00:00:00.000 Hey there.
00:00:00.500 Dan Martell here, serial entrepreneur, investor,
00:00:02.160 and creator of SaaS Academy.
00:00:03.540 In this video, I'm going to teach you
00:00:05.760 how to create confidence, I know it's a crazy topic,
00:00:08.500 when you're full of self-doubt, limiting beliefs,
00:00:12.360 full of fear.
00:00:13.160 And be sure to stay to the end where
00:00:14.560 I'm going to share with you how to watch my confidence creator
00:00:17.840 framework, which I taught at my SaaS Academy Intensive,
00:00:20.360 I think would absolutely serve you
00:00:22.200 if you're looking for even deeper strategies
00:00:25.040 to help get out of the funk, build that confidence
00:00:27.440 and excitement into your business.
00:00:30.000 So the other day, I posted on my Instagram.
00:00:43.880 If you don't follow me, be sure to click below
00:00:45.760 and subscribe to my profile.
00:00:47.360 I'm always trying to find things that resonate with me
00:00:49.280 and share it with the community.
00:00:50.520 And it was a quote that said, I struggle.
00:00:53.160 I just don't quit.
00:00:54.420 Now, I don't believe that you should keep going on when things
00:00:57.480 are just not working.
00:00:58.280 But I do believe that a lot of times
00:00:59.780 people are struggling in their business
00:01:01.520 and they just give up way too friggin' early.
00:01:04.060 So for me, anytime I have challenges or frustrations
00:01:07.940 or issues that come out of my business,
00:01:09.440 one of my other beliefs that are literally
00:01:11.380 written on the wall every time I drive into my garage
00:01:14.500 is become the person who can deal.
00:01:17.280 I think that life shows up and challenges
00:01:19.840 you to become the person who can overcome those challenges.
00:01:24.120 So if anything, try to rewire the mind
00:01:26.560 to look at those as opportunities to grow,
00:01:29.220 because we don't grow when we get what we expect.
00:01:32.060 You know, when I built my company, Spirit, we got sued.
00:01:34.560 I almost lost the whole business a year and a half in.
00:01:36.700 Built Flowtown.
00:01:37.840 We got shut down, essentially, by Facebook,
00:01:40.620 and had to rebuild the business a year and a half in.
00:01:42.540 These are all stories that, for the most part,
00:01:44.360 I don't share publicly, because it's just
00:01:46.320 part of building the business.
00:01:47.460 And if you want to succeed, you just
00:01:49.200 have to go through the motions.
00:01:50.480 And even with Clarity, we launched the business.
00:01:52.740 Big launch, 300 people at a theater.
00:01:55.700 And crickets, nobody was doing any calls.
00:01:58.400 Nothing was working.
00:01:59.900 And I just kept iterating and building and building.
00:02:02.300 So what I want to share with you guys today
00:02:04.100 are four ways that you can overcome
00:02:07.240 those moments of doubt, of frustration,
00:02:10.740 and build confidence that resonates with your team
00:02:14.540 and gets people excited to follow your mission.
00:02:17.020 Number one, product impact.
00:02:19.240 Anytime I feel like I'm not 100% committed to an outcome
00:02:23.540 or I feel like I'm dragging my feet
00:02:24.860 or I just don't get that momentum,
00:02:26.400 or that confidence is really not as present I'd like it to be,
00:02:29.700 I always go back to the impact that I've had with my product.
00:02:34.460 And the best way to do that is case studies or testimonials,
00:02:37.280 or even just reaching out to customers
00:02:38.740 that you know are using the product and having some wins
00:02:40.560 and just say, hey, I'm curious.
00:02:42.680 How has this impacted your business using our solution?
00:02:45.440 Because there's nothing that's going
00:02:47.700 to realign, reset your confidence and excitement
00:02:51.800 for the future than talking to the people
00:02:53.720 that you've actually impacted.
00:02:55.340 I think that, to me, is the first.
00:02:57.200 It's my go-to any time I'm like, am I building the right thing?
00:03:00.800 Am I building the right companies that
00:03:02.240 have any kind of impact that I want?
00:03:04.240 I want to go and talk to the customer, see their case studies,
00:03:06.680 remind myself there's real people
00:03:08.300 on the back end of these solutions
00:03:09.960 that I've built that are getting results for their companies.
00:03:13.660 Number two, achievement list.
00:03:15.920 I believe that every human being in the world
00:03:19.200 has overcome things and have gotten outcomes
00:03:22.640 and achieve different micro successes along the way
00:03:26.420 that made them feel proud.
