00:00:00.000 You've got a truck, yeah
00:00:01.340 Hold the line
00:00:03.320 Because we are the strong together
00:00:05.340 We will always rise up, there's no folding
00:00:07.520 Under pressure
00:00:08.340 They ask me what I'll fight for, I'm a human rights offender
00:00:11.340 We gotta stand on God for thee until
00:00:13.420 Our lives are better
00:00:14.280 Break me down, but we are the strong together
00:00:17.340 We will always rise up, there's no folding
00:00:19.520 Under pressure
00:00:20.280 They ask me what I'll fight for, I'm a human rights offender
00:00:23.320 We gotta stand on God for thee until
00:00:25.440 Our lives are better
00:00:30.000 all right ladies and gentlemen uh that is cassius julius an activist musician freedom fighter and
00:00:47.600 you know he says he's a human rights defender in that song and he has proven uh just that
00:00:52.060 with his activism for those who don't know he uh got a run-in with the cops at the in ottawa
00:00:59.100 during the Rolling Thunder Bikers Rally.
00:01:04.440 If you remember, that happened in April 2022
00:01:06.900 after the trucker convoy.
00:01:08.700 And if you look at this article
00:01:09.780 from Western Standard,
00:01:12.440 Rolling Thunder Protester Acquitted on All Charges.
00:01:15.640 We're talking about the one and only Cassius Julius,
00:01:18.780 and I am here with him right now.
00:01:20.820 How are you doing today, sir?
00:01:24.300 I am doing a lot better.
00:01:26.380 Thanks, Greg.
00:01:26.940 I appreciate it.
00:01:28.320 Yeah, thanks so much for coming on the channel.
00:01:31.140 And, you know, it's just vindication season for Freedom Fighters.
00:01:35.100 A lot of people have heard about Hategate and Jeremy McKenzie
00:01:38.380 and all of these lies that were told about Jeremy McKenzie and Diagelon
00:01:42.780 and it justified the use of the Emergencies Act.
00:01:44.960 And your story is very similar because, if I'm not mistaken,
00:01:48.300 there has been cops who were lying to essentially try to criminalize you
00:01:53.160 and try to get these charges to stick.
00:01:54.900 so before we get into all that let's just kind of bring us up to speed with where you're at
00:01:59.300 uh you've kind of exited all of the horrible legal stuff you're kind of like you're kind
00:02:04.940 of a free man now and plus you don't have to pay lawyers anymore would you say that's about right
00:02:09.060 how do you feel where you're at right now yeah i mean i couldn't say i couldn't say it any better
00:02:14.440 um being a free man um there's definitely there's definitely a better feeling um other than the year
00:02:21.200 and a half stressing waiting you know because ultimately there's there was corruption in the
00:02:27.600 charges so i'm kind of figuring out how will the judge be right is it will it be similar or will
00:02:33.720 it be so i i wasn't too sure so very stressful um year and a half indeed um but yeah free man now
00:02:42.240 all charges are dropped so feeling a lot better um finally getting some sleep back long lost sleep
00:02:48.640 And, yeah, I feel a lot better now.
00:02:51.920 Yeah. And, you know, we were talking about this yesterday and it really does take a toll on you to have to pay for your lawyer and have to go through all of this.
00:03:00.180 And it's really done as a way to deter people from protesting, from from participating in activism.
00:03:06.300 and since the convoy there's just there's so many so so so many examples of this where even though
00:03:13.300 the charges didn't stick even though they like kind of gave you these bullshit charges and they
00:03:17.840 even had cops lying it's it doesn't matter you know they're still gonna fuck with your life
00:03:23.640 they're still gonna you know they're still gonna force you to deal with all these legal consequences
00:03:28.300 and it really does it really is like a fifth generational warfare tactic where you are kind
00:03:34.260 of drained emotionally, financially, physically, spiritually. Um, and how, how has that journey
00:03:40.880 been? You know, have you had support from other people in the community over, over this time?
