00:00:00.000 Prime Minister Carney, it's a little unclear, and so I'm going to work over the next six months
00:00:03.780 to try to get those things addressed. Because if it is the case that there's a consensus now
00:00:10.440 about getting our energy to market, getting our resources to market, finding new markets,
00:00:14.800 these are kind of the baseline to reset the relationship with Alberta.
00:00:18.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. Wednesday, June 18th, 522 a.m. with the big
00:00:22.940 blue mug of coffee. Hope you're having an awesome day today. That was Premier Daniel Smith during
00:00:28.120 the election campaign, giving the next government six months to, well, to give in to a bunch of
00:00:34.840 demands she had when it came to resource development. And of course, when we're talking
00:00:38.400 Alberta, oil development here. And instead of getting closer to Mark Carney and the Liberals,
00:00:45.840 who won the election on April the 28th, instead of getting closer to those demands, we seem to be
00:00:51.260 getting further apart. Here's just a refresher on what Premier Smith wanted from the Liberal government.
00:00:56.780 We want to see a guaranteed access to economic corridors that include pipelines to get to new
00:01:03.320 markets. We want the repealing of Bill C-69 so that we do not have an unending process for
00:01:09.900 approvals that essentially means no more pipelines can be built. We need to lift the tanker ban off
00:01:14.380 the B.C. coast. We need to eliminate the oil and gas emissions cap that has been proposed,
00:01:19.700 which is a production cap. We need to scrap the so-called clean electricity regulations.
00:01:24.420 We need to end the treatment of plastics as toxic. We need to abandon the net zero car mandate. We need
00:01:31.580 to return oversight of the industrial carbon tax fully to provincial jurisdiction. And we need to
00:01:36.760 halt the federal censorship of energy companies. I mean, this is all very reasonable.
00:01:40.880 As far as I know, none of those demands have been met. Carney is getting further and further away from
00:01:48.320 meeting those demands. He's providing more excuses. I call them outs to not build pipelines in this
00:01:54.100 country. You'd think it would be an easy answer for Carney to come up with. Yeah, we're going to build
00:01:59.720 pipelines. But as you know, during the election campaign, he said he wouldn't get rid of the
00:02:04.500 thing that's in the way. And that's Bill C-69. Can you make a commitment to Canadians and to Albertans
00:02:10.520 that you will fight to get pipelines built? Yeah. Do you plan to repeal Bill C-69?
00:02:18.040 We do not plan to repeal Bill C-69. So there's that Bill C-69, which is the law here in Canada.
00:02:25.760 Now, my question to you is, if the government says we're going to build a pipeline,
00:02:30.720 but there's a law that says you can't build a pipeline, can you build a pipeline? Now, just for
00:02:38.040 fun, I went online to find Bill C-69. And here is the document. This is Royal Assent of the Bill,
00:02:45.280 which goes back to June 21st, 2019. And I opened it up, and this is how ridiculous government is.
00:02:51.660 And I scrolled through this really fast. Look how long this goes on. And I may run out of time in this
00:02:58.120 video before I'm at the end of this document. But we have this Bill C-69, which is in the way.
00:03:03.600 But I'm wondering if that's even a problem now, because Carney keeps piling on top
00:03:07.620 of ways he can avoid building pipelines. We've talked about the aboriginal veto.
00:03:14.480 Here's the latest story right here. This is from the Canadian Broadcorp incastration.
00:03:18.400 Canada's rush for new resource projects can't happen without First Nation support.
