00:00:00.000 Yeah, who doesn't want Ryan Reynolds to read bedtime stories for their kids?
00:00:08.560 Hi and welcome to Flossom Talk. I'm Jashti Flohr, journalist, Hollywood truth teller and your voice
00:00:13.460 of reason in a town built on delusion. Okay, so there's only one thing that's better than reading
00:00:19.360 stories to your family and that is Ryan Reynolds reading stories to your family. Yes, he is now
00:00:28.560 reading bedtime stories on Nickelodeon. You won't believe this. Also, we have to talk about this
00:00:35.460 photo from the promotion of It Ends With Us that started recirculating again with the cast baking
00:00:41.540 and especially look at what Isabella Ferrer is doing here. Let's also talk about that text exchange that
00:00:48.480 the Sony executive had with Ryan Reynolds and when he's confronted about that by Justin Baldoni's
00:00:55.160 attorney. Yeah, this is quite funny. Okay, so let's jump into this bedtime stories thing with
00:01:00.840 Ryan Reynolds. When this came up in my feed on Instagram yesterday from Entertainment Tonight,
00:01:05.620 I was like, is this a joke? Is this a spoof? But apparently it's not. So Ryan Reynolds did a deal
00:01:12.300 with Nickelodeon apparently where he's going to read bedtime stories for kids every night. I think
00:01:18.820 it's 7pm or something. It starts on March 2nd and it's 10 episodes of Ryan reading from this book.
00:01:28.740 It's going to be on the Nick Jr. channel. So it is for children and it says here in the press release
00:01:35.060 that in the series Reynolds reads new and classic bedtime stories as the tales magically comes to life
00:01:41.040 around him creating a warm, playful and imaginative wind-down experience for kids and parents to enjoy
00:01:50.220 together.
00:01:50.960 Ryan Reynolds is taking over your bedtime routine.
00:01:53.960 Hello, hello, piglet.
00:01:55.260 Yep, that Ryan Reynolds.
00:01:56.780 So the trailer was attached and I clicked on the trailer and that link got me to YouTube and I just
00:02:04.600 realized that the YouTube video from Nickelodeon, and Nickelodeon has like millions and millions and
00:02:10.180 millions of subscribers, it's not public. It is unlisted still. So you can only get to, so you can
00:02:17.260 only see the YouTube video if you have the direct link to it. Also, of course, the comment section is
00:02:22.880 shut off. So I feel like this was a deal that Nickelodeon could not get out of, but they had to
00:02:28.860 commit to it. So they were just like, let's just put it out there and hope no one would even notice it.
00:02:33.900 Because why would you put a promotional video for something you want people to watch
00:02:37.760 and hide it on YouTube? It makes zero sense to me. It says here that it was created by
00:02:44.560 Reynolds and George Dewey. The first season of Bedtime Stories with Ryan was directed by
00:02:50.660 Vincent Pion. So I'm assuming this is the first season and I'm assuming there won't be more.
00:02:57.060 And it's of course produced by Ryan Reynolds' company. I was really entertained reading all the
00:03:02.780 comments on Instagram when Entertainment Tonight published the story yesterday. I couldn't find
00:03:08.900 any comments of people who were actually excited about this. And now that we know who Ryan Reynolds
00:03:14.220 really is, after reading those text messages and emails, how he was threatening and harassing people.
00:03:20.020 And on top of that, what he was doing to his own daughter in the Deadpool movie, when he basically
00:03:26.380 forced her to say this line that's so R-rated that I can't even repeat it here on my channel.
00:03:33.840 Basically, Ines, who I think at that time was like nine years old, she had to say to Deadpool,
00:03:41.880 take your D out of Wolverine's mouth. And she didn't want to say. There is a behind the scene video
00:03:48.940 where Ryan Reynolds and Sean Levy, his BFF, they're talking about this scene specifically
00:03:55.340 with Ines, where Ryan said that she didn't want to say it. And we had to do that take about 50 times.
00:04:02.040 And I had to threaten her to tell her, you know, if you don't want to say it, I'll find someone else.
