On the eve of the Feast of All Hallows, we turn to the Book of Revelation, when we are faced with what appears to be potentially a new apocalypse. Why is it that we read from the apocalypse on this day? We turn to Dr. Taylor Marshall, who wrote a book about that very subject.

00:02:47.080And there is a tradition on All Hallows' Day that in church, when we go, the reading is always from the Book of Revelations, or in Greek, the Book of the Apocalypse, the Revelation to John.
00:03:12.340Israeli forces have crossed into the Gaza Strip.
00:03:15.500There are clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters in the To'am area, Erez, Bayed Hanun, across the northern Gaza Strip, all the way down to Jura al-Dyke.
00:03:32.500Missiles are being fired from Iranian-backed groups all the way down in Yemen.
00:03:38.580These are the Houthis up through the Arabian Peninsula and into Israel.
00:03:43.840Much of this sounds like it speaks in the language of perhaps prophecy.
00:03:51.680And so on today, the day that we turn to the Book of the Apocalypse, when we are faced with what appears to be potentially a new apocalypse,
00:04:00.320we turn to Dr. Taylor Marshall, who wrote a book about that very subject.
00:04:05.840Dr. Taylor Marshall joins us again here at Human Events.
00:04:08.800Dr. Taylor Marshall, why is it that we read from the Book of the Apocalypse on this day?
00:04:14.340Well, as you said, in the Catholic tradition, today is the Feast of All Saints.
00:04:19.540This is the day we recognize that there are people who have served Jesus Christ, they have been faithful, and some of them are unknown to us.
00:04:28.020Not every saint is canonized and has its own feast day on the calendar.
00:04:32.200And today we recognize everyone who has persevered and followed Jesus Christ and entered into that heavenly glory.
00:04:40.340And so it's appropriate on the Feast of All Saints to open up the apocalypse,
00:04:45.120because the Book of Revelation reveals history from the perspective not of earth, but the perspective of heaven.
00:04:52.280And how God sees the unrolling of the seals and of history throughout time, all the way until Jesus comes again.
00:05:02.000And so the perspective of all saints in heaven is apocalyptic.
00:05:06.820And John, the apostle, was allowed to have a vision of that on the island of Patmos.
00:05:11.980And so the Church honors that by reading from the Apocalypse of St. John, so that we get a perspective, not just down here,
00:05:20.080but we get the perspective, the eternal perspective, from God's point of view and all the saints.
00:05:27.040And this is so key for everyone to understand.
00:05:30.280And I know last year, when we played the episode again yesterday, you pointed out that at the harvest time, at the harvest season,
00:05:37.920this is why we turn to the harvest of souls, which will take place at the apocalypse.
00:05:46.560This is very clear. This is unquestionable.
00:05:49.080This is exactly what goes on at the time of the second coming, the time of the apocalypse.
00:05:54.020But I have a question, and we're going to get into it, piece it out throughout today's episode,
00:05:58.140because it seems to me like there are people who actually feel that their political and leadership roles in this crisis are to force the meeting.
00:06:17.180And they believe that war is the answer to achieve it.
00:06:20.640We're going to unpack all of this here today.

00:20:02.580but so Dr. Marshall, you are going through the theology of dispensationalism.
00:20:11.360And we got a comment in over the break, and I'd love to read this for you because we got someone,
00:20:16.760I'm not going to put him on blast or say his name, but we got someone who's very upset with you.
00:20:20.860He says, dispensational theology is a fancy name to say the literal translation of the Bible,
00:20:28.580whereas covenant theology is a conspiracy theory.
00:20:33.100It's theoretical, fabricated, opinion-based, and a deceptive translation of the Bible.
00:20:41.180He says you're being deceptive and spreading conspiracy theories about a covenant between Jesus and the church,
00:20:48.480whereas dispensationalism is the literal translation.
00:20:52.360What is he talking about, and how would you respond to that?
00:20:56.500Well, I'd respond right out the gate to this gentleman.
00:21:00.540Look, every single Christian from AD 33 until the mid-1800s 100% disagreed with you.
00:21:09.100This is not what was taught in historic Christianity.
00:21:12.360All these great theologians, saints, martyrs, the way they read Scripture is not the way that you were understanding Scripture.
