00:00:30.000 Hello, you guys. Welcome back to the Riley Gaines Show. Tough week for those of us with
00:00:38.920 conservative values, really for those of us with common sense. Actually, I think what this election
00:00:44.540 boils down to is for those of us who love America, for those of us who are proud to be American,
00:00:49.080 who are grateful for the freedoms that we have, who don't feel like we need to apologize or feel
00:00:53.440 guilty for being proud to be American. Tough week. I made a reactionary style video that came out on
00:00:59.460 Wednesday reacting to some of the election results. And in the 72 hours since, I've really
00:01:06.000 thought about things and I don't think it's as bad as we were initially led to believe. Do I think
00:01:12.420 it's bad? Yes. Of course, I don't think it's good. But I do believe there's a silver lining in all
00:01:17.920 of this. I mentioned some of the good things that have come from this and that can possibly come
00:01:23.400 from this in Wednesday's episode. But I just want to spend a little time focusing on this because
00:01:27.700 I have had so many of you, whether it's Maha moms, whether it's people in the state of Texas who are
00:01:33.900 like, what do we do now? I've had so many of you reach out and message me and say, like, are we
00:01:38.440 okay? And the last episode I mentioned very briefly, because a lot of the results weren't in yet at the
00:01:44.160 time of the filming, about some of the ballot initiatives surrounding women's sports. Four
00:01:48.860 different ballot initiatives in the states of Nebraska, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington, D.C.
00:01:55.060 For a little more context on what these ballot initiatives were, what they do, specifically in the state of Colorado, you can go back and listen to the episode we did with Paula Scanlon and Megan Burke. They really headed up that effort in Colorado to support Prop 134 is what it was called in that state, which ultimately in all these states, what this proposition or what these ballot measures do and will do effective starting in 2027 is ban men from women's sports.
00:02:23.720 I mean, like, this is crazy.
00:02:24.920 We're still having these conversations.
00:02:26.240 I bet you're like, wait, but I thought President Trump already did that.
00:02:28.540 He did.
00:02:29.160 States aren't following it.
00:02:30.780 Respective state laws don't necessarily abide by federal law.
00:02:35.420 Anyways, this is really good news.
00:02:38.240 You have Nebraska and Arizona, which are less surprising, still relatively surprising,
00:02:42.680 giving the elected structure, the elected representation in especially the state of Arizona,
00:02:49.220 a more purple state for sure.
00:02:50.620 but then you have states like Colorado and Washington State, which are just about as blue
00:02:56.340 as they come. But even still, voters turned out and they supported the idea that men don't belong
00:03:02.220 in women's sports. But I think the consequences of this extends beyond just the headline here.
00:03:08.260 This was a rather inconvenient development for the political left, even given the fact that they won
00:03:14.280 many, many seats, several of which were unexpected seats, governor, attorney general, senate seats,
00:03:20.000 in the election, this is what I would call an inconvenient development for them. America may
00:03:24.780 have voted to elect Democrats, which I could go into depth into how I don't even think really
00:03:28.900 that was the case. I think Republicans lost this election. I think people were voting out of spite
00:03:33.580 against Republicans. I don't necessarily think Democrats or maybe Democrats' agenda won this
00:03:39.240 election, but I don't think that's the message that Democrats are going to hear because people
00:03:43.560 haven't just suddenly developed an appetite for the progressive social woke agenda again.
00:03:48.760 Remember, the trans issue has become like a central pillar for the Democrats and their messaging, their policies, their platform.
00:03:57.520 At least it has over the past like six or so years now.
00:04:00.920 Elected Democrats, their allies in mainstream media and virtually every major institution, think education realm, the corporate world, Hollywood.
