Trump signs the Lakin Riley Act, which allows the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to hold and deport non-U.S. citizens who are charged with crimes and sue the government when charged of crimes due to immigration laws that were not upheld.
00:01:14.420The illegal aliens he brought in from Venezuela, from Haiti, from Nicaragua, they are not doing farm work.
00:01:20.540They are in our cities collecting welfare.
00:01:22.060As for the farmers, there is a guest worker program that President Trump supports.
00:01:27.140Over time as well, we will transition into automation, so we'll never have to have this conversation ever again.
00:01:33.020But there's no universe in which this nation is going to allow the previous president to flood our nation with millions and millions of illegal aliens who just get to stay here.
00:01:42.500And we are especially not going to allow a subset of those illegal aliens to rape and murder our citizens.
00:01:48.280It's been almost a year since Lakin Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was murdered by 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra.
00:01:56.160President Trump will sign the Lakin Riley Act into law, which allows the DHA to hold and deport non-U.S. citizens when charged of crimes
00:02:05.340and sue the government due to immigration laws that were not upheld.
00:02:09.440We need to figure out ways to improve care, particularly for elderly, for veterans, for the poor in this country.
00:02:18.640And Medicaid, the current model, is not doing that.
00:02:21.300I would ask, you know, any of the Democrats who are chuckling just now,
00:02:25.980do you think all that money, the $900 billion that we're sending to Medicaid every year, has made Americans healthy?
00:12:18.680Just letting this play out, looks like a lot of people from the state of Georgia, obviously, the Georgia delegation, as far as the Republican Congress, everyone on board.
00:12:41.700And that's basically it had bipartisan support for this bill.
00:12:44.960But, Jack, as you know, there were some that simply could not get on the support of this act.
00:15:26.700And I've also taken strong action to regain control of the Washington bureaucracy.
00:15:32.200Just for clarification purposes, because it was incorrectly reported yesterday, we have informed the federal workforce, which they've looked to do for many years,
00:15:42.900that if they're working for the federal government, they must show up to the office on time and on schedule.
00:16:21.860If they don't agree by February 6th to show up back to work in their office, they will be terminated.
00:16:28.760And we will, therefore, be downscaling our government, which is something that the last 10 presidents have tried very hard to do but failed.
00:16:38.240Most of the people we're talking about have not been going to their federal offices in many, many years from even before COVID.
00:18:15.560If you think about it, I announced in 2015, and we won in 2016.
00:18:22.100We did very well in 2020, but we did really well just recently.
00:18:26.920And I'm restating right now to correct any confusion that the media has purposely and somehow, for whatever reason, created Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid,
00:18:37.320have not been affected by any action we're taking in any way, shape, or form.
00:18:41.760We are merely looking at parts of the big bureaucracy where there has been tremendous waste and fraud and abuse.
00:18:51.640In that process, we identified and stopped $50 million being sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas.
00:19:10.280We stopped an attempt to make an illicit payment for illegal alien resettlement.
00:19:16.680We canceled $181 million in DEI training contracts.
00:19:21.620This is just for the training of people in DEI, which has been terminated and completely terminated.
00:19:27.680And we paused $1.7 billion in unauthorized payments to foreign organizations, including stopping more than $40 million that was on its way out the door to the very corrupt world, health organization,
00:19:43.680which has not done its job and not done it properly.
00:19:47.140We also blocked $45 million for diversity scholarships in Burma.
00:19:59.600$45 million, that's a lot of money for diversity scholarships in Burma.
00:20:05.100You can imagine where that money went.
00:20:07.140These were the types of payments, and many others.
00:20:10.860I could stand here all day and tell you things that we've found.
00:20:13.880And we have to find them quickly because we want the money to flow to proper places.
00:20:18.040But these were the payments and types of payments affected by the temporary freeze, and the American people strongly support these efforts.
00:20:25.320I talked about it during the campaign, and they voted for us in record numbers.
00:20:29.820Every single day, we're now putting America first and fighting to get the most out of every single tax dollar for our great citizens.
00:20:39.980We've gathered this afternoon to take another historic action.
00:20:46.020However, in a few moments, the Lakin-Riley Act will become the very first bill that I proudly sign into law as the 47th President of the United States.
00:20:59.820Lakin was a brilliant and beautiful 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia, the best in her class.
00:21:38.120To her friends and classmates, she was a light of warmth and kindness in every single room.
00:21:44.100To her parents and family, she was everything in the world.
00:21:48.380They've had a miserable period of time.
00:21:51.360Just after 9 a.m. last February 22nd, Lakin went out for a jog on the campus of the University of Georgia, but she was just never returned.
00:22:09.480While on her run, Lakin was attacked, viciously assaulted, beaten, brutalized, and murdered by an illegal alien gang member who was set loose into our country by the last administration.
00:22:22.400We are deeply honored to be joined today by Lakin's parents, Allison and John, and her sister, Lauren.
