00:00:00.000 Hey, what's up? I'm Tony Gonzalez.
00:00:01.540 And I'm October Gonzalez.
00:00:02.940 But you can call me Toby.
00:00:04.000 We want you to join us on our new podcast,
00:00:06.660 No Safe Words with October and Tony Gonzalez.
00:00:08.960 Where we get real about marriage, parenthood, sex, divorce,
00:00:12.520 and all the nitty gritty stuff we all think about.
00:00:14.980 But just don't say it out loud.
00:00:16.060 You're probably just going to be some rich guy
00:00:17.460 and he's going to whisk you away.
00:00:19.740 This is awkward.
00:00:20.840 Listen to No Safe Words with October and Tony Gonzalez
00:00:23.640 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast,
00:00:26.580 or wherever you get your podcasts. 0.74
00:00:28.460 If you think being gay is a choice, why would a gay person choose a lifestyle that is probably much unnecessarily harder than just being heterosexual? 0.93
00:00:40.980 Well, think outside.
00:00:42.000 Because of judgment and being shunned and potentially mocked or made fun of.
00:00:46.680 Okay, like let me ask you this question.
00:00:48.400 Like all the bad decisions that you've made in the past, like why did you choose to do them even if you knew that there would be repercussions coming?
00:00:53.860 I've not made a single bad decision in my entire life.
00:00:58.460 do you like around like like tomfoolery real hooligans dude if i if i'm being completely
00:01:11.060 honest i have this guilty pleasure that i like sometimes get convicted of okay i cheese cars
00:01:16.380 sometimes what is this you know the like square slices of cheese does it take the pain off no it
00:01:22.040 doesn't it's biodegradable because if you use meats if you salami it takes this pain here's
00:01:27.540 here's the problem here's why i feel guilty is like sometimes like it's at night time and you're
00:01:32.600 like looking and you're just like am i gonna hit a car that has like a you know really sweet person
00:01:36.680 in it how do you are the cars moving like so you you you depending on yes they are so like you just
00:01:43.580 like you find the car and then i feel i i started getting convicted about it recently because
00:01:48.460 if you hit a windshield like you're like oh turn on the windshield wipers but it smears the cheese
00:01:53.840 it doesn't take it off and i just like felt really guilty because i thought like oh this is
00:01:57.540 innocent it's a fun way and uh is that like a logical evolution from snowballs like what do
00:02:05.700 you think's worse because i remember i we used to get in trouble by our parents for throwing
00:02:10.100 snowballs at cars because somebody could potentially swerve off the road and crash
00:02:14.740 but would the same happen with cheese and follow-up question have you ever considered
00:02:19.300 cheesing babies you know um because a big trend big trend yeah no I haven't I haven't you know
00:02:25.600 thought about cheesing a baby I think it's just more like I'm 22 and I'm trying to figure out
00:02:30.040 like is this the right thing to do yeah yeah basically you know it's like it's like instead
00:02:34.100 of instead of smoking weed I'm like choosing like am I gonna cheese a car or not yeah I've
00:02:38.440 started to get convicted and I'm like yeah I think I'm gonna retire what do you start saying
00:02:42.820 convicted what do you mean by like okay so you know um like uh you know you have a behavior
00:02:48.460 and you're like you're sitting against God or you feel like that you're doing something you
00:02:53.140 shouldn't be doing like the conviction is like oh that feeling I probably shouldn't be doing what
00:02:57.140 I'm doing right it's good that you feel that that instinct's probably telling you something yeah if
00:03:01.560 I wasn't feeling that there would be a really big problem a lot of people don't there's a lot of
00:03:05.260 people out there who are unaware of what they're that what they're doing is wrong it's a you know
00:03:09.720 what I'm saying it's not that conviction doesn't exist in every person in the world right yeah for
00:03:13.580 sure that you know especially like if someone's not a Christian and you know I think something's
00:03:17.840 sin and they don't, like, I don't necessarily expect that burden on, you know, someone to feel
00:03:22.100 the same convictions that I do. But if you point someone to Jesus, maybe they, you know, develop
00:03:27.220 convictions about certain things. Are you asking God for forgiveness for the cheesing? I actually
00:03:33.560 have. Yeah. Yeah. Under what statue? And then I, and then I did it again, which was the bad part.
00:03:38.880 It was like the duality of man. It was like, I had this, for some reason, the, uh, cheesing thing,
00:03:43.960 it was like a it was like a itch I had to scratch you know what I mean and it was like there this is
00:03:48.260 so good before I was a Christian before I was a Christian I used to like do prank videos like I
00:03:52.820 lit my neighbor's lawn on fire and I was like you know stuff like that like so I just like I think
00:03:57.400 there's like that part of me it's like the green goblin mask from spider-man and it like speaks to
00:04:01.860 you that's the cheesing the cars thing that like speaks to me and uh yeah it's something I'm working
00:04:08.200 through right now yeah dude dude it's your it's your human experience yes they have so they don't
00:04:12.920 of support groups or something like that i'm looking for one i mean in the grand scheme of
00:04:18.360 things with all the other things you could be doing if that's your outlet that's pretty chill
00:04:22.460 yeah yeah i mean i definitely think of the grand scheme of things there's there's probably worse
00:04:26.580 things that i could be doing is that is that the worst thing you think currently that i'm struggling
00:04:31.040 with now yeah yeah for sure for sure but like uh stop yeah you can't stop but that wasn't always
00:04:37.120 the case no no no i've i've done way worse things in my life before jesus and you know working on
00:04:42.720 but um we should probably we should probably intro guys guys today's guest is one of the
00:04:47.720 fastest growing faith-based creators on the internet he's built a massive following by
00:04:51.600 taking conversations about god and christianity to the streets sharing his faith with millions
00:04:55.960 and inspiring a new generation to get closer to god give it up for bryce crawford thank you
00:05:02.360 yeah you gotta i noticed that chris come on we've been friends for four years dude clap it up back
00:05:08.360 there come on we usually have more people that that clap when we do that part give us a tiny
00:05:11.920 room yeah the podcast before this they gave us a tiny seat brother wow dude mike and i were
00:05:17.100 basically on top of each other well i'm i i mean i'm i got to meet mike a few weeks ago he was you
00:05:22.420 know very tall and you're tall as well and you know i don't know how you're fitting it you guys
00:05:26.000 gave me the bigger chair so thank you they these chairs are elevated i wanted to let you know this
00:05:30.660 isn't some sort of like uh humiliation ritual or something like that we just i could not sit next
00:05:36.100 to him on that like i had to have my arm around him the whole show not for not for this podcast
00:05:39.580 with you because i do feel like we're going to approach some serious topics and that will get
00:05:43.500 clipped and if mike and i are on top of each other it's just not going to be taken seriously
00:05:47.800 yeah i can uh i thought you were saying you didn't want to put your arm around me and i was
00:05:52.340 kind of offended no we can do it i just i just don't i want to have the option to do it does
00:05:58.100 that make sense yeah you like to keep you like to keep your options open i understand yeah yeah
00:06:01.700 for sure yeah you know what i'm also really cool with this distance as well too uh dude yeah so
00:06:07.380 the reason why I ask if you're a hooligan is just because, like, you know,
00:06:10.380 don't judge a book by its cover, but you got the car Crocs on.
00:06:14.980 Yeah, they light up, too.
00:06:16.020 They do light up.
00:06:17.180 Can you see it?
00:06:18.000 Wow.
00:06:18.440 Oh, I can see it.
00:06:19.720 Yeah, don't get jealous, but it's a sin.
00:06:22.440 Okay, don't get jealous.
00:06:23.700 I can get you a pair if you really want some.
00:06:25.140 I would like a pair.
00:06:25.940 Okay, I can get you some.
00:06:26.780 Lightning McQueen.
00:06:27.640 And then I saw the tattoos as well.
00:06:29.460 Yeah.
00:06:29.960 And getting tattoos is not a sin.
00:06:33.440 So when you look at the book of Leviticus,
00:06:35.900 there's three different types of law so you have like judicial law moral law then you have
00:06:41.120 ceremonial law so ceremonial law would fall under the category of like you can't wear a t-shirt of
00:06:45.320 mixed cloths you men can't have long hair women can't wear pants like so yeah i know you and me
00:06:50.640 are in we're in bad standing right now with the long hair so so the markings like contextual like
00:06:56.320 understanding context of scenarios back in that time period people were cutting themselves and
00:07:00.340 putting markings on their bodies thinking that bail would answer their prayers faster okay in
00:07:04.340 the 21st century you know that's not typically happening here in america uh and so i think the
00:07:10.280 question then becomes like can tattoos be sinful yeah if your heart posture is like oh if i get
00:07:16.340 this tattoo it's going to fulfill my heart or maybe i can get this person to like me or i'm
00:07:20.620 trying to look sexy and it's like then okay then the heart behind getting the tattoo would be
00:07:25.460 intention matters yeah intention matters how about the uh content or the substance of what the tattoo
00:07:31.240 says i think that's important like for me like yeah i'm covered in tattoos but you wouldn't see
00:07:35.560 like a naked mermaid on my body you know what i mean because i think that's like that's being wise
00:07:40.880 i'm not going to get a naked mermaid tattooed on my body but i think like is getting the super
00:07:45.600 mario mushroom tattooed on your bicep is that a sin i would say most likely not but i would ask
00:07:52.200 like why are you getting that tattoo let's do the exercise okay i have a i have a tattoo is my tattoo
00:07:58.920 a sin what what's your tattoo it's a squirtle with sunglasses and a little band-aid on his knee
00:08:04.480 okay yeah i would say no like my first ever tattoo was the peanut butter jelly time banana
00:08:09.120 the like cartoon banana yeah yeah so i see a couple swords that are that's across that's a
00:08:15.280 sword yeah yeah i gotta like a like a sword here and is that could the sword in any way
00:08:20.360 be perceived as like weaponry and negatively so like the reason that i got the sword is there's
00:08:25.220 just like really small verse in the Bible where King David had these mighty men. So they were
00:08:30.280 essentially, you know, like the secret service for King David and the, his best guy was named
00:08:35.920 Eleazar. So that was like your Neil was King David's Eleazar. Right. And, uh, and so he has
00:08:42.100 this thing where they're running from an army of Philistines. Eleazar turns around, kills the
00:08:46.780 entire army by himself, a thousand dudes. And it said one verse that there was so much blood on his
00:08:52.200 sword that the sword was stuck to his hand and for me like this little cartoon sword is a reminder
00:08:58.480 for me knowing that like no matter what I face I have so much blood on my sword going into battle
00:09:03.760 with Christ like for me that's what that means so someone can interpret it one way like oh this
00:09:07.460 dude's got a knife on his body but for me like when I'm looking down at my arm I'm like wow like
00:09:11.380 I have Christ by my side it may sound silly but for me that's just like that's just how I view it
00:09:16.040 and it encourages me yeah no I'm I'm hearing you I really admire um the content you make and your
00:09:21.200 mindset on all of it oh thank you yeah it's cool um so we had the we had uh stewart and cliff
00:09:25.400 connectly on this podcast it was one of my favorite episodes i really like those guys
00:09:29.000 especially because i think people know that uh publicly like my relationship with god has like
00:09:36.720 varied and i'm fluid it's been it's been fluid that's that's that's a good that's a good way to
00:09:41.560 put it um right now my spirituality is really strong my relationship with god is really really
00:09:45.420 good and i do like having conversations with people who are so versed in it because it opens
00:09:50.500 up a really interesting dialogue that people can listen to and input uh their opinions on and i'm
00:09:56.160 really impressed by your ability to recite parts of the bible like you clearly are like a like a
00:10:03.000 smart person in that you're able to like remember and recall examples from the bible to prove a
00:10:10.460 point that you're saying so before we even get into all this how are you remembering all of this
00:10:15.900 stuff from the Bible? Like, how does it actually stick in your mind when you read it? Um, so when
00:10:22.580 I was, I went to a private Christian school. So when I became a Christian, like I had learned,
00:10:27.400 I grew up in church and I went to private Christian schools. There's like, you know,
00:10:29.900 typical verses, maybe even non-Christians would know like, you know, John 3, 16 or whatever that
00:10:34.920 I just kind of knew already. Um, I typically had a good memory. So I would say like that plays in
00:10:39.620 my favor, but in high school specifically, like my senior year, we had to memorize the, like the
00:10:45.660 whole book of Jude in a semester, which is just one chapter, like sounds intimidating. And then
00:10:49.800 we had to memorize the whole chat, like chapter 12 of the book of Romans. And so just like learning
00:10:54.740 those skills, but I guess too, it's kind of like, you know, you have an impactful moment in your
00:10:59.720 life and you just remember that moment for the rest of your life. And then you see something
00:11:03.520 that triggers it for you in the same way. Like when I read the Bible, I'm kind of like asking God
00:11:08.800 to, to number one, teach me what's going on. But second, like, let me feel what they're feeling in
00:11:13.940 the moment like when Thomas is doubting if Jesus has resurrected like I want to understand what
00:11:18.620 that feels like because I'm a human and I have doubts so like let me like feel and know what
00:11:22.720 Thomas feels like and oh when Thomas puts the fingers in the wounds of Jesus and he's like oh
00:11:27.320 now you're the Christ like I may look at that as silly but I do that to God sometimes and so
00:11:31.720 when I kind of just relate it to my own life it just helps me remember it you know and I also
00:11:38.080 just think I'd be doing a poor job if I was like preaching about Jesus and didn't know the Bible
00:11:41.680 No, it's really important.
00:11:43.500 I think, honestly, partially the reason that you're successful in this space at such a young age.
00:11:49.940 Can I drink this?
00:11:50.640 Of course, bro.
00:11:51.200 Drink the Prime.
00:11:52.420 Thank you.
00:11:54.240 Yeah, you are like citing a source.
00:11:58.520 It is an example that makes sense, that it has been logged throughout history.
00:12:05.960 And so it's like, it's cool.
00:12:07.460 I like when you do it.
00:12:08.880 Like you're, you're, you're pulling examples of what you're trying to prove.
00:12:11.680 I think it'd be really bad if I was like looking at you and trying to tell you how to live
00:12:14.900 your life.
00:12:15.320 And then I had just like, had no reason to tell you to live your life.
00:12:18.320 I just always had a problem with that.
00:12:19.580 I saw a ton of hypocrisy growing up and I was just like, you guys are telling me to
00:12:23.020 live my life one way.
00:12:24.360 Like, you know, people at my church or teachers and I'd see them drunk at a restaurant on
00:12:28.680 a Friday night, like after our school football game.
