00:04:34.920 give him some progressive insight to become, you know, head of trust and safety on the platform.

00:10:08.820 Now, if you were following this program in 2021, in the fall, there was a huge scandal,
00:10:16.700 even back to the summer, that erupted multiple incidents of sexual assault taking place in
00:10:23.200 bathrooms in Loudoun County Schools.
00:10:25.400 There was a father who was arrested after causing a disturbance and he did cause a disturbance
00:10:32.240 at a school board meeting.
00:10:34.960 But we later found out why he caused that disturbance because the school board refused to meet with
00:10:41.000 him, refused to hear his concerns and his discussions.
00:10:44.420 And it later came out, thanks to the Halkion work of one Luke Rosiak over at the Daily Wire,
00:10:52.480 a fantastic investigative journalist, investigative reporter.
00:10:56.340 It came out that that father's daughter had been raped by a boy wearing a skirt inside the 0.66
00:11:04.400 Loudoun County bathrooms. 0.88
00:11:05.920 And it turned out it wasn't the first sexual assault that that boy had committed.
00:11:12.260 Libby Emmons, walk us through what happened in this case.
00:11:18.640 And then also we have to get into the fact that the New York Times, of all places, came out attacking
00:11:25.880 anyone who criticized this situation, anyone who criticized the superintendents, the school
00:11:33.960 district, they said the school district has come under attack by right wing pundits and
00:11:39.340 conservatives.
00:11:40.720 There's a huge article up by Michelle Goldberg, you know, the right's big lie about a sexual 0.99
00:11:46.500 assault in Virginia.
00:11:48.520 And now here we are, a little over a year later, the superintendent's been indicted.
00:11:54.660 What's gone wrong in Loudoun County?
00:11:56.420 So pretty much everything has gone wrong in Loudoun County.
00:12:01.060 And so many of other of our school districts are in peril for similar reasons, actually.
00:12:07.620 So you had a young girl, a ninth grader, I believe, and she was raped in the school bathroom by a
00:12:16.860 boy that she knew who was wearing a skirt. 1.00
00:12:19.240 And later it was revealed that it was forcible sodomy as well as forcible fellatio. 0.99
00:12:24.600 About a month later, the school was trying to push through transgender bathroom policies 0.97
00:12:31.360 so that anybody can use any bathroom that they want.
00:12:35.240 And also there were issues regarding pronouns.

00:12:39.680 Parents showed up to ask questions about the gender neutral bathroom policies that the school 1.00

00:12:49.900 board meeting to tell the school board and to talk to them about how his daughter was,
00:12:54.980 you know, sexually assaulted like this in the in the school bathroom.
00:13:00.780 And in fact, he was arrested himself at that school board meeting for what they said was
00:13:07.480 causing a disturbance when really he was trying to get justice for his daughter, who he sent
00:13:12.520 to school where she's supposed to get educated and she came home having been sexually violated 0.60