00:21:21.460And it all comes from this guy, Darby, who thought up this new idea of the dispensations.
00:21:28.380This is just not historical Christianity.
00:21:33.420Instead, as the commenter said, covenantal theology is the historical understanding of how God relates in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the End Times.
00:21:44.640And this idea is when God created Adam and Eve, his intention wasn't just to save a segment of humanity that descended from Abraham.
00:21:53.360In a way, by him choosing Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, what he did is he created one nation, one people, to prepare them to be, if you want to kind of use a military analogy, a landing pad, a safe place for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to enter into the world.
00:22:12.940That's why our Lord Jesus Christ came into the world through Israel, through the Jews.
00:22:18.400But the intention, this rescue mission from heaven, was always to incorporate and include and save every single child of Adam and Eve, the entire human race, right?
00:22:30.840As we say, Jack, as Catholics, it's catholikos, universal, the whole world.
00:22:37.300So God has established his covenant with Adam and Eve in Genesis.
00:22:40.460And Jacob, doesn't St. Paul say this quite explicitly, where it says the Jews, then the Gentiles?
00:23:26.780St. Paul says in Romans chapter 9 through 11, but in particular chapter 11, that in the end, God will bring the Jews back through belief in Jesus Christ.
00:23:37.300Catholics believe that, Orthodox believe that, every Christian believes that.
00:23:41.220But the mechanisms and the structures of dispensationalism are not in the Scripture.
00:24:04.880It's putting ideas into Scripture that simply aren't there.
00:24:10.060And my concern as a Christian is dispensationalists, if they follow their theology and their principles, they could get us into a really horrific war.
00:24:19.640And if it's not this one, it could be a future one by pushing and promoting really radical forms of violence in order to fulfill a theology that no Christian on earth believed in until the mid-1800s.
00:24:39.680I think we need to read Scripture in continuity with all of our Christian brothers and sisters throughout time, as we might say, Jack, with all the saints, which is today's feast day.
00:24:49.060Let's read the Scripture of all the saints, and not with some whacked-out idea that appeared in southwest England in the mid-1800s.
00:25:00.720And to be true to the sacred Scriptures is to read them soberly and in line with those who came before us.
00:25:07.860Well, and just look at the historical record.
00:25:10.760Let's go back for a minute here because, you know, certainly there have been wars that Christians have supported in the Middle East.
00:25:17.680But predominantly those have been for the Holy Land and the protection of the holy sites within the land of Israel.
00:25:25.980Even before, or long, long before, almost 900 years before the founding of the modern state of Israel were the Crusades.
00:25:34.780So even at the height of Christendom, okay, even 1000 AD, the height of Christian Europe, when Christianity and the monarchs of Europe were synonymous.
00:25:45.060They had armies at their beck and call.
00:25:48.780You do not have anyone throughout this entire period, several hundred years of Christendom, where they ever try to go to the Middle East to launch a war against all of the neighboring countries in order to bring about the end times.
00:26:03.860It's just never something that occurred.
00:26:05.500But what did occur to them was the defense of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the defense of pilgrims that were going to visit the Holy Land, some of these basic ideas that were really brought about all the way back to the time of St. Helena and Emperor Constantine.
00:26:23.500Constantine, you know, she being one of the first, you know, basically royal pilgrims, honestly, the first royal pilgrim from Rome to visit the Holy Land, which really laid out so much of the site, so many of the sites.
00:26:38.000You never saw this theology that we're talking about brought out.
00:26:42.220And yet there are people and this is why it's key.
00:26:45.420And that's why we're doing the show today.
00:26:47.100And to people out there that are upset with us.
00:26:49.800Well, I'm just going to come out and say it.
00:27:32.820That's what these types of wars look like.
00:27:34.920And that's without the use of nuclear weapons.
00:27:37.480Which, by the way, do people really think that Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons, doesn't have a couple of hot ones sitting on the shelf that they're not telling us about?
00:27:59.980And that's not a place where I want to get to, and I'm not interested.
00:28:04.040But with Dr. Marshall, that is very intriguing to me, too, because why would it be then that these theologians weren't at the height of Christendom calling for this holy war to bring about and usher in the end of time and Christ's return?