00:12:30.500 And I'd be like, dude, why are you telling me how to live my life?
00:12:32.820 We are so excited for NFL games to be back, which is why I want to give the sponsor of

00:13:22.580 Back to the show.
00:13:23.560 Can I tell you why I like you?
00:13:25.460 Sure.
00:13:25.860 Well, I think that you embody that forgiveness
00:13:28.920 in your discussions.
00:13:30.480 I think that you're not a judgmental person.
00:13:34.300 I think that you embody the Christian religion very well.
00:13:37.380 Setting the table here, as you know from the show that we did last week,
00:13:40.580 I'm a Christian myself, practicing every day being a better Christian
00:13:43.540 and trying to align myself more with, you know, his desires for us and his word.
00:13:48.140 I'm pretty bad at it sometimes, but I like to believe that I'm getting better every day,
00:13:54.100 which I guess is all you can ask for.
00:13:57.600 And that would be my core compliment to you, you know,
00:14:01.840 It's just how you deliver the word.
00:14:03.980 It's in a way that people can comprehend.
00:14:06.280 It's digestible.
00:14:06.980 It's digestible.
00:14:08.160 Thanks, guys.
00:14:08.900 Actually, it leads me into a question.
00:14:10.100 I mean, I didn't know that this was going to be like a whole encouragement session.
00:14:13.220 We're going down.
00:14:14.340 We're glazing.
00:14:14.840 I mean, thanks.
00:14:16.120 You know, I appreciate it.
00:14:17.040 I do have a question right off the bat.
00:14:19.280 um do you believe that the uh evolution of of societies and our species as it pertains to
00:14:29.300 societal changes uh affects the book at all is there is there is there room for uh the evolution
00:14:37.140 of interpretation and the the evolution of what sin is and how those things look based on how
00:14:42.920 society evolves over the years um so the beautiful thing about the bible is it's this transcendent
00:14:48.420 piece of literature. It's been written by 40 different authors from three continents over
00:14:52.460 the span of 1500 years. And it's this like cohesive leather bound book of 66 books that
00:14:58.780 all makes sense and that flows well. So when we're looking at society today, I would say,
00:15:04.820 no, I think that the root of every problem is the same. It's just that like manifests differently.
00:15:09.500 So like someone, you know, I remember like 15 years ago, TLC would be like my strange addiction
00:15:15.860 and someone would have like a romantic relationship with their car.
00:15:18.660 And we could like all laugh about it,
00:15:19.980 but today there's so many people with romantic relationships with AI partners.
00:15:22.940 So is it really that different?
00:15:24.320 No, the root's the same.
00:15:26.000 It just manifests in whatever generation it is.
00:15:28.720 The Bible would say in 1 Corinthians 10,
00:15:31.600 it says no temptation has overtaken you.
00:15:33.380 That's not common to man.
00:15:34.400 That just means Satan can't invent anything new.
00:15:36.460 He has no new tricks.
00:15:37.280 So the same stuff that we're being tempted with today,
00:15:40.320 he's been tempting people with for thousands of years.
00:15:43.180 It's not anything different.
00:15:44.720 the root problem's the same. And for me, like, I think that every sin issue is the root problem
00:15:50.280 is the same deep down. I think it's a love issue. I think everyone's on a quest for love and people
00:15:54.440 look for love in the bottle, in the pills, in the sex, in the money, in the busyness. People
00:15:59.180 distract themselves because they don't want to face problems. And it's all a love issue thinking
00:16:03.420 that, you know, blank thing's going to satisfy my soul. And whenever we're going to realize like
00:16:08.900 none of those things actually work, we need something or someone outside of ourselves to
00:16:13.620 save us and uh i think yeah i think that's important but yeah um see i always have been
00:16:20.040 and we can we can i would like to discuss this less concerned with what people do due to a lack
00:16:27.560 of sorry it's trying to i'm less concerned with what people do searching for love and how they
00:16:33.000 try to get that for themselves and i'm more concerned with what people put out when they
00:16:38.160 realize the lack of love they have in their lives and the hatred that they put out as a result of it
00:16:42.860 and I think you I think you see so much of it nowadays I think there's so much of it disguised
00:16:47.860 as criticism or opinion online and it's really just people who do not have love in their lives
00:16:54.560 whether it be from other people whether it be from themselves or whether it be from God and that
00:16:59.000 pushes people to act in very disgusting ways and you see it every single day now you see a lot of
00:17:04.700 hate online you see it in the way that people treat each other yeah um what do you what do
00:17:09.380 you see as like a potential solve for that? Because in my eyes, and maybe you agree with
00:17:14.800 this, we're just continuing to move further and further, at least I believe so, moving further
00:17:18.600 and further away from what God intended for us. Yeah, I just think we need Jesus. I think he is
00:17:22.880 literally the answer to everything. So we're releasing thousands of self-help books every
00:17:27.380 year, but Gen Z is the most depressed, anxious generation in all of human history. So you would 0.86
00:17:31.700 think if we had the cure, the books would work. So why aren't the books working? And I don't
00:17:37.340 necessarily think those things are inherently bad. I just think we're missing the point. Like
00:17:40.780 we're trying to invent new things and new things. When Jesus is like, I'm the answer. I'm here.
00:17:46.760 Jesus experienced suffering. He's been backstabbed by friends. He experienced glory from people.
00:17:52.900 He experienced anxiety in the garden when he sweat drops of blood leading up to his crucifixion.
00:17:57.500 So he's literally experienced everything that every human being will face in this lifetime.
00:18:03.040 And we act like God can't relate to us, but he's the easy scapegoat when we go through suffering.
00:18:07.460 If we don't believe in him, we're like, oh yeah, God's the reason for my suffering.
00:18:10.720 So we blame him for suffering.
00:18:12.620 But then when we, when we think about looking to him in other areas, we're like, no, I'm
00:18:16.700 good.
00:18:17.140 Like that is insane to me.
00:18:19.140 And so like when I meet people that have this perspective about Jesus, it's like, oh, Jesus
00:18:24.560 is this, Jesus is that, that would be like me asking the hundred closest people to each
00:18:29.080 of you to tell me their opinion on you.
00:18:30.860 And some people would have good things to say about you.
00:18:32.740 some people would have bad things to say about you, but that would be doing you guys a complete
00:18:36.120 injustice unless we sat down like we are right now and getting to meet with you guys. To me,
00:18:40.260 it's the same thing with Jesus, but our bar for Christ is so much higher than the bar for ourselves.
00:18:46.500 And I just think that that's hypocritical too. So I think that people need to actually give
00:18:50.640 Jesus a shot. Human beings or humans are broken. I'm going to fail people. I love my wife and I
00:18:55.860 will serve her, but I'm going to let her down at moments because I'm human. She's going to let me
00:18:58.980 down at moments, but like Christ isn't going to let me down. And the one thing that has remained
00:19:02.900 consistent in my life, even through the fluctuations of emotions and highs and lows is him. And he's
00:19:08.680 proven to be that he's a man of his word. So I just think people need him. They just need him.
00:19:14.340 It's funny that I'm wearing a shirt that says fear of God today. We didn't actually know that
00:19:19.960 you were coming on today. And this was my second shirt for the podcast today. And it leads me into
00:19:24.480 my next question a little bit. I have a relationship with God. I think I talked to you a little bit
00:19:28.120 about this specific thing on, on your show. Um, one thing that I struggle with is having a
00:19:34.820 relationship with God where I feel worthy in the conversations. Um, and it's, it's somewhat
00:19:43.560 reflective in how I feel in my day-to-day life with people as well. But there's a lot of times
00:19:48.760 where I feel undeserving and I actually feel like I'm letting him down. What advice would you give
00:19:56.580 to someone who feels that way.
00:19:58.260 If anyone doesn't feel that way,
00:19:59.840 they'd be lying to you.
00:20:01.600 Like I, you have to think,
00:20:03.040 I talk about Jesus, quote unquote, for a living,
00:20:05.400 and I'll lay awake in my bed
00:20:06.660 knowing that I've hurt people in my past.
00:20:08.300 I've used people in my past.
00:20:09.720 I've done things that no one knows that I've done.
00:20:11.600 And I go, man, why am I talking about you?
00:20:14.160 Genuinely, like I genuinely feel guilty sometimes.
00:20:16.760 But that is the beauty of Jesus
00:20:18.440 is he redeems people.
00:20:20.140 And in Matthew chapter nine,
00:20:21.520 he goes to Matthew's house,
00:20:23.040 which was one of his disciples.
00:20:24.060 He was a tax collector.
00:20:24.840 He throws a big party. 1.00
00:20:25.500 and there's a bunch of sinners and prostitutes and tax collectors and the religious people come
00:20:29.960 over and they're like, he's like, what are you, what is a guy like you hanging out with people
00:20:33.420 like this? And Jesus looks at them and he goes, well, the healthy don't need a doctor, the sick
00:20:37.860 do. So he recognizes that people are sick. We're all sick. We're all unworthy. Those people weren't
00:20:43.360 worthy. The difference is he doesn't affirm their lifestyle. He calls them out of the lifestyle.
00:20:49.420 So that's beautiful. He's seen around them and calls them out of it. And so like knowing that
00:20:54.200 Christ came for people like me and you is the beauty of it. He didn't come for the people that
00:20:59.000 had it all together. In fact, he's like, blessed are the pure in heart in Matthew chapter five,
00:21:02.880 for they shall see God. The reward for being honest with God is more of him. So if you were
00:21:08.620 giving 99% of yourself to God, but withholding 1% because you felt guilty or unworthy, you'd still
00:21:13.760 be unknown to God because you're withholding something from him. That night, Jesus saved me.
00:21:18.400 I was the most guilty, prideful, lustful, selfish, broken version of myself. I brought nothing to
00:21:23.260 the table for Jesus. And he still chose to intervene in my life. And still to this day,
00:21:28.720 sometimes I go, if you're the God of the universe, you have a million things on your plate and a
00:21:32.020 whole lot better people than I am. Why did you choose to stop me from taking my life that night?
00:21:36.640 And that's because I'm not worthy. I'm not deserving, but that's grace. It's a gift that
00:21:41.880 we don't deserve. And that's the kind of God that we serve. And it's a beautiful thing.
00:21:45.860 I definitely can relate to that. I mean, in my story, I could relate to that in a major way.
00:21:50.580 I mean, so many of my friends and people in my life when I was using, you know, didn't survive or got locked up or overdosed or died.
00:21:58.980 And, you know, I definitely look at him as, as, you know, the, the, the, the overarching thing that saved me, you know, so I can, I can definitely relate to that.
00:22:10.840 I'm sure you've spoken about it before, but can you share a little bit about that experience you're talking about?
00:22:15.180 Yeah, I, yeah, when I was in the eighth grade, so like, you know, I saw a lot of hypocrisy,
00:22:20.640 grew up in church, like there was a pastor in my hometown that cheated on his wife and
00:22:24.080 stole money and ran.
00:22:25.120 And I was like, if you're the mouthpiece of God, like, I don't want anything to do with
00:22:27.740 it.
00:22:28.200 But in the eighth grade, my granddad got pancreatic cancer and my family was like, oh, you go 0.78
00:22:33.180 to Christian school, you're the Christian, like you need to talk to him so that he crosses
00:22:36.200 the finish line.
00:22:36.960 They didn't even mean it at an ill will.
00:22:38.500 They were just like, tell me I need to do that.
00:22:40.520 And I didn't really believe in Jesus.
00:22:42.060 so I was just kind of like not really feeling it didn't want to go and the day that I got
00:22:46.960 invited to the hospital to go see him and I didn't go he passed away so I blamed God for
00:22:51.920 killing my grandfather and even though I didn't really believe in Jesus myself I still from being
00:22:56.840 raised in a Christian home and going to church I thought it was my fault that he went to hell
00:23:01.180 essentially and so that's where my severe depression and anxiety kicked in and I battled
00:23:07.300 it from the eighth grade to my junior year. And then on Christmas day of 2020, uh, something
00:23:13.220 happened that day. And I was just like, today's the day I'm going to do it. I thought about it
00:23:16.840 before. And so I went to waffle house to have my last meal. Cause it was the only thing open on
00:23:21.560 Christmas. And, uh, no one said anything to me. No one preached the gospel to me. I couldn't get
00:23:28.180 a seat at the table cause all these families were getting sat and I was there by myself. And so this
00:23:31.660 guy, double my age walked in and, uh, I was like, Hey, I'll pay for your meal. If you're like a part 1.00
00:23:35.920 of my party so we can sit down. So we sit down and he starts dumping his life issues on me. Like
00:23:40.440 my wife's divorcing me. She's taking the kids. And I'm like, dude, I'm thinking to myself,
00:23:43.980 I came here to escape my problems one last time and this old head's like dumping his life issues
00:23:47.500 on me. And, uh, and I'm sitting there and I just remember him saying, I love my wife,
00:23:53.120 but she doesn't feel the same about me. And then he said, there's no growth in a relationship if
00:23:57.920 the love isn't mutual. And when he said that it was just like all of time stopped. And it was
00:24:03.320 like a film reel of Bible verses and things that I had learned growing up that were flashing before
00:24:07.760 my eyes. And I just internally asked myself this question. Maybe I don't know that God loves me
00:24:13.560 because I haven't given myself a chance to love him back. And so I just started bawling my eyes.
00:24:19.800 I threw money on the table and ran out to my car. And I just said, Jesus, if you're real,
00:24:23.460 take away my anxiety and depression, because this is the reason why I want to take my life.
00:24:27.240 And instead of taking my life, I gave my life to Jesus and he took away my anxiety and depression.
00:24:31.300 and i've been following him since that day it's been almost six years wow amazing wow that's an
00:24:36.100 amazing story oh thanks yeah good for you man oh thank you um i feel like a lot of people can um
00:24:43.220 who who do follow christ have a story that is a version like that of their own um
00:24:52.260 and it's really a beautiful beautiful thing the way that god can intervene in your life in such
00:24:57.880 a positive way. I wanted to ask because, you know, it's obviously hard for us to
00:25:06.100 imagine that Jesus, like he was a real person and that he was actually around. And when I hear you
00:25:13.860 speak about him, it's like, you're talking about your homie who's like not in the room right now. 0.99
00:25:17.660 Yeah. And I'm just curious, like, and not in an offensive way and not in a way that
00:25:23.720 is a tell of what I believe at all.
00:25:26.300 What gives you such conviction
00:25:28.000 that Jesus was a real historical figure?