00:03:45.300 Like, how, how did you, how did you deal with this? Cause you know, it could really test a
00:03:49.420 person, right? Yeah. I mean, you said it best. Um, you know, it does take a toll on you. Um,
00:03:55.280 you know, all the speaking with the lawyer, you know, going into court and just all of that
00:04:00.140 pressure it is a lot but um how i dealt with it you know family friends mainly um you know everybody
00:04:08.640 you know i i appreciate all those who did check up on me you know that uh did show their support
00:04:13.720 that did send their uh their prayers and their love for me um and that's that's kind of what
00:04:19.500 kept me going to be completely honest throughout this time because i was i was pretty down i was
00:04:23.860 going through a rough patch and um you know those people checking up on me really did bring me back
00:04:29.120 to life you know i can say that awesome awesome so bring us back to rolling thunder we're going
00:04:35.780 to play the clips in a second of the actual altercation that happened between you and the
00:04:40.020 police and the absurd things that the police were saying about this this specific incident caught on
00:04:44.920 camera but um you know maybe bring us back before we play the clip set us up to bring us back to uh
00:04:50.900 april 2022 when rolling thunder was happening and the bikes are rolling into ottawa how did you hear
00:04:57.920 about it how did you get there and and what led up to this uh this incident yeah so um yeah the
00:05:04.160 rolling thunder event was a uh you know basically an event honoring the veterans um specifically
00:05:10.600 james top who had marched across canada um worked for the canadian air forces and uh basically was
00:05:16.760 not amongst all of us you know a lot of other canadians were not accepting the you have to be
00:05:22.900 vaccinated in order to keep your job and, you know, and all the other things that they were
00:05:29.060 basically trying to put on us. Um, so I was, I was going there to support that. I was actually
00:05:33.880 also, uh, performing on the 30th, um, the day after I arrived on Parliament Hill. And, um,
00:05:40.580 but unfortunately I didn't, um, well, I did perform actually, um, on the 30th, but, um,
00:05:46.320 it was a crazy first day before that uh that performance happened yeah yeah and uh i can
00:05:55.980 bring up the clip here i guess we'll see it in in uh regular time um this was in the evening i guess
00:06:03.320 and um do you know exactly where this is situated where we are here on the left here
00:06:11.020 Yeah, this is, well, it's on Rideau, of course, but it's right beside the chapters.
00:06:17.400 Gotcha.
00:06:18.400 Gotcha.
00:06:19.400 Yeah.
00:06:20.400 So I'm just rewinding it.
00:06:21.400 You can see, this is a familiar site, the line of police.
00:06:25.360 And this video is labeled, we'll blow it up even more for people.
00:06:29.580 And there's a push that comes from the police side, the police line.
00:06:34.260 Wow, wow, the police instigating violence?
00:06:36.780 Really?
00:06:37.780 Whoa, crazy.
00:06:38.780 Um, yeah, you can see it right there.
00:06:42.320 It's pointed out and that's, and that's you getting pushed.
00:06:49.500 This is, I don't have a pointer here, but that's you getting pushed.
00:06:57.620 And then a second later, they just grab you.
00:07:01.640 Yeah.
00:07:02.240 Provoked.
00:07:03.220 And what was happening to you back here?
00:07:05.660 Look, they tackle you to the ground.
00:07:07.720 Yeah.
