00:00:00.000 hello everyone such a great tune as i'm scanning documents into my computer right now because
00:00:30.000 work day has been it's been an office day if people don't want to see me below the belt because i'm
00:00:36.000 still wearing my sweatpants because i have not been out of the house yet it's been a stupid day
00:00:40.640 for paperwork wow so it's not even house arrest you can't even blame it on that no perfect day
00:00:47.280 would be working outside in the shop or out in the yard but no i've been doing customs paperwork
00:00:52.800 we got some cool stuff coming up at cb trucking i'm gonna give some hinters i can't say any names
00:00:58.400 yet but we've been uh we've been contracted by a fairly big ag company in the province of
00:01:04.700 saskatchewan to make a special delivery to montana to a special farmyard and we're going
00:01:11.980 to be promoting this probably next week maybe it'll start tomorrow i don't want to say anything
00:01:16.020 because uh obviously there's a cloud of secrecy around it but big red will be involved with
00:01:20.360 something pretty heavy on youtube here next week and i am like i am super pumped super pumped
00:01:26.600 that's no kidding i guess in the comments and i won't answer anyway but you can try
00:01:31.720 and i'll i'll uh i'll like them for sure that's right hello uh i'm doing awesome
00:01:39.320 actually i've i'm tired obviously but just like you it's been a really busy week
00:01:44.200 it has going on and you know just the use okay i am done with the office work officially so
00:01:52.280 my apologies no problem i don't mind if you if you multi-task hey shaylen um hi jacke
00:02:04.280 let us know we're at guys i want to see where everybody's at let's give your province or your
00:02:12.600 passed up a good one today somebody asked me to go all the way to victoria bc
00:02:16.920 hook up to a boat and tow it all the way to new brunswick
00:02:19.640 of course i've got i'm booked and this was a panic load so that would have been a cool trip
00:02:25.560 i really wanted that yeah that would have been a great trip maybe not so much this time of year
00:02:31.440 but you know i guess it's just it'll be good oh it's been busy yeah it has been busy um yeah well
00:02:40.900 i mean what else have i been up to obviously i did a little bit of a rant there on social media
00:02:45.600 as I had a bit of an issue with the duty officer
00:02:51.200 when I was trying to stay at the food bank later on Friday.
00:02:55.780 So I filed a complaint or made a complaint,
00:02:59.300 and I feel like that's sort of been dealt with now at least.
00:03:02.140 But, you know, I'll tell people a little bit about what happened.
00:03:07.740 Friday, I volunteer at the food bank every Monday, Wednesday, Friday,
00:03:13.220 my schedule permitting.
00:03:14.240 and when i arrived there on friday like it was complete chaos there was no there was not a lot
00:03:20.580 of help there the back was full the shelves needed to be stocked it was super busy
00:03:25.960 friday is the busiest day of course and then also i was training um someone that it was his first
00:03:31.780 day and he didn't speak very good english so of course that really slowed me down
00:03:35.140 so just before lunch i called my probation officer just to see if i could um stay an extra hour
00:03:42.020 Because sometimes they can give you a really quick email exemption to grant you an extra hour, right?
00:03:49.500 So I'd have my letter on it if I got stopped on the way home and I was past my time to be home.
00:03:55.140 As long as I had that email, it would be okay.
00:03:58.080 And it happens.
00:03:59.120 Like, I'll tell you one thing.
00:04:00.260 I don't know about you, Chris, but I never submit a request, a work request or any type of exemption request, expecting them to say yes.
00:04:08.160 I don't take it for granted when they do. And I go in fully understanding that it could be denied.
00:04:15.200 And I'm okay with that. I get the situation that we're in. C'est la vie, mon ami, you know.
00:04:21.320 But so anyways, I got a hold of this lady just before lunch and she was very kind.
00:04:26.100 And I explained the situation and she said, oh, yeah, that, you know, I don't think that's going to be a problem.
00:04:31.460 That shouldn't be a problem. Tamara, just call back at one o'clock. She called me by name.
00:04:34.520 just call back at one o'clock and talk to this person and she gave me her her direct line and
00:04:39.640 her name and i said okay but do i have to leave here at one o'clock and make my way home until i
00:04:46.360 connect with her or can i stay um until i contact her because of course i don't want to go to jail
00:04:53.320 i take my conditions very very seriously so anyways um so i called at one o'clock i called
00:05:00.340 like five times because because i wanted to make sure i got a hold of her and we finally connected
00:05:05.580 and i could tell immediately like immediately anytime i've called this office for and i have
00:05:11.640 to deal with a duty counsel that is not my regular cso um the first thing out of their lips is to let
00:05:18.040 you know how busy they are with their own clients you know like you're a horrible inconvenience
00:05:24.700 um and that's exactly what happened and i'm like well i'm so sorry um i said i know you're busy
00:05:31.080 and she said well what's going on here or anyway she was just very rude which really isn't the
00:05:37.480 problem i mean i don't have hurt feelings but so i i explained the situation to her and she said
00:05:43.980 well i'm i'm not prepared i'm busy with my own client i'm not prepared to give you an
00:05:48.340 exemption on such short notice and i said okay but i should stop talking because i'm naturally
00:05:54.740 curious now i'm thinking well you know why was the first lady that i talked to so kind and sweet and
00:06:00.580 it shouldn't be a problem and then i get this complete other end of the spectrum on the phone
00:06:06.340 from a different lady in the same office and so i i asked her that like and it just sort of came
00:06:13.300 out of my mouth i was like well then why did that other lady say this was okay she's like
00:06:16.980 Like, Tamara, I am telling you right now as you're acting CSO to go home at your designated time.
00:06:25.480 I don't have time.
00:06:27.640 And I'm leaving a note for Megan.
00:06:29.700 I'm like, you do that.
00:06:31.380 You leave a note for me.
00:06:32.300 I didn't say that, of course.
00:06:33.500 But I'm like, lady, do you know how there are so many binders full of notes that have been left about me?
00:06:38.720 You would feel your postage stamp of an office.
00:06:41.640 You know, like you do that.
00:06:43.800 You go ahead and leave a note.
00:06:44.880 but anyways so i was like okay well no problem i'll go home but my and my issue wasn't even that
00:06:50.920 my issue was that and this is what i said to this this manager at the thing today if you are going
00:06:58.340 to offer a service and that service is providing us offenders um with a backup plan when our cso's
00:07:07.540 aren't available then you should provide that service and you should provide it in such a way
00:07:13.860 that every time i call there i don't feel like i'm a horrible inconvenience because i'm trying
00:07:18.540 to get an exemption to do my job or volunteer at the food bank so anyways that was sort of how my
00:07:26.180 friday went and uh i finally got a chance to talk to this lady today so yeah i was pretty happy with
00:07:31.720 how the conversation went i felt like like she listened to what i had to say and um we'll see
00:07:38.460 we'll see what happens now anybody's got any questions about what like what life is like for
00:07:44.760 Tamara and I right now I just pulled up my 24-hour curfew instruction order Monday March 23rd 8 30
00:07:52.100 a.m to 12 you know to 12 p.m midnight employment haul tractor from Saskia from Swift Current to
00:07:58.300 Saskatoon Saskatchewan reload in Saskatoon and head to Alberta permitted to stop for fuel food
00:08:04.060 and rest on route and then it'll go through tuesday you know and i have to plan this entire
00:08:09.180 week out day by day by day so i know monday mornings you know let's face it most government
00:08:15.640 employees they don't come into work till what 8 30 9 o'clock in the morning my day's already three
00:08:20.220 hours in generically so i need to have my schedule set out for monday morning at 16 in the morning
00:08:26.400 so i can get up and go to work right away and then if it's not set up that way then i'm behind
00:08:31.080 and you know that's exactly what if I'm late coming home if I'm in a snowstorm
00:08:37.620 or I get stuck in traffic or a piece of equipment doesn't start and I'm an hour
00:08:41.400 late or even one minute late after my schedule when I say I'm gonna be home at
00:08:45.120 10 o'clock on Thursday night I have to phone the local detachment RCMP and say
00:08:50.520 I ran into problems I'm gonna be over my curfew order because obviously the
00:08:53.900 government employee office business is closed that office and every time I've
00:08:58.680 to do that i've had amazing response from rcmp members they've been very easy to get along with
00:09:03.000 i have it absolutely no complaints no visits from rcmp at my house as of this day yet i did tell
00:09:09.400 them when they do come out let me know and i'll put a cup put a coffee on and we'll have a visit
00:09:13.720 i have no problem with that i've always had a lot of respect for law enforcement and they show the
00:09:17.480 respect in return which is nice so it might happen it probably will happen tamara's unfortunately had
00:09:24.120 had a visit though right i've had two really i've had two visits yeah they showed up here a couple
00:09:30.200 weeks ago on i think it was a saturday morning or a sunday morning and i was sitting here with
00:09:34.600 my grandkids uh we were all in our robes still it was i don't know it was like 11 30 in the morning
00:09:39.680 we were all kind of having a lazy morning just sitting on the couch so really friendly guy big
00:09:44.140 smile just doing a just doing a curfew check like i'm here they're doing their job and you know i
00:09:51.160 understand that and appreciate that it's uh you know getting woke up at two or three in the morning
00:09:55.900 when like i said i'm 50 years old now i like to go to bed at night and go to sleep i'm not out here
00:09:59.740 trying to break any rules and i think they know that so but by all means i said i've got two
00:10:04.220 really big dogs in the yard and my yard is black at night i do that for a reason so you know i can
00:10:09.280 see some intruder before they see me basically i know the landscape but being that being said i
00:10:15.720 got two big intimidating looking dogs little do they know that they would pretty much you know
00:10:20.460 take them to where the key is and let them into the house if they could you know charlie and zeke
00:10:25.080 pretty good but i don't want any intimidation or anybody thinking they're going to get hurt and
00:10:29.440 hurting a dog so and uh they've been really good with that so that's good yeah they've been both
00:10:36.080 times they were here i mean the first time obviously they showed up at my house at a
00:10:39.380 ridiculous time it was like 12 30 in the morning or something like that on a tuesday night like
00:10:44.300 where do you think i'm going to be at 12 30 in the morning i'm 53 years old guys i need two
00:10:49.140 grandchildren sleeping in the house to remember that exactly that's exactly right so what do you
00:10:54.020 think i would be doing exactly well i mean that's that's exactly right i mean anytime that i go
00:10:59.940 anywhere i mean i have to plan out my entire itinerary just like you said um which is not so
00:11:06.100 bad to do if i'm traveling around southern alberta or southern saskatchewan because i'm so familiar
00:11:10.580 with that area i know off the top of my head how long it takes to get from here to here
00:11:15.460 approximately when i'm going to need to use the washroom when i'm going to need to get fuel when
00:11:19.700 i'm going to get hungry so i mean we that has to all be scheduled out and that all goes on there
00:11:24.820 like even just to calgary if i got to stop in basano to grab a coffee and use the bathroom
00:11:29.700 that goes in there right stop in basano but when we actually when we just did that independence
00:11:35.780 tour with sheila gun reed and corey morgan trying to plan that out up north was uh well it was it
00:11:42.340 it was a little bit difficult because I don't know that area.
00:11:45.640 So I don't know the stops.
00:11:47.000 So,
00:11:47.280 I mean,
00:11:48.120 luckily I'm very lucky that Dwayne can come with me to a lot of these
00:11:50.920 things.
