00:00:45.120 afternoon and Premier Danielle Smith announced it. But first off, a number of
00:00:51.180 people putting a positive spin on Polyev and the Conservative Party and what they
00:00:55.400 did yesterday in the election. Candace Malcolm from Juno News, Ezra Levant, a lot
00:01:00.160 of YouTubers that supported the Conservative Party doing the same thing. They got 44% of
00:01:05.180 the vote. But always remember, when you come second, you're the first loser. Polyev
00:01:10.240 didn't even get his own seat. There's talk of somebody handing over their seat to him so
00:01:14.960 he can remain on as the leader of the Conservative Party. We'll have to see how that
00:01:19.620 turns out. But the other big thing you want to keep an eye on, right now the
00:01:23.680 Liberals have 169 seats. They've won or are leading. Three away from a majority. The NDP
00:01:30.780 only has seven seats, decimated. They've been Liberal light for the last two years
00:01:35.960 under Jagmeet Singh. Expect a number of them to walk across the aisle and join the Liberal
00:01:41.620 Party for a majority government. So you can spin the numbers that the Conservatives got yesterday

00:01:53.480 next four to five years in this country and there ain't nothing positive about that at all.

00:02:14.680 that very soon, Daniel Smith may lower the threshold for signatures to get a ballot for
00:02:21.060 referendum. Daniel Smith walked out this afternoon and said this.
00:02:25.280 We are expanding opportunities for Albertans to be involved in direct democracy by making changes to
00:02:31.440 the threshold needed for successful citizens initiatives. The signature collection time for
00:02:36.540 citizens initiatives will be extended from 90 days to 120 days. We are also improving the process by
00:02:43.060 setting the threshold to be 10% of the number of eligible voters who participated in the last
00:02:49.500 general election. So what does this mean? It means instead of having to get 600,000 signatures to have
00:02:55.700 a referendum in Alberta, we only need to get 177,000. And the time to get those signatures has been
00:03:02.940 extended to 120 days from 90. So is this a coincidence? This happens less than 24 hours after the election?
