kind of have to

00:02:05.320 position the camera before you do something normal, and you have to think about, okay, what's the order

00:02:09.440 of my day going to be, and how am I going to bring my camera, and all of that stuff, and it's just a

00:02:15.020 little bit different than, you know, your average normal day, so it's nice that my mom is here so

00:02:21.460 you guys can hang out with someone besides me, and I'm going to do some work, as I mentioned a little

00:02:27.700 bit earlier, and we're going to also hopefully go to Kohl's. We both were looking for a slightly

00:02:35.180 fancier watch, so I, as you guys might know on my channel, I've talked about how much I think

00:02:40.820 watches are important for the classic woman's wardrobe. I don't wear a watch as much as I would

00:02:45.720 like, and when I'm wearing a Fitbit, then of course I'm wearing that instead of a watch, but when I go

00:02:53.300 to like a fancy event, I want to be able to wear a watch when I go that's not distracting, but so that

00:03:00.900 I can look at the time, because as you guys also may know from my channel, I do think it is very rude

00:03:06.500 to pull out your phone to check the time, because it's never just checking the time. You always end

00:03:11.440 up seeing a notification and opening it up, so I don't want to do that. I want to have a nice fancy

00:03:17.700 watch for nice occasions, and my mom was looking for something similar, so we might go to Kohl's and

00:03:21.360 look that up, and we have to make dinner tonight, so maybe we'll show you a little bit of that,

00:03:26.620 and we are doing a live stream Q&A, so by the time this video goes up, that will already have

00:03:32.920 happened, so you guys can check that out on my channel. We'll be answering questions from my

00:03:36.900 Premium Substack subscribers, and just as a reminder, if you are interested in becoming a

00:03:43.080 Premium Substack subscriber, make sure to head to the link in the description box, because you get

00:03:47.680 access to a ton of exclusive content. It's always changing, it's always kind of different, but it's

00:03:54.260 always fun, and it's different than what you're going to get on my channel, so one thing that we're

00:03:59.900 doing over there, not to go on and on about this, but I'm excited about it, is I'm starting a book

00:04:05.260 club, and the first book that we're doing is Persuasion by Jane Austen. I've never read Persuasion,

00:04:09.860 but I've always wanted to, so we're going to do that. We're going to do a discussion, and I'm really

00:04:13.960 looking forward to it, so that's what's going on over on my Substack, but yeah, that's kind of the

00:04:19.860 plan for today. I have to record a video. I have to send out a newsletter. Busy day, but it'll be fun,

00:04:27.780 so let's get back into things. Hello Classic Crew, and welcome to today's video, where we're going

00:04:33.100 to be talking about my new book club. So this is the boring part of my day, where I'm exporting a

00:04:40.800 video. It's not going to take so long, because this one's pretty short, but I have decided to kind of

00:04:47.260 mix up my filming locations for my channel. I think I'm going to be doing some more filming, or just

00:04:52.960 around my house, as opposed to in the studio. I like the diversity of backgrounds that I see on

00:04:58.720 other people's channels, and I think that the reason I started filming in my studio specifically

00:05:04.520 was because that's what beauty YouTubers do, and I watched a lot of beauty YouTube when I first started 0.54

00:05:10.180 my channel, and they have like one space in their studio where they do their makeup, and it's all

00:05:14.360 they're zoomed in, because they're doing their makeup there, but when you're filming, and you're just

00:05:20.300 talking about ideas, like you don't need to be either A, zoomed in super close, or B, in the same

00:05:25.520 location with like amazing lighting. I mean, the lighting is nice in here, but it doesn't have to be

00:05:31.000 like perfect so that you can see how things apply. I mean, if I do a makeup tutorial, then maybe, but

00:05:38.060 otherwise it's not super necessary. But yeah, I've been editing a video for my sub stack, and I recorded

00:05:43.780 one, and my mom is still working, so we're just kind of taking the day, doing some work. We both work

00:05:49.940 remotely, so that's nice. It's nice to have someone else in the house when I'm trying to get my work

00:05:53.760 done, but I think soon, this is going to take me, my work is probably going to take me, I keep gesturing

00:06:00.200 at my computer over here, my work is probably going to take me about another, let's say 45 minutes,

00:06:09.120 and then we might be able to like go outside. It's so hot out. Oh my gosh, it's going to be,

00:06:16.080 it's going to be so hot. I was thinking about showing you guys what I eat, because I know that's

00:06:19.960 like a part of vlogging, but my meals lately have just been kind of random, so I had a nectarine,

00:06:26.480 in case you were interested, but that's, that's pretty much the extent of like what I'm up to.

