00:00:00.040 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. Great to have you along. It is 6.09 p.m. April the 23rd.
00:00:06.380 You're going to be seeing this on the 24th early in the morning. I do have my big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:12.000 Enjoying it tonight. It is tasting oh so sweet. And as you can see, I've got my Wexit hat on today because this is some big news, folks.
00:00:20.480 We want you to share this with as many people as possible. If you're in Alberta, let people know about this.
00:00:27.980 And I'd like to welcome to the channel once again, Jivan Mangat, who is the interim leader of the Wild Rose Independence Party of Alberta.
00:00:37.720 Jivan, great to have you here today with some exciting news.
00:00:41.680 Yes, John, this is very exciting for me and for others.
00:00:46.860 And thank you for inviting me onto your channel and speaking about this event that we will be holding on May the 3rd.
00:00:53.380 So let me ask you, how long have you been involved in the independence movement, Jivan, before we give people all the details on what's happening on the 3rd of May?
00:01:01.280 Well, not to give my age away, but I've been, you know, thinking about independence since Trudeau introduced the National Energy Program in 1982.
00:01:13.940 And I've never, ever thought politically until at that point because I just finished university and Pierre Trudeau introduces this horrific policy that totally favors Quebec and Ontario, mainly, mainly Quebec, trying to kill the industry in Alberta.
00:01:33.360 And in 1982, when he introduced the program and the export taxes started to kick in, the companies left within a week.
00:01:44.280 They went back to the U.S.
00:01:45.920 It's too expensive doing business here.
00:01:48.420 We can make more money in the U.S.
00:01:50.480 Massive unemployment in Alberta at that time.
00:01:54.100 People sold their homes for a dollar.
00:01:56.000 I mean, who does that?
00:01:58.280 Which head of state tries to destroy the economic engine of their country?
00:02:06.340 Unless they hate the people.
00:02:08.160 Well, you know, I wasn't in Alberta at the time, but I know I've been here for over for the last 10 years, 12 years now.
00:02:14.820 And the Liberal Party has been strangling our province and put us in the situation we're in right now.
00:02:20.120 I think with Donald Trump, I put the blame on them.
00:02:22.100 We wouldn't be at the whim of Trump in the United States right now if it wasn't for the Liberals.
00:02:27.140 And a big part of that has been strangling our oil and gas, our industry, and sucking the lifeblood out of Alberta to feed the rest of the country.
00:02:34.580 So I haven't been involved in this very long.
00:02:36.980 I've said on this channel, Jeevan, a number of times that Alberta independence is closer than you think.
00:02:42.940 May 3rd must be a huge day for you.
00:02:45.220 Tell us what's happening that day.
00:02:46.520 We are holding a rally for independence at the Alberta legislature in Edmonton at 1 p.m.
00:02:55.880 Hopefully we get to start on time.
00:02:58.260 And we're hoping before 3 o'clock it's over, maximum time we're aligning ourselves as an hour and a half.
00:03:04.800 And we're just spreading the word starting today.
00:03:08.540 We just got our speakers lined up and we just made our poster announcement.
00:03:14.000 So we're spreading it out on social media, hopefully to get, you know, as maybe five, six hundred people there, which will be great.
00:03:22.420 And in my opinion, no matter who wins, you know, Pierre Paulyac could win.
00:03:27.040 But it will not change anything for our burdens.
00:03:31.640 We will be burdened with supply management, with equalization payments, with bilingualism, with no triple E Senate.
00:03:40.120 Any policy the Liberals introduce, and the Conservatives have to cater to the Laurentian elites to stay in power.
00:03:48.600 Otherwise, there'll be a very short term for them, and it could be a minority government.
00:03:53.260 I would think that independence is closer if the Liberals get in again, seeing what I just mentioned about the last 10 years.
00:04:00.400 So I think probably, and we don't want to wish the worst on the rest of Canada, because I think the Liberals are going to be a nightmare for them.
00:04:07.940 But certainly, independence will be closer if the Liberals get in again.
00:04:11.660 Would you agree with that?
00:04:13.520 Well, much so.
00:04:15.020 And, you know, if, and people are waiting for that.
