00:00:00.000 Welcome to Real Christianity. Today we are talking about yoga, Enneagram, and the progressive church.
00:00:08.140 Alright guys, a lot of you have been asking me for this episode, and I tried to fit like three topics into one episode.
00:00:16.120 So, I'm doing this as a solo show, just so I can fit a lot in, and this is also going to be an audio-only episode, just so I can reference my notes here.
00:00:25.600 um first welcome to the show if this is your first time here we're happy to have you if you're a new
00:00:32.180 listener um man we're just excited to have you part of the real christianity family if you're
00:00:36.540 been here for a while and you've listened to several episodes we'd ask that you leave a review
00:00:41.720 you just go to itunes you just need to tap the stars you don't even need to write anything but
00:00:45.560 if you do write something we will read it and that really does help the exposure of the show
00:00:51.240 We have something like 4,500, maybe more reviews, and it is a huge part of the success of this show.
00:00:59.020 Additionally, I wanted to tell you guys about Ultimate Marriage.
00:01:03.360 Again, I remind people most of the time to pick up or to go to ultimatemarriage.com if you want to be a part of our six-week marriage mentor program.
00:01:11.960 It's a really effective program for building a biblical marriage.
00:01:15.400 It's Veronica and I. It's six videos, PDFs, tasks for you and your spouse to do.
00:01:23.860 It's a really great program, and I'd say it's very affordable.
00:01:26.960 It's something that you want to do proactively.
00:01:29.420 You don't want to do it when your marriage is already hurting.
00:01:31.900 So the other thing I want to talk about is donations.
00:01:35.160 This is a new year, 2020.
00:01:37.320 We have some great visions for an online church planting school that's, I guess, online and in-person hybrid model for here in Bend, Oregon, as well as an online program.
00:01:49.660 We are redesigning the entire ReLearn.org site to bring more resources, more free resources, articles, podcasts, videos, more digital content.
00:01:58.740 I'm trying to publish at least one more, maybe two more books this year.
00:02:05.260 But the main initiative is, yes, getting this church planting school created and continuing to bring great content.
00:02:12.080 This stuff, guys, it costs a significant amount of money to continue to proclaim the gospel, to continue preaching in this capacity.
00:02:23.100 And we just ask that if you guys are already supporting, which many of you guys are supporting at, you know, 10 bucks a month, 20 bucks a month, if you guys are regular consumers of the show.
00:02:32.120 it is a huge blessing to our team. And we would love to hire somebody. We're looking to hire a
00:02:38.280 donor manager. Right now, it's kind of like, I'll sometimes do that. And Christy will sometimes do
00:02:45.460 that. And Simon will sometimes do that. We only have really three people. I'm the only full-time
00:02:50.280 person in the ministry. We have two part-time people and some contractors. We'd like to grow
00:02:54.760 our team to build the stability of the ministry out. And so your donations are really important.
00:03:00.520 So we just ask that you go before the Lord and whatever he would have you do, you know, and it might just be prayer, but every little bit counts.
00:03:09.440 It could be a one time donation. It could be 10 bucks a month. You just go to relearnchurch.org forward slash donate and that could be done there.
00:03:18.860 So thank you guys so much just for even considering us there. It will be put to good use and we will be good stewards of those resources.
00:03:25.660 So, guys, let's dive in on these topics.
00:03:29.640 I'm going to actually open up with kind of the progressive church, and then we'll kind of lean into yoga and then to the Enneagram.
00:03:35.680 So, if you're not aware, the church, you know, is kind of a hot mess in the West. 0.63
00:03:42.080 And, you know, biblical Christianity is, I would say, becoming the minority and the enemy is kind of birthing a variety of perverted and distorted versions of the gospel every year, it seems like.
00:03:55.860 Doug Wilson, he recently said in one of his podcasts, he said, 0.62
00:04:00.560 As it is not possible to make a good omelet with rotten eggs, even with the best recipe and superb equipment, you cannot make a sound church with a rotten gospel.
00:04:12.120 We're a deceived church because we're an untrained church.
00:04:17.100 And we're an untrained church because we would rather be entertained as a church
00:04:22.220 than be a church that loves doctrine and wants to study the word.
00:04:28.700 And what I'm saying is this, that the reason Christians are falling prey to all these heresies
00:04:34.220 that are part of kind of this progressive movement,
00:04:37.640 the prosperity gospel, the workspace gospel, the repentance-free gospel,
00:04:42.160 you know, all these things that we'll be discussing today in addition to this. 0.71
00:04:46.920 You know, on top of that, I would say even the cultural fads
00:04:49.900 is because many people in the church don't know their Bible.