00:28:20.800Yeah, and we have to ask ourselves, you know, for the Christians watching, and maybe you're watching, you are a dispensationalist.
00:28:27.680You think this is the right way to read the Bible.
00:28:29.760You have to ask yourself, read the four Gospels.
00:28:50.120He asks of them faith in himself, that the people of God, that his family, that his church are those who are aligned with him.
00:29:01.380And ultimately, part of the message of Jesus is your DNA, whatever it is, does not de facto guarantee you a place in heaven.
00:29:12.100That would be kind of a really immature and kind of backward understanding of what it means to serve God, that I have a certain DNA, and therefore I have the golden ticket.
00:29:22.640I mean, Jesus says that he can make sons of Abraham out of these rocks, right?
00:29:27.320What he wants is he wants people to repent, to believe in him, and to love God and their neighbor with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength.
00:29:36.760That is the core teaching of the Gospel.
00:29:39.060And what's troubling for many of us is we look at dispensationalists, and they seem to be getting away from that core teaching of the Gospel.
00:29:46.760And they're looking more and more to a political fulfillment of God's will.
00:29:52.560And that is exactly what Jesus Christ rejected.
00:29:55.780In fact, that's what most theologians say about Judas, that he betrayed Jesus because he didn't see this political mechanism occurring.
00:30:04.320And now the dispensationalists are sort of trying to recreate a political mechanism to usher in the second coming of Christ, not the first coming.
00:30:12.020And I just think that's really dangerous.
00:30:13.740I don't see that in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, or in the apocalypse.
00:30:18.740So I think this is where we sort of hit the pause button and say, are you guys really serious about this theology?
00:30:25.360Is this really in accord with the core teachings of Jesus and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?
00:30:56.820We are going to get into it because I'm not interested in my children, my two beautiful little sons, going off and dying in the desert for your wars.

00:33:45.280Tell us, we can't know exactly who the Antichrist is, but what do we know about the Antichrist?
00:33:51.560I think one of the most sobering biblical revelations about who the Antichrist is, is he will be the one who establishes peace amongst the nations.
00:34:05.560He will be a false messiah, a false Christ, a false political leader.
00:34:12.000He will be the one who unites seemingly the Jews, the Muslims, the Christians.
00:34:50.580So when you look at the Holy Land, you look at Jerusalem, you have to realize that that's going to be the ground evil or the ground center, right?
00:34:58.880Ground zero of evil in the world, of persecution of those who truly love God and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
00:35:08.000So I think we have to look at what do we expect when the Antichrist to come?
00:35:12.620And he will come in a way that you will want to like him.
00:35:18.040Everyone watching this right now, when you see him, you are going to want to like him.
00:35:24.140St. Paul says there will be a great delusion over all of mankind, and there will be a uniting of the nations in order to honor, respect, and eventually worship this evil man.
00:35:37.200And once he gains his power, once that happens, that is when he will flip, and that will bring about the great tribulation, the great persecution that our Lord Jesus Christ talked about,
00:35:48.700the great Armageddon that St. John sees in the book of Revelation.
00:35:54.140So remember, when you're cheering for these wars or rooting for your guy, remember how the most possessed and evil man in the history of mankind, how he will emerge.
00:36:07.040And think and pray accordingly, because it will be a moment of deceit over the entire human race.
00:36:16.140So we're talking about someone here, this unifier, because, you know, certainly, and this is, it's interesting, because I want to point out to people that said, look, we call for peace in the Middle East every single day on this program.
00:36:30.720But we do so, and I would say, you know, when you talk about the MAGA movement, you talk about America first, we're not talking about establishing a global order.
00:36:38.860We're talking about establishing primacy for America in American policy, and in privacy for Americans.
00:36:45.380When we talk about the polarizing figure of Donald Trump or any other America first leader, we're talking about pulling out of global orders.
00:36:52.260We're talking about pulling out of these systems.
00:36:54.220We're talking about saying and doing things that ruffle feathers, just like this program is today.
00:36:59.500And we're not talking about using, and what you say, it's so important, this, we're talking about the father of lies, the prince of lies, people who go around spreading these lies, but in a way that makes you feel good, in a way that makes you feel as if you're part of something, as if you're doing something better.