00:25:30.940 Yeah, and dude, like,
00:25:32.080 even before I answer that,
00:25:33.300 just, you know,
00:25:34.160 when you were talking about
00:25:35.000 your public walk with God,
00:25:36.460 I just think it's fascinating
00:25:37.340 that people get upset about you,
00:25:38.900 like, honestly navigating faith.
00:25:41.120 Like, I would want you to be fully honest
00:25:42.680 and be transparent with me.
00:25:44.280 You know what I mean?
00:25:44.800 I'll be honest, Rob.
00:25:45.580 I've always found it a little weird 1.00
00:25:47.340 that, like, a lot of Christians
00:25:51.080 are really judgmental about, like,
00:25:53.720 just my, my own like personal faith journey in a way where it's like,
00:25:57.840 it doesn't seem like very like accepting or like forgiving.
00:26:02.680 Yeah. Just forewarning. There's a lot of friendly fire. There's a lot of fire.
00:26:06.320 It happens. But, but you know, that's obviously not the heart of God. That's not, you know,
00:26:10.400 that. So I just want to clarify that with you. Like when you were, you know, you're like,
00:26:14.020 I don't want to offend you. I'm like, bro, you're not going to offend me. You can say whatever you
00:26:16.380 want to me. It's not going to offend me because I would rather you honestly come to me like no
00:26:20.720 strings attached and tell me how you're feeling about God, then like come with like a little bit
00:26:23.560 of walls because you don't, you don't want to offend me. But to me, like it would offend me
00:26:28.520 if you weren't being fully transparent with me, because I just, I want you to navigate it the
00:26:32.640 best way that you can. So, you know, but I mean, like the reason I feel so much conviction is the
00:26:37.160 same way why you and I believe world war two happened. Like we have so much historical
00:26:40.820 evidence that Jesus was a real guy. So even like when the atheist says like, there is no God
00:26:46.840 or something like that it's like okay whatever and it is no doubt without the shadow of a doubt
00:26:52.000 jesus was a real historical human being and the question is is he god or not so there's too much
00:26:56.880 historical evidence that he was real he walked the earth that he was a man of his word and that
00:27:00.920 he died it's just did he rise from the dead i think the non-christian historical documentations
00:27:06.580 that that even historians today look back on like their documentations of like it being dark and
00:27:11.640 like the way that they described the setting and it lining up with scripture they wouldn't say that
00:27:15.560 he rose from the grave, but they marked that the tomb was empty. His tomb was empty on the third
00:27:20.120 day. I think that's important. And so hearing Cornelius Tacitus and Pliny the whiny and all
00:27:26.000 these guys write about Jesus was a real guy. He was a man of his word. It's just fascinating to
00:27:31.200 me how many eyewitness accounts. But I think the main thing is even today, but back then,
00:27:36.740 the apostles, they were willing to die for the fact that he rose for the dead. I don't care how
00:27:40.880 deep a rabbit hole of a lie goes. I ain't dying for a lie. If someone's holding a knife to my
00:27:44.960 throwing i ain't dying for a lie i'm not i'm snitching i i'm getting out of that you know
00:27:49.140 the the potential rebuttal would be like we've seen cults where they would die and have died
00:27:56.520 for their leader in like violent ways for sure yeah no like good thing jesus doesn't ask me to
00:28:01.740 drink the kool-aid you know what i mean like like he's not asking me to drink the kool-aid he's just
00:28:05.780 asking for like total devotion but again like i don't think that's weird it's like i don't listen
00:28:10.800 to my dad because I have to. I do it because I love him. And I believe that he knows what's best
00:28:14.980 for my life. And so I listen to Jesus and abstain from certain things and build new certain habits
00:28:20.100 because I believe he knows what's best for my life. It's unfortunate that, you know, people
00:28:24.920 manipulate people spiritually and emotionally, you know, for the sake of whoever their God is
00:28:29.600 or whatever. But we're just trusting as believers that his way is better, that he has the best
00:28:35.240 intentions for my life. And just seeing the net positive that Christianity has had on society in
00:28:40.260 general like you can't deny that christian values in general aren't not good they're great they're
00:28:46.220 great values um and you know i think then when you when you start labeling things as a sin and
00:28:51.220 people aren't christian and they take offense to it you know if i'm being honest like i think we
00:28:55.340 just need to stop being soft like you know people have worldviews if they think think something
00:28:59.740 wrong it stems back to a worldview that's their worldview it is what it is i'm sorry i used to do

00:30:41.140 Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening in the underground,

00:31:53.200 back to the show i think he also has a way of asking questions that uh probably do offend
00:32:03.120 people one because it's him but also because they're challenging questions i've always i've
00:32:08.140 always thought they were important because it allows you the platform and the opportunity to
00:32:13.200 then answer that question in an effective way to actually transform people to to believers right
00:32:19.340 well because otherwise without dialogue and like conversation what are we doing here like like
00:32:25.620 that's what i'm saying you know if two people have differing beliefs and you're not able to
00:32:29.720 have a productive conversation and it just met with pointing fingers at each other or calling
00:32:34.720 names or disapproval well it doesn't even have to be different beliefs either it could be it could
00:32:40.320 be just introducing the differing belief these don't even have to be his beliefs i mean he's
00:32:45.840 just he could just be presenting the opposition's viewpoint as a conversation starter and i don't
00:32:51.240 think yeah that's the thing whenever you talk about anything that's complex in this in today's
00:32:54.760 society it just a lot of it falls upon deaf ears because people just aren't able to to comprehend
00:32:59.400 that level of discussion yeah and you know i mean like for example i i went on howie mandel's show
00:33:05.380 and i just saw like a bunch of people being like oh he was like he was like he was like coming
00:33:09.220 after you and blah blah blah and i'm like i didn't feel that way at all like i i'm actually
00:33:14.320 glad he was honest with me and he was sharing his thoughts like I was actually grateful and by the
00:33:18.220 way he's the man I've seen I like he is amazing I love him their team is great so like when people
00:33:24.040 are saying that online just kind of laugh because I'm like well well like I'm glad he was honest I
00:33:27.560 didn't feel offended you know I want someone to be honest with me because if I'm being honest like
00:33:31.660 sometimes if if I don't understand something like my prayer to God might be like dang I'm pissed
00:33:36.300 right now like I can't believe that thing just happened or I did that just came out of left
00:33:39.480 field I can't believe that person hurt me or backstabbed me so like I would rather someone
00:33:43.520 be honest with me and upfront about what they're wrestling with in Christianity. And, you know,
00:33:47.860 I may give an answer that doesn't, you know, I don't know, satisfy what people are looking for.
00:33:52.040 That's totally fine. You know, I don't expect to, you know, meet everyone's needs, but I'm just
00:33:56.680 going to do my best to be a light for Jesus. And if I have an answer to a question, I'll answer
00:33:59.900 the question. But yeah, you know, I think that people are different. People have different
00:34:04.660 personalities. And if you being honest, it's like, dude, what the heck is this about in the Bible?
00:34:10.100 I would rather you say that and be like, Bryce, I don't want to offend you right now,
00:34:15.200 but there's a certain topic.
00:34:16.400 I'd be like, dude, lay it on me.
00:34:17.720 I grew up redneck.
00:34:19.020 I'm like, you can say whatever the crap you want to me.
00:34:21.120 It's not going to offend me.
00:34:22.240 What were some examples of stuff that Howie was challenging you on?
00:34:26.200 Oh, dude, it was like everything under the sun, like homosexuality, pastors and money.
00:34:31.780 We talked about my story. 0.79
00:34:33.280 We talked about why I believe Jesus is the only way.
00:34:36.160 Well, I don't think there's multiple options.
00:34:37.440 I just think that there's one option.
00:34:38.580 Does he identify as a Christian?
00:34:40.400 He's ethnically Jewish, but doesn't have a faith.
00:34:42.580 He believes in universal truth. 0.58
00:34:44.200 So like your truth is your truth and my truth is my truth.
00:34:47.140 So that's...
00:34:48.200 Wait, what?
00:34:49.220 So he would say like to me, like, you know, good for you having your beliefs.
00:34:54.260 I have my beliefs.
00:34:55.840 I think that they're both true.
00:34:57.720 You know, it's whatever.
00:35:00.300 Is that a fence sitter?
00:35:02.720 Is that a fence sitter?
00:35:03.700 Being a fence sitter?
00:35:04.520 You know, I think for some people, they may not recognize it's a fence sitter.
00:35:07.820 But to me, that that that it doesn't make any sense if there is no absolute truth.
00:35:13.180 I was going to say, though, that's not truth, though.
00:35:15.280 That's him saying your truth is your truth is my truth is my truth is an absolute truth claim.
00:35:20.080 You get what I mean?
00:35:21.180 So if I were to say saying both are right.
00:35:23.440 But yeah, but but then everything is true according to what everyone thinks.
00:35:29.480 Yeah, it's it's it's definitely like not a great measure.
00:35:32.660 But what's the alternative when people of different belief sets are as convicted, to use your word, in their beliefs?
00:35:45.480 Like what's the alternative, right?
00:35:47.060 Yeah. 0.99
00:35:47.440 So like for example, like Islam, Muslims are heavily devoted into their faith. 1.00
00:35:52.020 They give a lot more than Christians do.
00:35:54.100 They pray a lot more than Christians do. 1.00
00:35:55.420 They fast a lot more than Christians do. 0.98
00:35:57.160 So if someone were to deconvert from Islam, they would be literally losing their family.
00:36:00.780 It's more than just like a religion to them.
00:36:02.540 It's literally their blood, right?
00:36:03.860 So as a Christian, we would need to offer some family support.
00:36:07.740 That's what the church is for.
00:36:09.100 But we tend to do a bad job of that as Christians.
00:36:11.800 And so I think Christians need to step up better and be better role models in that way
00:36:15.420 and be not even just for Muslims, just in general, like people seeking refuge, people
00:36:18.780 seeking help.
00:36:19.500 Like we need to do a better job of that.
00:36:22.180 But like, you know, just because someone's devoted, people are convicted about a lot
00:36:26.160 of things, but that doesn't mean it's true, right?
00:36:28.200 Truth trumps a feeling.
00:36:30.240 And so for there to be an absolute truth, it's just fascinating to me that every religion has a perspective of Jesus.
00:36:36.320 Like, why is it that everyone has a perspective about Jesus?
00:36:39.100 Why is it not Buddha?
00:36:40.960 Why is it that if someone stubs their toe, they don't say, oh, my Muhammad?
00:36:45.100 They say, oh, my God.
00:36:46.840 Why is it that?
00:36:47.600 Like, to me, that just blows my mind.
00:36:49.440 So I think the name of Jesus and who he is has power.
00:36:52.940 The question is, which one's the right one? 0.92
00:36:54.940 Because the Muslim would say he's a good prophet. 0.98
00:36:56.500 The Christian would say he's God. 0.50
00:36:58.000 The atheists would say he's not God at all.
00:37:00.380 The Hindu and the Buddhists would say he was a good teacher.
00:37:03.200 But who is he actually really?
00:37:04.960 That determines, because they all have a different perspective.
00:37:07.660 They can't coexist.
00:37:09.380 And if Jesus really did rise from the dead, I love Cliff and Stewart who says this,
00:37:12.680 you've got to listen to everything he said, because no one's ever defeated death.
00:37:15.360 If he just dies and nothing else happens, he's no different than you and I.
00:37:18.700 But if he really rose from the dead, then I should listen to him,
00:37:22.400 because that means he's the only person in human history to conquer death.
00:37:26.240 i'm not talking near-death experience i'm talking body in the tomb for three days rose from the
00:37:30.920 dead that's insane that's insane have you done any research into the shroud a little bit like i
00:37:36.280 don't know too much about but it's fascinating isn't it apparently it's uh apparently it's like
00:37:40.560 pretty pretty good evidence it's pretty accurate i think yeah i haven't done an incredible amount
00:37:45.720 of research but one of my friends is like incredibly bullish on the fact that it's it
00:37:49.140 is real and it proves the existence have you seen pictures of it yeah it looks pretty awesome
00:37:53.180 that's incredible it looks at that that's the blood-soaked uh like burial cloth yeah and you
00:37:58.940 can see like the imprint yeah the lacerations and you know all that yeah it's fascinating
00:38:04.060 well okay so i was i was gonna i was gonna ask as well okay so i i hear why you have a conviction on
00:38:09.260 the just existence of jesus historical documents and records um um are pretty convincing and then
00:38:15.820 uh the part of the reason why you fully believe that he was the son of god is because he rose from
00:38:21.900 from the dead yeah is there is there any other thing that gives you uh that that confidence or
00:38:26.400 is that the one thing i mean people are going to believe in in jesus for two different reasons
00:38:30.300 logical evidence so like you know the stuff that we're talking about eyewitness accounts whatever
00:38:33.960 and then experience so like me telling you my waffling story you can't be like well that never
00:38:38.060 happened you can't say that because that was my experience so anyone that has an experience like
00:38:42.980 that's going to play into it and not even just that moment my experience with jesus has been
00:38:49.160 nothing short but a miracle even in the walk with jesus from the practicals like
00:38:53.840 moving like feeling like god called me to la and then you know i didn't know where money was going
00:38:58.960 to come from and then i wake up one morning and someone randomly zelled me the exact dollar amount
00:39:03.020 i needed for rent and it's just like you know random stuff like that or yeah you know it could
00:39:07.680 just be like a random amount of things insane stuff yeah that happened yeah i was uh i worked
00:39:12.680 a boat job in Florida, saved up, moved to LA and, um, yeah, basically like spent all my savings in
00:39:19.680 like two and a half months, like living in LA. And then, uh, it was time for me to get a new
00:39:24.920 apartment and I didn't have enough money for the down payment. And the morning that it was due and
00:39:29.480 we were supposed to move, I had a Zelle notification from a random person that sent me the exact dollar
00:39:34.380 amount I needed for rent. What was the dollar amount? It was $3,000 for like a down payment.
00:39:40.100 Yeah, $3,000 on the dime.
00:39:41.300 It was like the deposit and then like a first month of rent for like my portion.
00:39:45.820 I was splitting it.
00:39:46.600 That's crazy.
00:39:47.760 Who was the person?
00:39:49.500 His name was Mike.
00:39:51.580 Mike Manhart.
00:39:52.740 Damn.
00:39:53.180 That was so close.
00:39:53.920 Yeah, that's close.
00:39:54.540 Well, that's one of my pseudonyms.
00:39:55.780 I use that term sometimes.
00:39:56.920 And by the way, I know you have the money now, so send it back.
00:39:59.400 Yeah, I got you.
00:40:00.220 I need that $3,000 back.
00:40:01.940 Dude, it's funny you say that because I actually have a good number of anecdotal stories like
00:40:09.060 that as well.
