On this episode of the 21st on 21 podcast, John talks about the amazing people who came out to support us yesterday and today, and how we are going out on the road today with our petition drive with the folks from Edmonton and Red Deer.
00:13:35.560And all of these people here for the Alberta independence movement.
00:13:39.380And I can't stress it enough how nice the people are that we've met here today.
00:13:45.820just salt of the earth Albertans coming together for a common cause. You know, we've run into a
00:13:53.060few people who have yelled a few things at us today, had a discussion with an older man here
00:13:57.620who believes that patriotism is a reason for us to stay in Canada. I've said many times that
00:14:03.900I think that's going to be the number one thing that we have to fight during the independence
00:14:10.540movement. How do you get around the patriotism thing? Well, we have to just keep talking to
00:14:15.840people, getting out there, telling them what we're all about, what we need, what we want,
00:14:21.480what Alberta needs, how Alberta has been abused by the rest of Canada. And I think we'll get our
00:14:28.720message across eventually, and we'll get our win in the fall when we get a referendum question.
00:14:33.160But it's days like this that really, really show you how wonderful
00:14:37.760um this movement is and if you're not part of it and you haven't been out to one of these things
00:14:43.880you need to come out because it certainly is a hell of a lot of fun
00:14:49.340so we're doing a double interview here at the same time john from talking
00:14:55.760is your beautiful wife well nice to meet you i'll shake your hand in just a second0.75
00:15:00.220talking to albertans with us and and we can kind of interview each other at the same time i know
00:15:04.720talk to albertans but if you ever talk to albertans well we're going to talk to albertans yeah this
00:15:11.840is kind of weird this is kind of strange first off uh thanks for coming out today nice to see
00:15:15.920you again we last saw you uh when you came by the bouncy castle in calgary how are you seeing
00:15:21.760how are you seeing things going and i've noticed you've been talking to indigenous people good for
00:15:25.440you and what are you hearing from them i i know people have watched your videos but just your
00:15:29.120thoughts on that yeah i mean well like i say i said a few things on x's for people and uh they're
00:15:34.720like oh yeah indigenous people don't support this and then i'm like wait a minute here's like a
00:15:39.920whole bunch of accounts that do and so then i just kind of randomly put it out there started talking
00:15:44.640like hey come talk to me so kate uh i'm gonna get the name wrong on x katie rocks or something like
00:15:52.400christy's her name she's in my video yeah uh then she's like reached out to me let's make a video
00:15:57.200and you know what a lot of indigenous people support this that's another voice that that
00:16:02.820people need to hear right and so i don't want to speak for them i let them speak so here are the
00:16:08.340whistle stop cafe just outside mirror alberta burda proud dad with me an honor to meet you sir
00:16:13.960um first time meeting you and bumping into you i i come across youtubers and social media people
00:16:19.680and influencers uh you're one of the best thanks for talking to me here today uh you came in from
00:16:24.740calgary today yes sir what are your thoughts on what we're seeing here today and and overall the
00:16:29.000independence movement as we move forward into the kind of the end of the signature campaign
00:16:33.040well you know what it's it's kind of got his own legs right and the thing is is what people don't
00:16:37.680understand about me is i haven't always been part of the independence movement i supported a more i
00:16:42.500was like daniel smith i supported you know sovereign alberta within united canada and that's what i
00:16:46.680wanted until we started seeing floor crossers and it was at that moment you know and you know a lot1.00
00:16:51.860of people were ahead of me on that and uh believe it or not and the thing is is i said canada's over
00:16:56.520you know democracy's done it's finished right so i i i jumped all in on alberta independence
00:17:01.420um a lot of people from all over because i have followers from all over they they kind of said
00:17:06.240what are you doing you're turning your back on the conservative movement and doing all this
00:17:09.180you know you really have to find your your line in the sand and that's what happened and since then
00:17:14.880what i've seen is you know a brotherhood a sisterhood we've seen community we've seen people
00:17:19.720you know from all walks of life whether they're you know immigrants that you know their parents
00:17:23.960are immigrants or they're first nations people or from wherever they're from they're getting
00:17:29.220behind this because it makes sense you can't actually look out the back door and what is
00:17:34.160canada today versus what it used to be and say that you know there's not corruption or scandal
00:17:39.480or or it's not harder on your life anymore you just can't i think it's awesome i think we've
00:17:44.900We've got a great bunch of people who now come out and they lend their support, both knocking doors, visiting people's homes, doing these pop-ups, but also rallying the troops, bringing up the morale.
00:17:55.220I mean, it's a cold out here and we need a little boost.
00:17:58.320And you guys have been more than helpful to make that happen.
00:18:00.740You obviously have some fun with this.
00:18:03.900And I think it was Corey Morgan said to me a few weeks back, we did an event down in Southeast Calgary.
00:18:09.380He said, John, we need to have more fun doing this because it's a long slog.
00:18:12.440We're getting into three months now when it comes to the petition campaign, maybe another month.
00:18:16.700Who knows? But then after that, there'll be five or six more months if we get a question on a referendum.
00:18:21.920We need things like this. We need people like you to have some fun and, you know, kind of have a laugh about this, but be serious at the same time, I guess.
00:18:30.480Well, it's a serious topic, but at the same time, I think only Ottawa would do things serious the whole time.
00:18:36.900Yeah. Yeah. But where can people find you?
00:18:39.740You can find me at MrAlberto on all the platforms.