00:07:08.160 yeah they they forcefully throw me to the ground um i get a couple knees um and then yeah and then
00:07:17.480 they arrest me uh and then yeah i didn't i didn't hear any you're under arrest anything i just get
00:07:25.160 a push um i stumble back of course um and then i'm just kind of standing there shocked motionless
00:07:31.640 puzzled on why i just got pushed by the officer very confused and then um yeah within maybe a
00:07:37.560 couple seconds later they just swore me maybe five six officers and then three
00:07:42.600 of them end up throwing me to the ground I ends up I end up injuring my finger
00:07:46.340 and my knee and uh yeah and then they this is it in slow motion so I'll play
00:07:53.260 it for you guys one more time starting from the beginning sorry let's start
00:07:57.780 from the beginning one second this is the same clip in slow motion
00:08:07.560 yeah that's you standing stoically and then they just grab you do you know where these police are
00:08:13.560 from these are ottawa police ottawa police interesting um what's it like to like re-watch
00:08:23.740 that clip uh it's it's it's hard you know um i'm getting i'm kind of getting used to it after
00:08:32.500 watching it several times during the trial as well but uh yeah it is pretty hard watching that
00:08:38.160 you know nobody likes to see themselves get absolutely manhandled and thrown violently to
00:08:43.560 the ground and you know now my finger's busted you know looks like i got frankenstein's finger
00:08:49.040 that's to put a little humor into it but and once and once again there's always like a pattern
00:08:56.520 to to who they target uh you know whether it's jeremy mckenzie morgan may arthur pavlowski
00:09:02.780 uh barber tamara lich the organizers uh you know pat king like there's there's always a pattern to
00:09:10.540 like who they target you're someone who i don't know if they knew that you're a performer but
00:09:14.680 aside from that you're also like a tall guy you're a tall good-looking attractive like guy thank you
00:09:20.680 i appreciate that and uh like a leader so to speak like if you were to like look at a crowd
00:09:25.640 to freedom fighters say hey that guy looks like a leader he's stoic and they picked on you yeah
00:09:30.840 and uh and he's a black man yeah but what the hell there's a color guy we're getting them you
00:09:38.320 know yeah yeah uh yeah it's like the cops just like went on like autopilot like get the black
00:09:43.440 guy uh yeah exactly oh he's the first one i see we're getting them grab them but um
00:09:48.380 so i i encourage you to kind of get the receipts or get the transcript from the court cases that
00:09:55.360 you went through because that'll be the actual receipts to show like this is what these cops
00:10:00.320 said about this situation. I mean, we were having a phone call yesterday. You were kind of sharing
00:10:04.640 me like the worst of the worst. You said that one of the cops said that you tried to grab their
00:10:12.480 baton. They said this like on the stand? Yep, on the stand. Do they swear an oath before saying
00:10:21.440 this stuff a funny thing um so myself and uh my my buddy devon who actually went on stand um to
00:10:31.020 plea you know my my innocence as well we were the only ones that swore on the bible um all the
00:10:37.020 officers chose to uh swear to the court basically and i i find that funny because let's just say
00:10:44.620 oh got a little blur there no worries let's just say um let's just say they don't even
00:10:49.780 believe in god or they don't believe in the bible so what would it be for them to swear on it then
00:10:54.280 if they didn't even believe in that so that's why i just kind of find it funny because at first i'm
00:10:58.140 like maybe they didn't swear on the bible because maybe they're not religious maybe they don't
00:11:01.980 believe in god which is that's you know if that's their choice that's their choice no problem at all
00:11:05.860 but then i'm like hmm but you know what that wouldn't make any sense because if they didn't
00:11:10.000 believe then it would be nothing for them to swear on a bible on a book that they don't believe in
00:11:13.860 right so i kind of find that i found that a little funny i'm just left here thinking you know what
00:11:19.560 are the consequences of these cops lying you know uh they're supposed to be the best of the best
00:11:25.880 protect and serve blah blah blah they're connected to the judicial system law enforcement judicial
00:11:30.940 system hand in hand it's supposed to be in their integrity uh honor all of these words that kind
00:11:38.620 of defines are supposed to define this institution and we have how many how many cops lied on the
00:11:45.140 stand would you say four officers four four different officers all told the same lie or
00:11:51.520 different lies well ultimately it was the same lie um stating that i grabbed the officer's baton
00:11:59.820 and i threw a punch at an officer but it all their stories were all mixed up you know but
00:12:06.240 that was the main thing that they were trying to say though yeah they obviously kind of corroborated