00:11:51.300 So if there's something like that happens,
00:11:52.900 I can stay at the hotel and he can run out and get food or fuel up or get
00:11:57.340 whatever we need.
00:11:58.140 Right.
00:11:58.420 So,
00:11:58.780 but there's a few times if I would have been on my own,
00:12:00.920 I would have been in,
00:12:02.100 would have been in trouble.
00:12:03.540 And that's,
00:12:04.160 I think my schedule has gotten somewhat easier since when I first started,
00:12:08.080 it was like that too.
00:12:08.900 It was like,
00:12:09.180 where are you stopping to eat?
00:12:10.240 Where are you stopping to sleep?
00:12:11.340 Well,
00:12:11.460 when you're trucking,
00:12:12.040 you really don't know your schedule especially in the wintertime with the snowstorms and you know
00:12:16.360 equipment starting or not starting yesterday i was in a blizzard from uh melfort to saskatoon it
00:12:21.300 was absolutely horrible almost zero visibility at times but now she's got to the point where i say
00:12:26.680 hey i'm going to go to saskatoon on monday and i'm going to go to standard alberta on tuesday and i'm
00:12:30.480 going to come home and i'll be home it just says in route travel wherever you need to stop for your
00:12:34.660 breaks and your rest and your fuel so it is getting a lot easier and of course when i do a load to the
00:12:39.360 states across the border and i don't know where i'm going a logbook only allows me and i have a
00:12:45.140 detailed record of everywhere i stop in the amount of time i stop because of the government mandated
00:12:50.800 electronic logbooks that are on every commercial vehicle so bigger you're like the easiest guy to
00:12:56.000 track really i mean my children i have an app on our phone called what is it um family find or
00:13:03.200 something i've always had to deal with my children and they you know they can monitor where i am at
00:13:07.360 all times and i can monitor where they am and i really like that and so everything's monitored
00:13:12.720 and i thought about maybe just saying hey here's my password for my my locator thing but i don't
00:13:18.580 really want that much no kidding just so they can be extra double shirt don't give too much of those
00:13:25.560 freedoms away there mr barber we're losing enough as it is i can prove where i am that's all it
00:13:30.160 comes down to so well what we're almost coming up on on six months of our house arrest we've got
00:13:35.940 six months to go yet and then we go into the curfew stage so i have a lawyer calling me right
00:13:41.780 now and i'm gonna let that one pass here oh that's an issue well it's for the uh
00:13:50.660 most people know that my cell phone was confiscated when i was arrested by ottawa police back in
00:13:54.420 february 2022 and they uh they broke into that cell phone and they downloaded 4200 pages of
00:14:00.500 cell phone evidence and the crown prosecutor at the time in ottawa tamara was right there
00:14:06.420 she seen it in the courtroom had it basically handed the thumb drive off to the media on a
00:14:11.620 thursday of a long weekend and that was my cell phone evidence and the media had my you know
00:14:16.660 entire conversations with my mother my father my ex-wife my wife my children my business customers
00:14:22.660 you name it everything and like why is that important but there it was so she's either
00:14:29.500 yeah i was just thinking you know maybe if our lawyers are calling us in the middle of our show
00:14:34.360 we should answer it maybe they're calling us for a reason put them on speakerphone and have a
00:14:39.020 conversation yeah no kidding no solicitor client privilege there um but yeah you're absolutely
00:14:45.920 right it's i can't believe it it's already been just about six months um now i i don't know what
00:14:51.340 happens with curfew and if you're under curfew are you pretty much allowed to go wherever you
00:14:56.000 want throughout the day as long as you're back in your home like do you still have to report where
00:15:01.040 you're going to be all the time you know that's the question i don't know i i'm curious as of
00:15:08.740 october 7th i'll you know like a little bit of a freedom will light up i guess when we're allowed
00:15:12.460 to to you know not report what we're doing through the course of our day but we have to be home from
00:15:16.780 10 a 10 p.m to 5 a.m so even when i'm trucking am i gonna have to have like a schedule saying
00:15:24.300 i'm not sure how that's gonna go i just kind of live day by day right now it's funny that you
00:15:28.300 know we fought against a lot of these these freedoms that were being taken in return for
00:15:33.020 taking part in the convoy our freedoms have been limited for you know 18 months i guess till 2027.
00:15:38.620 we're in lockdown we're in lockdown but really i've got the sweatpants to prove it
00:15:44.220 me too but like every you know and i said that on a social media post i every time i'm out here on
00:15:51.820 the highway i i'm approached by somebody almost at every stop and they want to have a conversation
00:15:57.900 they want to tell me you know what their experience was or how something a convoy
00:16:02.300 affected them in a positive way would give them hope and you know we saved a lot of lives and i
00:16:07.180 i stand behind that well like i said it's crazy to believe that this is where it's all ended up
00:16:14.620 but you know i don't have any regrets i i'm for yeah like i've said many times you know just for
00:16:21.980 what to have one person say that our actions are um the things that we did save their life
00:16:27.980 is good enough for me i'm living in a house with my husband and my grandchildren and my daughter
00:16:33.260 and my dog and you know i got a roof over my head i get to go volunteer three times a week like
00:16:38.860 everything i need can be delivered right to my door except for justice and so you know c'est la
00:16:46.300 vie as i said our stories will be told so and uh no doubt about that i met an amazing couple
00:16:53.980 in milford yesterday i stopped to get a coffee at mcdonald's on my way through milford and jody
00:16:58.140 and her husband i want to see her new husband's name was kevin um just drove up in a pickup truck
00:17:03.180 and got a photo and wanted to have a quick chat and that was yeah and she at the end told stories
00:17:09.740 of just what life was like and how it affected them and how they looked at the convoy and you
00:17:14.380 know that puts a little pip in your step for the day and but that happens almost everywhere i stop
00:17:19.100 it's amazing so mm-hmm yeah we're so lucky that way it is uh it's really weird being recognized
00:17:27.340 still i was just talking with tasha about that today actually it's really strange to be
00:17:31.820 oh because there's these imposter accounts like you know people like are making fake accounts
00:17:37.340 with my name on them like and i just that's that's feel just feels so weird to me like why would you
00:17:41.500 want to do that and then people people that actively don't like you and you live rent-free
00:17:46.620 in their thick skulls are thinking those are actually yours and then commenting back and
00:17:51.100 triggered off of them it's absolutely hilarious i saw that this is hilarious it is hilarious
00:17:56.780 you know the jokes write themselves honestly uh like we don't even need to do anything chris
00:18:02.220 that's what's so awesome about some of those situations you kind of give them enough you know
00:18:07.340 that old saying giving them give them enough for open they basically you know with their cells so
00:18:11.660 that's what's happening that's exactly right yeah exactly so so we kind of wanted to start just try
00:18:18.460 to do something a little bit different and i thought you know we had a lot of questions asked
00:18:22.140 all the time especially in the comment section and tamara has a couple questions for me and i
00:18:25.900 have a couple questions for her just to initiate a conversation and then maybe we thought we would
00:18:30.300 go into the comment section and answer a few of those you know keep them gentle because obviously
00:18:34.620 our handlers might be really concerned if we ask you know answer the wrong questions right
00:18:39.660 yeah we'll be careful we know what we know what we can say and what we what we can't say
00:18:44.620 oh i missed the first part of that yes i got you now exactly i'm on speed dial we'll get
00:18:51.900 him on speed dial here so we can go on and ask if we can answer these questions hi susan
00:18:56.800 yeah exactly i mean i want to definitely spend some time tonight we just don't do enough for
00:19:01.540 that i definitely want to spend some time tonight um just answering questions from our community
00:19:06.380 and yeah we've had some amazing amazing guests and everything but it's good to also i just want
00:19:13.760 i get to know everyone i'm so grateful that they're all joining us we got we got stacy in
00:19:20.580 the comments we got susan in the comments we got carla uh there's lots of people in the comments
00:19:26.000 right now yeah baba susie good last i checked on zippy he was in the our little sunroom-ish
00:19:34.120 edition on the house chilling out with zeke laid out across the couch and charlie laid across the
00:19:39.060 floor i walked in there and seen three dead dogs on the floor they're not dead of course but
00:19:43.360 they're uh acting like they are they're sleeping in those in the sunroom right now so lazy farm
00:19:48.500 life and you know it's a beautiful day out it was actually it snowed like crazy here this morning i
00:19:52.960 had trucks you know not sure if they should go anywhere yeah now the sun's shining it's a decent
00:19:59.820 day out there yeah it was brutal like brutal here this morning hi lori
00:20:04.000 why did you get involved with convoy simple why did i get involved i got involved because
00:20:17.940 i had i felt very early on that everything that i was seeing happening around me was
00:20:24.060 complete nonsense and didn't make any sense sorry reading dacey's message there um it didn't make
00:20:31.060 any sense to me. A lot of it seemed like it was really not based in science. I was in the fitness
00:20:37.760 profession for a long time as a personal trainer. And also as an instructor, I taught and certified
00:20:42.960 personal trainers, taught the nutrition program and stuff like that. So I mean, the first thing
00:20:47.900 they did was close the gyms. And I'm like, what? You know, I mean, the best way to stay healthy and
00:20:53.320 build a healthy immune system is to exercise. So just a lot of things off the bat didn't seem
00:20:59.620 didn't seem right to me and then of course you know the two years that followed um
00:21:05.700 i worked in a i worked in a office with people that were you know very vaccine eager and um
00:21:14.260 it was just difficult you know going into a store having to wear a mask and i was that person that
00:21:18.740 i'd put it on like like seething mad walking into a store like cursing and swearing under my breath
00:21:24.420 and the second i walked out i was like ripping it off my face you know what i mean like i was just
00:21:29.140 just like, are you guys kidding me? I am not a rocket scientist. I don't have a degree in anything,
00:21:34.480 but even I knew that that was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever seen. I mean, Duane used to walk
00:21:40.020 around with one of those things you just pulled up. He looked like an old time bank robber, you
00:21:43.600 know, but that was okay. Like that was totally okay. Same thing. Yeah. I don't think I even
00:21:48.720 washed them. Yeah. They sat in the truck all the time. And then of course, you know, there's all,
00:21:54.820 there was the human stories and for me it was not it wasn't even just the lying coming from the
00:21:59.440 government and all the nonsense coming from the public health officials it was the human stories
00:22:04.880 that I was seeing and hearing you know we all knew what it was like during that time people
00:22:09.600 were talking about it but not out loud it was all whispers and when somebody else wasn't around and
00:22:14.900 I mean I recognized right away that there there was a lot of people that didn't approve or like
00:22:20.980 what was happening but they everybody felt powerless yes people were driving to the
00:22:26.180 legislatures they were hosting rallies in calgary and all of the major cities they were hosting
00:22:31.140 rallies everywhere and everything just completely went ignored and i moved when duane and i moved
00:22:37.860 back to um medicine hat from manitoba when we got our jobs back that was like two months before the
00:22:44.100 the convoy started and oh shoot I just completely lost my train of thought oh well we're going with
00:22:51.520 that yeah we moved back to that or moved back to medicine hat got our jobs back oh yeah I remember
00:22:57.000 and of course I reconnected with my good friend Cindy Parker now Cindy um I've talked about her
00:23:02.240 in my book you know who she is she's uh very strong in the community out here she was on our
00:23:06.560 finance committee um really good friend of mine I connected with her right away and during that
00:23:12.060 time uh there was lots of secret meetings like everyone would put their cell phone somewhere and
00:23:17.260 drive out to a shop somewhere you know what i'm saying and so i got a hold of cindy right away
00:23:22.700 when i got back and i said you know take me to one of these meetings information meeting i've
00:23:26.780 got to do something we have to get involved and try and do what we can and so she did and i went
00:23:32.540 to uh i went to that one meeting the first meeting and uh it was pretty good turnout i was surprised
00:23:39.740 there was a very good turnout there um obviously a lot of people that i knew from my yellow westing
00:23:43.980 rally days um but a lot of new faces too few faces that i was actually surprised to see there
00:23:49.660 um and i remember cindy introduced me to the gentleman who was who was on the head of the
00:23:56.220 action committee and just kind of making a joke as cindy and i were leaving she introduced me to tom
00:24:01.660 and i i shook his hand and i said hi tom nice to meet you i said you're gonna want me on your
00:24:06.060 action committee and then like a week later you know is what i called you uh january 13th i'm
00:24:13.960 actually yeah it's hard to believe it's for four years and i write everything of my work and notes
00:24:18.380 in this book here and i could probably find the page where tamara called me and i wrote your
00:24:22.300 number down and yeah you said basically that you could specialize in logistics and organization
00:24:30.480 skills and internet setting up online you know our facebook our twitter and uh at that time we
00:24:39.600 needed help because we only on my side of it you got to remember that there was a bunch of different
00:24:44.260 sides that eventually came together to form convoy right and a bunch of sides now obviously
00:24:49.220 unfortunately um but it was uh yes inside outside and upside down yeah
00:24:59.440 different sides the fighting yeah and so that was basically that was basically it i got a hold of
00:25:06.240 you and um you know that's the last time i'm ever going to call you enough for my services sorry
00:25:12.400 you mean somebody messaged me the other day about hey chris you want to do another convoy or
00:25:16.560 something like that we're going to start one in may or something and i just thought no please no
00:25:21.040 come like no no i've you know i can just tell people from the experience that i've been through
00:25:28.000 in the last number of years that, you know, if the government wants to pick on you,
00:25:31.740 they will make the utmost horrible life they can for you as long as they can,
00:25:36.360 and that's what they've done with us for the last little while,
00:25:38.580 and others too, of course, but I'll still stress that, you know,
00:25:42.440 getting involved with local community and building, you know,
00:25:44.960 get the strength from within your community,
00:25:47.040 and then you have a better chance of fighting something like Ottawa,
00:25:49.820 you know, that's probably where we need to go right now.