00:40:10.020 And the most macro one is just the day that I started, pretty much to the day that I started praying.
00:40:16.460 My life has changed since.
00:40:18.500 I was a drug addict.
00:40:19.580 I found God in my recovery and have prayed every single day, twice a day since then.
00:40:23.700 And look at my life now.
00:40:24.760 I can sit with you guys and have had so many blessings since then.
00:40:28.680 But a bunch of very strange happenings with preachers and Pastor Wilkerson.
00:40:36.060 like randomly one time i was flying from miami to nashville in a really tough time in my life and
00:40:40.260 i'd found this guy miles adcox and on site in nashville and uh pastor wilkerson wanted to meet
00:40:46.260 me for coffee and i was like i can't do it i got to get on this plane to fly to nashville because
00:40:49.380 i'm going to this to this rehab facility for four days to give my phone and just get offline for a
00:40:54.440 few days and he was like that's funny i'm flying to nashville on thursday as well and i was like
00:40:59.820 really i was like what flight are you on i was like i'm on the american airlines at 12 28 and
00:41:03.620 He was like, I'm on the American Airlines at 1228.
00:41:05.580 And I go, what's C to you?
00:41:06.960 And he goes, 2A, I'm in 2B.
00:41:08.660 I'm right next to him.
00:41:09.640 So they put us right next to each other.
00:41:12.400 Pastor Wilkerson and I had just started going to VU with my ex-girlfriend at the time.
00:41:16.040 And I've had a number of strange overlaps that dealt directly with Christian preachers
00:41:23.120 and people of Christian faith that, dude, that's impossible.
00:41:27.200 Those strange impossibilities where I really needed to hear the word and hear some passages 0.99
00:41:33.260 and to have some, you know, love from God.
00:41:36.860 And we flew to Nashville together as I was very nervous
00:41:39.800 and about to give my phone and turn myself into this facility.
00:41:42.780 He prayed for me as we landed in Nashville.
00:41:44.620 It was like a really beautiful thing.
00:41:46.220 Wow.
00:41:46.420 That, like, how do you, stuff like that, like you say,
00:41:49.220 experiences versus the logical sense, how do you argue something like that?
00:41:52.580 How do you, what do you attribute?
00:41:55.240 I mean, people would just say it's a coincidence.
00:41:57.420 That's the argument.
00:41:58.020 And it certainly can be, but you have to ask yourself at what level of coincidence is just statistically impossible.
00:42:09.540 I agree.
00:42:10.320 I started to clock when I'm getting a sign or something happens.
00:42:15.700 I'm like, that is just like, this is impossible.
00:42:19.500 This is impossible.
00:42:20.540 And it's something to pay attention to.
00:42:21.840 Do you have any like that?
00:42:23.200 Yeah.
00:42:23.680 well you can talk a little bit about when you
00:42:28.660 started to kind of like find
00:42:30.220 started your spiritual journey
00:42:32.440 yeah so pretty dark time
00:42:34.160 yeah it was pretty dark so basically
00:42:36.400 actually on this
00:42:38.700 podcast when I felt like I had
00:42:40.360 disrespected God I had mocked
00:42:42.680 God are you familiar with this moment
00:42:44.300 I'm familiar with it
00:42:45.640 I shortly thereafter
00:42:48.720 felt the wrath of God
00:42:49.640 it was crazy
00:42:51.740 it was it was it was it was almost instantaneous and at the time i was just like why is all this
00:42:58.860 happening right now how is this possible it was dark it was the darkest time of my life yeah
00:43:03.040 and then uh i was like well what do you mean i like disrespected god in like a public setting
00:43:11.240 that could explain it um and then it took me a while to like figure out how to how to like
00:43:18.780 how to navigate because i'm also not the person who's like oh my my bad i believe in you now
00:43:25.100 forgive me i like need to believe it yeah um and i want to tell you something about my childhood
00:43:31.800 and going to um church as a as a young person i think i was my so my mom is really religious
00:43:39.380 so is her now husband
00:43:42.440 my stepdad
00:43:44.280 David and they went to church
00:43:46.460 weekly and man
00:43:48.000 7, 8, 9
00:43:50.020 10 years old they would take me to church
00:43:52.340 and I would also go in
00:43:54.360 this church like school service
00:43:56.200 yeah yeah Sunday school
00:43:56.820 what was it called like PSA
00:43:58.780 PSR
00:43:59.840 and man as a young person
00:44:03.980 who you know like I'm
00:44:05.680 technically like a blank canvas
00:44:08.480 I just always got the weirdest feeling in both of those settings
00:44:12.840 it's so hard to describe but even as a kid I like had this like
00:44:20.000 I don't know if I I don't know if I like I'm resonating with any of this
00:44:24.960 which if you're feeling that as an adult that's that's one thing
00:44:30.360 if you're feeling that as a kid I have to believe that's a very honest feeling
00:44:34.380 like i don't have like i don't like no no no preconceived notions about church or god i'm
00:44:39.600 just like a kid who wants to learn and just be like the the best kid i can be and enjoy this this
00:44:44.180 this life whatever that even fucking means but like i just had this like um yeah i don't i don't 0.70
00:44:50.880 know if i um i don't know if i'm i'm i'm buying all this doubt i don't even know if i don't think 0.82
00:44:56.900 it was doubt i was just like what is going on here and i think it was like i think i'm someone
00:45:03.840 who naturally was a little um i i i i tend to go against the grain i'm like a little oppositional
00:45:14.540 like kind of just inherently like a half glass full or half glass empty um what i don't know
00:45:21.660 like optimist is like you're optimistic about something like oh no i believe the best in a
00:45:25.840 situation or i'm typically like it's changed it's changed um and it varies it's a little it's a
00:45:31.620 little circumstances when i was there's nuance to everything but like i don't know even i was a kid
00:45:35.700 i was just like i i didn't like the the the group think and i didn't like being preached at or being
00:45:40.940 forced to be in a setting that like i didn't want to be in um and so i always like that that feeling
00:45:48.060 carried with me a long way not in a way where i like resented god or like uh didn't believe in
00:45:57.800 him it was just like an arm's length kind of like yeah like that that that's a thing that's happening
00:46:02.080 that's a thing that's happening i'm gonna do my thing yeah over there and then you know you know
00:46:05.860 life life's funny it leads you down different paths um and like i said right now my spirituality
00:46:11.660 stronger than ever but it's it's because i i think i uh i think i had and still am trying to live
00:46:20.780 just like an open human experience mine happens to be in front of the internet um by my choice so
00:46:30.220 it's like you sleep in the bed you make and i've gotten to um experience both the ups and the downs
00:46:37.380 and the very real effects of uh talking negatively and positive positively to and with god yeah you
00:46:46.820 know i i can't look at you and say like that was right or wrong because that wasn't you i don't
00:46:51.120 know what you were feeling in those moments but um i'll say like a couple things i'll say first
00:46:56.440 off like you know can christians be weird yeah yeah they can be weird like you know they can be
00:47:04.040 weird it's just that you know and i'm like cut it out you know you're giving this bad rep
00:47:07.320 but uh aside from that like dude you so there's like a part of it where it's like okay like mad
00:47:14.880 respect to mom like i'm thinking like i'm married i want to have kids and like you know if i if i'm
00:47:20.620 all in for jesus and i really think he's the truth and i think that there's certain things
00:47:24.020 that are sin and not only that i've been damaged by sin in the past it's like okay i want my child
00:47:29.180 to get the best experience possible so i need to be careful like where i take them and what church
00:47:33.320 we go to so like there's that aspect of mom it's like dang mom thanks for thinking of me in that
00:47:38.380 way like i kind of grew up and i was like in vbs like you know color in the coloring book or
00:47:42.480 whatever. And was like, all right, whatever. You know, like I would literally recite a Bible verse
00:47:45.660 so I could get a, you know, a toy out of the treasure chest. That would, that's not, you know
00:47:48.740 what I mean? It's like, I didn't, it didn't mean anything to me because I'm six years old, seven
00:47:53.020 years old, whatever. So there's like part of it's like, yeah, bro, you're like 10 years old.
00:47:56.620 Yeah. Also maybe true. Yeah. Yeah. You know, like that's, you know, that's cool. I want to go play 0.98
00:48:00.440 outside. But the, you know, the beautiful thing about it is, you know, if you had a bad experience
00:48:06.920 there, but now God's redeeming it and you're allowing to be honest and ask the questions
00:48:11.480 and like bring it to the table like how full circle is that where it's like maybe you felt
00:48:15.360 like this hesitance and maybe maybe even that moment you mocked God maybe it was a projection
00:48:20.380 that you felt like oh just because other people believe in Christianity like do I have to believe
00:48:24.760 that like I don't want to feel preached at and maybe it was a projection and like dude God God
00:48:30.720 is the best father ever because it just like it breaks his heart when we don't choose him he doesn't
00:48:35.080 like get mad at us it's like you know I can't believe you just did that he's more like man I
00:48:40.640 just wish i wish you didn't do that like i'm right here you know so i'm just glad that you're able
00:48:45.080 to navigate it now you know what you know you know what else i think it was i think um i even
00:48:49.860 still struggle with this now like i i witnessed and saw like a lot of hypocrisy yeah where like
00:48:59.080 um some people were choosing or choosing god and choosing christianity and using it as an excuse
00:49:09.220 to not be a good person um because you elaborate example well technically you can always ask for
00:49:16.900 forgiveness right and so i don't want to like i'd prefer not to give examples but like i think we
00:49:20.900 can all extrapolate here like um you know there was there's people in particular who rely on
00:49:30.180 christianity to try to convince everyone they're not a bad person or or or like or like maybe bad
00:49:36.020 person's a little harsh but like do things that are not that i don't think jesus would be very
00:49:41.080 approving of it i'm not jesus but like some things are not great i'm sure yeah so i think i think
00:49:46.880 that there's like two well you use the f term right before is swearing am i is well especially
00:49:53.020 when you attach it with his name well man i'm just i'm just throwing it out there's a reason why he 0.51
00:49:59.740 says i don't give a crap yeah i yeah i cut it out you know what i'm saying we we believed it in the
00:50:03.660 episode it got bleeped i'm sorry dude it's okay we if you want to talk about swearing we can talk 0.66
00:50:08.440 about swearing but like you know i think that like aside from that you know the hypocrisy thing
00:50:14.260 the unfortunate reality is humans are human that's not excusing it right so so the bible would say
00:50:19.560 oh so now that there's grace can we just do whatever the heck we want to do and he's like
00:50:24.120 absolutely not you can't just do whatever the heck you want to do like god's grace isn't a
00:50:28.120 license to sin then you would be abusing his grace and the book of hebrews would say there remains
00:50:32.300 no sacrifice for you so like there was a term that was popular a couple months ago on tiktok
00:50:36.760 called religious psychosis and people were so pissed that like someone from only fans would
00:50:41.000 leave only fans and follow jesus or someone who used to be a witch would leave it and follow this
00:50:44.720 and it's like i saw people were accusing joe weller of that who's joe weller he's a uh he's a
00:50:49.720 okay he's a british boxer dude that is a total cop out i don't give a rip that is a total cop 0.53
00:50:54.160 out what do you mean religious psychosis that's so stupid like you should be grateful that god
00:50:58.980 can do a work like that, a complete 180 in someone's life. Like that is amazing. That is
00:51:03.060 just a total cop-out. So like when I hear that, I just kind of laugh. But are there people that do
00:51:09.460 that? Yeah. And that's the unfortunate reality. And if God doesn't deal with it today, he's going
00:51:13.860 to deal with it on judgment day. So everything that gets hidden, every human being is going to
00:51:17.940 have to stand before God and be held accountable for every word, thought, or action that they do.
00:51:21.980 If they sincerely put trust in Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of the cross, their slate is 0.82
00:51:25.840 wiped clean even the Jeffrey Dahmers of the world the Hitlers of the world if they genuinely put 0.80
00:51:29.560 faith in Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness they receive that forgiveness again I can't pop
00:51:34.960 the hood of your heart and like check on it so that's like a God thing but if someone doesn't
00:51:39.160 God's going to deal with it then so it does matter if they are actually asking for forgiveness and
00:51:45.020 something's changed in their heart well the so like if I were here looking at you being like oh
00:51:49.260 oh yeah Logan like I love Jesus then you cut the cameras and I'm like cheating on my wife and I'm
00:51:52.820 getting drunk you'd be like dang that dude does not love jesus like that guy's doing everything
00:51:56.600 opposite of what a christian would do then i think you could look at the fruit on my tree and go yeah
00:52:00.960 he ain't about it so you know right huh i could right like that like that would be a valid thought
00:52:07.700 of mine like because like this is what you described is basically just an exact scenario of
00:52:11.780 like an one what an example the yeah so like i so if you look at someone's fruit on their tree
00:52:18.280 it can determine like what fruit is their life you know do they have love self-control patience
00:52:22.240 kindness gentleness how do they serve now do people have moments yeah i have moments of
00:52:26.580 frustration i have moments but there's a difference between living in a unchanging lifestyle we would
00:52:31.760 call unrepentant sin like someone who has zero conviction doesn't feel guilty about their sin
00:52:36.700 i see and they're just continuing doing it versus someone that's like all right i'm trying to get
00:52:41.220 sober and it's that time and they go three months and then they fall on their face by accident and
00:52:45.260 they get up and they keep going yeah the the word is called sanctification it's just a fancy term
00:52:49.940 for the process of being made holy.
00:52:52.160 This Christian walk is a process of being made more like Jesus.
00:52:55.400 So the question that I ask people is, 0.99
00:52:57.260 does your life look different before you claim to have met Jesus
00:52:59.500 until after you claim to have met Jesus?
00:53:01.080 Because if it doesn't, then we're following a different Jesus.
00:53:03.640 Because my life looks different from the moment I met Jesus.
00:53:06.920 And dude, I got saved 39 times in two summers at church camp
00:53:10.300 because I was like malnourished and like crying on the last night.
00:53:12.500 Like, God, I love you.
00:53:13.360 You know, like that's not following Jesus.
00:53:15.840 That was an emotional high.
00:53:17.220 My life actually looks different from that night at Waffle House.
00:53:19.940 house and I would be like, dang, I'm trying to follow Jesus.
00:53:22.560 I'm doing my best and that kind of thing.
00:53:25.080 I think, I think.

00:54:18.540 So sometimes we'll talk about, I don't know, the Uber driver we just had.
00:54:22.280 And how nice they were, or if we tipped them or not.
00:54:25.340 Come and find out.