00:04:09.240 would, they have insisted that protecting women's sports or any of the messaging pertaining to the
00:04:15.780 gender ideology movement, right? The safeguarding of children, protecting parental rights. They've
00:04:20.280 insisted that these are extreme positions. That anyone who dares to advocate for women only
00:04:26.080 and women's sports is a hate-filled bigot. And I think that's probably one of the kinder things
00:04:32.160 that I could say, or at least one of the kinder things that I have been called. We're told that
00:04:36.140 reality is transphobic and that the girls who oppose the man flashing himself in their locker
00:04:41.800 room, they're actually the problem, not the man, because don't you care about his feelings? Don't
00:04:47.280 you care about his mental health? Doesn't inclusion matter more to you than your safety?
00:04:52.080 His feelings should be prioritized above all girls' privacy, safety, and equal opportunities.
00:04:57.880 Seriously, think of how many politicians or university administrators or athletic organizations
00:05:02.940 who have had to contort themselves, bend themselves, twist themselves into a knot trying to answer
00:05:08.480 the dreaded question of what is a woman or trying to rationalize how women should be the ones who
00:05:14.840 should be expected to sacrifice their hard work, their skill sets, their own opportunities in the
00:05:21.320 name of inclusion. I mean, for crying out loud, we have a sitting Supreme Court justice who can't
00:05:26.820 even answer the question of what is a woman because she says she's not a biologist. Not our
00:05:31.280 best and not our brightest. You have to remember one of Donald Trump's most effective ads was
00:05:36.040 Kamala Harris is for they, them. Donald Trump is for you. It worked. Do I think that the issue
00:05:41.720 of protecting women's sports was capitalized on? Yes and no. Let me explain. No, because the issue
00:05:48.880 was certainly still happening, especially in those blue states where Donald Trump took action,
00:05:53.360 the blue states didn't listen. It was still occurring. Therefore, if it's still happening,
00:05:57.240 we should capitalize on it. We should continue to talk about it and call out how crazy the other
00:06:01.020 side is. But I think Republicans got a little overzealous with the issue. And in doing so,
00:06:08.980 and then seeing how effective it was in 2024, they neglected a lot of things that are more
00:06:14.060 pressing, or at least that feel more pressing to everyday Americans now, things like affordability.
00:06:19.660 And that was not a smart strategy, as we now know. And that's why I think people voted for
00:06:25.600 Democrats, as I said in my episode on Wednesday. But the ballot measures show me that even in the
00:06:31.720 year 2026, your everyday American is just not buying what the progressive left is selling them
00:06:38.280 on this issue. Let's consider Colorado. You know, the opponents of Proposition 134, those who
00:06:43.260 oppose protecting women's sports, they spent, it says it right here, they raised roughly $4 million,
00:06:49.080 dollars, roughly four million dollars in an effort to get the public, Colorado voters, to oppose
00:06:55.820 Prop 134. They had substantial backing from unions and progressive organizations. Organizations like
00:07:03.660 Planned Parenthood was giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to this cause. Ask yourself, why would
00:07:09.000 Planned Parenthood care if it's only girls in girls sports? Because guess what? They profit on
00:07:13.340 this issue. They profit off the gender ideology movement because they're cutting off healthy
00:07:17.540 body parts of minors, and they're injecting young, vulnerable, impressionable kids without
00:07:22.820 informed consent, by the way. They're injecting them with chemicals and steroids and unnatural
00:07:28.500 synthetic hormones and substances. That's why Planned Parenthood is giving hundreds of thousands
00:07:34.580 of dollars to this issue. They realize, actually, we can make more money on transing kids than we
00:07:38.920 can abortions. Now, let's look at the proponents, those who supported the measure. Generally,
00:07:44.080 we know this to be true. Our side of things, we're not as well funded. We're not as well
00:07:49.320 organized. And there's a part of me that's proud of this because we are really grassroots,
00:07:55.100 but you have to give it to the left. It is admirable in how they unite behind the causes
00:07:59.940 they believe in. We don't do as great of a job as they do on that front. The proponents of this
00:08:06.520 bill raised approximately $200,000 through grassroots efforts. That means they were
00:08:11.660 outspent nearly 20 to 1, and even still, they prevailed. So the question is, at what point
00:08:18.760 does the left just accept that this is a losing issue? It is a losing issue, case closed, give it
00:08:25.440 a rest. The belief that I have on this issue, and that most of you I would imagine have, is not some
00:08:31.080 fringe belief only held by extreme right MAGA Republicans. This issue, it cuts across party
00:08:38.160 lines. Old, young, gay, straight, white, black. It doesn't matter. Forget any identity factor.