00:04:54.100 And in turn, they don't understand the gospel.
00:04:56.660 And when you don't understand God's truth and God's grace,
00:04:59.420 you can't understand God's expectations for how he calls us to think, act, and speak.
00:05:05.700 And as a result, the church becomes vulnerable to all types of counterfeit doctrines and cultural ideas and experiences.
00:05:10.960 And that's what we're seeing today.
00:05:12.700 So to give us, you know, an objective point of reference, let's use biblical Christianity as our mark for a second.
00:05:19.780 And all Christians should aim to be biblical because the only reason they heard the gospel or heard about the gospel is because it was passed down in writing.
00:05:34.800 And what I mean by that is, you know, we're Christians because we heard the gospel by means of the Bible.
00:05:40.980 And how weird is it to accept the gospel from the pages of the Bible while rejecting other doctrines from the same book?
00:05:48.940 That's weird, right?
00:05:50.100 So that would be cherry picking like, oh, I like the saved by grace through faith, but I don't like this passage four verses over.
00:05:58.320 Now, if you're going to hear the gospel from the Bible, then why aren't you going to accept the rest of the Bible as well?
00:06:05.600 So from that position, let's start.
00:06:08.680 I want to first contrast against biblical Christianity, progressive Christianity, or what some are calling moderate Christianity against, again, biblical Christianity.
00:06:20.760 And I think after that, we'll touch on yoga and then the Enneagram.
00:06:24.840 So to be a moderate Christian is just like a sanitized way of saying you're lukewarm Christian or you're a lukewarm Christian.
00:06:34.760 So this, it espouses the idea that if you're, you know, a quote, well-balanced Christian that can find harmony with the culture, that you're somehow a more evolved or woke or enlightened form of a Christ follower.
00:06:51.460 And this idea is not found in scripture.
00:06:54.160 Like, you know, in fact, Jesus says in Revelation 3.16, 0.99
00:06:58.860 So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold or hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.
00:07:05.220 And so God would rather you deny him fully than accept him partially. 0.97
00:07:09.360 And so God hates partiality and half-heartedness.
00:07:12.680 James 4.4 says,
00:07:13.740 You adulterous people, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?
00:07:19.440 Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
00:07:23.840 Romans 12, 11 says,
00:07:25.520 Do not be slothful in zeal.
00:07:28.580 Be fervent in spirit.
00:07:29.980 Serve the Lord.
00:07:31.240 2 Timothy 3, 12.
00:07:32.800 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
00:07:37.880 Okay, so let's just kind of put the moderate Christianity heresy to rest real quick.
00:07:43.080 God wants you to either be on fire for him,
00:07:47.340 or he'd rather you just be cold.
00:07:51.480 He doesn't want you to find a cozy balance of costless,
00:07:54.900 cultural, lukewarm, moderate Christianity.
00:07:58.760 That's not what he's looking for. 0.97
00:08:01.720 So next I want to talk about this segue here,
00:08:05.460 is that moderate Christianity,
00:08:06.700 I want to talk about the term now progressive Christianity
00:08:09.560 or the progressive church.
00:08:11.280 And so to start, you know, the progressive church, a progressive Christianity implies that Christianity evolves.
00:08:19.140 It doesn't evolve.
00:08:20.820 Hebrews 13, 8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
00:08:25.100 Malachi 3, 6 says, for I, the Lord, do not change.
00:08:29.060 Isaiah 40, verse 8, the grass weathers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
00:08:35.720 Jesus closes with a bomb in Matthew 24, 35.
00:08:38.660 heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. In my book, Real Christianity,
00:08:46.220 that just came out a couple months ago, I referenced a quote from Dustin Benj that said,
00:08:50.760 the scriptures don't change, they change us. If we disagree with something we read in scripture,
00:08:55.500 it's not the Bible that needs to change, it's us. And so look, the enemy is good at his job,
00:09:01.240 and he's going to choose some attractive words for his campaign. Like who doesn't want progress,
00:09:08.000 right? Satan's core job is deception, and he's all about counterfeits. And remember, a good
00:09:14.260 counterfeit looks like the real thing. And the only way to detect a counterfeit is to really
00:09:22.200 have a deep and, I would say, certain understanding of the real thing. And again, this is why we need
00:09:27.860 to be studying, not just reading the Word of God. And we need to be studying it not like, you know,
00:09:34.800 we're we're sola scriptura meaning that we the central authority is scripture alone but we're
00:09:41.080 not so low scriptura meaning that we're only looking at the bible we're not reading any other
00:09:46.580 theological books we're not we're not talking to anybody else we're not it's not me and my bible
00:09:50.540 me my bible in the corner theology it's it's my bible looking about historical theological like
00:09:56.400 what has the church history through the holy spirit already determined is truth that aligns
00:10:02.160 with scripture and your understanding like that's important like what is classic historic
00:10:06.780 evangelical christianity um so basically christianity is not progressive it's stationary
00:10:14.740 you cannot progress on what is already perfect and this is different than reforming reforming
00:10:22.300 is bringing the church into alignment with scripture where i would say progressivism
00:10:26.840 is an attempt to bring the church into balance with the culture.