00:25:52.540 Driving to Ottawa for another protest is pointless.
00:25:55.420 I do hate to say that but it was it was totally worth it when we did it in
00:25:59.200 February 2022 but now the different circumstances you know we need
00:26:04.100 community support there's a lot of there was a lot of unemployed truck drivers
00:26:08.780 too don't forget like people truck drivers aren't just gonna stop working
00:26:12.160 to do this they were forced into it like a lot of them that were even in Ottawa
00:26:16.900 when they asked you know when they were asked by reporters why they were there
00:26:20.440 why they weren't going back and they're like well what do I have to go back to
00:26:23.620 you know like and see i was different in that situation and i know i see the comments on that
00:26:28.280 every now and you know people you know kind of trying to troll me which is impossible to troll
00:26:32.080 me um i got vaccinated at the end of december in february in december of 2021 because i knew the
00:26:37.640 mandates were the 15th of january and i'd spent 20 years building my business and trying to look
00:26:43.460 after my customer base and i have a very loyal amazing customer base i was going to lose that
00:26:47.980 customer base and my my job and everything and so i i gave in like millions of other canadians
00:26:53.380 and I did what I had to do to keep my business.
00:26:56.240 But then what I found afterwards was the phone calls I was receiving
00:26:58.960 from the other people that I work with in the industry,
00:27:01.680 they were giving up.
00:27:02.760 They were, you know, retiring earlier.
00:27:04.680 They were, you know, running Canada.
00:27:06.480 They were doing everything they could to avoid the States,
00:27:08.240 and that was putting a lot of extra pressure on us.
00:27:11.760 And I really seen a huge thing, you know.
00:27:13.500 It was like enough people.
00:27:15.120 If we all just decide to stand, it ends, you know,
00:27:18.380 and that's exactly what was my mentality.
00:27:20.940 so what better way to debunk you know the haters against the convoy to say well the one that led
00:27:27.860 the convoy is actually vaccinated so this was never about vaccinations it was about government
00:27:33.300 mandates wake up to that fact yeah well and i mean obviously i like i've seen some posts about that
00:27:41.420 too and actually the my imposter posted that on that page also about we should start another
00:27:45.680 convoy but i mean we're on house arrest number one we're on house arrest so sorry we're not
00:27:50.780 going to be going anywhere in May number two our first our very first condition is what yeah
00:27:58.060 even with my job with rebel I have to be careful about some of the stuff and events that I go to
00:28:07.360 right because you see how they get treated Ezra's been arrested David Menzies has been arrested how
00:28:11.480 many times you know yes yeah so I mean even in some of those circumstances I have to be careful
00:28:19.420 because I can't put myself in a position where I'm not keeping the peace
00:28:22.380 and being of good behavior.
00:28:24.300 But not only that, you know, I think if people can form a convoy
00:28:31.040 and go to Ottawa, all the power to them.
00:28:32.940 I believe in peaceful protest.
00:28:36.240 And so I don't want to discourage anybody from doing it,
00:28:38.860 but they have to understand that, A, it's not going to be the same.
00:28:42.520 I mean, it's just a different circumstance.
00:28:44.500 It's a different world.
00:28:46.160 I mean, I certainly hope they can get the support
00:28:48.400 and do whatever they need to do.
00:28:49.780 I'm not paying any attention to it just because I can't.
00:28:53.900 I can't be involved, and neither can you.
00:28:57.600 But, you know, if that's what happens, I wish them well,
00:29:00.960 and I hope they have a safe and peaceful protest.
00:29:04.640 Yes, and that is, you know, still in Canada,
00:29:07.040 something that we're allowed to do is protest, or so you thought, right?
00:29:09.860 We tried that, and we've wound up through the courts for the last while.
00:29:13.200 But I don't believe it's like, yeah, you know,
00:29:15.320 power in the people would be in your individual provinces,
00:29:18.400 you know making noise and making sure ottawa sees that you look at the way the alberta independence
00:29:22.240 movement's going right now the government's scared and you get somebody like carney who has
00:29:27.040 never mentioned it but tries to denounce it or you got somebody like pure polyev who goes on joe rogan
00:29:32.320 and talks about it's not going to happen we need somebody to unite this country i was personally i
00:29:37.280 was impressed with with uh with polyev when he said that um i think it's we need a leader in
00:29:42.400 this country has did he do the right things during covid no i think we all seen that so i'm no way
00:29:47.440 i'm trying to defend actions through that because i know that i'll get roasted in the comment section
00:29:52.080 for that i've seen a lot of disappointment through covet i've seen it especially through
00:29:56.160 my leader in saskatchewan here scott moe i felt really there's animosity for the way that he
00:30:00.560 treated people during covet you know some of the harsh things that he said and especially through
00:30:05.520 the conservative party wasn't basically standing there like they should have so yeah yeah there
00:30:14.080 There will never be another Woodstock, and there will never be another Freedom Convoy like that.
00:30:18.660 Anyways, that's for sure.
00:30:21.000 So, answer me another question.
00:30:22.620 Was there any political interference from you during the protests in Ottawa?
00:30:29.380 Did you find any of the parties trying to, you know, politicize you or push you in a narrative or a direction?
00:30:34.820 Were you motivated by that anywhere?
00:30:37.320 No.
00:30:38.060 No, absolutely not.
00:30:39.060 I certainly wasn't motivated by politics other than the politics that we were all having stuffed down our throats, that's for sure.
00:30:48.360 I know that's quite funny.
00:30:49.640 I've been accused of working for Stephen Harper.
00:30:52.540 I've been accused of being a member of all the political parties, some kind of infiltrator from all the political parties, even NDP.
00:31:02.120 And then I've had people accuse me of being like a secret liberal.
00:31:05.400 Like, you know, uh-huh.
00:31:07.280 um i have conservative values i have uh liberal values i have libertarian values i even have some
00:31:14.520 well i wouldn't say socialist but i mean i do believe in trying to help other people if you can
00:31:18.600 and taking care of each other i just don't have the radical end of those kind of ideas so i mean
00:31:24.020 my politics is sort of like a mix of all of these things you know what i'm saying um but no and and
00:31:30.640 even at the time of obviously i was working with a conservative uh a western independence party so
00:31:36.640 but you know even then i they were both separate and when i got involved with you in the convoy
00:31:41.760 i they knew exactly what was going on but we kept it totally separate and i had i had a lot of
00:31:47.020 support from from maverick honestly until we got there and then they told me they wanted me to go
00:31:51.560 home because we made our point and i'm like no we haven't talked to anybody yet you know it was
00:31:56.700 tuesday morning and i got that email and they're like yeah you made your point maybe it's time to
00:32:00.580 go home i'm like no we haven't even spoken to anyone no one's even come to like we're literally
00:32:05.360 just you know we just got here um so no the answer to that is absolutely not although i believe you
00:32:15.520 you have supposedly have had the same problems because i know that people have accused you of
00:32:19.960 being very close with brad wall and and yeah a conspiracy theory on how my association with
00:32:27.320 brad wall is and it's been funny to watch these people grasp at this sort of thing over the last
00:32:31.460 four years you know brad wall is obviously a fixture in the in the city of swift current he
00:32:36.580 was the premier of saskatchewan for many years and obviously a supporter of somebody actually
00:32:41.060 taking his stand against the government mandates brad wall now fully retired from politics doesn't
00:32:45.940 want to have anything to do with politics anymore will still give his opinion on politics
00:32:50.260 and i was fortunate enough that you know mutual friend dave is uh related to somebody that i
00:32:56.660 used to be married to back in the day so obviously phone numbers exchanged and brad wall reached out
00:33:01.780 to me and and just was it cordial conversations trying to give me some advice he warned me about
00:33:06.420 certain people in the movement that we should be concerned about and of course i did actually see
00:33:11.700 that a couple days into convoy and then started to distance myself from people um yeah right he uh
00:33:20.020 he took his kicking in the public eye because those text messages were released and i wished
00:33:25.300 i was a guy that deleted text messages like i probably should have but i didn't
00:33:29.620 and uh you know it wasn't bad there was nothing for you to delete i mean it was nothing either
00:33:34.020 one of you did that was wrong there was the fact that yeah and i just want to say something a bit
00:33:40.580 off topic here um i know that his son coulter is going through a very difficult time right now
00:33:46.580 he's um taken a hiatus from his tour and his band he did actually just lose a band mate
00:33:52.180 and i did see a post that they put up that he's um he's got some mental health problems and he's
00:33:56.900 going to take a rest and so if you would please uh say a prayer for coulter he's an amazing
00:34:03.620 talented artist and especially homegrown saskatchewan boy man if you ever go to a
00:34:08.500 cultural wall concert he puts a hell of a show on i give him credit for um for making a statement
00:34:14.580 like that though and and uh and making sure he takes time off i mean so many of us don't we
00:34:20.180 We start to feel, you know, upset or depressed or we're dealing with something and we just force ourselves to push through and push through.