00:23:18.420America will never, ever forget Lakin Hope Riley.
00:23:22.480The vicious criminal who murdered Precious Lakin was an illegal alien member of the barbaric Venezuelan prison gang known as Trendy Aragua.
00:23:32.740He trespassed across our southern border in 2022 and was apprehended by Border Patrol, but under the cruel policies of the last administration, instead of being deported, as he should have been, he was released into the United States, as were millions of other people, many of them very dangerous people.
00:23:56.680And you see what we're doing, we're getting the hell out of here.
00:24:07.680He was soon arrested again in New York City on charges of endangering a child, but because of New York City's deadly sanctuary policies, as we have in California and many other places, which we're ending, we're going to end there.
00:24:23.200He was released again to reoffend the Biden administration, then provided this illegal alien criminal with a free taxpayer funded flight from New York to Georgia, where he was arrested yet again, constantly, this time for stealing from a Walmart, along with his gang member brother, who was a bad one.
00:24:44.320Only after being released a third time by the U.S. law enforcement did this cold-blooded criminal go out on that fateful morning, hunting for women on whom to pray.
00:25:22.160Under the law, I'm signing today, the Department of Homeland Security will be required to detain all illegal aliens who have been arrested for theft, burglary, larceny, shoplifting, assaulting a police officer, murder,
00:25:37.760or any crime that results in death or serious injury.
00:25:41.560In addition, for the first time ever, this act gives state governments the ability to sue the federal government for immediate injunctive relief.
00:25:49.660If any future administration ever again refuses to enforce the immigration laws of the United States, like happened for four long years.
00:25:59.520And that was happening for four long years, frightful years.
00:26:44.280It's a landmark law that we're doing today.
00:26:46.800It's going to save countless innocent American lives.
00:26:51.000I want to thank every House Republican, every Senate Republican, as well as the 12 Senate Democrats and the 48 House Democrats who voted to pass this vitally important bill.
00:34:13.960It's the toughest thing anybody has to go through.
00:34:15.880Many of the angel families here today were betrayed by the last administration with this heartless
00:34:23.640and foolish and really very, very arrogant and very, very dumb policies.
00:34:31.480policies that aren't even believable when you talk about common sense.
00:34:36.300I say we're the party of common sense, but the Democrats also, they have plenty of common sense, and that's why so many are here today and so many supported what we're doing.
00:34:45.460The very government that was supposed to protect their daughters instead opened our borders and transported the world's most dangerous criminals straight into their communities.
00:34:55.020They came from prisons and jails and insane asylums and mental institutions from all over the world, not just South America.
00:35:06.380They come from every continent, and they came here by plane, and they were loaded onto buses, and they were driven right up to our border, and they drove right through the border, and nobody even said a word to them.
00:35:18.460And in those buses and those cars and those trucks were some of the meanest criminals anywhere in the world.
00:35:23.820As of last September, 425,000 illegal alien criminals were roaming free, including 13,099 convicted illegal alien murderers, of which about almost 50% killed more than one person, and they were roaming all over the country, in our farms, in our cities.
00:35:43.660Under the Trump administration, we're moving with urgency and speed to get these vicious and violent criminals the hell out of our country,
00:35:51.160and to restore law and order to our suburbs, our cities, and our towns.
00:35:55.240And we're going to do it with Tom and with Christie and with all of the people that are working so hard on this.
00:36:00.940This week, compared to a comparable time a year ago, think of this.
00:36:05.480The number of illegal border crossers has already fallen by more than 100%.
00:36:09.860And because the election was coming, they started getting a little bit tougher on the border.
00:36:15.980They tried to follow our policies, and they did much better, but it still was horrible.
00:42:20.940We trust that he will fight for the American people.
00:42:23.120Most importantly, I want to thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because without his sacrifices, Lakin's story would have ended on that horrific day that she was taken from us.
00:42:37.600But because of him, we can continue living, knowing that we will see Lakin again.
00:42:41.660There's no amount of change that will ever bring back our precious Lakin, our hope moving forward, is that her life saves lives.
00:42:55.800We're so thankful that her passion for helping others and her legacy for doing good in the name of Jesus Christ will carry on.
00:47:02.660Incredible ceremony, very tearful response, of course, from Lake and Riley's family, her mother giving the remark on her daughter's passing, but also on the fact that this passing can be used to potentially and likely will,
00:47:32.660and hopefully no family is going through.
00:47:34.660And hopefully, no family ever does again.
00:47:37.540Now, we know that this is the real world, and that's not how that works.
00:47:42.020But at the same time, here you have a situation where those families are brought in.
00:47:57.940Yeah, Jack, we all just witnessed the gravity of this whole situation, how President Trump has, not only President Trump, I should say, the entire country has been really affected by what has happened in this with all of the illegal crime and things like that.
00:48:20.520But it's, you know, proud to say that this president has stood next to his campaign promise to basically put this Lake and Riley bill into effect.