00:54:26.480 Sometimes we'll talk about that weird news story from last week.
00:54:29.780 It's the one you're thinking about.
00:54:31.180 Trust me.
00:54:32.060 Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening in the underground,
00:54:35.000 or drama and music, or TV shows, or the Met Gala and what the actors wore.
00:54:40.740 What we're saying is we're not afraid to talk about everything under the sun.

00:55:12.060 and all the nitty-gritty stuff we all think about,
00:55:14.520 but just don't say out loud.
00:55:15.480 I hate that job.
00:55:16.520 You're probably just going to meet with some rich guy and he's going to whisk you away
00:55:19.220 and I'll never see you again.
00:55:21.700 Would you say a D-list actor?
00:55:25.220 D?
00:55:27.180 I don't even know there's such a thing as D.
00:55:29.020 No, no, no.
00:55:29.680 I mean, like...
00:55:30.220 I can't even get on the C-list?
00:55:31.120 Like, I'm not even average?
00:55:31.980 I'm not even passing?
00:55:32.940 I'm failing?
00:55:33.760 Listen to No Safe Words with October and Tony Gonzalez, part of My Cultura Podcast Network.
00:55:39.140 Available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
00:55:44.080 I think one point I definitely get a little stuck on, and I was clear about this, or I discussed this with the Connectleys a little bit, is make sure I'm saying this correctly, but God's condemnation of people who are attracted to the same sex has always been a little confusing for me.
00:56:08.540 And I saw you talk about this on Howie's podcast a little bit.
00:56:12.540 And Jeff's podcast.
00:56:14.080 yeah basically you know what i've noticed is that everyone feels comfortable by asking me the gay
00:56:18.600 question which is like i'm perfectly fine with like i'm cool with it you know yeah yeah just
00:56:24.220 help me help me understand help me understand help me just help me understand a little bit
00:56:28.400 just because like i you know i um i'm a straight man i debatable dude you don't have to convince
00:56:35.560 me guys you have to believe me okay you guys i have a wife please believe me guys um i'm a
00:56:43.900 straight man as far as i know uh and i don't know why i am that way other than i think i was born
00:56:51.200 to be attracted to women um there are plenty of gay people on the planet who i believe were born
00:57:00.000 in the same way but were attracted to those of the same sex there's just there's just there's
00:57:05.100 just too many people who are attracted to the same sex to be like oh this is either a an anomaly or
00:57:10.580 be like they're choosing this lifestyle, especially because it could be argued that
00:57:15.380 that lifestyle, at least optically and publicly, comes with some things that make a living a
00:57:21.500 little harder, especially when it comes to judgment from other people, judgment from
00:57:25.800 religions. And so that one's always been a little tough for me to understand. Maybe you
00:57:32.740 could help me. Yeah, for sure. So I think we have to define what love is. Is love a feeling?
00:57:37.340 Is it, you know, it's love with the feeling you get when you get booze in the system or
00:57:41.180 is it an intimate act that you do with someone?
00:57:43.040 I would say, actually, I don't think it's any of that.
00:57:44.740 I think love is a choice.
00:57:46.380 And the Bible describes love.
00:57:47.740 So the Greek language and the Hebrew language have multiple words for love, whereas we just
00:57:51.460 have love in the English language.
00:57:53.340 And the words for God's love, Greek is agape, unconditional.
00:57:57.260 No strings attached.
00:57:58.040 If I never see you, never touch you, hug you like I'm for you.
00:58:00.820 Ahava, I have it tattooed on my hand.
00:58:02.380 It's sacrificial love, meaning to lay your life down for someone.
00:58:05.840 So I believe that's what love is.
00:58:07.560 So I have to define what love is. 0.90
00:58:08.980 I think Christians have done a poor job in history by making people part of the LGBTQ community feel as if they are of a lesser moral value than they are. 0.73
00:58:18.100 There's actually a lot more heterosexual sin that happens within Christianity than homosexual sin.
00:58:22.500 Like there's a lot of pastors cheating on their wives, a lot of people watching porn, you know, stuff like that.
00:58:27.580 The pushback that I'd say is the Bible describes a man and a woman coming together under one covenant for one lifetime.
00:58:34.940 That's God's original design for mankind anything outside of God's original design is sin
00:58:39.400 So when you have a man and a man or a female and a female, it would be determined sin 1.00
00:58:43.280 I think I think being gay is a choice 0.90
00:58:46.420 I personally do
00:58:48.100 I mean if someone was born and they were attracted to their little sister
00:58:51.180 Do you think that they would be born attracted to their little sister?
00:58:54.020 You know
00:58:54.340 I think there isn't aren't some people yeah, no, isn't that like a that's like there there are like
00:59:00.860 the pedophiles specifically are trying to say like similarly that's like what they're attracted
00:59:07.640 to and that's just yeah but like like would you guys personally say like okay let's say someone's
00:59:11.600 born gay or born straight right then would we say that someone could be born attracted to their
00:59:15.920 little sibling yeah i mean yeah yeah you think so right so so where i would say i would say no i
00:59:21.740 don't think so i think that people are born into sin and some people struggle with homosexual
00:59:25.940 attraction some people struggle with you know incest attraction some some people struggle with
00:59:30.360 attraction to other things. But when God is talking about homosexuality, he's not trying 0.53
00:59:35.280 to be a buzzkill, right? So spiritually, God designed man and woman to come together.
00:59:41.000 Practically, if I'm just being completely honest, why is it that AIDS and HIV is more
00:59:44.840 prominent in homosexual environments than it is in heterosexual environments? It's because people 0.97
00:59:48.720 are putting things in certain places that they shouldn't go. And so I don't think God's trying
00:59:52.560 to be a buzzkill. I think he's trying to protect us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
00:59:57.600 and I just we're trusting as Christians that his way is better so if someone is like I want to
01:00:02.580 follow Jesus but I struggle with homosexuality the same way that I'm a Christian and I'm a straight
01:00:06.920 man I and I'm I'm a heterosexual man I have to practice self-control because what is that person
01:00:13.260 so what does that look like for that person just and by the way I I am not great at these
01:00:18.060 conversations because I don't really these are like the type of theoreticals I don't really
01:00:22.440 think about very much like I just don't like it's not something I think about like I'm too busy
01:00:26.620 thinking about like why ocd diagnoses exist in the you know life and i i wake up every day every
01:00:33.880 day and just do the best i can to stay clean and not you know for sure go crazy right and so like
01:00:38.980 i don't really think about like our gay people going to heaven i'll tell you why i think about 0.68
01:00:42.240 but hold on let me ask that last question what what is it what if a gay if there's a gay person
01:00:47.980 out there or someone who is attracted to their little sister or whatever the things we just
01:00:52.200 talked about, that is trying to become more aligned with God, with Jesus and the way that
01:00:56.980 Jesus prescribed, what would, let's use a gay person specifically, what would that person then
01:01:02.400 do? Abstain? Yeah. So self-control would be abstaining from that, right? So even the person 0.99
01:01:07.480 that is a straight male or female that is outside of wedlock, they would be abstaining from sex.
01:01:13.000 They would be using self-control, right? So self-control is a fruit of the spirit.
01:01:16.740 But then you're kind of asking them to abstain from love a little bit.
01:01:20.380 But then that goes back to the question on what exactly is love?
01:01:24.500 If love is a feeling—
01:01:25.480 I also kind of disagree that we have to define love.
01:01:29.740 Like why?
01:01:30.280 Why do we have to define it?
01:01:32.000 Because then why would we have to define good or evil, right?
01:01:35.260 We have to define what things are in order to determine them.
01:01:38.100 Like right now in the 21st century, people are inventing new words, new things, new meanings for stuff.
01:01:43.660 And now definitions are getting all screwed up, not even just outside of love on a whole bunch of other things.
01:01:48.020 So it is important.
01:01:48.700 Like murder.
01:01:49.240 I did murdering your kids, for example.
01:01:52.300 I mean, we've got a crazy case going on where, dude, everything is getting pretty crazy.
01:01:57.300 Left field, bro.
01:01:58.000 Left field.
01:01:58.660 Sorry, but I'm just saying, things are getting crazy out there right now, dude.
01:02:02.460 I mean, there's a lot of crazy stuff out there.
01:02:05.800 To your point, you're right.
01:02:07.500 Words do matter.
01:02:08.680 Love is a tough one because I think it can be a lot.
01:02:13.200 It's an intangible thing, right?
01:02:15.060 But I think that's why, and this all stems back to worldview.
01:02:18.420 Like, I think sometimes people can look at like, oh, you know, Bryce has a stance on
01:02:21.520 homosexuality.
01:02:22.200 It's not political.
01:02:23.200 It's just a worldview.
01:02:24.240 What people typically label as a political thing, it's not political.
01:02:27.320 It's a worldview.
01:02:28.400 Someone's a Christian.
01:02:29.120 Someone's a Muslim.
01:02:29.760 Someone's an atheist.
01:02:30.460 Someone's agnostic.
01:02:31.540 Someone doesn't care about religion.
01:02:33.180 It's all worldview. 1.00
01:02:34.560 Why do you, if you think being gay is a choice, why would a gay person choose a lifestyle 0.53
01:02:40.720 that is probably much unnecessarily harder than just being heterosexual? 0.85
01:02:46.140 Well, think outside.
01:02:47.180 Because of judgment and being shunned and potentially mocked or made fun of.
01:02:52.280 Okay, like let me ask you this question.
01:02:53.960 Like all the bad decisions that you've made in the past,
01:02:56.000 like why did you choose to do them even if you knew that there would be repercussions coming?
01:02:59.400 I've not made a single bad decision in my entire life.
01:03:02.260 You know, I admire that.
01:03:04.260 I'm sorry, ask the question again.
01:03:07.780 You know what I mean?
01:03:08.480 It's like why did you choose in the past to make bad decisions
01:03:11.920 that you knew there were repercussions coming after?
01:03:13.780 even like exclude, exclude religion aside of it. Like you're saying if someone is, if a man is
01:03:18.840 attracted to a man and they know that judgment's going to come, if there are things. And like,
01:03:22.140 by the way, me saying that I think homosexuality is a sin is not judging someone. It's my worldview.
01:03:28.900 If I think Jesus is the truth, I'm not judging them. I'm trying to point them to the truth
01:03:32.400 because in my mind, I don't think that thing's going to satisfy their soul because everyone
01:03:36.940 again is on a quest for love. It's deeper than an attraction to the same sex or the opposite sex.
01:03:41.980 I would say the same thing to someone who's trying to find escapism in a heterosexual marriage.
01:03:46.520 Like, does your faith go deeper than just your significant other?
01:03:49.920 And so, like, this love extravaganza, it's deeper than a feeling.
01:03:53.380 It's deeper than drugs.
01:03:54.180 It's deeper than being attracted to a man or a woman or a helicopter.
01:03:58.460 Like, you know, I don't even care.
01:03:59.960 It's deeper than that.
01:04:01.080 It is about the man himself, Jesus. 0.99
01:04:03.880 And so if someone is in a homosexual lifestyle and they want to follow Jesus, 0.97
01:04:09.060 Jesus made an original design for people. 0.84
01:04:10.780 were trusting that his way is better, they would be practicing self-control because they're
01:04:14.600 trusting that God's way is better. When I follow Jesus, I'm handing the reins of my life over to
01:04:19.760 God despite how I feel, despite what I want to do, despite what I care about, because what I care
01:04:24.820 about may not be what's best for my life, whether that's with sexuality, alcohol, drugs, friend
01:04:30.320 groups I hang out with, my job, maybe that's a distraction, whatever it may be. Would you say
01:04:34.520 that there's a portion of being a good christian that just uh unconditionally may contain suffering
01:04:43.280 yeah i think like being a gay person who can't experience love or has to abstain sorry has to
01:04:50.640 abstain from a romantic relationship in life because of their as you put it chosen uh attraction
01:04:57.540 like would you consider that suffering a necessary part of christianity well i think
01:05:04.140 I think it comes down to like how you define suffering again like what does it mean to suffer
01:05:08.440 for God but like separate from that the two options would be either you know if you're a man
01:05:13.360 marry a woman woman marry a man or abstain from it like the Bible even says that there's a call
01:05:17.620 for celibacy for certain people it's not for everyone but that calls for them and it's to
01:05:21.420 focus on the work of God praise God we need people to do that I'm also grateful to have a wife praise
01:05:26.880 God I wasn't called to that you know what I mean I'm glad to have a wife I'm glad to have have a
01:05:31.020 family. You know, I'm grateful for that. Uh, you know, but when, like, even with the relationships,
01:05:35.960 God's, whether it's sexuality or anything, God's not trying to make life miserable for us,
01:05:40.280 our experiences, for some reason, we have such a high bar for God, but our experience, it's like,
01:05:45.780 we think that this is the best for us. So someone that may be in a, that have,
01:05:49.620 that has had homosexual attraction for 20 years of their life, they think I can't live without
01:05:53.900 this. This is the best it's going to get. Like, this is what's best for me, but we don't know 1.00
01:05:57.640 what's better for you on the other side of a yes to jesus do you believe uh do you believe in like
01:06:03.840 a child's instincts like what do you mean by that like intuition yeah like uh what like what is a
01:06:10.660 four or five six seven year old attracted to or into uh like is there is there merit in in such a
01:06:18.240 a youthful blank canvas innocence of a thought manifesting itself into reality whether you're
01:06:25.240 You know, every human being is born into sin.
01:06:27.240 That's why you don't have to teach your young daughter to throw a temper tantrum when she doesn't want to share.
01:06:32.060 You know what I mean?
01:06:32.980 Is that a sin, though?
01:06:33.780 But that shows the manifestation of sin within a human nature because the development of that, like, for example, someone seeing a pastor cheat on their wife, they didn't just wake up one day and go, oh, my gosh, I'm going to cheat on my wife.
01:06:45.560 They woke up, went to the gym, and looked at a woman lustfully and didn't say anything.
01:06:49.180 And then that pattern developed, developed, developed, and manifested in this big blowup that happened, right?
01:06:54.160 So you can see the signs of a sinful nature, even in the innocence of a baby, rebellion, anger, you know, leading into a temper tantrum, like hitting you, you know, your daughter, like temper tantrum, hitting you.
01:07:05.060 Yeah, I guess you'd have to believe that the signs of a sinful nature will then manifest in adulthood in something far more drastic than not sharing a toy.
01:07:14.000 You'd have to believe that that that that that is the natural path that you follow.