00:04:06.500 And then at the end, she ended up doing it. Also, the drama last year on the red carpet at Toronto
00:04:12.340 Film Festival, when Ryan was being rude to this kid, there were headlines everywhere saying like,
00:04:18.200 why was he so rude to this little boy, this reporter that was on the red carpet who wanted
00:04:23.260 to ask him a question. And Ryan just like brushed him off like, hey, what's your question? Let's just
00:04:27.700 get to the question here. And then he was like, ha ha ha. Like, I'm a monster. What's your question
00:04:32.680 for me, buddy? Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Let's skip to the question. So to me, when I think
00:04:38.800 about Ryan Reynolds and kids, I see a man that always just makes fun of kids. He doesn't take them
00:04:45.240 seriously. He makes fun of kids in front of other adults. And I think that's a terrible example.
00:04:52.340 And why on earth would anyone want to listen to Ryan Reynolds reading bedtime stories? I'm sure that
00:04:58.660 Nickelodeon signed this deal with Ryan way before this drama started. If they had seen those text
00:05:05.240 messages that he sent to Sony and to WME and the language he used in those text messages, why would
00:05:12.040 they want him for a project like this for kids? There are a few stories online today talking about
00:05:17.880 this. And one of them is mentioning the other projects that Ryan has coming out in 2026. And
00:05:23.660 they mentioned Animal Friends and Mayday. And as we know, Animal Friends has been postponed like
00:05:29.900 three times already. And the same for Mayday. Mayday has been, it's an Apple TV production. They shot it
00:05:38.820 already in 2024. But they also been just like pushing the release of that film. They also
00:05:44.620 mentioned here that there are rumors that the 49 year old Vancouver native will return to one of his
00:05:50.220 most iconic roles of all time, Deadpool, when Avengers Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
00:06:00.340 The film will mark the biggest Marvel studio crossover feature to date and could see Reynolds
00:06:05.380 reprise his role as Deadpool, blah, blah, blah. When I read this, I was like, can you imagine for the
00:06:10.720 other actors in the Avengers? And they set up the press junket days where they always pair people up.
00:06:18.220 I've done a lot of junkets for the Avengers. And they always pair people like three or four people
00:06:23.100 together. And then you read on the call sheet and you're like, oh, I'm going to be paired up with
00:06:27.740 Ryan Reynolds. This is going to be great for my career. Yeah, I wonder how they're going to work
00:06:33.180 around that. If it's even true that I think this is just speculations so far. But I think Ryan last
00:06:39.920 year, he did post like a little Easter egg with the Avengers, that sign on his Instagram. And people
00:06:46.940 were like, oh my god, why would he do that if he wasn't in the movie? So I don't know, we'll just have
00:06:51.880 to wait and see. I know some of my friends here in LA was invited to a press conference pretty soon
00:06:58.880 with Ryan Reynolds for that movie May Day. So let's see if he shows up this time. I know he
00:07:04.840 didn't show up for the press days that Apple had here in LA a couple of weeks ago. He was supposed
00:07:10.240 to be there. His name was in the press release, but he just decided to go AWOL. Okay, so let's talk
00:07:16.820 about this photo of the cast of It Ends With Us. It's obvious that Justin Boldoni was left out of this
00:07:24.080 promo. As we know, he wasn't promoting this movie with any of the other cast members. But what's
00:07:29.040 funny about this is that the four of them, as you see, it's Blake and Isabelle, who played young
00:07:35.520 Lily, and the guy Alex, who played young Atlas, and Brandon Sklenar, who played Atlas as a grown-up.
00:07:44.040 And all of them are baking together. And if you look closely, Isabella Ferrer is licking cookie
00:07:50.900 dough off her finger. I think people are especially reacting to that because, you know, she was
00:07:57.860 complaining in her deposition that Justin had suggested on the set that she should lick cookie
00:08:05.520 dough off a spoon in a suggestive way because she was flirting with Atlas. It was just before they had
00:08:13.260 their big moment together, and they were in the kitchen, and he was baking. And she said that that
00:08:18.920 felt very offensive to her, and he really crossed the line by suggesting that, even though it is in
00:08:26.500 the book that that moment between them has a lot of tension. But she said that that was really
00:08:32.280 inappropriate. But in this promotional photo here, she has no issue licking cookie dough of her own
00:08:38.580 finger. And guess who Blake tagged in this promo? Well, of course, maximum effort, Ryan Reynolds'
00:08:45.760 company, meaning that they were, of course, behind this stunt, that they produced this stunt.