00:10:30.440 It's like someone standing between two enemies,
00:10:33.680 like Christ over here on the left
00:10:35.580 and the culture over here on the right
00:10:37.480 with their hands out hoping to become the bridge.
00:10:41.620 That's progressive Christianity.
00:10:43.040 It's not biblical and it should be called out for what it is.
00:10:46.120 Now, how does progressive Christianity link up with yoga and the Enneagram?
00:10:51.560 Well, there are just, you know,
00:10:54.500 I'm going to say these are just like two examples of how worldly ideas have been accepted and adopted by the progressive church.
00:11:04.320 And by that, I mean these two are unique because it's not just that we have a few Christians doing yoga at a fitness center
00:11:12.460 or that their employer had them take the Enneagram to better understand their personality.
00:11:18.120 No, it's actually quite deeper and I would say much more extreme than that.
00:11:24.500 We have a church who is sanctioning yoga classes.
00:11:29.160 You know, it's called holy yoga or praise moves.
00:11:32.960 The church is hosting these things.
00:11:35.100 It's endorsing this.
00:11:37.400 It's promoting this.
00:11:39.400 We even have pastors who are now doing, you know,
00:11:42.780 and creating an entire like 10-week sermon series on the Enneagram.
00:11:46.800 I've actually seen several pastors do this.
00:11:49.440 And so let's quickly talk about this idea of, quote, holy yoga.
00:11:53.740 first the origin of yoga is vedic and vedic is the precursor religion to hinduism and classical yoga
00:12:04.440 and its poses are really just religious positions of worship to animals mystical qualities and to
00:12:11.340 other gods and the act itself really is a worship act and for that reason it cannot be done in a way
00:12:19.000 that is not spiritual.
00:12:21.140 This is why people have integrated it with churches,
00:12:24.880 because it is spiritual.
00:12:27.500 We don't integrate Pilates and CrossFit at church
00:12:31.180 because they are obviously not spiritual
00:12:33.760 and everyone knows it.
00:12:36.280 And so just understand that point
00:12:38.860 is that the reason that we have yoga at church
00:12:41.200 is because it's basically admitting
00:12:43.680 that it is a spiritual activity.
00:12:46.760 And so just, and there's a reason why we don't do that with other things like Pilates and CrossFit,
00:12:52.340 and you can name a bunch of other examples there.
00:12:55.560 So that's a really important point.
00:12:58.480 You know, the other point is that there's like a birth of this stuff.
00:13:02.320 There's Christian like yoga companies, like one's called Holy Yoga.
00:13:06.120 The other one's, as I mentioned earlier, is called Praise Moves, which again are titanic contradictions.
00:13:11.840 You can't have those things in the same bucket. 0.90
00:13:14.540 it's like kind of like saying you know like holy islam you know in terms of you know using another
00:13:23.640 religion there holy buddhism it's a different thing here and so another fascinating piece of
00:13:30.200 evidence is that true yogis are actually upset that the west has vandalized their religion
00:13:37.400 imagine if the like entire chinese culture for example started taking the practice of
00:13:43.560 christian baptism and communion while denying any religious connection to these sacraments and then 0.93
00:13:49.860 secularizing them in a way that distorts it from the bible it would probably make a bunch of
00:13:56.740 christians upset and again this just points to the reality that yoga is spiritual and yoga's own
00:14:03.740 participants will confirm this i would say try to find a legit yogi who denies the spirituality of
00:14:11.340 yoga you you won't find that but the truth is westernized yoga is not outwardly religious
00:14:20.300 however it is the gateway to its religious sister you know actually here in bend oregon
00:14:30.280 there's a yoga studio that when you join you have to pick your god before you participate in a
00:14:36.960 session. And so it's not like just over in India that this kind of stuff's happening. I actually
00:14:41.960 remember a story, some acquaintances that we had several years ago, they were a part of the church
00:14:48.540 and then all of a sudden they kind of left the church and they didn't recommit to a church.