00:04:18.100 People in Alberta are seeing if the Liberals get in power.
00:04:22.260 A paradigm shift could occur.
00:04:24.280 I mean, polling is always, the last few months have been showing 25 to 30 percent.
00:04:29.880 And Rachel, Rachel Emanuel Parker, on her YouTube channel, headed up to 40 percent on her polling, which is very high.
00:04:41.500 I mean, you didn't even see that in the early 80s.
00:04:44.880 Gordon Castro, when he won, was the first independent MLA.
00:04:47.760 I believe, at that point, it was maybe up to 30 percent.
00:04:52.700 So we're garnering momentum.
00:04:56.040 And this is one of the ideas that, you know, this is why we're having the rally, is to ensure this movement, this momentum keeps on and on.
00:05:07.400 And, you know, maybe the momentum will be a little less if Kaliyev got selected.
00:05:15.300 It's going to be a lot more if the Liberals get elected because people have seen the policies they've introduced since 2015.
00:05:25.600 It's so damaging.
00:05:27.560 Like, why do that?
00:05:29.760 It baffles me.
00:05:30.980 The only way is to get them out, let's get out of independence, and we can be in control of our own destiny.
00:05:39.460 So who is going to be there that day?
00:05:41.020 Who is speaking?
00:05:43.220 Other than you and me?
00:05:44.400 Okay.
00:05:45.160 Well, let me just say, thank you very much.
00:05:47.660 I will be the master of ceremonies for the day.
00:05:50.160 So thanks very much for asking.
00:05:51.680 I'm pretty excited about that.
00:05:53.620 Who else is going to be there?
00:05:55.240 And thank you for accepting the invitation, John.
00:05:58.380 That is very kind of you.
00:06:00.160 And I know people will give up their time on that Saturday.
00:06:05.340 We have David Laskowski speaking.
00:06:08.380 David has been a political activist since 1982.
00:06:13.040 He was an area coordinator with the Reform Party and was the national vice president of the Canadian Alliance Party,
00:06:21.500 which was a forerunner to the Reform Party.
00:06:25.160 He was on the interim joint council of the Conservative Party of Canada.
00:06:30.160 And as the co-chair of the Constitutional Committee, David authored the first constitution of the new party when they merged.
00:06:40.760 He will be speaking on the subject of numerous referendums in BC and unifying to achieve freedom goals in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
00:06:52.320 So he's very well-versed in these subjects.
00:06:57.540 And, you know, long-time activist.
00:07:00.600 I can't wait till David speaks and delivers his words.
00:07:05.460 Okay.
00:07:05.960 And then we also have the great Michael Wagner.
00:07:11.360 And Michael, as you know, is a historian.
00:07:14.720 An Alberta historian, an Alberta historian, has written three books on Alberta's separation.
00:07:20.660 The two books I have is Alberta's separation then and now.
00:07:24.440 A great book gives you the history of separation in Alberta, why it occurred, and what the failures have been in the past, and what should not fail in the future.
00:07:37.460 He, Michael, is an independent researcher and writer, and a columnist for the Western Standard.
00:07:45.560 He has written three books.
00:07:46.940 As I said before, I've got two of them about Alberta independence.
00:07:50.960 And he has a PhD in political science from the University of Calgary.
00:07:55.380 He will be speaking, his topic is, Canada cannot be fixed.
00:08:02.140 Time for Alberta independence.
00:08:04.240 Okay.
00:08:04.700 And who else?
00:08:05.580 And he's always so good, so great to hear his opinions because I love history.
00:08:11.780 And I love discovering what the past was, what happened.
00:08:15.960 He is very well, he's a good expert on that, a great expert.
00:08:21.660 Okay.
00:08:22.420 Then we have Bill Jones.
00:08:23.800 Bill Jones is a local Edmontonian, has lived in Edmonton forever.
00:08:29.960 He is an economist, a political theorist, and an entrepreneur.
00:08:34.420 He has his own business.
00:08:36.080 Bill has great insight on how independence should be achieved, what the pathway is, what we have to do.
00:08:47.260 And he plays a game of patience, and he knows that independence is not going to be achieved overnight.
00:08:55.420 Here is what we have to do.