00:13:21.880 The other thing, too, that happened is as this case unfolded and before all of the details
00:13:27.640 came out, Mr. Smith, the young girl's father, ended up being part of the justification for the
00:13:35.420 Biden administration and Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice to go after angry parents 0.93
00:13:41.580 who go to speak at school board meetings.
00:13:43.200 If we remember, there were lots of parents going to school board meetings, speaking out
00:13:47.680 about trans bathroom policies, pronoun policies, pornography in school libraries, which we saw
00:13:55.380 quite a lot of also school masking, also, you know, vaccination mandates, and also COVID lockdown
00:14:05.220 restrictions, remote school, all of these things.
00:14:07.820 Parents really did get involved during the pandemic when they saw how poorly their students were
00:14:13.600 being treated at schools by administrators and educators also, I think, were very angry
00:14:19.920 as well at how some of this stuff went down.
00:14:23.100 So a man's daughter is raped in a bathroom and the federal government uses his anger at that
00:14:31.520 situation to declare that they are going to prosecute parents with the same tools that they
00:14:37.480 use to prosecute domestic terrorists.
00:14:40.020 And Libby, I want to read for you a little bit from that New York Times op-ed, because
00:14:45.560 listen to this.
00:14:47.500 This is a story about how the right twisted the sexual assault of a teenager into a culture
00:14:53.340 of war fantasy.
00:14:55.180 It's about how a distorted tale on a conservative website became grist for a nationwide moral panic.
00:15:04.620 On June 22nd, a middle-aged plumber named Scott Smith was dragged, lip bleeding, and hands
00:15:10.640 cuffed behind his back from a raucous school board meeting in Loudoun County, Virginia.
00:15:15.140 According to the local newspaper, he'd been swearing loudly at another parent and leaning
00:15:19.900 toward her with a clenched fist when the police tackled him and pulled him outside.
00:15:24.580 He'd eventually be convicted of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and given a suspended
00:15:29.220 10-day sentence, Smith's image quickly went viral as a sort of symbol of the sort of school
00:15:35.980 board strife breaking out across all over America.
00:15:39.780 The National School Board Association writing to President Biden to request help dealing with
00:15:44.380 a number of growing threats and violence and acts of intimidation directed at school board
00:15:49.620 members included Smith's arrest in a list of examples.
00:15:52.900 So, in the New York Times is telling, the aggressor here is the father, is the father who's
00:16:00.620 upset at the superintendents that led a rapist into the, a known rapist, into school with
00:16:08.240 his daughter and then lied about it, for which they're now indicted.
00:16:13.560 And, and, and, and, and, and double fact check me here for a second, was, was that the, the
00:16:19.400 second assault or the first?
00:16:22.620 So, this incident, um, in 2021, this May incident was the first assault.
00:16:28.080 This was the first, okay.
00:16:28.760 This, this was the first assault.
00:16:30.380 However, the school, instead of dealing with the assault, instead of dealing with this child,
00:16:35.020 um, who committed the assault on his, uh, on, on this young girl, just transferred him off
00:16:41.640 to another school in the district and did not give the new, um, the new school any information
00:16:47.520 about what had happened and teachers and students alike at the new school were very wary of him
00:16:52.420 because of his new behavior.
00:16:53.580 And he did engage in what they call inappropriate touching, uh, you know, on another female student.

00:17:01.160 At the school, eventually this, um, this man was, um, let's see, he was put into a residential
00:17:08.760 mental health program on probation until he's 18.
00:17:12.820 And also the judge in his case said that he had to register as a sex offender, which she
00:17:18.540 also said is something that she does not typically do for minors, but in this case felt that it
00:17:22.980 was decidedly warranted.
00:17:24.940 So the school, the initial school covered up the, um, covered up the rape, covered up the
00:17:31.120 assault, went after the father. 1.00

00:19:14.460 Uh, one count of false publication, one count of prohibited conduct, one count of penalizing
00:19:20.880 an employee for a court appearance, uh, which are all misdemeanors.
00:19:25.140 Also the public information officer that the father Scott Smith mentioned, whose name is
00:19:32.220 Wade Byard was indicted on one count of felony perjury, which carries a maximum sentence of 12
00:19:37.980 months.
00:19:38.260 And he could also be facing a hefty fine of $2,500.
00:19:42.500 And this is all really about the coverup.
00:19:44.980 And if there's anything we know about, um, you know, American politics and culture, it's
00:19:51.340 really the coverup that is always the problem.
00:19:53.520 If these men had come forward and been direct and said, this is what happened.
00:19:58.280 They wouldn't, they wouldn't have lost their job.
00:20:02.800 No, and I'm glad they did, but let's get into that because, and I think, you know, you,
00:20:07.100 you know, the reason why, why was it that they didn't come forward?
00:20:10.500 And why was it that they were not open about this horrific situation when it took place?
00:20:14.480 What possible reason could they have to cover up a sexual assault that happened in their
00:20:21.120 school?
00:20:22.280 So the grand jury that was, uh, that was held to take a look at this said that at every
00:20:28.820 step of the investigation, the Loudoun County administrators were looking out for themselves
00:20:33.800 and their own interests and not the interests of the students.
00:20:37.400 So I think that there's probably a twofold reason.
00:20:40.560 One, they didn't want to go after a boy in a skirt.
00:20:43.660 Since everyone knows that boys who wear skirts are saints with gender identity issues that 1.00

00:20:50.880 And the other one, of course, is that they just didn't want to deal with it.

00:22:50.000 You know, they're thinking if they go on in Loudoun County, this is one of the most powerful
00:22:53.360 school districts in Virginia.
00:22:54.480 So they could, you know, potentially looking for a higher political office, looking to
00:22:59.160 leverage that into a possible county commissioner seat, or maybe run for even Congress.
00:23:05.920 Eventually this is Northern Virginia.
00:23:07.580 These are some of the richest elites in, certainly in our government reside there.

00:23:14.260 And they are all looking for, to your point, for their own ability.
00:23:18.400 So they want to be able to say, if they're out there on the campaign trail, we were the