00:08:50.900 So Blake tweeted here saying,
00:08:52.500 We gave the Atlas ingredients no directions. Challenge 2 in British Bake Off. It ends with
00:08:58.340 a smoothie edition. It was a certified disaster. There were head shakes instead of handshakes.
00:09:05.060 And then she's thanking all these people. It's interesting when you look at young Atlas in
00:09:10.680 these photos because he's one of the few people from the cast, him and Hasan Minhaj. They're the
00:09:16.880 only two people who kept a distance. They didn't pick sides. They've just been quiet. And I was looking
00:09:23.280 at Atlas, at young Atlas or Alex Instagram, and he only has one post there of a dog. And he had the
00:09:31.020 comment sections closed off completely. It's not limited. You just can't comment. And he only has
00:09:36.320 one post. And he's followed by Justin Baldoni, the Wayfair Parties and Colleen Hoover and none of the
00:09:43.420 others. So I am wondering what happened there. Did they freeze him out eventually because he didn't
00:09:51.360 want to support Blake? I don't know. We don't know much about him. But we know that he was on set when
00:09:57.800 Isabella was shooting those scenes that she later complained about. But we haven't really heard anything
00:10:03.560 from him. Also, same with Hasan Minhaj. I talked about that before. He actually came out publicly
00:10:09.320 and said the set was lovely and he had no issues and he didn't know what people were talking about.
00:10:14.740 So, I mean, it wasn't impossible not to have an opinion about what happened here. So the people who
00:10:20.060 picked a side, especially the people who picked a side who had no issues with Justin, like Brandon
00:10:26.360 Sklenor, it of course makes you question the integrity of these people. Anyways, as I mentioned
00:10:31.300 yesterday, if you watched that episode, I did read parts from Josh Greenstein's deposition.
00:10:36.800 He was the Sony executive at the time. He later went off to work for Paramount. So in July of last
00:10:45.100 year, he jumped from Sony, he jumped ship from Sony and went over to Paramount. And as you could see
00:10:51.520 yesterday from his deposition, he put all responsibility for the terrible tone deaf marketing
00:10:57.120 on Sony. He said everything was Sony's idea. It was Sony's idea to do the whole thing with
00:11:03.940 bring your friends and wear your florals and all these pop-up events. It was also Sony's ideas.
00:11:10.520 When they asked how much power Blake Lively had over those things, he said he couldn't really recall.
00:11:16.100 But in other parts of his deposition, he kept saying how much influence Blake had and how much she helped
00:11:23.100 this production. And he was so in awe over her talent and her commitment. But there's no mention
00:11:29.940 of what hard maximum effort actually played in the promotion of the movie. But we know that Ryan
00:11:34.820 Reynolds' company produced a lot of this marketing material. One of the things that got a lot of
00:11:40.020 attention was that sketch, that junket crasher video that they did when Ryan Reynolds was acting like
00:11:48.000 a jealous husband in front of Brandon Sklenar. He also got his mom in there and Hugh Jackman.
00:11:54.160 And now thinking about it, him acting as a jealous husband in a movie about DV, it's so, so tone deaf.
00:12:02.880 I was expecting not to like him. But he is so nice.
00:12:09.540 Nice. He's the nicest guy.
00:12:11.220 So funny, charming, kind.
00:12:13.140 What a wonderful guy.