00:37:18.180This is for the greater good, it's for all things, it's not transactional, it's not something where we're putting military interests or geopolitical interests or economic interests.
00:37:31.000And by the way, I'll mention it while I'm on the topic, but a lot of what we're seeing right now is being driven by the fact that Israel just found a massive oil deposit right off of their coast called the Leviathan oil field.
00:37:42.800So when I talk about geopolitics, folks, usually what I go to and I use my rubric is, you know, look for the oil, chercher la petrol.
00:37:50.880It's not like, you know, the French have a saying in chercher la femme, like look for the woman in any affair.
00:37:55.380Well, I would say chercher la petrol in geopolitical affairs, international affairs, because you can see that certainly drives a lot of things.
00:38:02.300That's obviously what's driving Israeli and Azerbaijan interests right now, which was to the detriment of the Armenian Christians, as we can see.
00:38:11.360So if you if you understand that key aspect, then things begin to lock into place.
00:38:16.460But of course, it also gave the Iranians a free hand.
00:38:18.880And now here we are. So we're not talking about biblical philosophy driving events.
00:38:22.720We're talking about very basic geopolitics, very basic economics.
00:39:31.260And these three personages make up the unholy trinity, the unholy alliance.
00:39:39.220And of course, the dragon, Satan, is inspiring, is indwelling, is possessing the Antichrist and leading him to have these seemingly miraculous powers to unite the nations, to deceive the nations.
00:39:52.780And then this third character is the false prophet.
00:39:55.640And the false prophet is a religious leader.
00:39:57.680And he recreates a global religion that unites all people.
00:40:04.960But ultimately, it starts to serve the worship of the Antichrist.
00:40:11.080So this false prophet is leading all humanity into a new religion that ultimately worships the Antichrist as the new Messiah, the new son of God, the new prince of peace, although it is a false peace.
00:40:25.360And so that right there in if you want to get down to the nitty gritty of the Antichrist in the Bible, you go to Revelation chapter 13.
00:40:33.440And Revelation chapter 13 ends with the false prophet and the Antichrist establishing the mark of the beast.
00:40:41.960And the mark of the beast is placed in two places, on the forehead and on the right hand.
00:40:48.960And these locations signify your thoughts, your beliefs, your convictions, what you hold in your mind.
00:40:55.480And then on the right hand, that signifies your acts, your deeds, your actions, what you do.
00:41:03.180And whether or not there is a literal mark, there very well could be.
00:41:06.460But the idea is that the lies of Satan, the reign of the Antichrist is imprinted in your mind and in your deeds.
00:41:15.040And that's what we're called to resist.

00:44:23.720They would say Maranatha, and it means the Lord is coming or the Lord come.
00:44:27.880That's actually how they greeted one another.
00:44:29.620They thought of the Lord returning, Jesus Christ, as a good and joyful thing.
00:44:34.940It is the reconciliation of the entire universe back to God, the fulfillment of God's plan.
00:44:43.360And I think if you have faith, if you are trying to love God, as Jesus says, with your whole heart, mind, soul, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself, and your eyes are looking up towards heaven, there is nothing to be afraid of.
00:45:00.920You know, today's the feast of all saints, and so many of the saints were eaten by lions and burned alive and decapitated and skinned while they were still alive.
00:45:10.260And many of these were singing hymns as they were tortured and as they died.
00:45:14.560And so, really, my message to everyone out there is, Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, and he reigns chiefly, not in Jerusalem, he reigns chiefly in the human heart.
00:45:25.680So, turn to Jesus Christ, believe in him, and experience the peace that only he can give.
00:45:31.880But no matter what you're called to do, whether it's to be a martyr and to suffer, or to live out this life with other kinds of sufferings and tribulations, ultimately, that is the reason God made you.
00:45:44.340And that is where you will find your meaning, is carrying your cross in and with Jesus.
00:47:07.420You add up all of our troops around the Middle East.
00:47:09.400We're talking about potentially 50,000 Americans that are sitting right there.
00:47:14.080They're sitting right there within range of all these things.
00:47:16.420And then if this sparks into a wider war – and by the way, keep in mind, folks, I'm saying a lot of – do you really want to go to World War III with Joe Biden at the helm, this guy?