01:07:17.500 Well, right. Like deep down, let's say, you know, that isn't dealt with 20 years from now. And, you know, there's this demand for Christians to be generous to homeless people. But because you never dealt with your selfishness or your pride, you're not willing to be generous to the homeless person. But you demand Christians to be generous to the homeless person. That's pretty hypocritical whether you're a Christian or not.
01:07:35.720 So, you know, I think even looking at a child, like children have instincts that they weren't taught good or bad.
01:07:42.680 I did bad stuff.
01:07:44.220 I'd like hit, you know, throw a temper tantrum three or four years old, throw a toy at someone, you know, whatever, punch someone.
01:07:49.660 So it's like I didn't, no one taught me that.
01:07:52.640 Do I think there's something beautiful about the innocence of a child?
01:07:55.400 Absolutely.
01:07:56.220 Christ loved children.
01:07:57.380 He actually tells the disciples, they're like arguing over who's the greatest.
01:08:01.720 And he's like, if you want to enter the kingdom of heaven, receive me like a child.
01:08:04.960 He's not telling people to be childish.
01:08:06.820 He's telling them to be childlike.
01:08:08.180 You don't have to convince a child that Santa's real.
01:08:10.000 You tell them Santa's real, they're going to wait that the milk and cookies are going
01:08:12.880 to be eaten and drank of the morning, and those are going to be Christmas presents on
01:08:15.600 the Christmas tree.
01:08:16.480 And you actually have to convince them harder that Santa's not real later in life than you
01:08:19.580 did the first time you told them that he was real.
01:08:21.600 So there's a beauty of childlikeness.
01:08:24.460 But looking at human beings, we're all inherently sinful.
01:08:28.620 And some people struggle with other things more than they do other things.
01:08:31.020 I've never had a sip of alcohol in my life.
01:08:32.680 I've never done a drug before.
01:08:33.680 but like i was addicted to porn from the fifth grade until i became a christian you know so i
01:08:37.900 had vices of my own so when i talk to people like i try to level with them like man i ain't nobody
01:08:43.020 special like just because i wear you know a suit and a tie on a wedding day that doesn't mean i'm
01:08:47.620 all nice and dandy i've done some bad stuff but that's that's what unites us is that we can all
01:08:52.800 be you know redeemed under that under that truth but i think there's just a lot more that factors
01:08:57.080 into people you know i'm not going to label and say you know every person that struggles with
01:09:00.120 homosexuality has been traumatized or something like that.
01:09:02.740 Bro, even the verbiage is 0.53
01:09:04.200 crazy. Struggles with
01:09:06.060 homosexuality is nuts, Bryce.
01:09:08.640 But you have to understand, like, my 1.00
01:09:10.200 worldview believes that God... They're not struggling, my
01:09:12.280 guy. They're just proudly gay. Okay, let me
01:09:14.320 ask you this. Do you think it's natural for two men to have 0.95
01:09:16.200 sex? What is natural? 0.99
01:09:18.320 Let's define it. Do you think it's natural?
01:09:20.580 What is natural? Do you think that those parts were designed? Do you think
01:09:22.260 two men were designed to have sex? 0.72
01:09:24.440 What is natural? Stick? 0.98
01:09:26.320 Hole? Do they fit? Is that natural?
01:09:28.800 Here's the problem.
01:09:29.520 Let me try this one.
01:09:32.740 The rationale for sexual activity was always based in repopulation of the earth, right?
01:09:38.200 So the natural way would be to use a penis, which is able to create a child.
01:09:45.020 So let's exclude that.
01:09:46.440 Okay, I will say if sex was only designed for pleasure, then that is like a very shallow reason to have sex, right?
01:09:53.060 Not even just for the repopulation.
01:09:54.500 We know that it's not.
01:09:55.260 Yeah, right, right, right.
01:09:56.060 That's what I'm saying. 0.98
01:09:56.560 Every single part of the sexual organ and sexual build-out on a male and a woman, how they fit together, is built for the repopulation of earth.
01:10:04.100 Repopulation, intimacy, like you feel close to your significant other.
01:10:07.920 Right.
01:10:08.360 There's two different perspectives here at play.
01:10:11.660 One is someone who's trying to prove all the ways that God is real and Jesus is real in your life and how he can help you through your life.
01:10:21.760 and logan's way of proving god has always been through trying to eliminate all of the exceptions
01:10:29.000 to the rule what the fuck don't speak for me bro that's not what i'm asking about one thing 0.81
01:10:34.240 i'm asking he's i could be honest i'm asking about one thing no no no i know that's got one 0.85
01:10:38.380 thing that this particular thing doesn't quite add up to me that's all i'm saying and look i'm
01:10:45.040 not offended at all you know in fact like we do a lot of like we go into a lot of like pride
01:10:49.760 parades purposely to meet them where they're at because a lot of like people part of the lgbtq
01:10:53.380 community like they're afraid to go to church because they feel like they're going to be judged
01:10:56.300 so i don't mind going into an environment we're not in the minority well probably because if you
01:11:00.620 if your end goal is you should just not be gay they probably are not going to be super receptive
01:11:05.660 well the end goal is not to not be gay the end goal is to follow jesus and with following jesus 0.69
01:11:10.200 comes losing crap and that might be you know not being gay cutting out friends for someone that
01:11:15.420 struggles with homosexuality it might be that for someone that for someone that struggles
01:11:19.820 i know i know gay people who aren't struggling dude i know a ton of incredibly nice gay people
01:11:27.300 are they well hold on a second well hold on a second that's his worldview to use that that
01:11:33.080 terminology so you can't you can't laugh because there's a lot of people who are out there right
01:11:37.840 now who aren't sorry let me let me rephrase they're struggling with sexual sin does that
01:11:43.020 Does that make the blow?
01:11:44.160 Because, again, it's less.
01:11:46.520 I would say the same thing to the straight person that's having sex with their girlfriend or boyfriend outside of marriage.
01:11:50.620 I would say the same thing to the person that can't stop watching porn.
01:11:53.060 Struggling with sexual sin.
01:11:54.240 Sexual sin, yeah. 0.95
01:11:55.280 And under that umbrella of sexual sin comes homosexuality. 0.99
01:11:59.560 And so, like. 1.00
01:12:00.520 It's great.
01:12:01.480 This one's wild to me.
01:12:02.760 This one's wild.
01:12:03.520 Why?
01:12:03.700 Well, that's okay.
01:12:04.280 Like, you know, I'm not expecting anyone to fully understand, like, a worldview, like, right off the bat.
01:12:09.040 And I think part of the reason is, and again, people are afraid to talk about this because they're too worried about including people.
01:12:15.420 Let me tell you something.
01:12:17.080 I came on this podcast.
01:12:18.960 Well, yeah, I mean, we've done, what, 516 episodes now at this point?
01:12:22.180 Of course I came on this podcast.
01:12:23.580 I was on this podcast, and one time I said something along the lines of— 0.99
01:12:29.840 You were going gay for March.
01:12:30.660 I said I was going to go gay for March. 0.97
01:12:32.760 Which you did, by the way. 1.00
01:12:33.780 Male-only March.
01:12:35.040 i said i was gonna go gay for uh uh march okay um i don't even know what to think about it there
01:12:42.880 was a there was a there was a there was a tremendous uprising from the lgbtq community
01:12:49.560 which like i'm an ally i don't know if you can tell you like i'm i'm an ally um i i support them
01:12:54.380 i'm with i'm with these people i'm not gonna like go like wear that on my sleeve and make it my
01:12:59.780 identity but at the end of the day i'm an ally the issue was because i said go gay and the backlash
01:13:05.700 was uh you can't go gay because being gay is not a choice when back when twitter was really into
01:13:13.000 cancel culture price 150 000 tweets condemning me because i said go gay versus versus saying
01:13:19.080 something like i'm gonna only uh uh kiss dudes in in for the month month of march which i think
01:13:24.900 facetiously maybe would have worked a little better for like the the joke i was trying to
01:13:29.400 make whether it was a right joke or wrong joke i'm not i'm not totally sure i'm not even going
01:13:33.440 to get into that but it's it's it's because i the the backlash was going gay is not a choice
01:13:38.480 and and i didn't but i didn't even i didn't even i didn't even say that you're sitting here
01:13:43.720 point blank saying it is a choice well because now you can say shit you know it's not i'm
01:13:50.620 i'm 10 toes down i think it's a choice yeah but like but like here's the thing is it's deeper
01:13:55.880 than just the sexuality. Like I think that all sin leads people to hell. So if I think that
01:14:01.260 something is going to lead someone to hell and I believe Jesus is the truth, I think ultimate 0.94
01:14:04.760 satisfaction is not found in whether what race you are, where you grew up, what sexuality you're 0.95
01:14:09.840 attracted to. If I think it's found in Jesus and I want everyone to have that experience and I want
01:14:13.400 everyone to know that. And even if that comes like ruffling people's feathers or offending people,
01:14:17.680 to me being inclusive by like, oh yeah, bro, like just live your lifestyle. Heck no. If I think it's
01:14:24.120 the truth and i think it's the only way i gotta say something about it and uh yeah i just i just
01:14:30.240 like having the conversation but again like what people don't understand is like there are people
01:14:34.460 that like bash people in the lgbtq community from their couch on twitter and i'm going into the
01:14:40.700 community as the minority willing to have the honest conversations and i think that's the
01:14:45.380 difference it's like i wish more people would do that i love i love that you're doing that by the
01:14:48.720 way it's it's one of the reasons i really respect them what you do thank you what uh what has what
01:14:53.380 have those conversations been like at the gay pride parade yeah you know i'm not forcing anyone
01:14:57.960 in the moment to be like you know drop the pride flag and be straight you know it's like it's not
01:15:02.840 like anything close to that it's just like asking them questions so many times like where the street
01:15:07.640 preachers are standing then they're holding the signs and the people are like you know the people
01:15:12.480 part of the lgbtq community they're like cussing them out or whatever i'm like talking to those
01:15:16.940 people and having real honest conversations with them while the so-called preachers are back there
01:15:22.000 getting cussed at. Like I'll literally stand like 50 feet away from them as they're walking. Like
01:15:26.020 I remember this lady like looked at someone and they were like, yeah, F you, F you. And then she
01:15:29.500 turned around. I was like, yo, what do you think of that? She's like, oh, insane. And like goes on
01:15:33.020 this thing. And I was like, well, like, what do you think about Jesus? She's like, well, I mean,
01:15:36.840 like I grew up hearing about him, but you know, I don't, this isn't that. And we just had like a
01:15:39.900 raw 10 minute conversation and it was great. And it was wholesome. And you know, I, I prayed for
01:15:45.120 her and then she went on. I had someone like message me and they were like, well, I'm a gay
01:15:49.120 Christian, but I just don't act on it. And I'm like, well, then I wouldn't even call you a gay
01:15:52.180 Christian. I would just think that you're a Christian. In fact, I think someone is, is better
01:15:55.760 than like, I think someone is worth more than their sexuality. You know, like when we're going
01:15:59.420 to the LGBTQ communities, I'm like, these are human beings that are made in the image of God
01:16:03.640 that deserve to know Jesus. But the only thing about that is you're saying that they're more
01:16:12.320 than their sexuality but at the end of the day god is judging them and sending them to either
01:16:19.920 heaven or hell potentially because of their sexuality well it's not in the the sin isn't 0.67
01:16:26.240 in the attraction it's in the action right so if someone has like um you know a homosexual 0.61
01:16:30.280 attraction but they practice self-control and don't act on it praise god the difference would
01:16:34.880 be like acting on that right that's the same way as like if i have a heterosexual desire to
01:16:39.280 you know sleep with another woman that isn't my wife and i practice self-control and i don't do
01:16:44.300 that then then i would be cutting that you see what i'm saying like cutting the line right there
01:16:49.080 i'm done i'm done what one of the issues one of the things that i have issues with and it
01:16:56.560 pertains to this conversation quite quite a bit is like contradiction and i think it's kind of a
01:17:01.900 part of his uh questions as well which is like we're all god's children god loves all of us
01:17:09.120 i believe i believe in jesus and i pray for forgiveness so i'll be saved because i've
01:17:13.600 accepted jesus into my heart but i am still a sinner a sinner or as pastor wilkerson would say
01:17:19.300 a dirty rotten sinner which i am every day you know not every day but some days and i ask for
01:17:25.580 forgiveness for those sins i've accepted jesus into my heart so like where like the lines drawn
01:17:30.260 and like what's okay but not okay but like i'll figure out later and i am also on a journey and
01:17:35.120 For a while I was, you know, like I used to do drugs.
01:17:37.500 I don't do drugs anymore.
01:17:38.380 Like what?
01:17:39.160 You know what I'm saying?
01:17:39.860 Like some of this stuff is a little bit difficult for me to figure out. 0.98
01:17:43.040 So I don't get stuck in the gay weeds as much as other people because in my mind, like I'm just trying to like live as good of a life as I can while I'm here.
01:17:54.460 And that means like a lot of that is except like, dude, you know, those guys that stand with the science is like God hates.
01:18:00.200 That's right.
01:18:00.700 That's what I can't.
01:18:01.860 I can said that.
01:18:03.120 Well, that's the science.
01:18:04.060 No, no, no.
01:18:04.480 I feel like he took the opportunity.
01:18:09.320 No, that's what the signs say, dude.
01:18:11.320 It quite literally is what the signs say.
01:18:12.420 It does.
01:18:12.860 So it says that on the sign.
01:18:14.560 Those people, to me, are not good Christians because they're preaching hatred.
01:18:18.760 They're preaching that God hates someone.
01:18:20.860 And I don't believe that God hates anyone.
01:18:22.400 I think that God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are continuously working on all of us.
01:18:27.640 They're continuously working to make us better people, to align us more with God's word.
01:18:31.180 So the idea that God hates anyone, I think that that's a sin and a blasphemous piece of signage to have.
01:18:39.360 I don't think that that's fair at all.
01:18:40.420 He doesn't hate people.
01:18:41.440 He hates sin.
01:18:42.340 So the same way that he – like that's what I was saying to you earlier of like God was looking down at you.
01:18:47.600 He's like, I can't believe you just did that.
01:18:49.120 He's like, man, I just wish you wouldn't have done that.
01:18:51.640 It's like almost like a heart of compassion.
01:18:53.120 It's almost even worse like when your parents are like, I'm not mad.
01:18:55.420 I'm just disappointed.
01:18:56.400 And you're just like, damn.
01:18:58.680 Yeah, I understand what you're saying.
01:18:59.980 It's just like when God is looking at us, it breaks his heart because he realizes, he's like, I'm where you're going to find everything you're searching for everywhere else but in me.