00:34:27.640 And, you know, sometimes that just ends up a mess, whether, you know, you just you just end up worse off than you were than if you just given yourself a little bit of a break.
00:34:38.280 And it's not always easy to do that for sure.
00:34:41.200 You will commonly see me take breaks from social media where I won't post on a platform for a little while.
00:34:46.200 I will walk away from it or I'll do drafts up and leave it.
00:34:48.640 that's my way of getting away from it. There's some days that I'll, you know, I'll wake up on
00:34:52.860 a Sunday morning and I'll go to church or I might not even go to church. I might just sit on the
00:34:56.480 couch and watch TV all day long. I find that at my age now, you know, I don't think I'm that old
00:35:01.560 by any means, but there's times that you just need to do nothing. And today would have been the day
00:35:05.560 that I just sat in my office and wanted to go outside and do something. But it's important
00:35:10.280 because, you know, like being thrown into the public spotlight, like we have the last number
00:35:14.200 of years where I can't tell you the amount of times I've got two computer screens in front of
00:35:18.020 my desk here and i've turned you know it just goes to msn all the time every time i turn a
00:35:22.260 web page on and i can't tell you how many times i've sat here and and my mug has been on msn's
00:35:26.300 front page and i know yeah you kind of get a little chill because like what are they saying
00:35:31.940 about me now but at that sense too i don't know if we did you realize any of the implications
00:35:38.820 going into this that you would be thrust into this spotlight and criticized by so many and
00:35:44.180 scrutinized by others and you know there's people out there that us and wish us harm did you ever
00:35:50.920 think it would it would come to that well i mean to a small not to the extent that it did but
00:35:57.520 obviously i mean i know i've followed the news and pull up politics long enough to know what
00:36:02.880 happens you know how people will just call you a racist to try and dismiss you or call you names
00:36:08.460 or accuse you of things literally just trying to dismiss you um and i never like in a million years
00:36:14.580 could we have seen this coming never in a million years could we assume but you know the thing that
00:36:18.500 i look back on now chris is still how completely naive i was and maybe you too like you know after
00:36:25.440 watching the protests that happen um with the first nations and this and the rail lines the
00:36:30.780 black lives matter like i honestly still believed in my heart even though all these rallies and
00:36:36.540 protests about the pandemic had gone on for the last two years I really believed that they would
00:36:41.240 listen to us I honestly still believed in the system that somebody was going to come out and
00:36:47.080 and the longer that it went on and nobody was coming and like Glenn Motts was trying to
00:36:51.560 facilitate something we know Michelle Ferrari now was out there trying or inside trying to
00:36:56.260 facilitate you know telling people to come talk to us those are your citizens out there
00:37:00.680 um so i was absolutely still shocked and you know i guess the thing that that i realized
00:37:06.320 when i was there is like when did every canadian become a suspect in a crime that hasn't even been
00:37:11.940 committed because that's how we were all treated yeah we were suspects you and i have been profiled
00:37:18.440 six ways from sunday i mean that's what i mean i'm gonna leave a note you go ahead and leave a
00:37:23.120 freaking note man like go ahead and leave your note i've been profiled i am on the imve list
00:37:29.000 Like, the RCMP has got stuff on me.
00:37:32.080 CSIS has stuff on me.
00:37:33.500 Every agency that has letters for a name, you know, has notes on you and me.
00:37:39.620 And I just thought, you know, like, and none of these people ever called us.
00:37:43.860 Like, you know, why wouldn't they just, any of us?
00:37:46.880 I don't mean you and me particularly.
00:37:48.800 I just mean any of us that were in the core group.
00:37:52.060 I mean, all you ever had to do.
00:37:53.880 And, you know, I watched Peter slowly on the stand at the POEC,
00:37:56.900 and my heart broke for that man.
00:37:58.500 it really did um even after all the stuff that i've learned about him since about the you know
00:38:02.980 not an inch and some of the stuff that he was doing too um but i felt like he was totally
00:38:08.260 scapegoated and and and i and i felt really really bad for him and i forget they wanted
00:38:15.380 that bald bastard to come in there and break some kneecaps which they did you know and i remember
00:38:21.780 sitting in the conference room and one of the people the one of the lawyers do you remember
00:38:25.540 that it was like oh solely just was uh resigned and the room kind of like cheered and it was like
00:38:32.500 who's gonna replace him that's what we need to worry about and it was exactly what we should
00:38:36.420 have worried about because steve bell was a complete imbecile wasn't funny and i think i
00:38:41.300 said that um this is not fun this is not good i mean uh this happened for a reason and what's
00:38:47.540 coming next is not going to be it's going to be worse and but you know what struck me when i was
00:38:52.740 listening to peter slowly's testimony and he was really upset like he genuinely cared about his
00:38:56.740 his men i believe that and he was crying and as he's crying i'm just sitting there like this could
00:39:01.220 have all been prevented with a phone call even the even our profiles like we were profiled before we
00:39:06.420 even got to ottawa there was reports and lists and agencies that we were already registered with but
00:39:12.500 you know nobody called us from those agencies to find out if we were good human beings or if we
00:39:17.300 were psychopaths they just assume that because you you know you've had enough um you're tired of
00:39:24.420 you know people committing suicide and living the way that we were living with no end in sight um
00:39:31.780 just called it he just could have called us and peter slowly actually was fighting for you know
00:39:37.140 his unvaccinated employees and that was something you found out afterwards that he was standing up
00:39:41.220 for his guys behind the scenes so there would have been a portion of him that would have probably kind
00:39:46.100 of halfway supported what we were trying to accomplish i guess right yeah well i mean we
00:39:51.860 found out obviously after through our trial and and through the poec that the ottawa police
00:39:56.740 services at that time was just like a complete gong show complete gong show right yeah there was
00:40:03.780 there was a lot of problems there before we got there um and a lot of problems when we got there
00:40:10.180 i mean the upper the upper bureaucracy were not communicating with the rank and file and the
00:40:16.800 people that we were dealing with i mean you know they were telling them one thing um but you know
00:40:21.780 no i don't i don't believe that i ever heard any of the evidence come out to say that the public
00:40:25.240 liaison team the officers were told not one inch they were told to come out and talk to us and then
00:40:31.800 above them it was like we ain't negotiating with these guys don't give them an inch you know but
00:40:37.480 the difference between them and us i guess it was to wrap this up my point is is that we went there
00:40:43.240 in good faith we went there um with the beliefs that we were raised with as canadian kids and
00:40:50.040 canadian citizens and since then not to sound like i'm black billed but since then all of those
00:40:55.340 institutions that i believed in i was told to trust i was told was going to protect me i was
00:41:01.700 going to told was going to give me a voice i was going to told it's going to protect my family
00:41:05.620 they don't no they're not there to protect me and my family or you they're there to protect
00:41:12.840 themselves and each other and that's exactly what they're doing and i think every day that
00:41:17.400 goes by in this country now it becomes more and more apparent michael ma is sitting in committee
00:41:22.820 today saying that china doesn't commit any human rights offenses what are you talking about
00:41:27.540 are you kidding me remember what kena said in that bar drunk a few years ago you know if you
00:41:34.180 repeat the same lie long enough they will eventually believe it and that's exactly how
00:41:38.240 politics works in this country right now it's about repeating the lie that they want you to
00:41:41.700 believe they did that through covid they divided people in their own households we've seen that
00:41:46.620 result of that to this day there's a lot of trauma in society right now for the way people
00:41:51.540 were treated during covid okay so let me ask you a question maybe it's a little bit personal so
00:41:58.240 unanswered if you want to um but i mean do you think like what are the psychological and emotional
00:42:05.080 repercussions you know like we were when michelle was on last week i made the comment you know like
00:42:08.980 i just haven't even had that holy crap moment where i've just let myself actually sit down
00:42:14.300 in a heap an ugly cry about all the things that i've been through and and i just i just i can't
00:42:20.340 do that i don't until this is over um at least that's how i feel i just i need to get all of
00:42:27.020 behind me before i could just finally just wow um but i'm starting to recognize some but i i just
00:42:33.900 want to hear from you like you know looking back over the last four years um since our arrest even
00:42:40.300 like how different how different things have affected you like the public order emergency
00:42:44.540 commission being in trial you know stuff like that i think i have my moments i guess yeah and
00:42:52.460 And like you said, you just kind of, I still haven't had that day.
00:42:54.860 I remember it was, we got home from Ottawa.
00:42:58.280 We met about 350 people in the parking lot in Swift Current, you know,
00:43:02.000 to kind of welcome us home.
00:43:03.660 And we came back out to the farm here and then everybody left.
00:43:07.500 And it was just my wife and I,
00:43:09.320 I don't even know if my kids were out here at that time.
00:43:13.000 I remember getting out of bed at like 3, 34 o'clock in the morning.
00:43:16.140 And I literally sat in the living room and watched a TV that wasn't even
00:43:19.580 turned on, you know, for three weeks.