00:08:44.600 Normal people don't believe that men can be women. And the people who have spent years insisting
00:08:50.620 otherwise, I believe have a real problem on their hands. But what does our culture tell us? Take
00:08:55.180 away elections, take away any sort of voting process. What does our culture tell us in this
00:08:59.620 regard? Well, if you really want to know, look no further than Sophie Cunningham, like the WNBA's
00:09:06.180 golden goose. For a while, it was Caitlin Clark. Move over Caitlin Clark. Still, of course,
00:09:11.300 dominant, still a beast, still fun to watch. She's not the golden goose anymore. It is Sophie
00:09:17.820 Cunningham. There's something so magnetic about Sophie. You know what I'm talking about, right?
00:09:23.580 There's still something that draws you into Sophie. She exudes confidence, not cockiness,
00:09:29.860 not like, you know, arrogance. She exudes confidence. And there's something so appealing
00:09:34.400 about that. She exudes courage. She's beautiful. She's leggy. She's tall. She's tan. She's blonde.
00:09:41.380 She's obviously incredible on the court. And she's funny. She's really dynamic. If you watch
00:09:45.860 her behavior on the court, or if you watch her TikToks, if she shows up on your Instagram feed,
00:09:49.740 she's just always smiling and she's goofy and she's got her tongue out. Like there's just
00:09:53.360 something so appealing about that in a world of so much negativity and pessimism. When you have
00:09:58.300 someone who's always smiling, you're drawn to them. But what is it that initially drew a lot
00:10:03.320 of us who are listening to this podcast, who maybe listen to me, who maybe follow me, what is it that
00:10:08.660 initially made you aware of Sophie Cunningham? Maybe it was like the viral pointing meme, but I
00:10:14.240 bet you liked her a lot more after she publicly expressed her belief that only women belong in
00:10:19.480 women's sports and women's locker rooms. And you know what she did next, or maybe I should say what
00:10:23.320 she didn't do next that made her even better is after saying this and after certainly receiving
00:10:29.040 that initial onslaught of backlash from largely the media, she did not issue a groveling public
00:10:36.060 apology. She wasn't shunned into professional exile. Quite the opposite. Remember that Instagram
00:10:43.400 post she posted afterwards and she said, I said what I said? Iconic. Iconic. And the response
00:10:49.180 since her public profile has exploded. She's gained like over 3 million followers across
00:10:54.260 the social platforms. Her engagement has skyrocketed. Her jersey became the most sought
00:10:58.560 after in the league. She had a shoe with Adidas. It sold out within like 10 minutes of its drop.
00:11:04.000 She was just dancing with the stars, sitting with all of the stars, right? This was like an
00:11:09.220 unfathomable thought. Even five years ago, I think of how I was treated. Granted, I'm no Sophie
00:11:13.500 Cunningham, but I think of how I was treated and I wasn't embraced. It seems like Sophie is being
00:11:18.260 embraced and I'm so glad about it. I can't even know how happy this makes me and how much of a
00:11:23.540 shift in the culture. This is proving itself to be how just in five short years, so much can change
00:11:29.700 in regard to public discourse, which by the way, this month, the Riley Gaines show is really,
00:11:34.820 really proud to be sponsored by the Tunnels of Towers Foundation. Born from the tragedy of 9-11
00:11:40.620 Tunnels of Towers gives mortgage-free homes to gold star and fallen first responder families
00:11:45.240 and build specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first
00:11:49.340 responders, um, their children actually receive full scholarships for college or for trade school.