00:12:14.980 It's like, how on earth can you think that that is a good idea? To make a funny sketch about a jealous
00:12:21.800 husband when you know the theme of this film? Of course, as I didn't mention yesterday, is how much
00:12:28.740 of an interest Josh Greenstein has in supporting Ryan here? Because Ryan's company Maximum Effort
00:12:38.380 just signed another deal with Paramount for another four years where they have a first look deal with
00:12:47.320 them. And now that Josh Greenstein is at Paramount, do you think it benefits him to be siding with
00:12:54.680 Blake and Ryan or nods? And I'm wondering if that's why he takes so much ownership in the PR campaign
00:13:02.800 here, why he's admitting that all these like bad ideas that the public reacted to so badly were Sony's
00:13:10.760 ideas. We can also see from his deposition that they talk about a lot of these focus groups that
00:13:16.120 they run. And from those focus groups, they thought that the best way to market this movie was to focus
00:13:22.100 on Lily's strengths and that her relationships doesn't define her. I remember Blake talked a lot
00:13:28.500 about that actually in interviews that, oh, this doesn't define her. It's just a part of her, but it
00:13:34.460 doesn't define her as a person. And that's one of the things that Josh Greenstein also talks about
00:13:40.220 in his deposition. It's also clear that Josh Greenstein and Sony were made aware of all the backlash
00:13:46.960 that the actors received for promoting the movie this way. But then they didn't do anything about
00:13:53.560 it. So why didn't they act on it? Why didn't they change the strategy when they knew that the
00:14:01.180 marketing wasn't working? Well, it was because the movie was doing so well and they thought this is
00:14:07.520 super successful. A lot of people went to see the movie. So the marketing in their eyes was really
00:14:13.820 successful. And it seems to me like Sony didn't really care if the cast of the movie were bullied
00:14:19.860 online as long as the movie did well. It's interesting, though, when Josh is confronted with
00:14:26.420 the text messages, the text exchange that he had with Ryan Reynolds, the way he reacts to this is
00:14:33.280 quite hilarious. But before we get into that, I wanted to thank the two sponsors of this video,
00:14:38.920 Factor and Ro. If you're like me and you don't always feel like cooking or if you don't have time
00:14:45.800 to cook sometimes, it's so great to have options that are still healthy, fresh and delicious. The
00:14:53.380 meals from Factor arrive fully prepared for you. They're also designed by dietitians and crafted by
00:15:00.600 chefs. And that means that we can all eat well without planning, without grocery shopping and without
00:15:07.380 cleaning up too much. I love their high protein options with lean protein, colorful vegetables,
00:15:13.700 whole food ingredients, healthy fats and no refined sugar. And the best thing is there's so many
00:15:21.860 options. Every time I open the fridge, I feel like I have a menu there from a restaurant and I can just
00:15:27.800 grab whatever I want and it'll be ready in five minutes. They rotate between a hundred meals every

00:16:14.480 for one year while subscription is active. And a big thank you to Ro for sponsoring this video.
00:16:20.420 There's been a lot of talk about GLP-1 medications lately and I wanted to make some things clear.
00:16:26.040 Super important GLP-1s are not for everyone. These are not made for people who just want to lose a
00:16:32.820 couple of pounds. They're generally prescribed for people with obesity or overweight with weight
00:16:38.000 related health conditions. They also require medical oversight. It's also worth mentioning that GLP-1
00:16:43.960 can also be used for other health benefits. They can also be part of a broader health approach.
00:16:48.780 Patients may also see improvement in lab values, energy levels, and appetite regulation. These are
00:16:54.920 benefits that go beyond the number on the scale. And here's some good news. Until now, GLP-1s have
00:17:01.600 been mainly injections. And that can be a barrier for people who don't like needles. Now Ro is offering
00:17:08.040 the first FDA-approved GLP-1 pill for weight loss. They use the same ingredients as in the shot with
00:17:15.240 comparable results. Ro provides 100% online medical care, including FDA-approved medications,
00:17:21.600 a free insurance check, side effect management, and ongoing provider support. They're also offering
00:17:27.920 the lowest cost options, whether you're using insurance or paying cash. Go to roe.co.flossom
00:17:34.040 to see if you're eligible for the new GLP-1 pill on Ro. That's roe.co.flossom to get started on
00:17:41.880 Ro. Go to roe.co.flossom for boxed warning and full safety information about GLP-1 medications.
00:17:48.720 Okay, so let's get back into it. So yes, there was a text exchange between Josh Greenstein and Ryan
00:17:55.840 Reynolds. And it's so clear to me, reading these texts from Ryan Reynolds, he is so manipulative.