00:43:22.460 four weeks your life was 600 miles an hour and then all of a sudden you went to complete silence
00:43:27.720 you know there was I just had to try and collect it I guess and I and I uh I did but then you kind
00:43:35.020 of like it's just that farm boy mentality you just kind of push it down and keep moving forward
00:43:39.280 um and then to feel like the emotions of you know I was crossing the border into Washington from
00:43:45.260 Vancouver uh that spring I think it was when my lawyer called me from Ottawa and saying that they
00:43:50.420 just nailed me with you know what was it five or six more indictable offenses and so you know
00:43:56.980 that hit you heavy and then the anticipation of like like going out to trial never being in a
00:44:04.000 courtroom never being in front of a judge never being charged with anything never being involved
00:44:07.620 in the system at all you know you slept on a bed of nails i think the night before because you were
00:44:14.120 like anxiety ridden and then you go through the emotions of that and then you realize that oh no
00:44:18.840 there's two more days in two weeks and then you can go home for a week and then you got to be back
00:44:23.180 out in two weeks and your life was literally thrown into a cesspool of travel and you know
00:44:29.780 you eventually you became numb to it i did notice that after initial anxiety and then you just
00:44:35.800 realize that there's a really good group of people that were going to be walking you know standing
00:44:39.400 outside the courtroom ushering you in you had a community around and that security of having like
00:44:45.220 the ottawa the bikers church and i'll always say that too they were there for us i would go to
00:44:50.140 church on thursday nights and sometimes sundays too they do the same service thursday night and
00:44:54.000 sunday and i would go both days just because i like the atmosphere so much there and it's just
00:44:59.920 a community away from home and we had a family there and that support group i think out there
00:45:04.400 throughout the course of our trial was was huge for emotional but i mean there's times jump in
00:45:10.520 the truck and you turn the stereo off and you just spend a little time thinking about your
00:45:14.660 experience over the last few years and yeah will we eventually have that ugly cry moment maybe i
00:45:20.200 know it's hard to say that you it's hard i'm not going to say that my head will never be over
00:45:25.500 like that's the thing right you know it wasn't even a surprise i was working in the shop when
00:45:30.620 diane called again and said you know the crown's appealing your sentence they're appealing your
00:45:34.600 acquittals they're appealing everything and it's like a water off a duck's back you become numb to
00:45:39.820 it i think that's basically the word that i i'd like to use in that thing you just become numb
00:45:43.860 to what they're trying to do to you and you realize that these people won't stop until you're
00:45:47.740 nothing left but a great spot but you've got a lot of people standing behind you and the more you
00:45:52.500 remain calm and patient and the more they keep pushing and showing just how vindictive and
00:45:57.080 horrible they are as human beings and government agencies that they're exposing themselves more and
00:46:01.660 more to how you know just how vile they are and uh that's what keeps me going we're just uh just
00:46:08.400 keep being yourself and i have said that many times before i think i probably improved myself
00:46:13.060 the most from the conway experience i uh started looking at my actions and realizing that
00:46:18.820 i could be a better person and i'm proud of that for that fact and i think you know
00:46:23.460 and you should be well i mean we but we all i mean that was that was a crash course and
00:46:31.180 chaos it was a crash course at managing chaos or trying to manage chaos well then of course i'm
00:46:38.020 thankful that i got to come home after that because your experience was quite different than that you
00:46:42.360 know we traveled to ottawa it was you myself my son jonathan and zippy in the cab of that truck
00:46:47.900 all the way out to ottawa and uh you know we got hotel rooms on the travel on the way out there
00:46:53.000 you got hotel rooms your parents were there in the convoy jonathan i slept in the truck all the time
00:46:58.240 zippy too and uh but at the end of it i had to come home i came home you know with a group of
00:47:05.360 people and a bunch of trucks and i got to come home you remained in remand center for how long
00:47:09.920 18 days yeah 18 days which wasn't terrible i mean i survived i mean i guess like so
00:47:17.680 so many things were so new like all of a sudden you know like i'm getting arrested thinking who
00:47:23.580 are you guys like look at me you know like how many videos did we put out saying respect the law
00:47:30.480 like um i mean we should be given an award not the order of canada thank you very much but you
00:47:36.220 know just for just for you know keeping a thread on that thing because not only were we dealing
00:47:42.660 with the police and not only were we trying to get you know a meeting or an audience with somebody
00:47:48.980 in the government who had listened to us we were trying to you know work with personalities there
00:47:55.140 was a lot of different personalities there and some of them were challenging but but it was also
00:48:00.900 you know people were constantly coming to help so they're trying to find you know help people find
00:48:05.360 spots what do we need like it was just constant um constant constant chaos um but some of it was
00:48:12.620 good chaos great chaos and you know like keith wilson said it best it's like some days like one
00:48:17.440 hour felt like a week like we'd be going getting ready for bed at the end of the night think like
00:48:21.900 thinking what happened that morning happened last week you know they were very long days they were
00:48:26.960 very full days um and a lot of that was just like i was just so bewildered and
00:48:34.400 that was just nothing that i expected it was nothing um it was just shocking like i said
00:48:43.200 when did we all become suspects canadian citizens are suspects in crimes that they haven't even
00:48:48.480 committed we're all treated as if we're guilty before proven innocent and and you know one of
00:48:53.760 of the things that I brought this up Chris is because you know that first year and I didn't
00:48:58.920 realize how I didn't realize at the time you know when you're going through it you know like you
00:49:02.880 coming home and getting back home you just get up and you put one foot in front of the other and you
00:49:06.580 just keep going and you don't realize it you have to live your life but looking back now and I've
00:49:14.020 got a couple projects on the go where I have to tell these stories again you know but looking
00:49:19.040 back now that first year moise karimji tried to throw me in jail six ways from sunday every time
00:49:25.360 i turned around he wanted me in jail he wanted me in jail just for agreeing to accept an award
00:49:32.560 right like um he wanted me in jail for this pendant he wanted me in jail for
00:49:39.280 so many things every time i turned around and i and now looking back
00:49:43.360 you know i realized that that whole year i was cut off from social media i wasn't allowed to
00:49:47.760 to talk to you i wasn't allowed to talk to tom or danny like basically any of the core people
00:49:53.080 or not any of them i mean i still had ryan and some of the road captains and stuff but
00:49:57.380 you know but it was just constant looking over your shoulder you know if we went as a group
00:50:01.820 to calgary to some of the canadians for truth events remember how scary that was hats off to
00:50:08.120 keith and eva you know keith would be my watcher and eva would be yours and they would just
00:50:12.920 constantly spend the whole night making sure we didn't cross paths in the crowd somewhere it was
00:50:16.940 hilarious thinking they had to be in every single photo yep and that didn't even stop them from
00:50:23.500 arresting you you were in a room full of lawyers and you were arrested yeah come on you know i i
00:50:29.640 just want to tell this story really quickly and it's about my dogs and this is why i'm going to
00:50:33.140 tell you this because this is when it really hit me um i got my dogs from an old neighbor of mine
00:50:38.360 who passed away and she lived beside me we were neighbors in the flats for a long time and we
00:50:43.800 became great friends. And I was a single mom. She was an old lady, basically estranged from most of
00:50:49.460 her children. And that relationship continued after I moved. I would bring her over to our
00:50:53.820 house for Thanksgiving. I'd pick her up and take her down to the bar when we were playing because
00:50:57.580 she loved music. So she'd come down and catch a set, but she didn't drive. So I'd grab her.
00:51:02.620 We had a really, really close relationship. And January 2nd of 2023, so almost a year after the
00:51:10.320 convoy in a year after all this stuff. And I've done another month in jail because I was arrested
00:51:14.300 on that breach. I was coming home from coffee one morning and I just had this strong feeling that I
00:51:20.820 needed to call her. And I did because I had a strong feeling about my grandma two days before
00:51:25.080 and I didn't. And she broke her ribs the next day. So I stopped home. I said, Duane, I'm just
00:51:32.360 going to run down and see Lynn real quick. I just feel like I got to go check in and see her and give
00:51:36.420 her hug and say hi so I did and she opened the door and I knew immediately something was wrong
00:51:41.260 like her collar was off um her house was unkempt and dirty which is not like her
00:51:47.720 um she had two dogs three cats and four birds so anyways we sat down we're hugging and we're
00:51:53.520 crying like she's just got to the hospital after having a massive heart attack I found out I've
00:51:59.080 just been through like all of our stuff you know what I mean um and so we're talking and
00:52:05.940 after after a while i looked around her house and i said lynn do you have anybody helping you
00:52:10.180 she said no and i said well you do now he said i'll be back tomorrow i'm gonna bring some
00:52:18.120 cleaning stuff we're gonna get this place you know whatever you need trips to the doctor any
00:52:22.760 appointments anything i i i had a purpose again chris and so i went to her house the next day
00:52:30.320 cleaned her house all up did all her bedding made her a fresh bed and you know finally she sits me
00:52:36.620 down and she's like well let's just visit and we literally sat there and just held hands and you
00:52:41.940 know told each other how much we loved each other i was like she's like a mom to me almost like a
00:52:46.160 grandma and you know and just so happy that we found each other again and and uh i said well
00:52:53.080 she asked if i could pick her up the next day to take her to a doctor's appointment and i said sure
00:52:56.820 I said I'll take your laundry home tonight I'll get all your laundry done I'll be down here an
00:53:01.540 hour early tomorrow to pick you up and we'll go and so I went down at two o'clock the next day and
00:53:07.200 I knocked on the door and there's no answer I said well that's weird she's expecting me for
00:53:11.960 this doctor's appointment so I knocked on the door again no answer you know I went around the house
00:53:16.760 knocked on all the windows and finally I phoned the police and I found out she passed away that
00:53:21.480 morning and i was devastated like absolutely i cried i was distraught for four three or four
00:53:30.760 days like just crying uncontrollably uh partly because number one obviously i was sad that
00:53:38.120 she passed away because she meant a lot to me second out of gratitude to god because who gets
00:53:44.480 that chance who gets that time to go and say goodbye and just you know what i mean and and
00:53:50.440 And thirdly, because for the first time in a year, I felt like I had a purpose again.
00:53:56.880 And I just, in telling this story the other day, I realized, you know, here the rest of the world is calling me a hero.
00:54:03.980 And not the rest because some people hate me.
00:54:05.760 But, you know, we get called all these names.
00:54:08.100 And I'm just thinking, like, all I wanted to do was look after this old lady.
00:54:12.680 Just, you know, because I had to feel like I had a purpose again.
00:54:16.360 And so, sorry to be emotional.
