In the wake of Charlie Kirk s murder, the left has been quick to mock, mock, and mock the victim's family, friends, and supporters of his killer. What does this say about the state of the country and the culture at large?

00:00:00.840 This week I heard multiple Republican and even Christian Senators and media personalities say out loud,
00:00:07.060 we need peace and unity in this nation.
00:00:16.340 But how can there be peace with those who burn our churches?
00:00:19.840 How can there be peace with those who mutilate our children and sodomize our town and assassinate our people?
00:00:26.220 How can there be peace?
00:00:30.000 Our leaders are calling for peacekeeping as if the majority of the left is some kind of largely reasonable peace-seeking group
00:00:38.500 ready for conversations to unite under our very much shared values.
00:00:45.940 The problem is this.
00:00:48.200 This week, the left exposed themselves.
00:00:53.100 They exposed themselves.
00:00:56.380 The assassin was not some lone radical.
00:01:00.000 this outlier
00:01:02.840 while the remaining liberals
00:01:05.700 on the left are some
00:01:07.560 just they're more moderate
00:01:10.360 tens of thousands openly mocked
00:01:16.100 Charlie Kirk's murder
00:01:17.120 some even creating posters of him
00:01:20.280 with a picture and illustration of a bullet hole in his neck
00:01:23.740 freedom shirts were sold on Amazon
00:01:28.040 with bloodstains on them
00:01:30.780 3D printed figurines with blood pouring out of his neck were made.
00:01:37.240 Hundreds of thousands of people applauded these posts and videos on social media.
00:01:45.360 One post with 587,000 likes as of Friday night featured a woman clapping.
00:01:59.780 And it said, Charlie Kirk's daughter is going to grow up without a father who thinks women should keep their rapist's baby.
00:02:07.860 Another account posted, can Erica please be next? 0.70
00:02:14.160 Then the two children can be placed with foster parents who will have them properly educated in growing up hating their own parents.
00:02:22.780 Last night, with over 137,000 likes, a post said of Erica,
00:02:27.740 I'm glad she's speaking so everyone can stop pitying this woman 0.97
00:02:32.320 Because unsurprisingly, she's a witch too 0.87
00:02:36.820 What we're learning is that it's not the radical left 0.95
00:02:43.460 It's just the left
00:02:47.940 We used to dismiss their rhetoric as exaggerated emotion
00:02:53.700 Maybe it's some sort of hyperbolic language
00:02:58.380 They can't possibly mean what they say, right?
00:03:04.460 No
00:03:05.140 They mean every single word
00:03:08.920 G.K. Chesterton once said
00:03:12.280 The modern man will not burn you for holding an opposing opinion
00:03:17.620 He will merely sneer at you
00:03:20.400 but if that modern man had lived in an age without law
00:03:24.640 he would have burned you and quite cheerfully
00:03:27.700 since most christians hold the same convictions of charlie kirk
00:03:33.660 his death exposes this kind of sobering truth
00:03:40.720 that people are willing to kill you for what you believe
00:03:44.900 if they're willing to kill charlie i believe that plus more
00:03:48.940 it's not just one lone assassin it's hundreds of thousands who would do the same to you
00:04:00.920 and laugh at your death if it weren't restrained by law
00:04:05.000 we have two rival cultures in our country right now two rival cultures or should i say
00:04:17.700 two rival religions, Christian and pagan.
00:04:23.900 The question I have for the American church is this.
00:04:28.020 Can light have fellowship with darkness?
00:04:32.720 Can conservatives have fellowship with liberals?
00:04:36.100 Can the left unite with the right?
00:04:41.440 One Christian commentator said this week,
00:04:44.020 How do you fix a country where millions of people on one side want the other side dead?
00:04:52.420 One Christian historian said,
00:04:55.300 When two groups hold opposing core values that violate one another,
00:05:00.600 history shows it never ends in coexistence.
00:05:03.820 It ends in separation or war.
00:05:06.780 ecclesiastes 3.8 tells us there is a time to love and a time to hate
00:05:16.520 a time for war and a time for peace
00:05:21.260 what time is it
00:05:24.960 what time is it
00:05:29.760 is it a time for peace as senator katie boyd brit has called for
00:05:36.280 Is peace and love possible under our current national circumstances?
00:05:45.560 We called for peace.
00:05:47.540 They burned our cities.
00:05:49.520 We called for peace.
00:05:51.240 They tore down our monuments.
00:05:53.040 We called for peace.
00:05:54.920 They shot Trump.
00:05:56.620 We called for peace.
00:05:57.900 They burned down our churches.
00:05:59.620 We called for peace.
00:06:00.980 They shot Charlie Kirk.
00:06:06.280 personally, and I say this with great sorrow,
00:06:10.360 I do not believe it's a time for peace
00:06:13.020 or love.
00:06:17.380 I believe it's a time for righteous hate
00:06:19.700 and holy war.
00:06:22.740 And I want to qualify that statement.
00:06:27.140 Psalm 139, 21-22 says,
00:06:30.660 Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord?
00:06:33.600 And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
00:06:36.280 I hate them with a complete hatred.
00:06:38.440 I count them as my enemies. 0.84
00:06:41.480 Not a lot of pastors have shared that passage.
00:06:47.800 One man said this week,
00:06:49.480 people deny a time for war because they are afraid.
00:06:55.060 They are like a man who in a confrontation thinks,
00:06:57.860 maybe if I deescalate, he won't hit me.
00:07:02.260 But we have learned over and over again
00:07:04.220 that he does hit, and he hits hard.
00:07:08.900 If they say that you will have no fight with them,
00:07:15.340 they will feast, and they will begin to kill more and take more, end quote.
00:07:22.120 In other words, peacemaking often comes through conflict.
00:07:28.220 C.J. Engel said this week,
00:07:30.140 Most people don't understand the political and social costs
00:07:32.780 of what it requires to restore order in America, end quote.
00:07:37.880 I think he's correct.
00:07:40.500 But as a pastor, I don't need to concern myself
00:07:45.120 with the political and social aspects directly.
00:07:49.300 What I do need to concern myself with is how Christians ought to behave 0.58
00:07:53.060 in what I would call a wartime culture. 1.00
00:07:56.960 A wartime culture.
00:07:58.820 So how do you hate without sin?
00:08:05.460 How do you war without breaking God's law?
00:08:10.260 What can you do beyond what you're doing?
00:08:14.340 That's the question across social media today.