00:48:32.900The room, as we later found out, Jack, was attended by not only several Georgia congressmen, but also Christy Noem, Department of Homeland Security, Vice President J.D. Vance, and others, and a few of the angel moms or angel families in attendance.
00:48:52.740And, Jack, I've got to say this country is a lot better off now.
00:49:00.100He is in his classic hoodie and shorts.
00:49:04.400Glad he could dress up for the occasion, Jack.
00:49:07.540But this is, you know, met with bipartisan support, which is good to see on such a serious issue in this country, Jack.
00:49:17.680Well, it was an incredibly serious issue.
00:49:19.700Also, Brian, a huge news there from President Trump breaking essentially the story himself that he's going to be signing an executive order regarding Guantanamo Bay.
00:49:30.100It was a 30,000-bed facility opening up.
00:49:33.320Guantanamo was a place where I served at for about a year while I was there working with the detainees deployed down to Gitmo.
00:49:51.740George H.W. Bush used to use it for the Haitians.
00:49:54.480It's been used for Cubans in the past.
00:49:56.320So that really just goes to show that this administration is firing on all cylinders regarding the issue of the illegal alien invasion of our country.
00:50:04.860You're right, and it's nice that he is going to open up that facility.
00:50:11.820And, you know, I like the way he really explained the process in terms of what happened with the president of Colombia
00:50:21.160and the way they did not want to inconvenience the president of transporting those prisoners, those detainees, back to Colombia.
00:50:31.120Rather, they sent one of their planes to do it.
00:50:34.680But that does show the amount of respect that the world has for President Trump in regards to this topic alone.
00:50:43.400And I think, Jack, this would only translate into other topics financially, you know, foreign policy issues.
00:50:53.340President Trump, you know, we've known this, that he is the leader of the free world.
00:50:59.220And I would say whenever, regardless of what the policy is, Jack, if he says this is what needs to happen, that's going to happen.
00:51:08.960And I think this is just an example of it.
00:51:11.380But, Jack, what a wonderful day here in the East Room to see this very important bill come to life.
00:51:18.480Well, and really just an incredible sea change from a year ago when, you know, these angel mothers and I certainly don't recall ever hearing Joe Biden ever highlight any of these.
00:51:33.080You've got the family of Rachel Moran there, the family of Jocelyn Ungari there, so many others, in addition, of course, to the family of Lake and Riley, for whom the act is named.
00:51:44.500But President Trump taking these people and inviting them to be there for folks who understand how the White House works or understand how just the sheer logistics of getting all that people together in one room is a feat in and of itself.
00:52:00.280And, of course, President Trump working diligently to actually bring them all in.
00:52:04.440And, Brian, it's kind of amazing to think that President Trump has only actually been in office for nine days.
00:52:14.080I didn't think of what you and I have been covering for the last nine days.
00:52:20.180And I've heard a lot of people in the briefing room just kind of hearing conversations that this is the most press that some of these people have seen in such a long time.
00:52:32.240I mean, some people that have been here at the White House for 10, 15 years said they never have seen outside of the Trump presidency as much media, as much focus on everyday press briefings, as much focus on having someone like Carolyn Leavitt walked by the Pebble Beach here in front of the White House several times, stopped to take questions.
00:52:54.880So did several other key administrative figures.
00:53:00.180And I think that's what you and I, to your point, you feel like there's been so much because they've been communicating what they're doing versus the last administration.
00:53:09.640That's a good shot what you're looking at right now.
00:53:11.560That is pretty much a lot of the Georgia delegation.
00:53:15.560It's missing a few people on here, but that's who really got behind this from day one and Congressman Mike Collins looking at him and Brian Jack as well.
00:53:28.060They have been key people in all of this.
00:53:31.680Marjorie Taylor Greene being another one has been just putting the spotlight on this problem.
00:53:38.220And as President Trump said several times, Jack, this is something that he doesn't want to have to do.
00:53:43.180But at this point, this is what he has done to make this country safer.
00:53:49.480We just about got a minute left here in the show.
00:53:51.620So, Brian, thank you so much for covering this historic event for us here at the East Room of the White House.
00:53:56.600Folks, and OK, that's the end of that ceremony, but that's not the end of the fireworks because President Trump has so much more to do.
00:54:06.020Also, RFK, we saw that incredible or just round robin discussion that he had, sparks flying between himself, Elizabeth Warren, a number of the other senators in there.
00:54:17.480You can really see who's taking the Pfizer bucks.
00:54:30.840Tomorrow will be the Health Committee.
00:54:32.800We've also got Cash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard.
00:54:36.480So tomorrow morning, it goes, there are going to be all three of them basically simultaneously from 930 on RFK, Tulsi Gabbard, Cash Patel, Senator Kaye Loeffler.
00:54:47.560It goes later today at 3.30 p.m., just about a half hour's time there before Senate Small Business.