00:14:54.340 They'd been Christians for many, many years. And I remember noticing the spouse, the woman,
00:15:00.300 started going to yoga classes and sharing about that on the internet. And then I started noticing
00:15:05.320 her uh going to yoga retreats um and then i started noticing uh her make statements that
00:15:13.360 were really you know not scriptural and leaning on this kind of you know yoga uh ideology and
00:15:21.920 theology that is is opposite from scripture and you know it's several years later and last i check
00:15:29.360 They're really not walking in step with God or Christianity.
00:15:34.820 They're very much walking away and finding the solution to their problems in yoga. 0.92
00:15:40.600 And so this is how it happens.
00:15:42.540 Satan is a patient incrementalist.
00:15:45.340 And so he's all about the slow fade.
00:15:47.840 So just want you to kind of be aware of that.
00:15:51.860 But, you know, most Christians are going to say, well, I don't worship the Hindu gods when I do yoga.
00:15:59.360 I worship Jesus when I do yoga.
00:16:02.040 It's, again, kind of like they're trying to tell you
00:16:04.300 that they've redeemed yoga somehow.
00:16:06.740 Basically, they're slapping, you know,
00:16:10.000 God onto their worldly practices,
00:16:12.280 hoping that, you know, by sprinkling some Jesus on it, 0.61
00:16:16.380 God's going to endorse their activity in some way.
00:16:19.180 This is the same heart behind, like, ethical pornography
00:16:23.560 or spouse-approved adultery
00:16:25.760 or evangelism inside the porn convention. 1.00
00:16:28.880 It's lipstick on a pig. 0.99
00:16:31.700 You know, imagine walking into a Muslim mosque and participating in Islam's five daily prayers of Salat. 1.00
00:16:39.880 Okay, but you're really just praying to Jesus.
00:16:42.440 How do you think God feels about that?
00:16:45.520 Well, we don't have to guess because he tells us in his word how he feels about that.
00:16:50.720 So I'm going to look at Deuteronomy 12, 29 through 31.
00:16:55.200 It says,
00:16:55.560 When the Lord your God cuts off before you the nations whom you go in to dispossess, the land of Canaan, 0.76
00:17:02.160 and you dispossess them and dwell in their land, take care that you be not ensnared. 0.87
00:17:09.220 So first it says, take care that you be not, this is command, be ensnared to follow them after they have been destroyed before you.
00:17:17.120 And that you, quote, do not, here, inquire about their gods, saying, how do these nations serve their gods, that I might also do the same?
00:17:24.560 Verse 31, you shall not worship the Lord your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.
00:17:39.420 So first, this passage in Deuteronomy tells us that there is a way to worship the Lord, and it's not by adopting the worship practices of other religions.
00:17:51.260 So that's one thing.
00:17:53.200 And why?
00:17:54.100 Well, he gives you the reason in the text, because the Lord hates what they have done
00:18:00.100 for their gods.
00:18:01.880 And this would include him hating what the people have done for the Hindu gods, which
00:18:08.080 is quite gross if you want to do some research online, but we don't have time to talk about
00:18:11.840 that right now.
00:18:12.520 John 4.24 affirms this same principle in the New Testament when he writes, God is spirit
00:18:20.660 and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
00:18:27.000 Okay, so basically we don't get to worship God the way that we want to worship God.
00:18:31.620 We get to worship God according to truth.
00:18:35.160 And there's actually a really good documentary on this topic.
00:18:37.920 If you guys want to watch it, I think you can get it on Vimeo On Demand for sure
00:18:43.360 and maybe on Amazon Prime.
00:18:45.760 It's called Spirit and Truth.