00:11:54.280 Um, and the foundation is working to end veteran homelessness and help America never forget
00:11:58.820 September 11th. Um, that feels incredibly pressing giving the current state of the world
00:12:04.420 of America, um, find out how you can help at T2T. That is the letter T, the number two,
00:12:10.720 the letter T T2T.org. Which by the way, I hope so desperately that Sophie Cunningham is on,
00:12:19.340 Dancing with the Stars. Oh my gosh, I will vote for her every single week, 10 times. I will text
00:12:23.360 the number, Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, 10 times every week. She was just at an F1 race
00:12:28.100 and she got to wave the flag. And you know what was the coolest thing? On Halloween, I saw so many
00:12:34.000 young girls who dressed as her. They got her jersey and they wore their hair in a ponytail and
00:12:39.420 they had a basketball and they went trick-or-treating and they dressed up as Sophie Cunningham. Sophie
00:12:43.200 Cunningham is that girl. She's the girl that I want my daughter to model. This notion that expressing
00:12:48.900 a very common sense, like the default position, not even that long ago, for everyone to have,
00:12:54.720 expressing the very common sense view about protecting women's sports is automatically
00:12:58.780 a career-ending offense is becoming increasingly ridiculous and provably false. And that should
00:13:06.240 scare Democrats who were just elected overwhelmingly. I don't think the voters'
00:13:10.860 message of affordability and gas prices and voting for Democrats is what the Democrats will hear.
00:13:17.540 We have no reason to believe that they won't be tempted to interpret their victories as like, I don't know, permission to expand DEI mandates and put boys in girls' bathrooms and trans little kids and, you know, raise your taxes and more illegal immigrants.
00:13:31.260 Actually, they're already doing it. Watch this video of Ro Khanna after the blue wave we saw on Tuesday night.
00:13:35.720 Tonight DEI is back as America celebrated diversity and inclusion, likely three black governors, the first Latina governor in Texas, the first Muslim American senator, the first gay senator. I love this America.
00:13:52.960 These people are racist. Like these people are racist and they're sexist and saying, I love this America. Like you didn't love America the past two years of America under President Trump, because there's not enough like black lesbian Muslims.
00:14:05.920 If you only love America because a certain sex or a certain religion or ethnicity or
00:14:12.120 gender, like if you only love America because a certain race or a certain sex or a certain
00:14:18.540 sexual orientation or a certain ethnicity or religion is in power, then you're racist
00:14:24.440 and you're sexist and you're no good American.
00:14:28.680 You're an ideological hack.
00:14:30.300 That's what I think people like Ro Khanna are.
00:14:31.740 and Tuesday's ballot initiatives should serve as a warning against making the assumption that
00:14:37.880 every single Democrat agrees with Ro Khanna's message. That's why I try and be careful in
00:14:42.620 talking about the left on this issue, like a broad stroke, the left. And to be fair, like
00:14:47.160 I do do it. I do say that sometimes just let this be like a precursor. Most of the time,
00:14:52.420 when I say the left, I'm talking about those in elected positions and I'm talking about
00:14:57.780 mainstream media, left-wing mainstream media. I'm generally not talking about your everyday
00:15:02.620 Democrat. Now, again, of course, I know some of them do exist. I saw a lot of the response online
00:15:08.680 from the fringe, what I would describe far-left Democrats when it came to these social issues.
00:15:15.880 Actually, Forrest, a really, really good and compelling video. Let's actually play it here.
