Human Events Daily with Jack Posobiec - Human Events Daily - Oct 15 2021 - H.E. + Rasmussen Poll Shows Concerns over Supply Chain Disruption

00:00:00.000 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition Human Events Daily.

00:00:04.600 First up, an exclusive Human Events Rasmussen poll shows the public is deeply concerned over Biden's supply chain disruption.

00:00:12.820 Next, the Chicago police force is facing a 50% reduction in cops on patrol due to the coronavirus vaccine mandate.

00:00:21.940 Next, new report out of the Pentagon, suicide has killed more soldiers in just the past few months than COVID since the start of the pandemic.

00:00:30.820 And finally, Kavanaugh and Kagan are getting into it over the Boston bomber death penalty case.

00:00:35.940 All this and more ahead, Human Events Daily.

00:00:37.540 Now, we know that supply chain disruption has been a huge factor this week.

00:00:54.280 And of course, going into Q4, going into essentially looking at Christmas.

00:00:58.460 That's why I've told people, if you want to go to MyPillow.com, promo code POSO, you get the products that are made in America.

00:01:03.720 You get them now. Make sure you put your orders in because Christmas is coming.

00:01:08.840 And Biden's supply chain disruptions mean that if your product was made overseas, it might not make it by Christmas.

00:01:15.260 Now, listen to what Jen Psaki had to say recently about this.

00:01:17.600 Based on everything being announced today, can this administration guarantee that holiday packages will arrive on time?

00:01:26.880 We are not the Postal Service or UPS or FedEx.

00:01:29.680 We cannot guarantee.

00:01:31.040 What we can do is use every lever at the federal government disposal to reduce delays,

00:01:38.300 to ensure that we are addressing bottlenecks in the system, including ports and the need for them to be open longer hours so that goods can arrive.

00:01:49.820 And we can continue to press not only workers and unions, but also companies to take as many steps as they can to reduce these delays.

00:01:59.160 Now, Human Events. Now, over at Human Events, I'm the senior editor.

00:02:02.880 So if you go to humanevents.com, you can read all about this.

00:02:05.320 We just co-sponsored a poll with Rasmussen, all about supply chains.

00:02:09.800 Listen to what we found.

00:02:11.160 Americans are deeply concerned about the supply chain crisis and expect federal government action.

00:02:16.780 A new telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports and Human Events finds that 85% of American adults are concerned that supply chain problems may lead to shortages of basic items,

00:02:29.840 including 49% who say they are very concerned.

00:02:33.760 Only 11% were not concerned about the problem.

00:02:36.960 Concerts have grown amid reports that dozens of cargo ships are waiting to be unloaded near the port of Los Angeles,

00:02:43.760 while thousands of cargo containers are piled up in the port of Savannah, Georgia, the East Coast.

00:02:48.820 62% of Americans say they've already noticed shortages of basic items in stores where they live.

00:02:56.760 Only 30% say they haven't.

00:02:58.160 Again, 65% say that they believe the federal government should take action to help fix the problems currently affecting the U.S. supply chain.

00:03:08.920 Ladies and gentlemen, we're headed towards Christmas.

00:03:11.420 We are hurtling towards multiple crises on multiple fronts.

00:03:15.560 You've got constitutional crises.

00:03:18.000 You've got a financial crisis that's burgeoning.

00:03:20.900 Why do you think crypto is exploding right now, especially with Bitcoin?

00:03:24.320 Hyperinflation, it's here.

00:03:28.480 It's just already here.

00:03:29.380 There's the same reason that the real estate market is heating up and taking off right now so much, right?

00:03:34.120 It's not because more people are getting into the real estate market.

00:03:36.720 It's because people want to park their money in real estate to use that as a store of wealth.

00:03:41.820 The supply chain issue is driving inflation.

00:03:45.760 It's keeping your products scarce right at the time that's supposed to be.

00:03:50.200 That, you know, for a lot of retailers, this is their biggest quarter of the year.