00:08:57.480 So, I can't wait to hear Bill speak.
00:09:00.500 I've heard him speak on a couple of occasions on different matters.
00:09:05.680 Great speaker.
00:09:07.060 Good stuff.
00:09:08.400 Yes.
00:09:08.720 And of course, I mean, a lot of the stars of the day will be the people that show up.
00:09:13.580 You know, if you're an Albertan and you're watching this channel right now, the last video we did, G-Van, we had, I don't know, 70,000 people watched it, which was quite amazing.
00:09:21.680 But if you're an Albertan and you're interested and you can be there that day, let me know in the comments below.
00:09:25.560 That would give us some idea of what the interest is in this.
00:09:28.920 But we need as many people out there as possible who are interested in Alberta independence.
00:09:32.820 And we want some people who are Canadians, who consider themselves Canadians as well.
00:09:36.620 So, we can convince you it's time to get out.
00:09:40.780 You know, what's the old saying, those that don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it?
00:09:45.280 Well, you said you were back in 1982 during the National Energy Program.
00:09:49.640 That's quite a pass that's going back over 40 years.
00:09:51.940 I think it's time we get a little respect here in Alberta and, well, big change could be coming and it's starting on May 3rd.
00:10:00.880 Pretty exciting.
00:10:02.040 Yes.
00:10:02.460 And, John, no change occurs without risk and courage.
00:10:09.580 And, you know, you need to have courage to think about a paradigm shift that will occur in your lifetime in this country.
00:10:19.360 And I often think about pioneers that came to this great province.
00:10:26.240 They, you know, they built their own homes.
00:10:28.600 They made sure they grew their own food, fed themselves.
00:10:31.820 Some were dropped here in minus 40 weather.
00:10:35.860 They had to wait out all winter before they could start their life.
00:10:40.180 So, in honor of pioneers that left out this great province, we need to leave a greater province for our children and grandchildren so they are not mired into the politics of trying to satisfy the Laurentian elites.
00:10:57.880 That's what we need.
00:10:58.720 So, let me ask you this, will people be able to find out this information at the website?
00:11:04.100 Can they do that?
00:11:06.040 So, we're on our website, yes, we should have it up tomorrow.
00:11:10.220 And we're passing on this announcement on social media quite a bit.
00:11:15.660 We're asking as many people as possible to share the announcement.
00:11:20.820 I will be sharing it tomorrow.
00:11:23.620 I usually like to give it a few hours before I start making big announcements.
00:11:29.180 Yeah, yeah.
00:11:29.620 I'm just a little cautious that way.
00:11:31.780 And I know the rest of our, we have a subcommittee that's worked on this.
00:11:37.300 They've already started to propose this.
00:11:39.540 And it's a non-partisan event, right?
00:11:41.980 This is very important.
00:11:43.520 I want people to hear this.
00:11:44.680 The speakers are from all walks of life.
00:11:48.660 We're not promoting any political party, even though I'm one of the speakers.
00:11:53.740 But I'm speaking on behalf of independence, not on behalf of the Wildwoods Independence Party of Alberta.
00:12:00.440 So, I will be touching on subjects as bilingualism, equalization payments, and a little bit about the Laurentian elites.
00:12:11.080 Well, I'm looking for 10 to 15 minutes.
00:12:13.420 Well, you know, I'm looking forward to it again.
00:12:15.660 It's May 3rd, 1 to 3 p.m. at the legislature.
00:12:19.620 I hope to see everybody there.
00:12:21.060 Let's get a lot of people out there, if you're interested in Alberta independence.
00:12:25.240 And I know that a lot are.
00:12:27.380 I went out six, seven years ago, and there were more than 1,000 people who popped out on a cold day in North Calgary to talk about independence.
00:12:36.160 I think we should have a lot of people at the legislature that day.
00:12:39.620 G-Van, thank you so much for being part of this.
00:12:42.020 Thanks very much for being on the channel.
00:12:44.100 Again, thanks for inviting me to be there as well.
00:12:46.260 And we'll talk to you again soon.
00:12:47.400 We'll have you back on, okay?
00:12:49.520 Pleasure, John.
00:12:50.180 Thank you.
00:12:50.960 Thanks for watching.