00:18:02.260 As a reminder, I'm going to read parts of this that he sent to Josh. And this was, keep that in
00:18:08.280 mind, this was in May of 2024. So this was months before the premiere. This was way before Blake started
00:18:16.820 getting backlash in the press and on social media. So if you are a husband protecting your wife,
00:18:23.540 it would be natural for you to say that your wife feels unsafe on this set. And if Sony can do
00:18:29.480 something about it. But instead, Ryan is writing this. First, he's congratulating him and said that
00:18:37.320 you pulled off the marketing triumph with this. There was another movie that Josh was involved in.
00:18:42.400 And then Ryan says, and marketing is my favorite discipline of all the martial arts. I hope I get
00:18:49.340 the benefit of your black belt one of these days soon. And then he says, more importantly, Josh,
00:18:54.240 I can't thank you enough for the level of integrity and leadership with the, it ends with this drama.
00:18:59.940 You're not only backstopping a vastly better version of the film, but you're making fans and allies left,
00:19:06.180 right and center. So he's basically saying, because you're doing as I tell you to do,
00:19:12.860 then you're making more friends everywhere. It's so manipulative. Anyways, he continues,
00:19:20.900 the behind the scenes stuff has been so confounding. He doesn't mention what it is. And in Josh
00:19:28.240 Greenstein's deposition, he says that he didn't know what the drama was about. He didn't know the
00:19:34.320 specific. He knew there were tensions on the set, but he didn't know what it was. I find it so weird
00:19:41.180 that he wouldn't want to try to find that out. But of course, if he admits that he knew that there
00:19:47.660 was S.H. on the set and Sony decided not to act on it, it would put Sony in a difficult position.
00:19:55.420 So he just says that he can't recall and he doesn't know, he didn't know what all the drama was about.
00:20:01.080 But here Ryan continues to say, if I read it in a script, my main note would be tone it down.
00:20:07.780 This guy is genuinely touched in some very strange ways. Talking about Justin, like a melon baller
00:20:14.720 lobotomy makes more sense than his self-propelled malignant stupidity and revolting behavior.
00:20:23.180 I can imagine there's almost no aspect of this which has been easy for you to navigate,
00:20:28.080 Ryan is saying. But you stood up for what's right in a system which more often than not favor what's
00:20:34.460 easy. You protected my wife from so much and so often. Okay, what did he protect his wife from?
00:20:44.540 And in protecting her, you've also preserved the film and its ability to not only work commercially,
00:20:49.900 but achieve a second and possibly better objective. Going, giving voice to a vital issue
00:20:57.020 affecting so many people. He's giving so much cred to Josh here. I mean, are people buying this
00:21:04.800 when someone is kissing your ass at this level? Do people really buy it? I wonder what Josh was
00:21:10.060 thinking when he received this. Anyway, he continues, no matter what, you have a lifetime supply
00:21:15.380 of admiration, respect and friendship from me. If there's any way I can pay it forward any time,
00:21:23.340 say the word and I'll show up for you. Try me, Ryan says. And then Josh Greenstein responds saying,
00:21:32.000 thanks Ryan, so happy to be in same conversation as Furiosa. Crazy, he says, talking about this other
00:21:39.420 movie. I really appreciate your kind words. I'm so impressed with how Blake has handled the
00:21:44.800 situation. Okay, what situation when he doesn't really know what happened? Her North Star is the
00:21:51.000 movie and the fans and you can never go wrong with that as your driver. I tell my wife and daughters
00:21:57.200 all the time you need to advocate for yourself, especially in this world as a woman. Not only does
00:22:04.060 Blake do that for herself, but she's a creative force and a total badass. So he's basically also saying
00:22:11.200 here that Blake Lively is standing up for herself and she's a total badass. So how can she be a
00:22:16.380 powerless victim at the same time? That doesn't make any sense. He continues to say, her cut is
00:22:21.880 better, no question. I have her back all the way. So he wasn't even interested in this bake-off at all.
00:22:29.640 He was just backing Sony or Blake's version. They call it Sony's version, but it is Blake's version.