00:15:21.220 I'm probably going to lose so many followers for this, and I try to stay out of politics,
00:15:25.300 But sometimes I feel like it's important to speak up got on social media and my feed was flooded
00:15:31.480 And it was stuff like we're gonna invent new genders. You haven't even imagined yet 30,000 likes on that
00:15:36.280 We're gonna trans your kids so bad
00:15:38.380 46,000 likes on that throws Amex down at the abortion clinic. Keep the tab open
00:15:42.860 Guys, this is you don't want to mess around with this do not mess around with God
00:15:48.600 Do not mess around with the family the final verse in the Old Testament reads as this
00:15:52.420 he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the
00:15:55.720 fathers. Otherwise, I will destroy the land. If we lose the family, we lose everything. I want to do
00:16:00.560 two things. One, to encourage you to be activated. Pray, discern, read your word, hold your family
00:16:07.840 tight, lead your family. Let's be the soldiers that we signed up to be for the kingdom. And
00:16:12.100 secondly, be encouraged because God is the victor. He wins. And at the end of the day,
00:16:17.600 every knee will bow just such evil like chaos and disorder and immorality don't you feel it
00:16:24.480 like it feels to me so spiritual because as a christian as a believer i know that it is spiritual
00:16:29.020 but don't you feel it it just feels so dark reading some of those um those comments that
00:16:34.820 forrest read there private student loan debt in the u.s is around 300 billion with a b u.s dollars
00:16:42.720 and roughly $45 billion of that is considered distressed.
00:16:45.860 For a lot of people, that means one thing,
00:16:48.220 feeling stuck with no light at the end of the tunnel.
00:16:51.340 Maybe the payments are too high.
00:16:52.820 Maybe a cosigner is still on the hook.
00:16:54.360 Maybe every refinance option keeps ending in a no.
00:16:58.260 That's where Y-Refi comes in.
00:17:00.420 Y-Refi, they help refinance distressed
00:17:02.760 and defaulted private student loans,
00:17:04.220 and they look beyond a traditional credit score.
00:17:06.900 They offer personalized solutions,
00:17:08.600 flexible repayment options, one-on-one support,
00:17:10.700 and in some cases, even the chance to release eligible co-signers from the loan.
00:17:15.140 Your student loan debt does not, and it should not, define your future.
00:17:19.220 If you have been carrying this burden and you don't know what to do next,
00:17:22.380 you don't know what that next step is,
00:17:24.460 Why Refi could be the first real step towards relief.
00:17:27.620 You can see whether you qualify at whyrefi.com or you can call today.
00:17:32.720 A better financial future could start with just one conversation.
00:17:37.720 Electrolyte brands are everywhere.
00:17:39.160 So I get the skepticism, but Relight stood out to me because it starts with the source.
00:17:44.120 It's made by Redmond, the company behind Redmond Real Salt, which has been mined in Utah since 1958 from an ancient Jurassic era seabed.
00:17:53.020 So instead of processed sodium, you get unrefined real salt with sodium, chloride and 60 plus trace minerals.
00:18:00.320 The formula stays clean from there.
00:18:02.140 So that means zero sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors, no artificial flavors and no chemical preservatives.
00:18:08.560 You also get potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, and coconut water powder in the flavored varieties.
00:18:15.240 I like to use it before my workouts.
00:18:17.440 I use it while traveling during a fast or on busy days.
00:18:21.200 It tastes balanced.
00:18:22.540 It doesn't taste too salty or too sweet.
00:18:24.880 My favorite flavor is actually the watermelon lime.
00:18:28.340 It is so good.
00:18:30.120 If you want to try, you can go to redmond.com slash hydrate and use code hydrate for 15% off your first order.
00:18:35.860 Again, that's redmond.com slash hydrate using code hydrate, or you can click the link in the
00:18:40.080 description, scan the QR code, or check the pin comment. I want you all to have convictions.