00:54:18.540 but anyways i just i bring it up because i think that so much stuff happened and at the time you
00:54:22.780 don't realize it but looking back now it's just like wow how did we get through all this to this
00:54:29.500 day with our sanity intact you know what i mean it takes away from it i know i've i've lost you
00:54:38.140 know two trucking buddies in the last four years i guess you know when i look at my cell phone on my
00:54:43.260 snapchat notifications and i don't answer everybody i i can't physically answer everybody
00:54:48.460 but you know i know both of these friends that took their lives in the last bunch of years if
00:54:53.660 i think to myself i mean did i open their snapchat or their message and didn't reply to it or respond
00:54:59.740 to it anyway and you know not that that would have had any bearing on the decision they took
00:55:04.940 at the end of the day probably not and i know that but you know
00:55:07.820 you know it wouldn't have mattered and uh yeah i just think these things eventually will take
00:55:17.340 you know they have to take an emotional toll and you know i'm really proud chris of both you and me
00:55:22.300 you know how we have had this has been an enormous amount of pressure i mean people don't realize
00:55:28.300 the stuff that we have my first phone call today was uh with a lawyer you know your lawyer is
00:55:33.180 calling you we've got civil suits we've got criminal cases we've got appeals like how like
00:55:38.220 i i never thought i would have this many lawyers in my life like and i i'm totally i feel like
00:55:44.620 we're totally blessed to have the ones that we do in our life but you know it's a lot and then you
00:55:48.780 got to remember on top of that there's always family things that come up or family problems
00:55:53.500 that happen um work problems that happen like there's all the other things that come on top of
00:55:59.260 that um and and that come with it and i just think for the most part you know i think both of us have
00:56:05.740 will try to handle this as well as we can and uh i'm certainly not as naive as i used to be i can
00:56:12.140 tell you that yeah tamara and i've had many conversations about that i know the tamara that
00:56:17.340 i met in ottawa you know i make this joke every now and then privately i'll say like
00:56:22.460 tamara is such a trusting person if you walked up to her and said hey you know can i just have your
00:56:26.940 your bank number i'm just managed you would honestly you would think the best of that person
00:56:31.420 and trust them solely and and we've made a kind of agreement a pact now where if we see somebody
00:56:37.060 enter the circle and i get a bad feeling off of it i will say no like we need to watch this person
00:56:42.180 and this happened many times in the past and yeah it has trust the wrong person and you wind up you
00:56:47.520 know then you're how many people have you known in the last four years that have used your name
00:56:54.120 to try and i guess clout chase and then when you don't give them enough attention they go they turn
00:56:59.880 divisive and then they attack you and they go to the ends of the earth to show how vile they are
00:57:04.920 it happens and it's really too bad like don't go mad go away mad just go away
00:57:11.320 i mean that's just i want to get to you know i don't dwell on that stuff anymore i have just
00:57:16.160 got to the point um especially since the convoy because i really used to be before there's such
00:57:21.360 a people pleaser i didn't like it if people didn't like me um i mean i you know i i used
00:57:27.460 to be very codependent i've had to do a lot of work on myself to get past a lot of this is why
00:57:33.120 i can recognize so much of so many of these characteristics and behaviors and other people
00:57:37.720 is because been there done that played the game you know i've been through therapy i've been
00:57:42.320 through marriage counseling i've been through all that stuff um but what was my point chris where
00:57:49.080 was i going with this where we've been and the stuff that we've went through in the last four
00:57:53.300 years oh yeah but i so yeah that was my point so i've so i've just gotten to the point now or is
00:57:58.120 i mean the second you stick a knife in my back i just cut you out of my life and move on i'm not
00:58:02.440 gonna i'm not gonna come online and say mean things about you um i do not wish anyone any
00:58:09.340 ill will ever you know go on be successful and have a great life that's okay like people don't
00:58:16.140 have to have to be friends yeah we don't have to be friends we don't have to get along i am not
00:58:20.540 interested in slinging mud at people i mean and like there's times that i want to and if that
00:58:26.420 happens chris i will call you and you will get a litany of f-bombs in your ear right a litany of
00:58:34.120 f-bombs in your ear but you know yeah there's just different ways to handle things and i know
00:58:39.500 i just try to move on and i focus on the good people that are in my life i focus on the good
00:58:44.640 things that are coming you know there lots of projects that we're doing honestly you know I
00:58:51.500 feel extremely lucky I have that red line in the sand now and I know that too as soon as I feel
00:58:58.220 you know I can usually see the divisive ones coming and I know you know be careful what you
00:59:02.320 say around this or what you write because it's going to wind up on a screen recording or whatever
00:59:06.500 it is and that's happened in the past where you kind of go a little you know you don't necessarily
00:59:11.660 you trust people and but i do i beat people too and i know that somebody's trying to gather
00:59:15.820 information for the other side i will potentially or purposely bait that person to make them think
00:59:21.420 a certain way like that's my inner workings but once you go too far down the road with me and i
00:59:26.940 and that line is crossed i can forgive i'm not going to forget and that's exactly where i've been
00:59:33.020 in the last while my line is a lot harder harsher and i i don't like i said i won't forget i'll
00:59:40.620 forgive but i just never have anything to do with those people again so yeah well that's all we can
00:59:45.820 do uh you know if you're gonna try and make changes for the good you just you can't hey just
00:59:51.420 gotta move on yeah like we got we got to put our energy in into other things that's what i think
00:59:56.220 and at 53 years old i'm getting old enough that i'm very selective of where i put my energy now
01:00:01.420 you know that's like yeah nine o'clock i think i was in bed at 9 30 last night
01:00:05.340 watched an episode of dexter and i fell asleep i was done but that's my own nights now i you know
01:00:12.300 body hurts at the end of the day from what you were doing and uh i yeah like i said i don't
01:00:16.620 have to worry about breaching a court order with was sneaking out of the house in the middle of
01:00:19.580 the night and going across the ground road there's nowhere for me to go anyway but my parents need
01:00:23.980 help every now and then up at their farm and i'm able to go give them a hand if that you know if
01:00:28.060 it needs to happen which i'm thankful for i was given that uh that authority through my probation
01:00:34.780 there through the judge so did you ever talk to your dad about letting me put on a put up a fund
01:00:41.500 or a crowd fund for him to cover his court costs for your guys's forfeiture hearing i haven't yet
01:00:47.180 no um that bill was pretty significant but uh most people for the i don't know you let's ask
01:00:55.100 the audience you guys if i put a give send go together for chris's parents um they ended up
01:01:01.260 up having to pay substantial costs to them for the forfeiture application put forth by the crown
01:01:06.920 when they tried to steal chris barber's truck and i know i had mentioned this to chris a while ago
01:01:12.060 that i would gladly start um a give son go to have to if it would help them um so i would ask
01:01:20.060 him i don't want to do it unless i have your parents blessing of course yeah i uh they don't
01:01:25.160 seem to say too much about it right now they're just kind of keeping a tab on everything until
01:01:28.800 this is all settled but most people know after the crown came after big red uh last year in what
01:01:35.920 was it april i believe they announced the forfeiture they wanted to seek and destroy
01:01:39.440 you know forfeits and uh but after convoy we had the lawsuits against us the criminal charges
01:01:45.680 everything like that my son jonathan was in the you know we were in the market to buy him a truck
01:01:50.480 so he joined joined the the fleet and i couldn't get any financing for a loan for jonathan's truck
01:01:57.920 to secure loans so what i did was i sold big red to my parents and that then gave me the funds to
01:02:04.420 put into jonathan's truck to get jonathan's truck up and going which in the long run served to be
01:02:08.720 an amazing purpose because now when the forfeiture came forward you had not my title owning it you
01:02:15.280 had my parents owning it so cb trucking has a portion in that truck and my parents do um and
01:02:21.400 eventually i'll pay that money back to them for the truck when all the lawsuits and hopefully
01:02:25.500 some year when i can do it and i'll take possession of it again but for right now it's safe it's not
01:02:30.680 in my name and it doesn't need to be in my name right now and it worked out you know perfectly
01:02:34.400 for securing jonathan's loan and jonathan's out working that truck all the time and i still get
01:02:38.780 to run big red it's sitting in my shop i maintenance it i service it but mom and dad had to get a
01:02:43.640 lawyer involved to fight their side of the case i had obviously diane magus working for me in the
01:02:48.340 justice center for constitutional freedoms covers diane's costs all the time i want to give a huge
01:02:52.040 show to john carpe and his team at the justice center with us right from the start but mom and
01:02:56.960 dad had to hire a side lawyer and that lawyer cost them a significant amount of money for defense
01:03:01.720 and um i think you know i do it so terribly by the crown like he accused them of like basically
01:03:08.620 trying to orchestrate some kind of fraud um to get your truck out of your possession they were
01:03:14.720 like accusing them of like because they lent you money because you're their son yeah right so then
01:03:20.420 they were almost trying to make it sound like as parents lending you money they had some sort of
01:03:24.280 nefarious intentions behind that because you hadn't paid it all back yet it was ridiculous
01:03:30.580 watching the crown you know to say one word i guess douche he was absolutely horrible he was
01:03:39.200 he cross-examined my parents he cross-examined jonathan jonathan laughed at him a couple times
01:03:44.740 under cross-examination jonathan like literally like laughed at him and his question is mock-worthy
01:03:49.480 yeah mocked him my father kind of what was the comment that my father made the crown
01:03:54.980 um i don't know where you know he was trying to get dad in a lie or something which there was no
01:04:01.280 lie there my father just said i don't know how you were raised but where i'm raised and where i
01:04:06.580 live now we help our family and the crown kind of did a next question or no we're done done
01:04:12.780 questioning your honor it was i wish i would get that on video that was hilarious well and also
01:04:17.600 he was trying to insinuate that because your parents loved and supported what you were doing
01:04:21.980 in Ottawa that they were somehow almost like aiding and abetting you or you know or supporting
01:04:28.100 they were bad people because they were supporting a crime or something so I mean it was absolutely
01:04:34.240 disgusting how they treated your parents yeah and of course that day I had Jonathan on a laptop
01:04:41.600 upstairs i had to be downstairs my parents were at a neighbor's place in our little village of
01:04:48.700 tier valley because they didn't have the you know they don't have the capability to run a laptop and
01:04:52.880 or a mic and a camera right arm like they've never been part of that sort of stuff they're
01:04:57.660 in their 70s they don't and they'll be watching this tomorrow morning when they're having their
01:05:00.580 coffee so everybody give a big show to my parents and a duty in the house they sit in their sun
01:05:07.500 room every morning have the coffee and they watch the sun come up from the east and every morning
01:05:11.720 when i drive by with big red i would uh you know zippy gets scared every time i honk the big horn
01:05:16.300 and big red and so i'd just give them a little toot toot on the little steering wheel horn because
01:05:20.160 i know mom and dad are sitting in the sunroom watching having their coffee but dad told me one
01:05:24.060 morning he said i quit with the little horn we want to hear red's big horn when you go by so
01:05:29.460 nice oh that's good yeah i mean they're such great people and you know
01:05:37.440 there's lots of people in the comments here that said just do it so maybe it will was it fifty
01:05:42.640 thousand dollars sixty thousand dollars closer to sixty yeah yeah yeah okay well let's see look
01:05:50.400 they're getting lots of love hi dad and judy absolutely my parents are two of my of our you
01:05:57.440 know biggest supporters you know i mom and dad are there they proudly wear their big red hoodies
01:06:03.200 when they go out in public and dad uses it as a conversation piece he goes he takes part in a lot
01:06:08.160 of rm council uh like the sarm convention for for regina uh he's at he was at an apas meeting this
01:06:15.600 week in saskatoon for the agriculture community in the rm he's very active within local government
01:06:21.920 and so he wears his big red hoodie and a lot of people know who he is and it starts a conversation
01:06:25.920 when they see the big red on his jacket and uh he he's yeah i couldn't be i'm the luckiest kid
01:06:32.800 in the world to have those two as parents they've they've showed me how to raise children properly
01:06:38.000 and i think i've done a you know half-assed acceptable job on that side but more than that
01:06:43.220 they've been you know raised on the farm and learning on the farm and working with you know
01:06:47.920 animals that who hasn't been in the shop you know when dad's been doing a set of brakes on the on
01:06:52.980 the family car and you have to you know pump the brake pedal inside the cab with him you know trying
01:06:57.580 to bleed the screws underneath on each wheel like that that is a it can be an emotional traumatizing
01:07:02.940 job for a child that's right emotional yeah but no flashlight exactly yes i hated flashlight duty
01:07:17.040 i don't want to do it just kidding no i agree i i've i have great parents too i mean i always
01:07:24.260 laugh that my family put the fun in dysfunction but honestly you know we loved each other
01:07:28.420 we were very close you know i learned a lot of valuable lessons from my parents we always had
01:07:33.600 foster kids um people you know they were always helping people and and uh yeah so i think we're
01:07:41.380 saskatchewan they are i love that i'll be driving on the highway and i'll get a phone call from
01:07:47.380 bonnie or stan just to you know shoot the shit just driving on the highway you know they just
01:07:52.500 pick the phone up and call and i always answer it and i'm always you know the relationships that
01:07:57.540 we've made over the last four years you know some of them have been the most memorable relationships
01:08:02.020 and you can never take it back you know there's been some relationships where you wanted to take
01:08:05.860 them back but like the corner you know the true people that i wanted to stand with in ottawa are
01:08:11.640 still very tight and close to this day and i'm thankful you know at any time you can pick up
01:08:16.120 the phone you talk to danny bulford you know he's a reputable man that stood for the right reasons
01:08:20.360 and, you know, Tom Marazzo, of course.
01:08:23.820 There's been so many.
01:08:24.860 Thomas O'Connor, Melissa McKee.
01:08:27.800 I mean, there's so many.
01:08:28.880 I know we've made some really good friends.
01:08:31.340 Absolutely.
01:08:32.540 I was rooting through the toolbox in the shop,
01:08:34.520 and I found one of the original license plates from the front bumper of Big Red,
01:08:37.800 and I thought, you know, like there's one person that deserves it,
01:08:41.140 and she wants that because she collects these license plates.