00:06:32.960 So yeah, I'll follow up with you when I'm done with my work. I was realizing that most of the day

00:06:39.180 you have not been in this video, because you've been working, but you also wanted to talk a little

00:06:45.680 bit about why you're not super comfortable on camera. Oh, I'm generally kind of shy person.

00:06:52.560 Yes, and well, you're shy depending on the situation. Yeah, like when it comes to business,

00:06:58.400 like negotiating a business deal, I'm not shy. No, at all. But when it comes to being on camera,

00:07:05.920 um, not, not something I'm super comfortable with. Yeah. As a general rule. You've been good with me

00:07:12.560 in the live streams we've done on my channel. Um, and I think maybe it's because it's like direct

00:07:17.920 question answer kind of thing. Yeah. But I mean, you were a little nervous the first time. Yeah,

00:07:22.820 I still get nervous about it. It's not something I'm super comfortable with, but, um, well, it's nice

00:07:28.480 that you're doing, I'm good. It's part of the job. Well, I, I like having you here. So well, my whole,

00:07:35.200 my whole career was in TV and it was always behind the camera. Right. Never once did I go in front of

00:07:40.880 the camera during my whole TV career. No, I know it's, it's so funny. So funny what we get used to.

00:07:46.220 So we're sitting here by the way in our, in my sunroom and, uh, it looks like the clouds are about

00:07:51.660 to roll in for a huge thunderstorm. So we're going to see how much of the rest of the day we can vlog

00:07:55.900 because I don't, I don't know. But also I wanted to mention that my mom is wearing the necklace that I

00:08:01.680 designed with Rachel and jewelry, which is the necklace and the bracelet. And I love it. And I

00:08:07.460 enjoy it all the time. Well, I really like it on you. So I'm glad you like it too. We're going to

00:08:13.240 check the weather report and see, because last night, funny story, we wanted to go to TJ Maxx last

00:08:19.880 night. It's my favorite place to shop. I've talked about this. We shop there a lot. Yes. And, uh,

00:08:25.080 actually both of us are wearing dresses that we got there and I'm wearing the earrings that you've

00:08:30.040 got for me. Um, and we got there and immediately it started to pour, like not just rain, like

00:08:38.020 straight up thunderstorm. Uh, we couldn't get out of the car for about 25 minutes. Yes. So we had a

00:08:44.700 nice talk. We did. We had a nice talk. Um, worked out well. And then we ran across the road to get to

00:08:53.920 TJ Maxx and both got our shoes completely soaked. Yes. Uh, but by the time that we left,

00:08:58.680 it wasn't raining anymore. So it was all good. It ended up being, it was a good shopping expedition.

00:09:04.320 So hopefully we don't have the same issue today. Hopefully we can just do some errands. Uh, I didn't

00:09:10.080 mention, I don't think that I need to pick up a dress, uh, that I'm wearing to a wedding in a couple

00:09:15.560 of weeks. The, I've said on my channel before that one of the modesty hacks that I do is if I buy a dress

00:09:21.540 and the slits too high, I take it to a tailor and they sew it up and it's really inexpensive.

00:09:26.800 I'm getting a, I have a very nice gown, um, and they're charging me $13. Oh my goodness. Yeah.

00:09:33.620 To sew up the slit, which is awesome. I mean, I left the slit open at the knee, um, just so it's

00:09:38.560 easier to walk, but I still, I mean, they're just, it's a nice fabric and everything and they're

00:09:43.600 sewing it up for me. Wow. That's great. Yeah. So we're doing that. And then I already told you all

00:09:48.000 the rest of it. So let's see what we can get done. Okay. Let's do it.

00:09:51.820 Do it.

00:09:53.020 Do it.
