Calvinism teaches that God elects his own people and leaves the rest to his wrath. Calvinism is not about persuasion, it is about justice and mercy. God is not obligated to save any of us, but he can elect to save whomever he wills.

00:00:00.000 John MacArthur recently said, I became a Calvinist because the Bible gave me no other option.
00:00:07.420 Charles Spurgeon said, Calvinism is the gospel and nothing else. So why do so many people reject
00:00:12.260 Calvinism? Because it requires us to realize that we have no involvement in the cause of our
00:00:16.620 salvation. It's the biblical truth that we don't choose Christ, but Christ chooses us. Calvinism
00:00:22.020 proves that salvation is not about persuasion. You can't convince people to come to Christ.
00:00:26.680 No, the Savior does all the saving.
00:00:29.140 Now, the five points of Calvinism were not invented by John Calvin.
00:00:32.220 It was simply Calvin who communicated these biblical doctrines more clearly than anyone else before him.
00:00:37.360 They teach that all people are born enslaved to sin, hating God.
00:00:40.920 They teach the biblical truth that all people deserve hell and nobody wants to be saved.
00:00:45.420 They teach that God is not obligated to save any of us.
00:00:48.280 But they also teach that God, in his mercy, before the foundation of the world, elected to save some.
00:00:53.980 Namely, that God will save his people and will leave the rest to justice.
00:00:57.960 But there is no injustice here, just justice and mercy.
00:01:01.460 In the same way that God elected the Israelites and not the Philistines,
00:01:04.440 he elects the people of his church and leaves the rest to his wrath. 0.64
00:01:08.340 There is no wrong here.
00:01:09.820 God is God and can exercise justice upon whomever he wills and can save whomever he wills.
00:01:15.120 So is Calvinism biblical?
00:01:16.460 Yes.
00:01:16.800 It's the biblical idea that without God loving me, electing me, predestining me, calling me,
00:01:21.740 justifying me and preserving me, I would perish. This is why Paul can say,
00:01:26.300 for from him and through him and to him are all things.