01:08:43.900 And so I stuck in the mail, and I mailed off Melissa McKee,
01:08:47.760 um big red's license plate and she got it today i believe it was this morning i got a message
01:08:53.080 yeah i saw that that's awesome yeah no and she's an amazing person and i'll say that again about
01:08:59.700 melissa mckeed she stewards us you know the way a pastor's wife and she is a pastor
01:09:06.360 you know when you when especially me in my trolling capability online and when i seem to
01:09:11.680 be going down a dark path or i need to kind of correct myself you'll always get a phone call
01:09:15.860 or a text message from melissa saying hey you know just take a step and and think about what
01:09:21.060 you're doing there is it proper what would jesus do what would jesus do you know when we went out
01:09:26.180 to new brunswick for nova scotia for a guy a meister's thunder yeah with us in the truck the
01:09:32.140 entire time and i'd be working on a mean tweet or something like that melissa would be in the
01:09:36.300 backseat she'd say chris what would jesus do i'll delete that one then i'd say yeah you have a
01:09:43.640 prickly upper lip yes very prickly upper lip she would say a deserving person for a license plate
01:09:52.280 a haggard old piece of tin that's seen so many bug guts and rocks and um but she it made her day so
01:09:58.380 i'm glad i was able to do that for her good yeah i know she loved it um have you heard anything
01:10:04.900 about when our appeal is going to be heard actually you know i just talked to lawrence a
01:10:08.120 couple days ago but i didn't even ask him about i was talking to him about a completely different
01:10:11.420 matter so um i would say i thought the appeal would it would be at the court of appeals um
01:10:17.900 six to eight months following our sentence so i'm so we're you know we're at the six month mark i
01:10:23.740 thought we'd be hearing something soon i would imagine this call i actually i haven't talked to
01:10:28.860 my lawyers in ottawa for quite some time and one just called there now so i'll call her back later
01:10:32.780 after the show and hopefully everything's good um i don't know what are your thoughts on the
01:10:38.860 the thing hitting the appeals court like when they hear it are they going to look at the case
01:10:43.120 in its entirety and say these guys spent 60 days in trial two years over the course of thing like
01:10:49.340 are we wanting to waste any more court time on a mischief charge is that what the appeals court's
01:10:53.160 going to say or are they going to say no we want these bastards in jail well look what just happened
01:10:59.620 to randy hillier and i think that will answer your question yeah i think they are in this um i think
01:11:05.780 they're out for blood i think they have dug their heels in so far that i mean all the evidence in
01:11:12.100 the world can and could hit them literally in the face and um i mean i i sat through that whole
01:11:20.520 trial there is not one stitch of evidence of me ever committing the crime of mischief
01:11:23.800 no you know not i didn't see you commit any crimes of mischief i saw you be sarcastic and
01:11:29.880 make jokes that maybe not everybody liked or appreciated um but i didn't see you commit any
01:11:34.440 crimes you know even your video that they said that you commit crimes what is a horn for it's
01:11:40.360 in the traffic safety act you it's a horn when you're in an emergency what were you advising
01:11:44.120 people to do if people are going to come start breaking down your windows lay on those horns
01:11:51.480 watching the crown trying to distort every single thing you said during the course of that time you
01:11:56.040 know uh yeah i don't i how do you go home and look at your family in the eyes and say hey kids you
01:12:03.800 know and that was the other thing he brought his the crown prosecutor brought his family to court
01:12:07.160 one day and introduced us to his two children and his wife and i thought oh you're nice people and
01:12:11.960 i shook all their hands and said hi and was very pleasant but i'm like then i watched the horrible
01:12:17.000 side of him just go ballistic on you know anything he could use against you and you'd always tell the
01:12:23.640 back of his neck right when he was sitting in there his neck would get really red when he got
01:12:27.320 angry his whole head his whole head it was a cute ball my instinct is to like him but
01:12:36.760 i i was very friendly to him for all everyone i'm i'm a very friendly person and then finally i
01:12:42.280 remember like by that time when it was bring your kid to the crown prosecutor longest mischief trial
01:12:47.160 of all time day i was like first of all what why does this kind of his kids here anyways whatever
01:12:53.080 i get it um and i saw you shaking their their hand and i think i said something to you that day i was
01:12:58.120 like you know you're so nice chris like usually it's me that's the nice one but you know this
01:13:02.600 man's trying to put you in jail for 10 years like and i stopped being nice i wasn't rude but i
01:13:08.440 stopped smiling and i stopped saying good morning why am i gonna say good morning to someone who's
01:13:12.520 got a big smile on his face when i'm gonna walk in that courtroom and he is gonna try to twist
01:13:17.160 my words and make me seem like a monster he's trying to convince somebody that doesn't know
01:13:22.280 me sitting up behind that desk that i am the worst monster of all time and i need to be in jail for
01:13:27.400 10 years he is not my friend i stopped smiling i do not smile i don't shake his hand i don't talk
01:13:34.520 to them at all his mother died unexpectedly and you know he couldn't attend court and and then of
01:13:41.560 course legacy media you know posted i have the screenshots on my phone somewhere that both of
01:13:46.840 my parents died unexpectedly they didn't report the proper story that his mother died unexpectedly
01:13:53.080 i can't imagine why there's a epony yeah that's right before we uh
01:14:05.080 some of these people yeah we got some questions in the thing tash are you uh watching any questions
01:14:11.240 in there that you could throw up there throw a good one at us let's see i got called illuminati
01:14:15.480 the other day i was oh i was gonna bring that up somebody's recording and i i like this guy
01:14:22.200 his name is alex and most people know him on social media but he's very well articulated
01:14:27.080 he's very intelligent but everybody is a co-opted uh illuminati like or the hell i don't even know
01:14:38.360 what the proper terminology for illuminati is what is that exactly yeah something to do with
01:14:43.800 freemasons or let's see people people uh people are crazy i just put and i always forget to say
01:14:55.320 like share and subscribe i know that's really annoying but you know we do want people to like
01:15:01.400 this channel share it and subscribe to it uh freemasonry yeah that's what he's talking about
01:15:09.880 yeah i'm not illuminati i'm not involved with the freemasons i do have a friend that's
01:15:13.560 the Freemason and he's very
01:15:14.900 he'll answer all the questions
01:15:17.040 the kids
01:15:19.680 are probable fans
01:15:20.520 crown prosecutors
01:15:23.560 oh yeah and that's
01:15:25.600 what I thought too
01:15:26.320 secret society
01:15:29.880 we're in the
01:15:30.660 secret society alright
01:15:33.640 I'll tell you the secret society
01:15:35.760 of shoveling horse manure in the spring
01:15:37.560 when it starts to melt that's what my secret society
01:15:39.760 is going to be
01:15:40.260 this is actually a thing watch what hand signals you put out you know what and I watch this now
01:15:46.160 because I see people you know when people are standing like this or whatever like there's all
01:15:51.260 these signals and actually I said I find myself if I'm speaking on stage and I don't have a
01:15:55.620 microphone I'll find myself doing that too which I was like oh but I remember um after I got out
01:16:02.140 of jail the first time which is still bizarre for me to say but anyways I get out of jail the first
01:16:07.140 time get back to the Swiss hotel this is a long story so we're going to tell it another time I'm
01:16:12.220 just going to give you the gist of it anyways Thomas uh Thomas is is worried um you know
01:16:19.040 because there's all these rumors of course I've been in jail for 18 days and um the Russian there
01:16:24.740 was a Russian guy that was at the Swiss hotel that night that he was worried about because of course
01:16:28.740 everyone's trying to tie us to the Russians anyways just a complete stranger anyhow he brings
01:16:35.100 out this picture and he says that he was getting a lot of emails because there's a picture of me
01:16:39.100 squatting down like this and my hands like this you see it like this oh so i'm so i'm down on my
01:16:45.880 hands and you know resting on my on my knees my elbows on my knees but i was smoking a cigarette
01:16:52.320 at that point and i hate having my picture taken smoking so as we went down it was i think a
01:16:58.020 picture with carl actually our good friend carl yep uh deville and so i flipped my cigarette back
01:17:03.600 and sat down and just rested it
01:17:05.460 hiding it behind my fingers as we took
01:17:07.460 this photo. While the internet
01:17:09.360 was going crazy, he shows me
01:17:11.360 a picture of my hand with a big red
01:17:13.240 circle around it like I'm sorry. I don't even know what
01:17:15.320 that means. I don't even know
01:17:17.280 what that means. Anyways,
01:17:19.460 I'm like, Thomas, I'm like, what are you
01:17:21.400 talking about? I said, I'm hiding a cigarette.
01:17:24.260 Like, literally.
01:17:26.080 You know?
01:17:27.080 Oh, we got a question.
01:17:28.700 Here's a good question.
01:17:31.660 Like this one.
01:17:33.240 Who's your hockey team?
01:17:36.220 Well, drill season starts here shortly, and then we'll get into pulling drills,
01:17:39.720 and we're stuck in, you know, usually a lounge in the evenings after dark.
01:17:42.920 So the last few years I've been cheering for Edmonton, the Oilers.
01:17:46.420 I was an Oilers fan growing up as a kid.
01:17:48.240 Of course, Wayne Gretzky, and I'm kind of an Oilers fan.
01:17:51.620 So I don't want to get chewed apart on social media for that,
01:17:55.000 but I will always watch a hockey game, and I'll usually pick my best team.
01:17:58.500 But Oilers is usually the one that I cheer for.
01:18:00.240 So sorry, Calgary.
01:18:02.480 Well, I'm going to go with the Frontier Flyers in Frontier, Saskatchewan,
01:18:07.420 the senior men's hockey team.
01:18:09.000 I used to love watching those games.
01:18:11.200 The Seanan Badgers.
01:18:12.960 Dad was heavily involved in all that Southern Hockey League there.
01:18:19.760 So, it extends.
01:18:21.820 Oh, yeah, real hockey.
01:18:23.480 I don't know.
01:18:24.620 Yeah.
01:18:26.360 What else do we got for real quick?
01:18:27.700 I remember that Peter.
01:18:28.360 I did see another one.
01:18:30.600 Oh, yeah.
01:18:32.480 question do you think it's time for a leader to step up to the alberta independence movement
01:18:38.380 keith wilson i think that he'd be awesome at it i think he should be president i feel it is too
01:18:43.600 early to present one victim for the haters to focus on that's a really really good question and
01:18:48.300 um i know that i was just like as i said i was just around with uh sheila gun reid and corey
01:18:53.620 morgan talking about a lot a lot this and that question came up a lot um and i know keith's name
01:18:59.320 come up but there's so many and i just think you know leaders real true leaders will show
01:19:04.520 themselves eventually um there's a lot of people that have a lot of questions on alberta independence
01:19:09.960 like who is going to be the leaders who's going to be the negotiators um and those are all great
01:19:14.920 questions but we need to get the petition signed we need to focus on getting the signatures right now
01:19:22.040 um and and then get to the referendum and you know what i mean and in the meantime i believe
01:19:28.920 just like the convoy you know those people will emerge they're they'll come up and you'll recognize
01:19:33.640 them um but it's always one thing i know we're always in a hurry i'm in a hurry too but you know
01:19:39.400 we do have to take our time and it becomes overwhelming it would be like chris if you and
01:19:43.800 i were trying to organize the convoy and trying to figure out everything like what we're going
01:19:47.560 to do before we leave when we get there when we get to ottawa you know we had to literally just
01:19:51.880 basically take one day at a time one hour at a time sometimes focus on the task at hand and then
01:19:58.520 move forward you know well something that's really interesting is going to
01:20:02.300 take place here shortly is in just announced in the last few days and it's
01:20:05.840 kind of trending on Twitter right now as ex-Alberta premier Jason Kenney will be
01:20:10.160 debating Keith Wilson in front of a crowd of people in two different places in
01:20:15.560 Alberta when is that April I think he may I think me yeah again I think that
01:20:22.400 would be you know you know I'm not a huge you know I like Jason Kenney when
01:20:26.360 first came on back in the in the time but then i watched his him through covet and and then i've
01:20:30.600 seen his attitude the last number of years especially attacking you on social media he
01:20:36.200 goes after you quite a bit i'm gonna show you something yeah i'm gonna show you something
01:20:40.440 keep talking we have another question here that i would like to say nope oh yeah that too sorry
01:20:47.880 shelly um there you go here's a picture i want to show you
01:20:56.360 Do you think Kearney is going to overturn the judgment of the Emergency Act?