01:19:10.680 So when I see my creation choosing something else over me, it breaks my heart. 0.66
01:19:16.020 Whether that is thinking, I'm going to find this in the same way, like I believe, according to my worldview, that God's heart breaks for the person that is trying to find satisfaction in a homosexual relationship or desire.
01:19:27.900 the same way that I think God's heart breaks for the heterosexual couple where the husband is trying
01:19:33.260 to find full satisfaction in his wife instead of Jesus. I think his heart breaks the same
01:19:37.060 because we're talking about something that's going to separate them. An idol is something
01:19:41.280 that matters more than what matters most. So if my marriage, if my sexuality, if my job,
01:19:47.380 if my work, if my friend group, if drugs, alcohol begins to matter more than Jesus,
01:19:53.040 then there's a serious problem and you know so i like it does break my heart when i see that that's
01:19:59.420 why one of the reasons like i try to flip the script on purpose like we are actively trying to
01:20:03.540 go into the environments have the honest conversations because we're literally having
01:20:06.880 the conversations with the people that are flicking off the street preachers and i i think
01:20:12.420 it just says something like maybe there i think there are people that want to have conversations
01:20:15.860 and you know what's crazy it's like we're sitting here and we're talking about you know homosexuality
01:20:21.200 and the Christian worldview or whatever.
01:20:23.200 But I get asked this question all the time
01:20:24.980 by believers and non-believers
01:20:25.880 because they want me to give them a clear-cut answer.
01:20:28.420 They want me to say something.
01:20:29.800 So is it like, do we really need to beat
01:20:31.720 around the bush about it?
01:20:32.640 Or do people want an answer?
01:20:33.820 And I think people want to know the truth.
01:20:35.700 And that's why we've seen,
01:20:38.060 however you define success,
01:20:39.420 with having these conversations with people,
01:20:41.180 whether they're gay, straight,
01:20:43.760 part of another religion.
01:20:45.160 I told you on your show too,
01:20:46.740 and I really do believe this,
01:20:48.420 we always, and I remember saying this specifically,
01:20:50.940 We always look at punishment as a afterlife situation, but I told you that I believe that a lot of the punishment is in this world.
01:21:00.940 And I think that you find that aligning yourself with Christ's teachings will present fruit now.
01:21:09.780 When you really look at the things that he's asking us to do or preaching to us to do, they align with a healthy, happy, wholesome life, okay?
01:21:17.540 They really do.
01:21:18.440 Like study my word, be kind to each other. Don't, you know, don't lie to your, to your wife. Don't cheat on your wife. All of those things allow us to live a very peaceful, simple, traditional life. Okay. And I found that anytime I stray away from that, I generally have to deal with the guilt, the nasty feelings, all of that stuff here on earth.
01:21:41.300 And so I do my best to not have to deal with the anxieties, the depressions that come out of actions that I don't love for myself.
01:21:48.140 But I do still suck at it sometimes.
01:21:51.340 I'm going to be completely honest with you.
01:21:52.660 Because guess what?
01:21:53.680 Life is hard.
01:21:54.640 And also sex feels very good.
01:21:57.340 And so does some other things that you're not supposed to do, like eating a lot of food or other things that are bad for you but also feel really good.
01:22:04.780 For sure.
01:22:05.460 It's hard, man.
01:22:06.440 That's what I'm getting at.
01:22:07.240 Life is hard.
01:22:08.300 And there's, you know, there's two, you know, two different types of people.
01:22:12.220 There's, I mean, hell is a real place.
01:22:13.700 I believe hell is real.
01:22:14.840 I believe it's both a choice and a justice system.
01:22:17.700 Right.
01:22:18.160 But like separate, separate from like the hell conversation, you know, to your point,
01:22:23.900 like, yeah, there's repercussions for sin.
01:22:26.260 That's why, like, I brought up the point of like, if you put things in certain places
01:22:29.580 that they're not supposed to go, there's going to be physical repercussions for it.
01:22:34.480 There's going to be, if someone drinks alcohol and gets drunk, they're going to experience
01:22:37.940 repercussions of their sin if someone gets you know does a buttload of mushrooms and has a bad
01:22:43.240 trip they're going to experience repercussions for their actions that all make that all makes
01:22:48.640 a tremendous amount of sense so like god that's why god's not being a buzzkill on any topic

01:23:46.420 So sometimes we'll talk about, I don't know,
01:23:48.700 the Uber driver we just had.
01:23:50.160 And how nice they were,
01:23:51.400 or if we tipped them or not, come and find out.
01:23:54.360 Sometimes we'll talk about that weird news story
01:23:56.720 from last week.
01:23:57.680 It's the one you're thinking about, trust me.
01:23:59.920 Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening
01:24:02.000 in the underground, or drama in music,
01:24:04.440 or TV shows or the Met Gala and what the actors wore.

01:24:43.500 I hate that job.
01:24:44.400 You're probably just going to meet with some rich guy and he's going to whisk you away
01:24:47.100 and I'll never see you again.
01:24:49.640 Would you say a D-list actor?
01:24:53.100 D?
01:24:55.080 I don't even know there's such a thing as D.
01:24:56.920 No, no, no.
01:24:57.560 I mean like...
01:24:58.100 I can't even get on the C-list.
01:24:59.020 Like I'm not even average.
01:24:59.880 I'm not even passing.
01:25:00.840 I'm failing.
01:25:01.660 Listen to No Safe Words with October and Tony Gonzalez,
01:25:04.340 part of My Cultura Podcast Network.
01:25:07.040 Available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
01:25:10.360 or wherever you get your podcasts.
01:25:12.740 Can you out good deed, bad deeds?
01:25:18.520 Can you out good deed, bad deeds?
01:25:20.000 If you're just like the dopest person,
01:25:22.120 you're always helping everyone,
01:25:23.340 like you're changing other people's lives on the daily.
01:25:25.880 You're preaching positivity.
01:25:27.160 You're getting people out of dark places in their life.
01:25:29.080 but also like you, you know, you boned a few chicks, you know what I'm saying? Like,
01:25:33.940 so, so the Bible would say that there's not, there's not an amount of good works that we can
01:25:39.420 do to, to get into heaven. It's like, so, so let me, I think I asked you this as well.
01:25:43.780 I'm not speaking for myself. I'll ask you this, Logan, on a scale of one to 10,
01:25:49.180 10 being absolutely certain, one being not certain at all, how confident are you that
01:25:53.320 you would go to heaven? I saw one of your videos where you did this and I asked myself this
01:25:58.480 question okay and my answer was eight okay and is that you know because maybe you feel like you've
01:26:05.180 done bad and you feel like you're doing better now and you're in a spirit you're good in
01:26:08.780 spirituality I feel um I feel like I'm a good person I feel like I'm I'm a human who's made
01:26:20.240 mistakes but is also like trying to be the best person that I can be and now at 31 years old
01:26:29.220 if um if a thought crosses my mind or something happens where I I feel like oh like that's not
01:26:36.200 like my my um my instincts of that's not a good thing like kick a little more than they have in
01:26:40.940 the past and uh I don't know I just feel I it kind of feels promising that like I'm a I'm a
01:26:47.000 I'm a good enough person to get into heaven, I think.
01:26:50.640 Yeah, so like the Bible would say that
01:26:52.820 if we can't work our way into heaven whatsoever,
01:26:56.580 no matter the more,
01:26:57.440 and I recognize like there are alcoholics
01:26:59.320 that have quit alcohol without Jesus.
01:27:00.940 There are people that have conquered porn addictions
01:27:02.620 without Jesus.
01:27:03.380 So I don't think like what comes with Jesus,
01:27:06.340 deep spiritual transformation and meaning and purpose
01:27:10.040 that can't be substituted out with an AI robot
01:27:12.480 or someone taking my job
01:27:14.040 or someone getting the promotion over me.
01:27:15.220 there's deep meaning, purpose, significance, satisfaction, security that comes with Jesus
01:27:19.480 that can't be robbed from us when we follow him, right? But the analogy that I would say is like,
01:27:24.860 if I gave you guys, you know, two tickets courtside to the Lakers game and you went in there and you
01:27:28.400 scan the ticket, you walk down and security stopped you guys. He was like, why am I going to let you
01:27:32.540 in? You're going to be like, well, I got tickets. And he's going to say, well, how'd you get the
01:27:35.200 tickets? And you'd be like, well, Bryce gave them to me. They're a gift. In the same way, like Christ
01:27:39.780 is the gift for us. He's the ticket punch. If the standard for heaven is perfection, I don't know
01:27:44.300 about you guys i ain't getting in i don't meet that criteria but that's what it feels like
01:27:48.760 sometimes that is what it feels like sometimes like to do the good things to get no it just
01:27:52.640 feels like there's a lot like in in like when i listen to like the the the pre-reqs for heaven
01:27:58.800 it feels like it might just be like god up there dude you know what i'm saying because i dude like
01:28:04.980 bro there's so many like bro you said cheese and cars might get you banned
01:28:09.540 I didn't say it get me banned
01:28:11.800 but you know what I'm saying
01:28:12.700 like dude there's a lot of things
01:28:14.720 you can't do
01:28:15.820 and there's a lot
01:28:16.680 and there's a lot of people
01:28:17.860 doing those things
01:28:18.920 okay but think about like
01:28:19.960 the book of Leviticus
01:28:21.380 you have 613 laws
01:28:23.360 and 10 commandments in there
01:28:24.500 heck no
01:28:25.620 like that sounds crazy
01:28:27.380 there's no way
01:28:28.220 like so when Jesus is asked
01:28:30.280 to the Pharisees 0.99
01:28:31.680 the religious guys 0.53
01:28:32.400 they come up to Jesus
01:28:33.040 and go hey which one's the greatest
01:28:34.260 out of all 613
01:28:35.700 which one's the greatest
01:28:36.640 because they knew
01:28:37.400 that the law was considered perfect
01:28:39.140 So if Jesus said one was better than the other 612, they could condemn him and stone him and do what they wanted to do with him.
01:28:45.280 And Jesus says, here's the greatest commandment, love God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.
01:28:50.560 He doesn't eliminate all of them.
01:28:52.440 He summarizes all of them under the one truth.
01:28:54.940 So instead of looking at everything like, oh, I got to like not do drugs today and I got to like not sleep with a bunch of women that aren't my wife and I got to do this and I got to do that like you're shooting at a target.
01:29:03.580 That when you follow Jesus and you love Christ, you find yourself naturally obeying him.
01:29:09.660 And that's why the process sanctification, this journey with Christ is being made holy.
01:29:13.880 It's like every day I'm loving Jesus.
01:29:15.800 I'm learning more new things.
01:29:17.220 There's more growth in my relationship.
01:29:18.760 See, that makes sense to me.
01:29:19.580 The journey makes sense to me.
01:29:21.120 That's the goal.
01:29:22.040 That's the goal.
01:29:22.740 We can't do anything on our own.
01:29:24.300 And if we try to, the days that I try hard not to sin, I sin more.
01:29:29.480 I do more mistakes.
01:29:30.740 Can you be honest if this question is okay?
01:29:33.360 what kind of sin are you committing
01:29:35.520 like these days? Like I can
01:29:37.520 struggle with pride. I struggle with frustration.
01:29:39.920 You know, I can struggle with like
01:29:41.180 driving by the person, the
01:29:43.520 homeless person and like looking at them and
01:29:45.120 driving past them and not doing anything about it. 1.00
01:29:47.440 Like not serving the homeless. I can be selfish.
01:29:49.600 Is that a sin?
01:29:51.320 Well, Jesus says in Matthew chapter 25, 0.99
01:29:53.380 he says the way you would treat the least of these,
01:29:55.420 you would treat me. And so if I like
01:29:57.460 pass by a homeless person, just again, my
01:29:59.400 personal conviction, like I
01:30:00.480 feel like dang, like I would
01:30:02.440 there's a lot of homeless people yeah it's like you're on like the marijuana of sins
01:30:06.480 like it's pretty chill but it gives me like so much hope because right as a christian
01:30:11.540 we get to be the answer to these problems like we get to be wow i get to help the homeless and i get
01:30:16.680 to visit the prisoners in prison i get to help the widows and i get to be a part of people's
01:30:21.160 stories like that gives me so much hope and purpose and meaning and i'm glad that god allows
01:30:26.040 me to do that you know um but like the days that i try hard like oh i got like i gotta be a good
01:30:32.160 husband and i can't i can't like get an ego i don't want to get an ego i don't want to be
01:30:34.980 selfish like i gotta be like trip yourself those are yeah those are the days that i fall flat on
01:30:38.740 my face but when my eyes are here like it doesn't matter what people are saying about me or how many
01:30:43.060 things i got on the agenda list today because when my eyes are here he's just guiding my steps man
01:30:47.820 and i i just think that's the goal you know no i feel like such a loser no mike you're not and by
01:30:55.580 the way that you expressing that is probably why you mentioned you also feel unworthy at the
01:30:59.900 beginning of the podcast it's like bro i just know like jelly roll said when he was on our show
01:31:04.800 like i asked him about like you know him liking weed and stuff like that and he's like dude i'm
01:31:09.900 not doing or i'm not selling fentanyl anymore i'm not in prison like i look back at my old life and
01:31:14.880 i know that the person i am today is better than the person i was yesterday and i'll just continue
01:31:18.800 like doing that you know what i'm saying one to ten i think i said eight what about you
01:31:23.080 i'm a 10 but not off of ego just confidence right salvation comes from jesus so i'm confident yeah
01:31:29.240 And that's where, and I said, that's where I'm supposed to be because I've accepted
01:31:32.460 him into my heart.
01:31:33.300 And I, I, but like, do I have doubts?
01:31:35.780 Absolutely.
01:31:36.700 Absolutely.
01:31:37.060 I have doubts because I'm a human being.
01:31:38.900 Like I have doubts, uh, in terms of you, like, am I doing what I'm supposed to be
01:31:44.020 doing?
01:31:44.560 It should I be, is, is Jesus really real?
01:31:46.820 You know, sometimes I have those moments and what was, what was, what was a moment
01:31:51.520 that that happened?
01:31:52.560 Was there something that catalyzed that?
01:31:54.060 And I just remember, like, this happened a couple months ago.
01:31:59.040 You know, I had had the, I've had an encounter at Waffle House.
01:32:02.580 I've had other supernatural encounters from then.
01:32:05.320 And like, I just went on like a year where like, I didn't quote unquote feel God.
01:32:09.300 And I just got to a place where I'm like, am I doing something wrong?
01:32:12.080 Am I numb?
01:32:13.020 Are you even real?
01:32:14.220 Like, what is going on?
01:32:15.420 Am I, am I, am I wasting my life?