00:18:47.120 um and it's from um they produce some other calvinist documentaries you guys know that
00:18:53.320 i'm not a calvinist i appreciate the documentary though it's pretty solid so i just take a peek at
00:18:57.580 it um uh the second biblical argument on this yoga thing is found on what we do with our bodies
00:19:06.660 okay so there's this founder of holy yoga her name's brooke boone and in an interview with
00:19:14.260 yoga magazine she responded to a question that said what we do basically you know if what we do
00:19:22.380 with our bodies changes the authenticity of our worship in some way and she responded with well
00:19:28.520 God looks at the heart and not at the body okay so first she's vandalizing first Samuel 16 7
00:19:35.180 yes God looks upon the heart and man looks like on the outward appearance that's what she's kind
00:19:41.080 of referencing there. But he also cares what we do with our bodies. In fact, what we do with our
00:19:47.320 bodies matters regardless if our heart is in the right place or not. And why? Well, 1 Corinthians
00:19:53.620 6, 19 through 20 says, or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is
00:20:00.320 in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Question mark. For you were bought at a
00:20:07.560 price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. Okay, that's just a
00:20:17.120 slam dunk on the argument there, right? It just goes, okay, yeah, we don't get to do what we want
00:20:21.540 with our bodies. Just letting you guys know. Romans 12 tells us that our bodies are to be a
00:20:27.820 living sacrifice to God. And that means we don't do certain things with our bodies out of our love
00:20:36.340 for God. We sacrifice what we would like to do with our bodies as a way to display our worship
00:20:43.980 and devotion to God. And actually in verses 1 and 2 of Romans 12, it says that that's our reasonable
00:20:49.760 service to him. Like, you know, just if you forgot that he basically saved your eternity and saved
00:20:56.980 your life and died for your sins and attributed his righteousness to you so that you could be
00:21:05.240 redeemed. Like just letting you know, it's your reasonable service to do that. That's basically
00:21:09.760 what that verse is telling you. Now, as a Christian, can you do breathing exercises and
00:21:14.980 stretching? Sure. Just don't associate it with the activity of yoga or these kind of, you know,
00:21:23.160 weird contradictions like holy yoga or praise moves and any, I would say, non-Christian mysticism
00:21:28.260 stuff. And again, this is a massive topic that we just don't have time to tackle in this episode.
00:21:35.240 I might put some resources in the show notes at relearn.org.
00:21:42.240 So if you can maybe take a peek at there, I might put some videos or something like that.
00:21:45.860 I've read some cool articles and I'd like to include them there if I can.
00:21:49.840 Now, let's talk about the Enneagram.
00:21:52.860 So we hit two of the three here.
00:21:54.860 And if you haven't heard about the Enneagram, I promise it's coming to a church near you.
00:21:59.900 It's basically a personality assessment and self-discovery tool.
00:22:04.520 And there's a book that's probably the most popular book on the topic right now.
00:22:09.420 It's called The Road Back to You by Ian Cron and Susan Stabile.
00:22:14.020 Suzanne Stabile.
00:22:15.640 And it's probably, you know, yeah, probably the most influential book at the time.
00:22:20.280 I've actually spoken to Suzanne for about an hour to fully understand the Enneagram a few years ago.
00:22:26.480 But in recent years, it's really exploded in the church and is heralded as a Christian self-discovery tool.
00:22:35.820 And at the heart, the problem is really this.
00:22:39.280 The Enneagram is a self-focused tool that promises deep discovery by looking inward.
00:22:47.420 And that stands in contrast to the scriptures, which claims that self is deceptive and bankrupt, and the only true discovery comes from looking outward towards Christ.
00:22:58.920 So it really stands in opposition to the biblical doctrine.
00:23:03.140 And when you read these Enneagram books and listen to the Enneagram stories from today's celebrity pastors, you're bombarded with a lot of these therapeutic ideologies.
00:23:15.680 um and some you know the language that's kind of like you know for love yourself or forgive
00:23:21.280 yourself for loving yourself for finding your true self for you know uh you know be whole or
00:23:29.320 becoming spiritually evolved like these are a big uh part of the language that you're going to hear
00:23:36.360 from those basically the hero of the enneagram is you hence the title of the book the road back to
00:23:42.260 you, right? So the Enneagram, it's like, it's this self-idolatry situation going on here. Now, no
00:23:49.700 pastor is going to market it as an anti-Bible tool to find yourself. Again, they're going to try to
00:23:56.200 sprinkle some Jesus on it and sanitize it for congregational consumption. And ultimately,
00:24:00.840 they're doing the same thing with the Enneagram that the church is doing with yoga. They're taking
00:24:04.600 a pagan and secular practice and Christianizing it. And again, you know, the initial experience
00:24:10.680 with these things aren't so obviously pagan that they, you know, would deter the average
00:24:17.460 Christian from engaging. The thing is, you know, yeah, so they're not so obvious like that. And
00:24:25.260 I'll give you an example. Neither is a bucket of apples to a deer, right? It doesn't look like a
00:24:32.020 bad idea, especially at first glance. But when you realize as a deer that the bucket of apples is in
00:24:38.600 the hunter's backyard you can see that the deer was just baited and ultimately you know the
00:24:46.360 progressive church yoga the enneagram in any form of deviation from i would say a vigilant
00:24:53.000 and scripturally fixed set of doctrines is dangerous not just for what they are
00:24:59.760 but where these ideas are going and and again i i think in many cases these are the bait of satan
00:25:09.340 right they're they're they're slippery slope things that lead to other things that are more
00:25:16.220 serious and sadly when a you know a pastor's salary and the church budget is dependent upon
00:25:23.840 cultural popularity of the sermon preached and the music played it's not long until the pastor
00:25:30.920 starts preparing sermons and messages to please the lost instead of preparing expository sermons
00:25:36.800 to strengthen and edify the saints and so you got a situation here with the church that makes it
00:25:41.920 like it's not focused on the it's not a committed centric church it's a visitor centric church it's
00:25:49.880 It was it's not like we're doing basically we're evangelistically centric church.