00:03:54.700 This is the year that essentially covers the rest of the year.

00:03:58.400 All of this lies at the feet of Joe Biden and the federal government and their policies.

00:04:05.320 Stores not being able to put products on the shelves.

00:04:09.200 And we're also hearing at some points, in some parts, Costco, Sam's Club, they're talking about rationing.

00:04:17.740 They're talking about rationing your products and putting caps on how much you're allowed to buy of certain goods.

00:04:24.800 Does that sound like anything to anybody?

00:04:27.320 Does that sound like a little place, a little country?

00:04:31.980 What was it called?

00:04:32.660 What was it called again?

00:04:33.200 Oh, right, yes.

00:04:34.320 The Soviet Union.

00:04:35.660 This is the problem with central planning.

00:04:41.000 Central planning always falls apart.

00:04:44.440 And then Joe Biden said, well, we really need to get the private sector involved.

00:04:47.840 Who do you think runs the supply chain, Joe?

00:04:51.800 Who do you think is actually running this stuff?

00:04:54.220 Because I assure you, it ought not to be the government.

00:04:58.180 You need to get Anthony Fauci out of the supply chain business.

00:05:01.520 You need to get all of these laws and regulations off the books.

00:05:05.820 Allow the logistics experts in this country, the people who want to obviously maintain a financial gain from this.

00:05:14.780 And most importantly, I said it yesterday.

00:05:15.880 I'm going to say it again. 0.99

00:05:16.860 You need to take off these stupid regulations that aren't allowing us to achieve energy independence, 0.98

00:05:23.420 to use the energy resources that we have right here in the United States to bring down the cost of diesel. 0.97

00:05:29.900 If you bring down the cost of diesel, that will absolutely flood the trucking market.

00:05:35.380 You will see trucks going up and down the highways all day and night if you do this, Joe.

00:05:41.220 Because you need to create a financial.

00:05:43.220 People respond to incentives.

00:05:44.760 It's as simple as that.

00:05:45.860 But this is the problem with the left.

00:05:47.300 They don't understand that humans respond to incentives.

00:05:51.420 They think that they can get everyone to go along with their utopian dreams and it never, ever works.

00:06:02.100 You've heard me say it before.

00:06:03.880 I'm going to say it again.

00:06:05.660 Get out of cities.

00:06:09.140 This is the headline out of Chicago.

00:06:11.800 The Chicago Police Union will have a police force at 50% or less this weekend coming up due to vaccine requirements.

00:06:21.420 I'm going to repeat that.

00:06:23.440 Chicago will have a police force at 50% or less due to vaccine requirements.

00:06:30.300 Have you seen anything that's going on in Chicago lately that might give you the idea that Chicago maybe, just maybe, could use a police force?

00:06:41.780 Our cities are being run into the ground.

00:06:44.440 Our once great American cities are being dismantled.

00:06:49.080 And the anarcho-tyranny is running rampant in the streets.

00:06:51.720 San Francisco, they're lighting homeless people on fire.

00:06:54.940 New York, you've got people shooting up like it's a shooting gallery.

00:06:59.440 In Philadelphia, there's an area they call it Kensington Beach.

00:07:03.080 Why do they call it Kensington Beach?

00:07:04.540 It's not a beach.

00:07:05.140 It's because people are lying on the streets after taking heroin and fentanyl and all this different stuff.

00:07:12.840 And because the addicts are lying out on the street, they call it Kensington Beach because there's so many of them.

00:07:19.100 Listen to this audio from the head of the police union in Chicago.

00:07:22.760 Morning, the FOP president says they will file paperwork today to see if a judge will grant them a temporary restraining order that would stop officers from being forced into revealing their vaccination status.

00:07:31.780 But history shows they may have an uphill battle.

00:07:34.420 Speaking from his West Loop office last night, Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzaro lays out the reasons why he believes the city has overstepped its bounds when it comes to vaccine mandates.

