00:00:00.280 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It's 8.32 p.m. Tuesday, June the 24th.
00:00:06.720 I've got my big blue mug, but no coffee. Too late for coffee.
00:00:10.520 And if I'm looking a little bit tired right now, well, you'd feel tired too if you'd been up since 3.30 in the morning
00:00:15.400 when I normally do my videos. I normally don't do videos this late at night,
00:00:19.420 but I felt compelled to do this this evening
00:00:22.040 because I just watched a report from Rebel News on YouTube
00:00:26.840 from Angelica Toy is her name.
00:00:31.420 She's the Alberta reporter for Rebel.
00:00:34.200 And she was at sort of a follow-up dinner for the Republican Party of Alberta
00:00:38.680 or the Alberta Republicans, whatever they call themselves now.
00:00:41.040 I don't know.
00:00:42.140 Because last night was the by-election, three by-elections,
00:00:45.180 and the one in Olds Didsbury-Three Hills had Cameron Davies,
00:00:48.360 the leader of the Alberta Republicans, running, and he came third
00:00:50.880 with 17% of the vote behind the winner, Tara Sawyer of the UCP and an NDPer.
00:00:57.440 Which isn't a good showing.
00:00:59.800 So I watched this whole report, and I watched Ms. Toy interview Cam Davies.
00:01:06.620 And I don't know Mr. Davies. I don't know who he is.
00:01:08.640 Could be a perfectly fine gentleman, but it was weird.
00:01:13.280 Really weird.
00:01:16.280 I have interviewed thousands of people.
00:01:18.660 I'm a radio broadcaster. That was my profession.
00:01:21.660 And I've interviewed thousands of people.
00:01:24.460 I've done it in studios.
00:01:25.880 I've done it with microphones.
00:01:27.240 I've done it in front of cameras.
00:01:28.520 I've done it on the radio.
00:01:29.640 And never have I seen somebody being interviewed
00:01:32.840 never look at me once while I was talking to them.
00:01:36.260 But Cam Davies stood while Ms. Toy was interviewing him
00:01:39.300 like an automaton.
00:01:40.480 Like he was programmed.
00:01:41.380 Like somebody had pushed play,
00:01:43.540 and he had a pre-programmed loop
00:01:45.780 that he was running in his head.
00:01:47.000 It was very strange.
00:01:49.260 Now, if I were in Olds Didsbury,
00:01:53.420 I would not have voted for this man,
00:01:55.580 because I've had misgivings about this party
00:01:57.460 since I first heard about them.
00:02:00.220 It didn't really make sense to me.
00:02:02.080 I wouldn't have voted for this party.
00:02:05.240 I would have voted UCP.
00:02:07.100 First off, because I don't want to divide the vote.
00:02:08.980 I don't want the NDP to come up the middle
00:02:11.660 and win anything.
00:02:13.000 And I think that's what Cam Davies
00:02:14.860 and his Alberta Republicans are going to do
00:02:16.960 if they run candidates in the next provincial election.
00:02:22.260 I got up this morning,
00:02:24.220 and I wanted to see what happened in the by-elections.
00:02:28.040 This one in particular.
00:02:29.800 Olds Didsbury Three Hills because of Cam Davies.
00:02:34.940 And the guy I went to to watch a video
00:02:37.420 and an analysis on this was Corey Morgan.
00:02:39.960 And I'm going to put a link in the description.
00:02:42.460 I'm going to play a short clip of Corey.
00:02:44.880 I don't want to steal his thunder
00:02:46.180 because what he talks about is worth seeing
00:02:48.500 in its entirety,
00:02:50.280 and it's worth sharing with people you know
00:02:52.260 who are a part of the independence movement
00:02:53.780 here in Alberta.
00:02:54.900 You've got to hear the whole thing.
00:02:56.800 I'm going to play a short clip from him
00:02:58.200 in just a moment.
00:02:59.100 I had the good fortune of talking to Corey
00:03:01.060 a number of weeks ago here on this channel.
00:03:03.660 Corey's written the book on this, literally.
00:03:07.380 And I didn't know much about
00:03:10.040 the Alberta Republicans and Cam Davies,
00:03:12.000 but again, I had misgivings about this party.
00:03:15.220 And I brought it up with Corey,
00:03:16.680 and he seemed to be a little bit puzzled
00:03:18.960 by what the hell they were doing.