00:12:10.880 um and just to go back to the slow-mo clip here i'm guessing the four different officers were uh
00:12:17.680 there's like three who tackle you right yeah well yeah there's like five right as soon as they grab
00:12:23.540 me there's three of them oh yeah there's like there's four of them around you there yeah and
00:12:28.080 then three yeah and then three when they get me to the ground and presumably it's like four of the
00:12:33.000 guys over there i guess that we're seeing that were on on the stand yeah well actually one of
00:12:39.040 them excuse me the main officer that's accusing me of these things is the one that throws me
00:12:44.720 to the other officer he's the one that pushed me actually the one that's accusing me of doing
00:12:48.500 all these things as you can see now in the video it's so it's so unprovoked it's oh yeah i'm i'm
00:12:55.880 just standing there like why did i just get pushed and then they're like well grab them
00:12:59.160 yeah and then um your your uh your consequence is just uh standing standing around yeah and
00:13:07.300 that step in the one that testified uh with me he's there beside me right there in the frame
00:13:11.640 he was charged as well no he wasn't charged no yeah he just came exactly yeah got it i'm not
00:13:18.400 if you guys couldn't tell i'm not very good with this legal stuff i'm always playing catch up
00:13:21.780 in conversations like this but um so you told me these other lies they said they you tried to grab
00:13:27.660 the baton they they said that they that you threw a haymaker at them yeah yeah specific word haymaker
00:13:34.700 because uh they asked well how could you describe the uh the punch that was thrown
00:13:40.180 and the officer said haymaker and every a haymaker your honor yeah and uh they
00:13:46.360 the judge even laughed the judge said uh haymaker wow okay he's like um all right
00:13:51.780 haymaker okay that's that's that's wild um yeah did what this clip obviously was not part of the
00:14:02.360 stack of evidence i'm guessing like the cops didn't know about this clip how did this clip
00:14:06.160 come into the equation um well proving proving your innocence by the way and proving that these
00:14:11.920 uh cops are lying yeah well i i had to do a lot of due diligence um first of all and um
00:14:19.320 i we happened to get uh footage from rebel news alexa um twitter um thank god for that i was super
00:14:27.680 thankful for that um because at the time we couldn't really find much um and then that video
00:14:32.800 uh that she had on her live stream on rebel news um had everything and uh helped yeah
00:14:38.560 helped clear my name so shout outs to alexa from rebel news yes uh saving potentially saving your
00:14:46.960 ass from a lot of oh 100 no 100 my lawyer did say he would it would have been very difficult
00:14:53.600 if you did not have that footage even though the the police don't have any footage or evidence
00:14:58.080 themselves just by them saying verbally with four officers going on stands saying oh this person did
00:15:03.920 this but he's like yeah you would have you would have got locked up and it happens to a lot of
00:15:07.760 people worldwide yeah it's scary it's very scary and this is a perfect example when people say
00:15:13.520 that your best weapon and your best defense is your phone is your camera is your video camera
00:15:19.680 If you're going to a protest, clear out all of the old videos and stuff, you know, clear out that hard drive on your phone, guys, clean it up, you know, delete the old WhatsApp videos, get in there, clean out your hard drive and record everything.
00:15:32.780 OK, because it could literally be the difference between an innocent verdict and a guilty verdict, a not guilty or a guilty verdict.
00:15:42.840 And I mean, it's scary to think, like, what would the consequences be if you didn't have this video clip?
00:15:48.220 would you actually be sentenced like would you be doing time yeah nine months uh nine nine months
00:15:55.020 if i was uh what do they say if i was good or something six months but over half of a year
00:16:02.220 half of a year and up yeah for something that i didn't do at all which is the scary part about it
00:16:08.060 you know because people this happens to people all the time right so that's why when you hear
00:16:11.980 people like i'm actually innocent like i'm actually innocent i really didn't do anything and they're
00:16:15.740 Like, uh, I don't know if he was, or, you know, I'm not too sure,
00:16:19.740 but just like what you said, you know, we need more independent journalists to be,
00:16:24.440 you know, like boots down in there recording everything does.
00:16:28.700 You don't have to be an independent journalist.
00:16:30.020 Just always have a recording.
00:16:32.540 Make sure you have everything recorded exactly because you can help somebody
00:16:37.640 out just like myself and without even knowing it rebel news had no clue that
00:16:40.920 they were going to be helping me out with this, you know, but they did.
00:16:44.120 Shout-outs again to Alexa.
00:16:46.560 Yeah.
00:16:47.140 And let's go over a couple more lies because it kind of gets even worse.