00:07:43.300 I do not believe the city has the authority to mandate that to anybody, let alone that information about your medical history and change the terms of employment, so to speak, on the fly.

00:07:52.580 And you have to comply.

00:07:53.740 Mayor Lightfoot mandated city employees who are not fully vaccinated by Friday to be tested twice a week on their own time and using their own money or be placed on no pay status.

00:08:02.220 The reality is the city acknowledged from the beginning their obligation to bargain in good faith over this subject.

00:08:08.080 They have refused.

00:08:09.020 In a written statement, a city spokesperson said, quote, the city of Chicago continues to bargain in good faith with the Fraternal Order of Police and the Policemen's Benevolent and Protective Association to reach a fair and workable policy that will keep our first responders safe.

00:08:21.340 Now, we've talked about it all this week.

00:08:22.760 We know what this is.

00:08:23.780 This is the freedom flu.

00:08:25.900 Let me read from WQAD.com.

00:08:27.960 In the video posted online, first reported on by the Chicago Sun-Times, he vowed to take Mayor Lightfoot, this is the FOP, to court if it tries to enforce the mandate, which requires city workers to report their vaccine status by the end of the work week.

00:08:42.860 After Friday, unvaccinated workers won't submit to semi-weekly coronavirus testing will be placed on unpaid leave.

00:08:52.540 He suggested that if the city does enforce this requirement, and many union members refuse to comply with it, that the city police force will be at 50% or less for the weekend coming up.

00:09:03.380 Now, the mayor, of course, didn't respond.

00:09:05.860 So understand this.

00:09:06.880 Understand this.

00:09:08.580 You are now seeing a city.

00:09:09.560 We talked about the airlines.

00:09:10.920 We talked about trucking.

00:09:12.280 We talked about the supply chain issues.

00:09:13.860 We talked about the shipyards issues, where our Navy is now facing the ability where we're not going to be able to refit, refurbish our submarines and our aircraft carriers because of a potential threat in the South China Sea or elsewhere, because the shipyard workers are getting cracked down with this vaccine mandate as well.

00:09:34.080 And now we're talking about the police.

00:09:36.600 It's starting in Chicago.

00:09:38.020 You know this is going to happen with every other major city in the United States.

00:09:41.880 We already had a vastly reduced police force because of the defund the police movement.

00:09:47.780 Police were resigning, right?

00:09:49.760 It just makes, again, I keep saying this, people respond to incentives.

00:09:55.920 It's just as simple as that.

00:09:57.660 If you demonize them, if you tell them that you are going to prosecute them for performing their jobs within the guidelines of the police regulations, the city regulations,

00:10:07.380 you're going to throw them in jail over viral videos, they are going to leave.

00:10:14.460 They are going to walk off and say, you know what?

00:10:17.340 It ain't worth it.

00:10:18.600 I'm going to move. 0.88

00:10:19.680 I'm going to pull chocks. 1.00

00:10:21.160 I'm going to go somewhere else, somewhere where they actually want to keep people safe.

00:10:25.900 It's as simple as that.

00:10:27.160 And that doesn't mean that you sit there and you pound your chest and go back the blue, right?

00:10:33.640 Obviously, there's going to be problems.

00:10:35.200 There are corrupt politicians, and every once in a while, you get corrupt police officers as well.

00:10:39.860 It's as simple as that.

00:10:40.800 It's also part of human failing, which is part of human nature, which comes from original sin, etc., etc.

00:10:46.160 Now, we are talking about a systemic level.

00:10:50.680 You are going to see this.

00:10:51.660 We talked about it yesterday in the military.

00:10:53.660 You're seeing people kicked out of the military, facing court-martial because of this.

00:10:57.780 You're seeing police officers now faced with make this choice, take it or leave.

00:11:04.520 Take it or leave.

00:11:05.440 These are ultimatums.

00:11:06.480 What do you think is going to happen?

00:11:07.760 Is the safety of our communities, the safety of our cities that have seen, by the way, absolutely exploding homicide rates go up since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

00:11:20.520 You are going to see absolute chaos like you've never seen before in America's major cities.