00:25:56.240 We're not even really doing church. We're just doing evangelism.
00:25:59.340 And you can show up if you're a Christian, but really it's catered for the visitor or for the baby in the faith.
00:26:06.280 And so we offer all these things that are worldly as some kind of way to show that we're not really that different from the world.
00:26:15.200 and maybe like softening up or making Christianity more palatable
00:26:19.720 that you actually have to die to your desires
00:26:21.860 and pick up a cross and follow Jesus.
00:26:24.520 And so we get ourselves in these situations
00:26:26.560 where we start adopting the practices of the world
00:26:29.220 and we bring them into the church
00:26:30.800 and they lead people to other things.
00:26:35.040 And man, Jesus is so, like, he's so intense about these.
00:26:39.600 Like, he talks about Matthew.
00:26:41.980 I mentioned it in the homeschool episode that I did not long ago.
00:26:45.200 that we need to be careful.
00:26:47.880 Anyone who leads one of these little ones who believe in him away,
00:26:52.400 it's better for that person to get a millstone wrapped around their neck
00:26:55.300 and drown in the sea, is what Jesus says.
00:26:57.260 And so, man, it's shocking to me when pastors endorse and promote things like yoga
00:27:03.860 or the Enneagram that really preach doctrines that are in opposition to Scripture.
00:27:10.760 It's just risky business.
00:27:12.000 So I'm going to leave you with four of about ten direct New Testament commands on being spiritually watchful.
00:27:19.520 So 1 Peter 5.8 says,
00:27:22.300 Be sober-minded. Be watchful.
00:27:23.980 Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
00:27:30.280 1 Corinthians 6.14
00:27:31.980 Be watchful. Stand firm in the faith. Act like men. Be strong.
00:27:37.000 That was obviously written to men.
00:27:38.900 1 Thessalonians 5.6
00:27:40.460 so then let us not sleep as others do but let us keep awake and be sober meaning being sober
00:27:48.160 minded and titus 1 9 which is written to elders shepherds pastors it says he must hold firm to
00:27:56.500 the trustworthy word as taught meaning as taught by the apostles so that he may be able to give
00:28:02.540 instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it and so shepherds
00:28:09.640 If you're listening here, it's your job to make sure that you're guarding the sheep from some of this stuff and that we're not progressing.
00:28:17.240 We're actually fixed on a stationary, biblical, unchanging, historic Christianity.
00:28:22.800 So remain on guard, my friends.
00:28:26.380 Hopefully that was helpful for you guys and we'll be edifying and waking you up and being watchful for these things in your own church.
00:28:33.400 If these things are happening in your church, I would recommend having a conversation, a sit-down conversation with your pastor and with respect and honor, integrity, gentleness, but having a discussion.
00:28:48.380 And depending on their answer, it may require you and your family to leave these churches and try to find a more biblically-centered church.
00:28:58.260 All right.
00:28:58.820 On that note, guys, thank you for listening.
00:29:00.720 Again, if you guys would like to leave a review, you can do that just by tapping on the stars in the iTunes app.
00:29:08.900 And also, if you're interested in leaving a donation in support of our ministry and the work that we're doing here at ReLearn Church,
00:29:15.160 which actually, guys, we are about to change the name to relearn.org.
00:29:20.720 We actually got the domain, and so that's already working and forwarding.
00:29:24.020 So we're going to be calling ourselves relearn.org.
00:29:26.220 We'll tell you more about that later, but just that's kind of a little win that we wanted to share about.
00:29:30.920 So thank you guys for listening today, and we will see you with some great episodes coming up next week.