00:03:24.280 Here's a story from just, what, yesterday? Smith ally Premier Scott Moe says he won't kiss Quebec's
00:03:31.000 butt for a pipeline. So you've got the veto for the provinces. And then you've got the latest veto,
00:03:36.420 which I talked about yesterday, and more people are talking about online right now. I noticed that
00:03:40.760 Moose on the Loose put a video up early this morning regarding this one, which is a real big one,
00:03:45.300 is the government veto of pipelines. This article right here, Jamie Sarkin at Mark Carney is demanding
00:03:51.940 power to suspend all federal laws. What will he use it for? They're basically going to be able to say
00:03:59.520 no to any project that they don't deem in the public interest of Canada. Now, if you're somebody
00:04:07.080 who thinks the Conservatives should not support allowing the Liberals to have this unprecedented
00:04:12.240 power, you need to write a letter to your MP. I said yesterday I would do that. Here's what I wrote
00:04:17.960 to my MP here in Calgary Shepherd, Tom Kimiuk. Mr. Kimiuk, I hope all is well, and you are enjoying the
00:04:24.900 fine weather as we approach summer. I'm writing to express my concern for Bill C-5, which is expected
00:04:31.160 to get rammed through Parliament before Canada Day. I feel this bill will give sweeping control to Mark
00:04:36.820 Carney and the Liberals, and it will shield all projects they deem in the public interest
00:04:42.060 from any oversight and scrutiny. I side with the Bloc Québécois and the NDP in being cautious when
00:04:49.340 considering or voting in favor of this bill. I know it is a tricky situation, but your party must come
00:04:55.320 up with a strategy to see that this legislation is properly studied. I bring to your attention this
00:05:00.540 article from the National Post. Mark Carney is demanding power to suspend all federal laws. What will
00:05:06.180 he use it for? So I suggest that you write a letter to your MP regarding Bill C-5, and if it's a
00:05:14.940 conservative, be very clear that you don't think they should be voting on this until it gets proper
00:05:19.160 scrutiny. Now, the conservatives have been good on this. They've been doing a good job in the House
00:05:24.480 of Commons and in the Senate as well, talking about Bill C-69. Again, if the government says we can build
00:05:32.120 a pipeline, but we have a law that says you can't build pipelines, can you build a pipeline? So here's
00:05:38.880 a number of different conservatives in the House of Commons and Denise Batters in the Senate talking
00:05:45.280 about Bill C-69. Now Batters is talking to Chrystia Freeland, who gives the regular liberal word salad on
00:05:53.220 this and will not commit to getting rid of this bill, which bans pipelines. So you're going to hear
00:05:57.400 from conservatives Corey Tokor, Melissa Lantzman, conservative Michael Cram, Jazraj Singh Holland,
00:06:03.880 one and again Senator Denise Batters. Just look at our country with over 2 million people every day
00:06:11.020 relying on the food bank just to sustain themselves. This has been caused by liberal inflation because of
00:06:18.520 terrible policies like printing of money, but maybe more importantly has also been the laws they've enacted
00:06:25.120 to ban growth within Canada, like C-69, the No More Pipelines bill.
00:06:31.060 The Prime Minister is at the G7 today surrounded by allies in the largest oil-producing province in
00:06:36.380 the Federation, but thanks to the Liberal government, the oil and gas products they're demanding are still
00:06:40.760 in the ground and instead of powering our economy and Canadian paychecks. We've got laws blocking
00:06:45.200 extraction, a cap that halts production, a shipping ban that stops it from leaving, and an industrial
00:06:49.980 carbon tax that makes it all more expensive to build. Well, the Liberals repeal our anti-energy
00:06:54.860 laws and approved projects so that we can get jobs for our people and our resources to market.
00:07:00.220 In order to get more pipelines built, the Liberals must repeal Bill C-69, the No More Pipelines law.
00:07:07.660 This law, which was passed by the Liberals in 2019, has made it impossible for the private sector to
00:07:14.940 build pipelines in this country. With the G7 now under the way, will this Prime Minister put aside his
00:07:20.860 radical climate agenda to make sure that Canadian resources get into the hands of our allies?
00:07:26.220 We need to be low risk, low cost, and low carbon.
00:07:30.540 So, Minister, rather than allowing Bill C-5 to give your government the ability to circumvent
00:07:36.380 highly problematic federal laws for, quote, national interest projects,
00:07:40.780 why don't you just repeal Bill C-69 for once and for all?