00:18:47.300 I want you to develop convictions. But more importantly, I want you to understand why you
00:18:54.600 arrived, how you arrived at those convictions. I don't want your convictions to be the same
00:18:59.260 convictions I have. If that's not what you feel convicted by, of course not. I think it would be
00:19:04.800 problematic if everyone on this planet had the same convictions. That would actually not be a
00:19:10.560 good thing. Everyone has opinions. You can scroll through social media for five minutes and encounter
00:19:16.480 hundreds of them. But being able to repeat something that you heard doesn't necessarily
00:19:20.600 mean you understand it. I want you guys to get into a habit of asking yourself a few questions
00:19:24.240 when you encounter something you feel as if you might feel passionate about or something you might
00:19:27.680 feel pressured to speak to. The first question being, why do I believe this? The second question,
00:19:33.480 what evidence supports this? Third question, have I actually considered the strongest argument
00:19:38.140 against my position? And I think maybe most importantly, what would it take for me to
00:19:42.400 change my mind? I think that one's important because intellectual confidence and intellectual
00:19:47.360 humility can and should coexist. You should be able to defend what you believe without thinking
00:19:52.560 that you're incapable of being wrong. I'm not saying you should have to become an expert on
00:19:56.540 every single issue, but I do believe that when something matters enough for you to speak publicly
00:20:02.040 about it, it should matter enough for you to really understand it. You guys have seen the
00:20:06.820 videos of people being asked why they're voting for Abdul El-Sayed or whoever it is. And they,
00:20:11.580 they can't give you an answer or the people who are asked about Trump, you know, what's the most
00:20:15.140 racist thing he said. And they can't answer this. Like you should have an answer that goes deeper
00:20:20.180 than, well, that's what my parents think, or that's what I heard, or that's what I saw online,
00:20:24.020 or that's what everyone else around me believes. Your beliefs should be your own beliefs. And when
00:20:29.300 you know why you believe something, you become far less dependent on the approval of other people.
00:20:35.900 And I think Sophie Cunningham is a perfect example of this. When you do that, you can listen to
00:20:40.560 disagreement without being personally threatened by it. You can engage in difficult conversations
00:20:45.560 without being overly defensive. You can stand firm when standing firm is necessary. So believe
00:20:51.840 what you believe and know why you believe what you believe. Anyways, getting back to the original
00:20:56.480 point that I wanted to make in this episode of answering the question of what's next? Like,
00:21:00.840 are we just totally doomed? Like, I'll be honest, we're going to see nothing done in Washington,
00:21:06.120 D.C. But in thinking the last, you know, 48, 72 hours, did we really see anything done in
00:21:11.800 Washington, D.C. the past two years? Like, we had the big, beautiful bill passage, and that was
00:21:16.760 pretty consequential with, you know, some of the working family tax benefits, no tax on tips,
00:21:22.200 or tax on overtime, that kind of thing. Defunded Planned Parenthood for a full year, which was not
00:21:26.620 nearly enough in my opinion, but I digress. That was good. But beyond that, what else did Congress
00:21:32.040 do the past two years? They couldn't even pass the SAVE Act to ensure only Americans vote in
00:21:37.700 American elections. So we're not going to see anything get done. I just think that's the
00:21:43.500 reality of it. But did we anyways? Not really. So is life going to change drastically? I don't
00:21:51.900 know, I'm no political expert, but in thinking about my daily life and the things that are going
00:21:57.140 to change, I'm just going to continue to have an outlook of gratitude and optimism and to just
00:22:04.880 keep fighting for what I believe in. And I encourage all of you to as well. And final thing,
00:22:09.740 I would encourage you guys to get involved locally in your community. I think it is one of the most
00:22:13.640 fruitful things that you can do. So much of our time in talking about politics is being spent on
00:22:19.180 the national level. And again, it is important. Of course it's important. It matters who's in the
00:22:23.200 law place. It matters who we elect to represent us. Those things do matter. But I believe you
00:22:28.240 feel far more of the weight of the decisions that are happening at a local level. So if you're
00:22:33.400 watching this, maybe you're in high school, you're in college, get involved on your campus in some
00:22:37.180 capacity. Maybe that looks like getting involved with the Turning Point Group. Maybe that looks
00:22:40.720 like getting involved in some other club or I don't know, something. I think that is something
00:22:45.580 that is fruitful, something that can be good and beneficial when otherwise there's not a lot of
00:22:53.320 good, I believe, that's going to come from Washington, D.C. Just my advice and my two cents,
00:22:57.080 take it or leave it. Again, no political expert, just some of the things that I have found that
00:23:02.240 work for me. Appreciate you guys. Thanks for tuning in. We'll have two more episodes, maybe
00:23:08.180 three more episodes next week. So make sure you always subscribe to The Riley Gaines Show.