00:11:26.400 And it's as simple as that.

00:11:27.680 So people come up to me.

00:11:28.680 They come up to me at events.

00:11:30.280 When I was out in Florida last, it was at Ave Maria.

00:11:32.560 Some folks came up to me after church there, and they said, hey, we follow you.

00:11:37.080 You always say get out of cities.

00:11:38.280 What do you mean?

00:11:38.580 I say get out of cities.

00:11:40.360 If you are in a large area that has crime, it is going to explode.

00:11:46.100 We're seeing carjackings.

00:11:47.740 D.C. just had an actual bank robbery, like guns drawn, masks on, bank robbery.

00:11:53.240 And, of course, they're all just kind of explaining it away.

00:11:55.880 Be smart.

00:11:56.920 Get out of cities.

00:11:57.560 Now, we talk a lot about the decline of our military, the readiness of our military on this show.

00:12:10.240 We're not going to shy away from that.

00:12:11.680 I'm a veteran.

00:12:12.620 I have friends with people who are still serving, active, reserve, etc.

00:12:17.000 This is one of the most important things going on in the country.

00:12:19.240 It's probably the most important thing going on in the country today.

00:12:22.460 But we don't talk about it.

00:12:23.740 The media doesn't want to focus on it, and that's suicides in the military.

00:12:27.520 And The Federalist has this, the headline out of a new Pentagon report.

00:12:32.400 Suicide killed more than twice as many U.S. soldiers in three months, just the last three months,

00:12:39.440 than COVID has since the pandemic began.

00:12:42.640 And I want to be clear, by the way, actually, this is just talking about April to the end of June in 2021.

00:12:48.860 That means that this huge surge in military, right, in military suicides does not even include the events of the Afghanistan withdrawal

00:13:02.720 and the shocking humiliation of the United States on the world stage.

00:13:08.000 When those numbers roll out for Q3, we're going to report them the same way we always have.

00:13:13.840 Here's General Milley talking about this.

00:13:16.200 This year, America's armed forces, along with the rest of the nation,

00:13:20.960 observed Suicide Prevention Month to raise awareness about the significant health crisis.

00:13:25.760 Suicide affects all Americans. 0.63

00:13:27.920 It's the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.

00:13:31.360 National data shows that suicide is on the rise in young adults ages 18 to 25.

00:13:37.660 And every loss to suicide is a horrible human tragedy.

00:13:41.440 Whether it's our teammate, a family member, or a friend.

00:13:46.200 Whether you serve in the active or reserve components, have recently transitioned out of the military,

00:13:52.440 or you are a family member or someone who serves for our country, we are all strong and resilient.

00:13:58.740 But we are not immune.

00:14:02.460 We are not immune from life's challenges.

00:14:05.300 Across the military, at all levels of leadership, our commitment to each other is unwavering.

00:14:10.420 And it takes all of us to prevent suicide.

00:14:13.200 Now, here's what I don't get, right?

00:14:14.420 Here's what I don't get.

00:14:15.840 This many people are dying from suicide.

00:14:19.120 It is twice as many in three months than the entire COVID-19 pandemic.

00:14:27.580 COVID-19 is real.

00:14:29.240 It came from Wuhan.

00:14:30.400 But this suicide epidemic is so much more deadly to the military, to military communities.

00:14:38.500 And yet, what is the military and the government putting their focus on?

00:14:42.120 They're putting all their focus on COVID.

00:14:45.380 And, you know, Milley puts out his little press statements.

00:14:50.020 He does his videos.

00:14:51.380 He presides over our complete humiliation in Afghanistan. 0.99

00:14:54.900 He sits there and says he cares so much.

00:14:57.880 No.

00:14:59.140 We know what it's like when the military and the government want somebody.

00:15:03.680 We know what it was like when they went after Julian Assange.

00:15:05.720 We know what that looked like.