00:03:20.960 But he did have a prediction
00:03:22.440 about what would happen
00:03:24.140 if that party did not do well
00:03:26.520 in the by-election.
00:03:27.620 And this is what he had to say.
00:03:29.440 I can't understand his motivations.
00:03:31.500 Yeah.
00:03:31.960 I don't either.
00:03:32.800 And that's what I've been trying to figure out.
00:03:34.060 Yeah.
00:03:34.520 Yeah.
00:03:34.780 I'll put it at that.
00:03:35.740 I mean, again, he's smart, well-spoken,
00:03:37.680 and knows the things.
00:03:39.140 He's an organizer.
00:03:39.840 But no, I can't see him take...
00:03:42.520 And just to be blunt,
00:03:44.120 I mean, the thing was too with Cam,
00:03:46.740 he was at a meeting
00:03:47.380 where people were pretty rough on him there.
00:03:50.500 I mean, the guy's got the skin of an alligator,
00:03:52.160 and I'll give him that.
00:03:52.800 You need it for this type of world.
00:03:56.780 But he's just...
00:03:57.860 They're garnering some support in some areas,
00:03:59.760 but for the most part,
00:04:00.660 people are kind of pissed with him.
00:04:02.780 So, again, I'm not sure
00:04:04.800 why you're just plowing on ahead.
00:04:07.400 By the same token,
00:04:08.420 with the old Stithbury writing,
00:04:09.960 though, if they come in
00:04:10.520 with a real terrible show of support,
00:04:12.180 it's going to be bad for the movement as well,
00:04:14.080 because people say,
00:04:14.680 oh, geez, if you can't even do well there,
00:04:17.360 you're not going to do well anywhere,
00:04:18.700 which it's because...
00:04:20.220 And that's kind of the hypothesis.
00:04:21.600 It's in my book.
00:04:22.240 It's what I keep talking about
00:04:23.140 because the party approach
00:04:24.660 isn't the bloody way to do it.
00:04:26.120 And Corey was absolutely right.
00:04:28.580 Here's an article from the National Post
00:04:30.460 from earlier today.
00:04:31.800 It's not great.
00:04:33.080 Alberta independence movement
00:04:34.360 takes hit in Oldsby election.
00:04:36.420 Corey talks about David Parker
00:04:37.960 from Take Back Alberta
00:04:39.120 in his video from earlier today.
00:04:41.580 And the very first paragraph
00:04:43.020 of this article in the National Post,
00:04:44.900 David Parker,
00:04:46.020 the founder of conservative activist group
00:04:47.800 Take Back Alberta,
00:04:48.820 said on Monday morning
00:04:49.980 that by the end of the day,
00:04:51.660 Albertans would know the strength
00:04:52.880 of the province's
00:04:53.640 budding independence movement.
00:04:54.920 Quote,
00:04:56.520 it's not great.
00:04:57.900 Unquote.
00:04:58.760 He tweeted shortly before midnight
00:05:00.520 as the last of the results
00:05:02.220 trickled in from Olds,
00:05:03.680 Didsbury,
00:05:04.220 Three Hills.
00:05:04.680 Now,
00:05:04.960 I happen to disagree with Mr. Parker
00:05:07.900 and I think Corey does as well.
00:05:09.320 This does not,
00:05:10.080 this is not indicative
00:05:11.040 of how the independence movement
00:05:12.380 is doing here in Alberta.
00:05:13.360 I think it's growing.
00:05:14.780 It's indicative of how bad
00:05:16.320 the Republican Party of Alberta is
00:05:18.140 and Cam Davies is.
00:05:19.960 That's what I think
00:05:20.740 this is indicative of.
00:05:22.340 Now,
00:05:22.780 I'm going to give Corey
00:05:23.540 the last say on this.
00:05:24.460 He's got some sage advice
00:05:25.760 for those of you
00:05:26.420 who support
00:05:27.060 the Republican Party of Alberta
00:05:29.420 or whatever they're calling
00:05:30.360 themselves right now.
00:05:31.260 But I wanted to want you
00:05:32.620 to watch a little bit
00:05:33.560 of this interview
00:05:34.280 Angelica Toy did
00:05:36.080 with Cameron Davies,
00:05:37.180 the head of this party.
00:05:39.000 And as I said at the beginning,
00:05:40.440 this is really weird.
00:05:43.060 We're incredibly,
00:05:43.540 incredibly proud
00:05:44.480 of the momentum
00:05:45.520 that we've created so far
00:05:46.780 and we're just getting started.