00:03:28.220 And what happens is, because we keep
00:03:30.680 wanting to go for the next big mountain,
00:03:32.880 that we forget where we came from.
00:03:35.320 And we think that, oh, those are just little things.
00:03:38.240 Learning how to play the guitar at seven years old
00:03:40.620 is not a big deal anymore than I'm an adult
00:03:42.720 and I'm trying to build a multi-million dollar company.
00:03:44.720 But at the time, I think you would
00:03:47.420 agree that that achievement made you proud.
00:03:49.820 So any time before I go into a big meeting,
00:03:52.500 investor, key hires, financing, et cetera,
00:03:56.460 I always want to review my achievement list.
00:03:58.680 So on my phone in Evernote, I've made
00:04:01.800 a list of all the things that I've
00:04:03.300 done since I was a teenager that allowed me to feel proud
00:04:07.540 of my progress, even if it was small.
00:04:10.400 It's the feeling and the connection
00:04:11.940 that I had at that time.
00:04:13.560 And by just reviewing this list, and I don't
00:04:15.840 care if it's five things for you, I want you to do this.
00:04:18.760 I want you to take time.
00:04:19.660 Pause this video.
00:04:20.500 Go write out a list of things that you've
00:04:22.120 achieved over the years.
00:04:23.320 Maybe it's winning a certain tournament in sports,
00:04:26.680 or becoming a big brother, big sister,
00:04:29.980 or participating, helping fundraising for charity,
00:04:33.400 whatever it is for you.
00:04:34.480 Or it could be fundraising.
00:04:35.620 It could be starting your business, overcoming adversity.
00:04:39.340 Whatever it is, put it on that list.
00:04:41.400 Because I'll tell you, it's so easy for us to forget.
00:04:44.920 The things, the challenges that we face,
00:04:47.640 because we're so focused on that mountaintop
00:04:50.380 that we haven't reached yet, that there's so many things
00:04:52.980 that you've done before that can create that fuel
00:04:55.080 and that passion, that energy to move you forward
00:04:58.020 in your business today.
00:04:59.140 So create an achievement list.
00:05:01.300 Put things on.
00:05:02.200 And as you have new things that show up in your life,
00:05:04.780 write them down.
00:05:05.920 Number three, community made.
00:05:08.680 So this is a term that my buddy Jason Gaynard
00:05:10.900 from Mastermind Talks, he calls it for his podcast,
00:05:13.840 it's called this.
00:05:14.880 I mean, I used to think it's the power of peers, right?
00:05:17.360 But it's really just think of community made.
00:05:19.720 If you want to build that confidence,
00:05:21.680 and when you're full of self-doubt,
00:05:23.620 the best way to do that is surround yourself
00:05:25.780 with supportive people.
00:05:27.340 So I have a strategy called the Dream 100.
00:05:29.020 I go in deeper in other videos.
00:05:30.840 You can just search Dan Martell and Dream 100.
00:05:32.660 But for me, the big thing is there's
00:05:35.120 three categories of people that I want to curate around me.
00:05:38.740 There's peers.
00:05:39.680 So that's usually about 60 out of 100 people.
00:05:41.960 60 of those people are folks that are on the same journey
00:05:44.840 as me.
00:05:45.340 Now, that might sound like a lot for you, because like, 60?
00:05:46.880 Where would I find these people?
00:05:48.960 Just take time to build it.
00:05:50.340 But just know that every time you go to an event,
00:05:52.260 or any time you go out to a dinner,
00:05:53.840 or somebody introduces you to somebody over email,
00:05:56.020 take the opportunity to really connect with that person
00:05:59.320 and see if there are potential for the peer side of your Dream
00:06:02.300 100.
00:06:02.720 Second is advisors.
00:06:04.420 These are people that are subject matter experts, domain
00:06:08.100 experts in areas that you're weak at.
00:06:10.100 So it could be finance.
00:06:11.000 It could be HR.
00:06:11.800 It could be enterprise sales.
00:06:13.380 It could be whatever it is.
00:06:15.000 But having those advisors available to you on call,
00:06:18.700 Maybe you have to pay for some of them.
00:06:20.500 But that access will get you feeling super confident
00:06:24.440 about your decisions and your ability to execute,
00:06:26.740 no matter what shows up in your business or your life.
00:06:29.320 And then the third category are mentors.
00:06:31.260 These are people, the way I think of mentors,
00:06:32.860 are people that have been to where you want to go.
00:06:35.280 They're folks you turn to instead of your parents.
00:06:37.820 Now, I don't say that because I don't
00:06:39.000 think your parents love you.