00:15:06.520 They throw the book at it.

00:15:08.500 We know what it looks like when they're going after COVID.

00:15:10.660 They lock down and shut down everything, force people to take the vaccination.

00:15:15.080 Et cetera, et cetera.

00:15:17.140 Why aren't they taking the military suicides seriously?

00:15:21.360 Why aren't they doing this?

00:15:22.700 If you're someone who signs up to serve in the U.S. Army, you're writing a blank check up

00:15:27.580 to and including the ultimate sacrifice of your life for your country.

00:15:32.580 The least the country could do, the least they could do, is address what's going on.

00:15:39.580 And don't get me wrong.

00:15:40.220 There's programs out there, but they're not working.

00:15:43.840 None of it is working.

00:15:44.880 You would not see these spikes in suicide.

00:15:47.080 You would not see this atrocious level of carnage and death.

00:15:51.520 Think of the families.

00:15:53.120 Think that you already have a family.

00:15:54.400 When you're in a military family, that means the spouse, the kids, that means bye-bye.

00:15:59.580 You're not going to see your soldier, right?

00:16:02.060 Because they're going to be gone.

00:16:03.200 Are they going to be in six months, nine months, 18 months, whatever it is.

00:16:06.520 If you're in the Navy, you're going on deployment.

00:16:08.880 But we care so much about the families.

00:16:10.620 Well, now the deployment screwed them up, so they're coming back, PTSD, treating it with

00:16:18.460 alcohol, self-medicating, all the various problems that it gets run into, and it eventually

00:16:24.500 devolves into suicide.

00:16:27.920 I think there are some great people that are fighting this from the veteran front, and I

00:16:32.100 absolutely applaud them and support them.

00:16:33.680 And if anybody wants to reach out to the show, we'll do everything we can.

00:16:38.300 We'll do everything we can to support their efforts.

00:16:40.620 But the military, the Pentagon, Millie, you are not taking this seriously.

00:16:45.180 You are having soldiers die on your watch, and you're not doing anything about it.

00:16:50.300 You're too worried about forcing people to take this vaccine and kicking them out of

00:16:54.080 the military than you are about doing the right thing for your people.

00:17:02.120 It's time for an update on the Boston bombing case.

00:17:05.120 Now, this is something that I've been following very closely since April of 2013 because, as

00:17:09.400 I said before publicly, I did have a family member who was wounded in the attack, a double 1.00

00:17:16.600 amputee.

00:17:17.640 And so looking at this, obviously, it's been a huge story, one that hasn't always been

00:17:22.960 on the headlines or in the headlines as much as it should be, but something that I think

00:17:26.940 everyone, every American really needs to take seriously, especially because of the fact that

00:17:30.640 the FBI knew about both of these brothers, the older brother was able to travel somehow

00:17:35.680 to Dagestan and back without a passport while on a watch list, while the Russians had warned

00:17:40.740 us of the situation, had warned us the radicalization.

00:17:43.500 But for some reason, he was able to travel back and forth from a, you know, obviously a very

00:17:49.840 tense area, an area that's seen a lot of terrorist groups, Chechnya, and able to come back without 0.90

00:17:55.540 without flagging anyone.

00:17:57.300 Why did the FBI allow them to do that?

00:17:59.020 Very interesting.

00:17:59.560 Very interesting.

00:18:00.720 We also know that the FBI did discuss with them becoming informants.

00:18:05.020 So, see what's going on with that.

00:18:06.580 Now, the older brother, of course, Tamerlan Zarnaev, was killed in the escape from the

00:18:12.840 Boston bombing, the huge, really, police manhunt that went out for them.

00:18:16.760 But the younger brother was taken alive.

00:18:19.280 So, the younger brother was put on trial.

00:18:21.120 He was sentenced to death by a federal jury.

00:18:23.540 However, the death sentence was taken off.

00:18:26.560 Remember, of course, the younger brother, he's the one who placed a pressure cooker

00:18:30.040 bomb in front of an eight-year-old boy, killing him instantly.