00:05:49.400 And what would you say
00:05:50.440 to those supporters
00:05:51.120 who may feel discouraged
00:05:52.280 about tonight's results?
00:05:54.080 This is just the beginning.
00:05:55.660 We're fighting for Alberta first,
00:05:58.320 not Alberta next.
00:05:59.880 And so as Albertans get to know us
00:06:01.660 and who we are
00:06:02.360 and what we believe
00:06:03.580 and what we're fighting for,
00:06:05.080 we're encouraging our volunteers
00:06:07.300 and supporters here in the riding.
00:06:09.380 They're the first of many Albertans
00:06:12.360 to check a ballot
00:06:13.800 next to the Alberta Republicans,
00:06:16.020 but they will not be the last.
00:06:17.480 Do the results affect your confidence
00:06:20.080 in any way of the momentum
00:06:21.960 behind Alberta sovereignty?
00:06:23.960 Not at all.
00:06:25.080 There's still a significant number
00:06:26.520 of Albertans
00:06:27.200 who are confused
00:06:29.280 or not sure
00:06:30.580 whether the UCP
00:06:32.120 will support Alberta independence.
00:06:34.780 And I think
00:06:35.440 as more Albertans become aware
00:06:37.660 of the fact that
00:06:38.700 the UCP
00:06:39.960 is going to fight independence
00:06:41.780 every step of the way,
00:06:43.860 they're going to understand
00:06:45.020 that the Republican Party of Alberta
00:06:46.460 is the political home for them.
00:06:49.240 It was a very weird interview.
00:06:51.180 Now, I grant you
00:06:52.080 they do some cover shots
00:06:53.360 where you don't see Cam Davies
00:06:55.260 while he's talking.
00:06:56.140 He may be looking at Ms. Toy,
00:06:57.800 but every time they go to him,
00:06:59.720 it's like a laser focus on the camera,
00:07:01.840 like he was programmed or something.
00:07:03.200 It was very strange.
00:07:04.200 And he doesn't seem to have learned anything
00:07:05.720 from what happened last night.
00:07:08.700 Not at all.
00:07:11.300 Again, this is not an indication
00:07:12.900 of what's happening
00:07:15.280 in the independence movement,
00:07:16.400 which I think is growing
00:07:17.260 here in Alberta.
00:07:18.280 It's an indication
00:07:19.220 of how bad this party is.
00:07:21.360 And Cam Davies
00:07:22.000 better wake up about it.
00:07:23.160 I question
00:07:23.820 his commitment
00:07:25.340 to the independence movement
00:07:26.360 if he continues down this road.
00:07:28.820 I'm going to wrap up right now,
00:07:30.280 but I'm going to leave
00:07:30.800 the final word to Corey Morgan.
00:07:32.220 He's got some advice
00:07:33.020 for people who are following this party.
00:07:35.960 Again, his video,
00:07:37.720 my video with Corey,
00:07:39.540 and I'll put the Rebel News link
00:07:41.120 in the description below.
00:07:42.120 Watch all three videos.
00:07:43.860 Thanks for watching.
00:07:44.700 I do appreciate it.
00:07:45.900 If you like the video,
00:07:46.780 please give me a thumbs up.
00:07:48.060 Subscribe to the channel.
00:07:49.200 Ring the bell for notifications.
00:07:51.580 And I'll see you
00:07:52.380 in the next one.
00:07:54.040 If you're really actually
00:07:55.240 an independent supporter,
00:07:56.760 re-evaluate it.
00:07:58.820 Go with evidence-based policy.
00:08:01.820 That's what we're supposed to do, right?
00:08:03.460 This doesn't work.
00:08:04.720 So stop doing it.
00:08:06.300 That party has to go away.
00:08:09.280 It has to starve on the vine.
00:08:11.540 Do not volunteer for these guys.
00:08:13.300 Do not donate to these guys.
00:08:14.940 Do not support these guys.
00:08:16.260 Because the other thing to look at,
00:08:18.800 because whoever's funding them
00:08:19.860 and so on,
00:08:20.240 they're obviously not going to win anywhere,
00:08:21.600 but they can sure as heck
00:08:22.880 become a heck of a spoiler.
00:08:23.880 If they came in and managed to do
00:08:26.900 6% support in Calgary
00:08:29.640 in a general election,
00:08:30.560 you know what that would mean?
00:08:32.360 Premier Nahed Nenshi.