00:06:40.360 I just know, and it's true for me,
00:06:42.280 maybe your level of success, where
00:06:44.820 your vision for your life could end up
00:06:47.340 is not anywhere near where your parents decided to go.
00:06:51.360 Not good or bad.
00:06:52.340 It just is.
00:06:53.040 So to me, my mentors, 10 people.
00:06:55.860 And again, you might have one.
00:06:57.240 You could focus on having several.
00:06:59.260 Are people that you turn to when you get big life decisions.
00:07:02.500 Like, should you move to another city?
00:07:04.300 Should you invest in this business further?
00:07:08.720 The way to think about it is these
00:07:10.320 are the people I'm going to turn to that have already been
00:07:12.520 there for those big life decisions.
00:07:15.240 And if you do that, that's why I think
00:07:16.840 Everybody's community made.
00:07:18.500 Myself, every successful person that you've watched on YouTube
00:07:21.700 or follow on Instagram, they're community made.
00:07:24.040 And there's people behind them.
00:07:25.180 And it's strategically important for you,
00:07:27.560 especially if you want to build that confidence,
00:07:29.380 to surround yourself with folks that are really
00:07:31.040 going to support you in your vision and your life.
00:07:33.800 Number four, serve others.
00:07:36.220 The fastest way to go from feeling not confident
00:07:40.060 to building this sense of confidence,
00:07:42.860 even when you're full of self-doubt,
00:07:44.320 is by helping somebody else.
00:07:45.840 It might sound weird because you're like, OK,
00:07:47.800 why would I reach out to somebody else
00:07:49.560 if I'm not feeling good about where I'm at right now?
00:07:52.160 Here's what I know is you know way more about what you do
00:07:55.700 than you realize.
00:07:56.940 And any time you have the opportunity
00:07:59.360 to serve somebody else that's one or two steps behind you,
00:08:02.840 not only will it remind you how incredible you are,
00:08:05.740 it'll serve that person in a way that'll get them excited.
00:08:08.580 And guess what happens?
00:08:09.640 It adds the confidence back into your mindset.
00:08:12.760 And I think that is the perfect win-win in the world.
00:08:15.940 So anytime you're in a funk, anytime you're
00:08:17.860 feeling like you're not making the progress you want,
00:08:19.820 anytime your confidence is shattered a little bit,
00:08:23.520 ask yourself, who can I go help?
00:08:25.600 Who can I serve?
00:08:26.500 And by doing that, you're going to bring that energy forward
00:08:30.580 into the thing you got to go do.
00:08:32.240 And it sounds so counterintuitive,
00:08:34.540 but it is the fastest, most powerful way
00:08:37.400 to make that happen in your life.
00:08:39.080 So I just want to share that because I know for me,
00:08:41.800 doing these videos, speaking at conferences,
00:08:44.240 coaching the clients I get to serve,
00:08:46.560 in many ways, it helps me more than it helps them
00:08:50.180 because it continues to add that energy to my day.
00:08:53.240 So I hope that makes sense.
00:08:54.660 So quick review, be sure to start off with one,
00:08:57.140 product impact.
00:08:58.420 Review the customers you've been serving.
00:08:59.840 Two, build your achievement list.
00:09:01.760 Commit to me today to write those down.
00:09:04.040 Three, remember your community made
00:09:06.640 and strategically designing those people
00:09:08.600 you need to have show up in your life.
00:09:10.260 And number four, when you're down,
00:09:11.960 focus on serving other people.
00:09:13.980 And it will transform your mindset in near real time.
00:09:18.140 As I mentioned at the beginning of this video,
00:09:19.500 if you want to go deeper and get a full strategy
00:09:22.480 on how to create confidence, I have a framework called
00:09:24.700 the Confidence Creator.
00:09:25.980 I taught it to my SaaS Academy, my high-end coaching clients
00:09:30.000 at our last intensive.
00:09:30.940 And I want to give you access.
00:09:31.940 You can click the link below to watch
00:09:33.780 that full 45 minutes of training where
00:09:36.560 I go into some deep challenges I face in my business
00:09:40.340 that I've never shared public before.
00:09:42.140 You can click the link below to watch that
00:09:43.820 and get access to the Confidence Creator Framework.

00:09:51.780 think this video could serve, feel free to share it
00:09:53.420 with them directly.
00:09:54.640 As per usual, I want to challenge you
00:09:55.940 to live a bigger life and a bigger business.
00:09:57.880 And I'll see you next Monday.
00:09:59.640 I don't know.
00:10:00.220 I just think certainty.
00:10:01.160 I think marching.
00:10:02.120 Oh, a tank.
00:10:03.300 We need to ride the tank.