01:32:17.560 Like, what if I'm doing the wrong thing?
01:32:19.360 You know, and then you just go down the rabbit hole.
01:32:20.840 I'm a big overthinker.
01:32:22.020 I'm a big overthinker.
01:32:22.860 like I'll apologize 10 times for something I shouldn't be apologizing for. Like I could have
01:32:26.080 tripped over that rug and be like, dude, Logan, I'm so sorry. Like 20 times you'd be like,
01:32:29.860 stop apologizing. I just do that. You know what I mean? I'm a big overthinker, but like the thing
01:32:35.560 that when I, when I close my eyes, I know it sounds silly. I don't think you have to close
01:32:38.960 your eyes to pray, but when I close my eyes, it just eliminates any distraction and I can focus
01:32:44.260 on Jesus. And it just like gets me through, you know, I don't know how to explain it. Just bringing
01:32:49.960 it to him and being like, man, God, I'm praying right now. And I think those moments where it's
01:32:53.620 like, oh, I don't feel like I have faith, but I keep praying. I have faith. The moments I don't
01:32:57.780 feel God, I don't feel like I have faith, but I keep picking up my Bible. Man, I got faith. And
01:33:01.160 in fact, Jesus is closer to me than I would imagine, even though I can't feel him.
01:33:05.320 Let me ask you this. Okay. Where do extraterrestrials fit into God and Christianity?
01:33:12.980 You know, okay. Like I think when we talk about aliens, first of all, I was extremely let down
01:33:17.780 by the UFO files released by the government.
01:33:20.000 Total letdown.
01:33:20.740 What do you mean it's a dot in the sky?
01:33:21.920 I could have made that with ChatGPT.
01:33:23.300 What are we doing?
01:33:26.540 They're pretty underwhelming with their files.
01:33:28.580 It was really sad.
01:33:29.780 You see tons of files out there.
01:33:33.980 I think there was more that people were expecting
01:33:36.380 from a files release standpoint.
01:33:39.560 But anyways, what were you saying?
01:33:41.180 I'm right there with you.
01:33:46.020 He's up to something, bro.
01:33:47.280 he's being weird bro it's okay do you need to stand up i know you're getting on up there it's
01:33:52.480 we could take a stretch that was unnecessary but no go ahead where are you at with the aliens
01:33:57.900 uh you know i so i think if we're talking about like the green alien that like is flying in the
01:34:03.980 ufo like one one of the parts of the definition of being made in the image of god means that we
01:34:09.660 are a sub creator to the creator we have a sign of intelligence we create things creativity and
01:34:14.240 things like that so if an alien like that exists and they have intelligent mind then they would
01:34:20.540 have to be submitted to god in some way shape or form because god is the god of the universe now
01:34:25.540 do i think aliens could be real yes my opinion do i think that they're the green guy no my question
01:34:30.660 is why were we exploring the ocean and then nasa decided to start exploring space that's my question
01:34:36.560 what's down there that they're not telling there's a lot of stuff we don't know about the ocean
01:34:40.760 It's a great unsearched frontier.
01:34:44.240 Do you know who Bob Lazar is?
01:34:46.360 I watched that documentary on Netflix when I was in the seventh grade.
01:34:49.080 It terrified me.
01:34:50.000 I literally thought the FBI was going to come after me for a solid week after I watched it
01:34:54.320 because they busted on him five times in on the house while they were filming it.
01:34:58.720 And I was like, shoot, they're going to come for me.
01:35:00.160 They're tracking my iPad right now.
01:35:02.540 Yeah, he said one of the UFOs that he worked on,
01:35:06.020 I think it was the UFO that he worked on, the sport model,
01:35:08.320 was recovered from the bottom of the ocean, it seems,
01:35:11.880 or some sort of naval dig.
01:35:15.880 Yeah.
01:35:16.180 Which, I guess, I also agree to your point.
01:35:19.080 I think the oceans...
01:35:21.180 Sounds like, certainly, Donald Trump even corroborated this,
01:35:25.780 a source, a bit of like a nest for a craft
01:35:30.500 that we can't describe how it moves and does what it does.
01:35:33.500 Yeah, I like entertaining the idea.
01:35:36.740 It's kind of fun to me.
01:35:37.480 I love entertaining the idea, by the way.
01:35:39.520 This is a topic I love.
01:35:41.200 And it's interesting because, like, man, you know,
01:35:44.540 hopefully in our lifetime we'll have some sort of breakthrough
01:35:47.760 where we're told we aren't alone in the universe.
01:35:52.200 But beyond that, it's some proof or some explanation.
01:35:57.820 Because you'd think if there's a higher intelligence of sorts,
01:36:03.340 whether it is like a terrestrial or like a being,
01:36:05.920 like a three-dimensional being
01:36:07.660 or like even interdimensional
01:36:09.280 like even Mike and I
01:36:10.380 are working on
01:36:10.920 interdimensional travel
01:36:12.400 you're talking about
01:36:12.920 like Bigfoot Sasquatch
01:36:13.960 being interdimensional
01:36:14.420 no no no
01:36:15.060 I'm talking about
01:36:15.540 interdimensional
01:36:16.100 oh you guys are working on that
01:36:17.940 well we think we can
01:36:18.280 flip the electrons
01:36:18.900 and pass through dimensions
01:36:20.020 oh hell yeah
01:36:20.580 we're not quite there
01:36:22.280 more dark matter
01:36:22.880 I mean when you guys
01:36:23.640 get a hold of that machine
01:36:24.640 send it away
01:36:25.340 yeah we got you
01:36:26.440 we're just not sure
01:36:27.340 when the electrons are flipped
01:36:28.700 if you flip
01:36:29.200 vertically and your feet
01:36:31.400 are on top
01:36:32.060 or your face is on the back
01:36:32.940 are you not nervous
01:36:33.680 to meet like another
01:36:34.440 dimensional version of yourself
01:36:36.340 I don't really know what's going on.
01:36:39.760 You mean in general?
01:36:40.860 Yeah, in general.
01:36:41.560 I don't need to be honest.
01:36:42.620 The point is, imagine there's a higher intelligence. 1.00
01:36:46.140 And he's gay. 0.99
01:36:47.880 That's where he was going. 1.00
01:36:49.900 And I got to preach?
01:36:50.940 Yeah.
01:36:54.300 And we say like, hey, man, what is all this?
01:36:59.080 What are we?
01:36:59.860 What are you?
01:37:00.640 What is the point of all this?
01:37:01.940 He goes, bucko, I got you.
01:37:03.860 and then he lays out an explanation
01:37:06.280 and in that
01:37:08.600 explanation
01:37:09.200 he says nothing
01:37:12.480 about God
01:37:13.100 let me ask you this question
01:37:16.000 why can't I
01:37:18.600 ask a question on a podcast
01:37:20.160 this is a thought experiment
01:37:24.140 what if the alien
01:37:25.120 what if you found the alien
01:37:26.100 he came up to and he said
01:37:27.180 in English it said
01:37:30.700 here are all the reasons
01:37:32.040 no here's all the reasons why god does exist like why is your explanation always i'm no god i'm just
01:37:37.980 why couldn't they come and be like here's the proof of god i'll tell you why i'll tell you why
01:37:42.020 because i asked this exact question maybe not exact i asked a similar question to stewart
01:37:48.480 connectly and then he like yielded i thought this wasn't i thought this was incredible he's like
01:37:55.080 really yeah and i guess i'd have to then uh rethink my beliefs about what i think god
01:37:59.080 yes he did whatever he said whatever he said was like a yield like well yeah i guess i'd have to
01:38:04.640 reconsider things no more than us yeah because that would be like a new introduction to something
01:38:08.660 we have no knowledge well what if they have their own bible that alien bible so so let me ask this
01:38:12.600 is a crazy the point of the question is i thought it was kind of cool that like to me being glued to
01:38:19.800 your beliefs just because it's what you believe even though that might not be the truth uh is
01:38:27.720 kind of silly and i'm not saying that about christianity or anything i just think that's
01:38:30.320 like a general a general thing so if someone provides evidence to you that proves the opposite
01:38:34.500 of what you think the ability to be a man or a mature person say maybe i was wrong i don't know
01:38:41.240 it was just like it was like it's it it makes your beliefs i believe more authentic because
01:38:46.560 you're not going to die on the hill if you get disproven yeah i mean i think you know i can't
01:38:52.640 100 prove god but i just have to look where the evidence lands but you know the thing i was going
01:38:56.660 to ask you what the alien was let's say a higher intelligence alien comes to you and lays it all
01:39:02.280 out yeah and he says homosexuality is a sin yes would you believe it i would if if if i believed
01:39:14.540 it i would have to accept that this thing has some sort of some sort of universal truth or like
01:39:24.580 power that is that is god-like or that he has some sort of say about my life and humanity in
01:39:33.180 general so if you're willing to accept it from an alien then why is it hard for you to accept
01:39:38.220 if god has that standard according to scripture well because in this hypothetical i'm approached
01:39:42.280 by i'm okay but it's a good question because like because like in some ways like aliens are i think
01:39:51.580 kind of, some people worship them as gods.
01:39:54.060 Is it not crazy to you that
01:39:55.740 we could call the Bible almost
01:39:57.820 extraterrestrial? I mean, we're talking about the
01:39:59.740 odds that this leather-bound book,
01:40:01.580 66 books, 40 different authors,
01:40:04.240 three continents, 1,500 years,
01:40:05.860 has over 66,000 cross-references.
01:40:08.280 That is almost impossible to get all 40
01:40:09.860 authors in the same room to do that in one sitting.
01:40:12.420 That is almost impossible.
01:40:14.140 That book is supernatural.
01:40:16.840 And if it lays the law
01:40:17.840 down, it's like,
01:40:18.700 oh heck no but the green alien 0.99
01:40:21.760 it's like coming in you know like I understand
01:40:23.480 like if an alien popped down on me I'd be like oh
01:40:25.520 snap. I guess my like
01:40:27.800 the contrarian in me
01:40:29.720 would say like it can turn
01:40:31.720 over 2,000 years
01:40:33.700 it can turn into a bit of a game of telephone
01:40:35.540 like perhaps some of this stuff isn't translated the right
01:40:37.780 way or some of the
01:40:39.720 authors are contradictory I don't
01:40:41.340 I don't fucking know. Have you ever been to the Bible
01:40:43.620 museum in DC? No. If you get the
01:40:45.700 chance like please go. I'm actually going to DC
01:40:47.500 in a week or two.
01:40:49.780 Dude, I can totally set it up if you want.
01:40:51.900 What is it now? 0.98
01:40:52.500 So it's a Bible museum.
01:40:53.580 So it's history of how the Bible was formed and made.
01:40:56.160 I would love to go see that.
01:40:57.580 And genuinely, the evidence of how many manuscripts we have.
01:41:01.480 So what I would say is we call it transmission, the preservation of the narrative.
01:41:05.760 The narrative has never changed.
01:41:07.720 But we have one word in the English language for love, and they have five words in Greek.
01:41:11.880 You see what I'm saying?
01:41:12.620 So the preservation of the message has remained the same.
01:41:15.840 and it's just a fun museum
01:41:17.900 but that's something you guys want to do.
01:41:19.160 I think it's awesome.
01:41:19.980 I think the history of all this stuff is incredible.
01:41:21.800 I think Christianity is such an amazing thing
01:41:24.440 because it ultimately I believe is like net positive
01:41:27.820 and there's nothing wrong with living the best life you can
01:41:30.260 under the best principles you possibly can
01:41:32.180 and trying to lead the best life possible
01:41:34.140 and be the best person possible
01:41:35.280 and spreading positivity to try to get into heaven.
01:41:38.220 I think that's amazing.
01:41:40.240 Yeah.
01:41:41.700 Mike, you keep grinning over there.
01:41:43.500 I have a manager right here.
01:41:45.160 He's like, gotta go, man, gotta go right in.
01:41:46.920 We're supposed to be doing something, and he's got a flight. 1.00
01:41:49.280 So I'm like doing that, the gay aliens all at once. 1.00
01:41:53.780 And what I want to say as an ender here is that there's a word involved in the Christian religion 1.00
01:42:00.080 and in all religions, and that word is faith,
01:42:03.240 and that not everything is brought to you on a silver platter.
01:42:07.020 You just got to believe it, dude.
01:42:08.440 And if you're always looking for reasons to not believe,
01:42:13.020 then you'll find reasons to not believe.
01:42:15.440 I try to find reasons to believe
01:42:17.300 and try to find the things that God has done for me in my life
01:42:23.800 and I look at those things.
01:42:25.120 And I'm better at that than I am at believing in myself
01:42:28.140 and some of the things that he's really good at.
01:42:30.220 So I think like, you know.
01:42:31.480 By the way, I'm just fucking asking questions.
01:42:32.920 No, no, no, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what you're doing.
01:42:36.420 I'm just saying that you will, you know what they say,
01:42:39.980 with the mind and in life in general, you'll find what you look for.
01:42:42.780 So if you look for one thing, you're going to find it.
01:42:45.520 I try to look for the ways that God is helping me and leading me to a better place.
01:42:49.120 And so I encourage you all to do the same.
01:42:50.720 And I know you're already doing it.
01:42:51.940 So I love you, Bryce.
01:42:53.720 Thanks, guys.
01:42:53.980 I love you guys.
01:42:54.680 And I'll be praying for you guys.
01:42:55.980 And in the meantime, as y'all are on your spiritual journey, we can come together, build a time capsule for the aliens of like old vines and stuff like that all in there.
01:43:05.880 If they find it, Lunchly's in there.
01:43:09.080 It's all in there.
01:43:10.240 Yeah, yeah.
01:43:10.560 Would you like to end on a prayer?
01:43:12.600 I'd like to do a prayer with you, Bryce.
01:43:13.920 I would love to.
01:43:14.680 I would love to pray for you guys.
01:43:16.080 Can you lead it?
01:43:17.380 Yeah, I would love to do that.
01:43:18.360 Yeah, absolutely.
01:43:20.120 Jesus, thank you so much for today, God.
01:43:21.560 Thank you for Logan and Mike and their whole team.
01:43:24.360 God, I just ask that you continue to reveal yourself to them.
01:43:26.860 I mean, Jesus, I believe that you're the truth,
01:43:28.440 and I just want you to continue to guide them and lead them.
01:43:30.300 Would you bring peace in their lives?
01:43:32.680 Lord Jesus, would you just continue to bless them, bless their travels,
01:43:35.640 bless their families and their friends, and, Lord, protect them, be with them,
01:43:38.680 guide them.
01:43:39.600 We love you, Jesus.