00:16:53.220 It says here in my notes that the cops said that you threatened them
00:16:59.280 and that the cops were scared for their life.
00:17:03.660 Yeah, so one cop said that I was very threatening.
00:17:09.720 I was threatening him, and, of course, my lawyer is like,
00:17:13.380 so what was he saying exactly that was threatening and then he said that i should be
00:17:18.140 basically basically yeah he actually said that um he kept saying i should be ashamed of myself
00:17:25.220 and everybody in the courtroom was kind of like how is that a threat bro yeah like that's
00:17:30.520 is there anything else or that's it and then yeah you just finished it like that
00:17:34.420 so um i guess saying you should be ashamed of yourself is now a threat
00:17:38.040 and um very scary i guess because yeah he was scared for his safety apparently so
00:17:43.820 i mean and he was the biggest one there which is kind of crazy and the most violent one
00:17:49.320 um he's the one that's literally pushing me pushing everybody and all the footage
00:17:53.520 throughout all the lives um all the altercations i have to do with the cops at rolling thunder it's
00:18:00.940 always that guy and he just kind of throws me into the other group of officers and then
00:18:06.200 jumps right back in line oh another sorry another major thing i forgot to say this
00:18:15.720 he's actually he's been on sick no not sick sorry stress leave
00:18:22.760 ever since when what do you mean he's been on stress leave since when
00:18:25.720 since since rolling thunder he's been on stress leave apparently so just just a coincidence right
00:18:31.960 after he does all that to me and then now he's on sick leave i mean sorry but i keep saying sickly
00:18:36.660 stress leave well maybe cassius maybe you were so intimidating by shaming him that he's uh you
00:18:43.540 know having a mental health break because of your uh yelling freedom and stuff yeah and he should
00:18:48.900 be ashamed of himself yeah yeah i guess i heard him deep man well hey i mean like we can we can
00:18:55.460 kind of laugh about it now that's you that you're okay that you're out of out of the woods but like
00:18:59.380 this should not obviously not be happening no is there an opportunity for you to sue somebody
00:19:06.820 and gets get your money back at the very least of all this trouble it seems outrageous i'm pretty
00:19:13.000 sure you're not allowed to lie as a police officer especially when there's evidence proving that um
00:19:18.380 is there a path forward for that oh most definitely um i'm definitely going to be uh
00:19:24.400 you know suing for sure um because the whole the whole thing was the reason why we forcefully
00:19:33.620 arrested you know him was because he was aggressive the entire time and that he grabbed an officer's
00:19:40.280 weapon and that he threw a haymaker at an officer so that gives us the right to forcefully arrest
00:19:47.420 him but i didn't do any of that so they just forcefully assaulted and falsely arrested me
00:19:54.760 for no reason so yeah i'm most definitely i'm going to be suing um unfortunately the low my
00:20:00.380 my lawyer is only a defense lawyer so um i am still currently looking for a lawyer to help me sue
00:20:07.720 all right you heard it folks we need to find cassius julius a lawyer to sue the government
00:20:14.520 If you know somebody, share this video with them so they know all the details.
00:20:18.600 This could be a payday for the lawyer.
00:20:20.100 I don't know what motivates the lawyer, but don't take it personally, lawyer, if you're listening.
00:20:27.840 But help our boy out.
00:20:29.000 Help our guy out.
00:20:30.680 And let's get some justice here, okay?
00:20:33.940 Four cops lying.
00:20:36.100 Lying.
00:20:37.620 And for what?
00:20:38.960 To add to the narrative, I guess, right?