00:07:45.660 Thank you for the question, Senator. As I said, I believe all of us in this House and in the House
00:07:54.380 that I have the privilege of being a member of, we disagree about many things, and that's entirely
00:08:01.340 understandable. That's called democracy. I think this legislation is one piece of legislation every
00:08:08.460 single member of this House can agree on. I just voted in the House of Commons together with
00:08:15.180 Conservative MPs on closure on this legislation. That says to me that my Conservative colleagues
00:08:22.860 across the aisle in the House where I sit recognize that this is a critical moment in Canada. It's a moment
00:08:29.180 we have to set aside partisan divisions and say, let's build in Canada. I'm proud to be a part of
00:08:36.060 that. I hope senators will be as well. We know why this is happening. We've known since Mark Carney
00:08:41.900 got into the race to be the leader of the Liberal Party. We know all the way through the campaign
00:08:49.020 why this is happening. People who voted for Mark Carney didn't seem to think it was really important.
00:08:54.620 I think that the Liberals may throw some crumbs to Alberta and Saskatchewan when it comes to
00:09:00.620 resource development, but not anywhere near the scale we need to satisfy our provinces.
00:09:08.540 But Carney is who he is. It's been said here before. Here he is in his own words.
00:09:15.340 Maybe as much as half of oil reserves, proven reserves need to stay in the ground if we're
00:09:20.700 going to get to where we are. We can't meet our ultimate objectives, which is to get to net zero
00:09:26.620 emissions. We can't get there unless we do not just have a cap on emissions, but those emissions are
00:09:32.140 brought effectively to zero. You know, the stranded asset problem in the energy sector is going to
00:09:37.980 crystallize sooner than people think. There will be a glut of oil and the wisdom of developing new
00:09:46.700 fields just from an economic perspective can be called into question. How do you reconcile keeping
00:09:52.940 Bill C-69 with your plans to build infrastructure in Canada? Do you plan to repeal Bill C-69?
00:10:00.060 We do not plan to repeal Bill C-69, to answer your question directly. What we have said is society is
00:10:07.260 putting tremendous value on achieving net zero. So the companies and those who invest in them and
00:10:14.380 lend to them who are part of the solution will be rewarded. But those who are lagging behind
00:10:20.140 and are still part of the problem will be punished. So to get to net zero, we need to electrify
00:10:26.300 everything and make electricity green. This has been Carney's objective all along.
00:10:32.140 He found an opportunity to become prime minister to lead the liberals. And now he's got an opportunity
00:10:39.580 to push his agenda. It's not to become an energy superpower in the way you and I think about it,
00:10:45.260 with oil and gas and everything. It's an electric superpower using windmills and solar panels and green.
00:10:52.380 And he won't get rid of Bill C-69 and we get further and further away from the list of demands
00:11:01.340 that Danielle Smith laid out several months ago. She said, the government that gets in has six months.
00:11:06.700 We're working on two now. We'll soon be on summer vacation and this will just get pushed further
00:11:11.820 and further down the road. Now, as I've been sitting here for about an hour, a new article pops up on the
00:11:16.700 National Post website. Here it is. Josh DeHaas. Hey, Carney, repealing bad laws is better than
00:11:22.060 exempting favored companies. C-5 is a case of governments picking winners and losers rather
00:11:27.340 than creating the conditions that will allow the best proposal to succeed. Amen. You know, we had a guy
00:11:34.780 who said he would have repealed Bill C-69 and we wouldn't even be discussing this at this point
00:11:41.340 after the election. And you know who that is. I appreciate you being here. What do you think?
00:11:45.420 Let me know in the comments. Give me a thumbs up if you like the video. Subscribe to the channel.
00:11:50.140 Please ring the bell for notifications and I'll see you in the next one.
00:11:53.900 Common sense conservatives will repeal the unconstitutional C-69 that blocks development.
