00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 541 AM with the Big Blue Mug of Coffee.
00:00:10.440 I hope you're having a great day today, Thursday, July the 17th.
00:00:14.400 I think I'm on my third Big Blue Mug.
00:00:16.720 I've been up since three o'clock, a little after three this morning.
00:00:19.600 Almost didn't do a video this morning, and then something inspired me.
00:00:22.740 I saw a tweet online, and something dawned on me that was right before our faces.
00:00:30.000 That was telegraphed to us months ago, I think the first time back in March.
00:00:35.520 That was probably the most quotable thing Mark Carney said during the election campaign.
00:00:40.760 Everybody was talking about it.
00:00:43.280 It made worldwide news.
00:00:46.560 It was a few words, the biggest thing he said, and he told us exactly what we heard the other day.
00:00:52.860 He told us what was coming, and we didn't listen.
00:00:56.460 You know, I like to think a little differently here.
00:00:58.440 This isn't going to be a long video.
00:01:01.560 But he said this over and over and over and over and over again, and nobody listened.
00:01:05.440 But he used this to great effect to get elected, because fear is a great way to motivate people.
00:01:10.660 And it certainly motivated a lot of people to vote for the Liberal Party, and to get Mark Carney his seat,
00:01:18.700 and make him Prime Minister.
00:01:19.760 Now, I saw this tweet earlier this morning.
00:01:24.680 Augie at North, any Canadian who honestly thought our government could remove all tariffs in a trade agreement with Orange One is delusional.
00:01:32.080 Carney never promised such an outcome either.
00:01:34.020 He merely said he would fight for our interests.
00:01:36.140 Time to grow up.
00:01:36.880 Avoid the noise.
00:01:37.500 Now, this guy, I don't know that this is one of the stages of grief.
00:01:40.580 There's five of them.
00:01:41.660 But if this were a stage of grief, this is the acceptance stage.
00:01:44.680 This is coping.
00:01:45.740 This is coping for Mark Carney's failure.
00:01:48.080 This is a Liberal.
00:01:49.340 And this is what you're starting to see online now.
00:01:51.840 Carney announces the other day that there wouldn't be a good deal for Canada.
00:01:56.640 There's going to be tariffs.
00:01:57.660 He failed.
00:01:58.140 The guy who was supposed to be the best person to negotiate for Canada with the United States to get a good trade deal has failed.
00:02:06.300 But Carney told us months ago that this was going to happen.
00:02:09.060 Again, probably the most quotable thing he said during the election campaign, he telegraphed it to us over and over and over again.
00:02:18.060 The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over.
00:02:28.300 A system that, while not perfect, has helped deliver prosperity for a country for decades is over.
00:02:36.520 That the old relationship with the United States that we've had is over.
00:02:40.840 Is over.
00:02:42.040 Is over.
00:02:43.300 Is over.
00:02:44.800 That old relationship is over, unfortunately.
00:02:48.060 Do you think Mark Carney knew way back in March that he wasn't going to be able to come to an agreement with Donald Trump on trade?
00:02:58.380 I think a little bit differently.
00:03:00.320 I think he may have known already.
00:03:02.360 And he used it to gin up fear and get elected.
00:03:05.880 Because that was the main thing he wanted.
00:03:08.480 He wants to be Prime Minister.
00:03:10.960 That was his goal from the outset.
00:03:13.420 I don't think what he plans to do is going to be good for Canada.
00:03:16.700 And I've said, I hope he fails.
00:03:18.920 Because what Mark Carney wants for this country is not what I want for this country.
00:03:22.660 I don't even want to be part of this country.
00:03:24.360 But if you look at the first follow-up to that tweet I showed you earlier.
00:03:27.880 No, he actually said he would fight tariff for tariff, dollar for dollar.
00:03:30.960 He's not done any such thing.
00:03:32.220 He folded before he even got to the negotiating table because he knew he could not negotiate.
00:03:38.600 That's the video.
00:03:41.200 Now, I just want to tell you about tomorrow.
00:03:45.300 I'm kind of excited.
00:03:46.520 I hope you'll watch tomorrow.
00:03:47.600 I've got a guest on with me.
00:03:50.480 And I think you're going to like it.
00:03:52.100 I'm joining the fringe.
00:03:54.160 I'm going to be talking with Derek from the unacceptable fringe later on this morning.
00:03:58.980 I want to get his take on Canada, the independence movement here in Alberta, Donald Trump,
00:04:03.200 here at Polyev, all the stuff that's going on with politics.
00:04:06.100 He's got some great takes on that, the unacceptable fringe, one of the places I go for information
00:04:13.140 as well.
00:04:13.680 You probably do.
00:04:14.960 One of the great younger people, because I'm in my 60s, one of the great younger people
00:04:18.800 are doing wonderful things when it comes to independent media.
00:04:21.580 So I'll have that video, barring any difficulties later on today, I'll have that video for you
00:04:26.560 tomorrow right here on this channel.
00:04:28.100 Thank you so much for watching.
00:04:29.540 If you enjoyed the video, please give me a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the
00:04:33.080 bell for notifications.
00:04:34.280 I'll see you in the next one.
00:04:36.020 I think we'll go back for a fourth big blue mug.