01:21:01.040 That's a good question.
01:21:03.340 Remember, 10% of cases that are applied to you from the Supreme Court for leave
01:21:07.300 actually end up getting heard by the Supreme Court.
01:21:09.920 So there's a 90% chance that nothing will.
01:21:12.360 So it'll be a good indicator of whether the federal government falls into that 10% of cases.
01:21:20.260 I don't know how much more time they're going to waste their time on that.
01:21:22.660 Do they have enough liberal judges in the Supreme Court?
01:21:24.760 And then just as Dick Wagner, is he going to recuse himself for the horrible things that he said about the convoy in the past?
01:21:30.760 So we've got, you know, but that's it.
01:21:33.020 Supreme Court's last leg in Canada there.
01:21:36.140 We'll see.
01:21:37.000 I'd be, I'm curious about that.
01:21:41.160 Yeah, I, like you said, only if I, here's, here's what I was looking for.
01:21:45.640 He really liked me when I was helping him on his campaign.
01:21:50.560 Look at that.
01:21:52.420 Oh.
01:21:54.760 yeah jason kenny and tamara standing no and he said some pretty well what what made him you know
01:22:05.220 turn the focus on you because i'm an evil separatist i guess i don't know that's my
01:22:12.500 supper today yeah yeah he uh he um yeah that's quite the i don't really know i think a lot of
01:22:24.460 had to do with you know the stuff that just came out over the convoy and then i think he sort of
01:22:28.540 lost it on social media one day or something about that so i don't know i don't i don't pay much
01:22:33.820 attention to i don't pay much attention to him anyways it'll be a good debate it'll be a really
01:22:39.980 good debate and i mean i think one of the things that really disappointed me so much about jason
01:22:43.740 kenny was just his total complete lack of respect for his fellow citizens and you know i was really
01:22:48.860 impressed with danielle smith when she said you know she's not going to disparage you know a
01:22:53.100 million or however many people in her province because you know they want a better life for
01:22:58.380 their families she's not gonna call them traitors and call them seditionists like so many of these
01:23:03.580 people are you know so i i gave her huge kudos for that i do i really like danielle smith yeah
01:23:11.100 somebody somebody's actually standing up for the people that she represents in this in this country
01:23:16.300 which is nice to see so she's just going to hear it she's not supporting the independence movement
01:23:21.900 but she's the leader of alberta and there's a good number of people out there that want it so
01:23:27.580 yeah shelley uh they pledged to the dark side uh shelley is another person you know the one thing
01:23:34.380 that i wanted to say and i forgot to you when i was speaking here in medicine hat was like the
01:23:38.220 amount of people that were in that room in medicine hat that were behind the scenes that
01:23:42.620 you know attributed to the success of the freedom convoy that people didn't even know
01:23:47.660 you know we had so many people you know working behind the scenes here you know doing things
01:23:51.900 working on committees and uh shelley was one of them shelley was the first one to step up and
01:23:58.300 start getting a bunch of sandwiches organized for us and everything um when we were coming through
01:24:04.140 so nice to see you on here shelley yeah you got your shelley and medicine hat i got my melissa
01:24:10.460 and swift current for you know and different ones and yeah amazing people in every community that
01:24:16.220 we've been around so absolutely have you heard we're headed for another lockdown because of the
01:24:22.780 war i have heard that i mean there's rumblings about it i don't know i wouldn't put anything
01:24:29.840 past it nothing would shock me anymore put it that way but hopefully they're not going to be
01:24:33.880 that ridiculous but it is a little bit um disconcerting watching everything that's going on
01:24:39.060 i mean australia's got a fuel shortage trump announced yesterday that they're ending their
01:24:45.460 strikes and and iran's willing to have a conversation and not go after nuclear weapons
01:24:50.820 so let's just hope that's that's something that can be put on the table and and the conflict which
01:24:55.540 i hope it is because i think it's it's definitely divided a lot more people out here and i for
01:25:00.980 myself personally would not want to see iran with nuclear weapons after all the rhetoric about them
01:25:05.380 wanting death to the u.s and death to you know the jews and there's a long line of people that they
01:25:10.660 they've promised to murder so let's just not give those people nuclear weapons and have
01:25:15.060 a better world to live in that's my opinion that makes sense thank you for your nice words rick
01:25:20.660 thank you um she clearly isn't conservative enough oh that was about
01:25:26.900 trying to read my eyes it was so fun it was so much fun shelly just the hope you're right i mean
01:25:37.280 just the hope when we left and everybody was so happy and excited and actually you know what i
01:25:43.540 was sitting watching uh youtube for a little bit last night and an old uh documentary that rebel
01:25:48.900 news did came up and um it was it was mocha mocha was on it that's when he was still with rebel news
01:25:55.520 and it's really good you should watch it he catches them like right from leaving bc um i
01:26:01.820 didn't watch the whole thing i was going to watch it later because i want to reshare it but it's
01:26:04.780 it's a rebel news documentary called convoy to ottawa and um i don't know if you've seen it yet
01:26:10.140 it's only about 40 minutes long but he's got footage of them coming from calgary because we
01:26:15.280 just joined here in medicine hat but he's got the footage really great footage coming from and
01:26:19.620 interviews with people and you know like nurses all these people that were just out there you
01:26:24.520 it's just so supportive and so played for us and just so excited for the future and yeah
01:26:32.600 we witnessed it firsthand
01:26:36.760 do not
01:26:41.320 and that's another question too i see this right here um
01:26:45.960 you know when it comes to the separation debate in quebec that's happened for so many years and
01:26:51.000 And have they received the hate that, you know, like we see people walking into the store of, you know, Mitch LeVester's place with a bullet and dropping it off on the table saying, this is for you.
01:27:02.780 That's a death threat, sorry.
01:27:04.640 But because you have a difference in political opinion, you know, democracy works two ways like that.
01:27:10.960 You vote it out if you want and then vote it in if you, if you, it's, you're up to you.
01:27:15.680 But, but going down the road like that is unbelievable.
01:27:18.880 mm-hmm that's a really good point though i mean yeah there is it is a bit of a double standard um
01:27:28.480 for sure well i think i'm going to go upstairs and have some supper now and uh probably
01:27:35.120 probably has to go feed her son right so i did something i will never do again i ordered a
01:27:41.760 burrito real quick before we started this and my lips and face and eyes were everything was
01:27:46.400 burning before we started this i didn't even know if i was gonna be able to get on it so jonathan
01:27:52.160 got home with the truck and had a beer and then i said i gotta go downstairs and fire it up so
01:27:57.040 um might have another beer with supper and then call it an early night i gotta get you up early
01:28:01.360 in the morning we're heading up to warm in saskatchewan to load a load tomorrow for the
01:28:05.760 states and uh should be kind of cool and exciting so watch for bigger head on the road tomorrow
01:28:10.400 it's still dirty from yesterday's drive back home it was disgusting roads and uh and of course i
01:28:15.280 So I don't have a wash to be on the farm here.
01:28:16.700 So in the summertime, we wash outside on the gravel with a pressure washer.
01:28:19.940 But, you know, I got to go to town and wash.
01:28:22.740 And hopefully I can get things cleaned up in the morning when I get there.
01:28:25.120 And she's all fancy.
01:28:27.920 Well, I want to thank you, Chris.
01:28:30.360 This was a really great conversation.
01:28:34.160 And I want to thank everybody for coming.
01:28:36.080 I also want to thank Tasha for all of her hard work back there and for everything that she's done.
01:28:40.800 And I want to remind you that next week we have Carrie Sakamoto as our vaccine injury story for April.
01:28:47.840 She's going to be joining us on Thursday night to tell us her story.
01:28:51.440 We're going to find out how her lawsuit is doing.
01:28:53.800 I know she's got a case up and she's been she's been busy to get going around and doing some advocacy.
01:28:59.520 So super excited to have Carrie Sakamoto on the show.
01:29:03.220 Anything else that you want to add, Chris?
01:29:05.580 Just as we're dedicating, you know, episodes to the vaccine injured people throughout the course of the month.
01:29:10.800 We want to have some doctors on here and have a chat.
01:29:12.960 Then, of course, at other times, we just want to sit and bullshit like what we did tonight.
01:29:16.660 I think that was a good night.
01:29:18.020 And like you said, email us at 18.housearrest.
01:29:24.200 I'm going to mess that one up.
01:29:25.580 It's weird.
01:29:27.940 18house.arrest at gmail.com.
01:29:30.460 This was so much easier 20 years ago when we were all just getting brand new gmails.
01:29:35.400 But it's not so easy anymore to just set up a gmail account.
01:29:38.160 yes everyone please if you have a comment a question um please email 18 house dot arrest
01:29:45.200 at gmail.com you can also find us on x at 18 house house and of course the one and only
01:29:52.520 chris barber is uh at chris barber 1975 um email us your questions your comments any guest
01:30:00.020 suggestions ideas you may have for the show um even if you just want to share something but i
01:30:04.800 will say i do get the odd um person that sends mass mass emails with a lot of links i'm not i do
01:30:12.200 not have time for that it's just going to be instant delete because i you know i can't when
01:30:17.520 you open up the inbox and there's like 30 emails from the same person it's all forward forward
01:30:22.040 forward forward um yeah i'm sorry i don't have time to to read all of that and i i don't think
01:30:28.980 people and i i don't mean this in a disrespectful way at all but i don't think people understand the
01:30:33.060 pressures that we get put under when it comes to Chris will you do this or Chris will you do that
01:30:37.480 or support this or you know I got a I got a message from somebody one day that had to go fund me for
01:30:42.840 her birthday for raising money for her birthday and I thought this isn't the purpose of go fund
01:30:47.280 me I appreciate the message but you know there's certain stuff that you have to kind of ignore out
01:30:51.820 there and when people send me messages on Facebook with just video links and all that 90% of them I
01:30:56.260 don't watch I just don't have the time in the day so I appreciate you thinking about me but
01:31:00.500 that and we try to like we i think we make a very concerted effort to try to help you know as many
01:31:05.900 people as we can um we don't have a big platform here but i really am proud that we do have
01:31:11.480 something that we can bring guests on and try to help them with their respective fundraisers or
01:31:15.560 bring attention to their causes or whatever so i mean i think we do what we can and we'll just do
01:31:20.880 we just can't help everyone but you know we can try yeah we try but at the end of the day we're
01:31:26.900 we're two people after ourselves too yeah lots going on in a day well we appreciate support
01:31:32.020 everybody and thanks for watching and have a great night everyone we'll see you next week
01:31:36.260 thank you so much for joining us have a good night