00:18:33.620 So, the death penalty was taken off because they believed that there were problems with

00:18:38.600 the way that the court ran the death penalty phase of that trial.

00:18:42.560 And there's a chance that that should be redone.

00:18:45.980 There were also hearing, by the way, from some of the Supreme Court watchers, this is going

00:18:49.040 all the way to the Supreme Court now.

00:18:50.360 And because of this, there's a chance, due to what's seen as the conservative majority

00:18:55.360 on the court, that that death penalty may actually be placed back on.

00:19:00.720 So, Amy Coney Barrett was doing questioning recently.

00:19:03.680 Kavanaugh was doing questioning.

00:19:04.680 But listen to this.

00:19:05.420 This is very interesting audio that came from the Supreme Court in oral questioning, where

00:19:09.580 you actually have a case that this does not happen.

00:19:12.180 This is super rare.

00:19:13.020 Where Kagan and Kavanaugh actually start debating.

00:19:17.020 She cuts him off while he's asking a question to the government prosecutor about what's going

00:19:22.320 on.

00:19:22.860 She cuts him off and interjects. 0.99

00:19:24.620 And it's not, okay, it's not as spicy as something that you might hear in the Senate,

00:19:29.200 certainly not in the House, and definitely not when TP Live holds debate night.

00:19:33.600 But for the Supreme Court, this is a huge, huge breach of decorum.

00:19:37.720 It's not something that you hear up there.

00:19:39.520 And so, listen to what Elena Kagan did when she cut off Kavanaugh. 0.82

00:19:43.180 I just want to make sure the premise, I mean, the premise was assumed away.

00:19:47.300 The premise was assumed away because that's the role of the jury.

00:19:51.360 Well, I think it's important to discuss the district court's reasoning.

00:19:55.260 And the district court said, we don't know what happened.

00:19:59.120 And the district court, I mean, maybe to answer Justice Kagan's question, does the district

00:20:04.380 court have a gatekeeping role here or not? 0.99

00:20:07.660 And maybe that's Justice Alito's question, too.

00:20:09.820 Now, of course, the liberal justices are starting to say that the original court erred in excluding

00:20:15.320 evidence.

00:20:16.480 But essentially what's going on is, was that mitigating evidence anything that would change

00:20:22.080 the situation?

00:20:22.860 Again, like I said, Joe Garzanayev, the younger brother, knew what he was doing when he placed

00:20:28.760 a pressure cooker bomb in front of an eight-year-old boy at the start-finish line of the Boston

00:20:34.220 Marathon and blew him up, killing him instantaneously.

00:20:38.800 Now, regardless of what your views are on the death penalty, we do have a federal death

00:20:43.540 penalty, even though, of course, Biden has said he's not going to enforce it.

00:20:46.920 But if we have a death penalty, this is the exact kind of case that you want to implement 0.98

00:20:52.780 it for.

00:20:53.340 Someone who is unrepentant and someone who brutally killed a child.

00:20:57.800 That's all the time we have for today on HEDL.

00:21:00.280 I want to thank you so much again for watching.

00:21:02.720 But before I go, remind everyone, share this out with your normie friends.

00:21:12.140 It actually helps us out so much.

00:21:13.400 Our motto, of course, be good, be brief, be gone.

00:21:16.360 Support us so we can continue making this content for you.

00:21:19.800 But before I go, it's time for today's moment in history.

00:21:25.480 October 15th, all the way back, all the way back, 1583 is the date that the Gregorian calendar,

00:21:34.660 Pope Gregory instituted it, and it was actually adopted by Italy, Spain, and Poland.

00:21:40.640 So believe it or not, the calendar that everyone uses today, most widely used today, comes all

00:21:46.260 the way back from Pope Gregory issuing that calendar so many, almost 500 years ago.

00:21:52.120 Absolutely incredible.

00:21:53.360 Ladies and gentlemen, as always, you have my permission to lay ashore.