00:22:36.040 Blake, call it Blake's version. Anyway, and we know that Justin's cut was actually rating higher
00:22:41.980 than hers, but they went for hers anyway. And Josh Greenstein is saying here that he has her back.
00:22:47.220 He's going to go with her cut no matter what. And he says, would be a dream to have both of you
00:22:52.760 making movies at Sony in the future. Well, now I think it's his dream that they will do deals with
00:22:58.800 Paramount or maybe not anymore after this all came out. And then he ends it with, hope you enjoy
00:23:04.860 having biggest movie of summer and probably biggest R rating opening of all time. So this
00:23:12.340 movie was supposed to be, as I said before, an R rated movie. And then they changed it to a PG movie.
00:23:19.860 Justin always wanted it to be R rated, but then Blake and her team on Sony maybe wanted it to be
00:23:26.120 a PG 13 movie. And then he ends it with, you will actually have top three R rated movie openings of
00:23:32.320 all times. So yeah, Josh is responding back to Ryan with same kiss ass. I mean, this is just makes
00:23:39.280 me kind of like, oh, anyways, in Josh's deposition, he's asked about this exchange he had with Ryan
00:23:45.900 Reynolds. And it's quite funny. So the attorney is asking him, what did you mean when you wrote,
00:23:49.820 I'm so impressed with how Blake has handled the situation. And he says, I believe I meant how
00:23:54.760 impressed I was with what all, you know, what she was doing in terms of the movie and the
00:23:59.060 marketing campaign under these circumstances. And then he's asking, and what impressed you about
00:24:04.640 how Blake was handling the marketing campaign under these circumstances? Well, at the time,
00:24:09.880 let me, I'm just going to read my response. It was, it was about, uh, thanks. Uh, thank you. Yeah,
00:24:16.520 I believe it was about, about how creative she was, how she wouldn't settle for anything but
00:24:21.860 greatness in the film and in the marketing campaign. So he's basically saying that her handling the
00:24:28.800 situation was only creative differences then. He's not saying her handling the situation was
00:24:34.480 about anything that happened to her, but it's so obvious that that is what he's referring to.
00:24:39.360 Uh, but he doesn't want to admit that. And the attorney continues to ask him about this other thing
00:24:44.780 that he wrote to Ryan. I tell my wife and daughters all the time, you need to advocate for, advocate for
00:24:50.700 yourself, especially in this world as a woman. I'm wondering why you included that. And he says, well,
00:24:57.880 it's, um, I probably because I've been on so many movies where, you know, similar disagreements have
00:25:04.700 happened between star and director or studio and star or studio and director, you know, there's all
00:25:11.520 kind of producers or financiers. So he's saying that he said that because this is normal to have these
00:25:19.260 kind of arguments on a movie set. So this isn't out of the ordinary at all for him. Interesting.
00:25:27.080 And he says, and it's quite common for, in my experience, male stars to have real opinions and
00:25:32.880 use their weight to say this is what it's got to be. And I just didn't think there should be a double
00:25:38.800 standard. So he doesn't think that the director, who's also an actor in the movie and the producer of
00:25:45.180 the movie should not have more of a say than the actress they hired because she's a woman.
00:25:51.340 And then an attorney is asking, did you think there was a double standard? And he's like, well,
00:25:56.140 I think that, uh, that the pushback, I think I was responding to from that was going on. I'm not sure.
00:26:03.780 I felt there wasn't double standard. I was just saying, I liked the fact that Blake was really
00:26:08.860 speaking up for herself and trying to do what was best for the movie. So again, he's trying to make
00:26:14.660 this only about the movie. And with these things, with these conversations, like this kind of text
00:26:20.280 exchange that he had with Ryan, and it's never mentioned anything about SH. How is that possible?
00:26:28.380 And the language that Ryan uses here is not like he's holding back on his feelings about this.
00:26:33.500 Why is he not saying that this man has been so inappropriate to my wife and I need to protect
00:26:40.200 her? And at the same time, when Josh is saying that Blake is standing up for herself, it just
00:26:46.100 looks terrible. All right, you guys, that's it for me on a Friday. I hope you're going to have an
00:26:51.080 amazing weekend, everyone. And please take care of yourself and each other. And if you haven't
