00:00:00.000 Here are two great American misinterpretations, freedom of religion and American diversity.
00:00:05.260 Freedom of religion never meant a religious free-for-all. Our nation was founded by Christians. 0.88
00:00:09.920 In 1789, the first gathering of Congress included men. 81 of them, all of them, were Christians.
00:00:15.880 Freedom of religion meant freedom among Christian denominations. The American settlers had recently
00:00:20.600 come from Europe, where Christians were often persecuted by other Christians. Freedom of
00:00:24.760 religion meant Baptists didn't have to fear being jailed by Anglicans, and Presbyterians
00:00:28.760 didn't have to fear being attacked by Roman Catholics, and Roman Catholics didn't fear
00:00:33.040 being taxed by Eastern Orthodoxy. None of the founders ever imagined that freedom of religion
00:00:38.020 would be used to protect the rights of anti-Christian religions, satanic temples or 0.98
00:00:42.480 Hindu shrines or Muslims. Think about this with me. Why would the founders have the protection 0.92
00:00:47.420 of foreign religions in view when the immigration policy established at that very same congressional
00:00:52.140 gathering was limited to free white men of good moral character? Why would they envision Islam
00:00:57.400 or Hinduism, when no Hindu, Muslim, or African nation were even allowed to immigrate to America.
00:01:03.240 Second, the idea that America has always been diverse is true, but it was a diverse group of
00:01:08.320 white Europeans who shared similar ancestry, values, and culture. Among that, they also shared
00:01:13.980 the Christian faith. We had people from England and Germany and Scotland and Ireland and Norway.
00:01:19.120 Between 1620 and 1965, America was 90% European, and non-European immigration was extremely rare.
00:01:25.680 Today, these two ideas have been exploited and reinterpreted to protect things like Sharia
00:01:30.640 law or pagan demonic temples, shrines, and import millions of foreigners who do not share
00:01:35.820 our culture, hate Christianity, and have no intentions of assimilating to Western values. 0.79
00:01:41.240 America's historic identity is not a religious pluralism or a multicultural hellhole.
00:01:46.320 America is a Christian European settlement to the glory of God.