00:20:40.640 To add to the narrative that the—
00:20:43.640 all the freedom movement is terrible we're all terrorists and you know whatever they want to try
00:20:49.120 to paint us as yeah um i brought up this at the beginning this um you know this article from
00:20:55.640 western standard about your story have you been covered anywhere else has anyone kind of alluded
00:21:00.720 to this story even if it's like a negative thing of like oh you're one of the people who got
00:21:03.900 arrested a rolling thunder some violent thug no no uh just that one article and uh this this live
00:21:13.640 stream here with yourself amazing amazing so yeah definitely let's get the word out there uh for
00:21:20.700 cassius here and i to put a like cherry on top of the story what i think is really cool is well
00:21:27.720 let's let's go back to this moment one last time you know this happens you uh they push you you
00:21:35.300 stand there stoically they tear you to the ground rough you up what happened immediately after this
00:21:41.880 did you go to the police station or what happened um no they bring me um to some random street
00:21:50.260 maybe like 10 minutes down the road from here 15 minutes not even 10 minutes down the road from
00:21:55.160 here they put me in a paddy wagon uh by myself uh handcuffs were super tight behind my back
00:22:01.640 um i asked them to loosen it of course they didn't loosen it because they're thinking that
00:22:06.460 i grabbed an officer's weapon and punched an officer right because they're listening to what
00:22:10.320 all the other officers are saying to them so of course they're not going to help me out so they
00:22:14.000 didn't even even at that time they were telling that lie of like oh yeah they tried to grab us
00:22:20.440 he threatened for my life and and he intimidated me and he threw a haymaker at me like they were
00:22:25.720 saying that right as it was happening as well no not right as it happened no um they they basically
00:22:32.260 just uh pushed me grabbed me threw me to the ground handcuffed me and then they all i think
00:22:37.700 went right back into the line or they went somewhere else and then uh i got put into a
00:22:42.240 police cruiser um that's when they did their that's when they told me my rights is then um
00:22:49.900 and then yeah they bring me to a paddy wagon and i was in the paddy wagon for a couple hours
00:22:54.340 then they bring me to the police station and then i was uh in the uh jail cellar for
00:23:00.380 several hours and uh no medical attention on my finger i was injured um and yeah
00:23:08.420 Just say I treated me like basically dirt
00:23:12.420 What I think is beautiful, I'm gonna play this clip in a second, but you you made it back to the protest the very next day with it
00:23:18.020 with the broken finger and
00:23:19.860 Yep, I did cast there. I'll play the clip right here. I think there's audio. So we'll let it play
00:23:37.840 that's beautiful that's beautiful so you you you made it you made it back that day look at all that
00:23:50.300 love um and i'll pause it you can see that you got uh like a little splint on your hand
00:23:58.740 yeah right there yeah right on my middle finger on my right hand holding the microphone yeah
00:24:04.200 so even after all of that you're like i got a gig i got a gig to get to you know because you had a
00:24:11.540 gig gig the next day and you and you made it which is uh which is beautiful and uh it looks like you
00:24:16.780 get emotional here with tell me what was kind of going through your mind when this happened
00:24:20.680 oh man i was just absolutely uh overwhelmed with emotion um you know still frustrated and upset
00:24:29.880 about what had happened just the night prior to that um you know just so happy and thankful
00:24:36.800 to all the love and support around me um you know people singing along to my song
00:24:42.120 people cheering me on you know like the love was just unreal and all my emotions just came
00:24:48.360 together all at once and i'm just like it just broke down you know which i don't really do
00:24:54.660 in front of people to, you know, too often. Um, but yeah, no, at that, that exact moment,
00:25:00.160 it just, it really hit me. And, um, you know, you just see how much love is there in the,
00:25:05.980 in the freedom movement, you know? So yeah, my emotions just got super overwhelmed.
00:25:12.580 That's beautiful, man. That's beautiful. And I'm glad you're free. I hope you can find a lawyer to
00:25:18.140 help you sue the government guys. If you know anybody, try to try to get the story out there.
00:25:22.160 um because i think there's going to be more of this there's going to be more of this vindication
00:25:25.860 and you're right that that was definitely a convoy group hug if i've ever seen one but
00:25:31.200 we're gonna we're gonna wrap it up here but i do want to play a new song uh for the people
00:25:37.120 listening tell us about this song that i'm about to play here amazing yeah um so my new song it's
00:25:43.860 called time of my life and um it basically kind of goes over what i was dealing with that whole
00:25:50.660 year and a half leading up to my trial um you know so there's a lot of emotion into this song
00:25:56.820 um and i don't want to say that much more um i hope everybody goes and listens to it and uh
