John Bolton - Government Groceries - Now with more SOCIALISM and less EVERYTHING

00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 547 a.m. Friday, October the 10th. I hope you're

00:00:07.980 having a great start to your Friday as we go into Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I hope you

00:00:13.060 have a big dinner planned with family and friends. Certainly are doing that here at

00:00:18.340 the Bolton household on Monday. I've got my big blue mug of coffee today and I'm going in a

00:00:22.800 different direction than the other channels today. That's why you come here. If you want to go hear

00:00:27.180 the natterings from question period, if you want to hear the natterings of a dysfunctional government,

00:00:32.520 if you want to see a smug, arrogant, liberal look at you and tell you your life is absolutely perfect

00:00:37.120 in this country, go to the other channels. And I appreciate what they're doing, but I'm sick and 0.95

00:00:40.960 tired of it. I can't stand it anymore. So what am I going to talk about here today? Something way out

00:00:46.840 left field. And it's inspired by a tweet I saw this morning and another tweet I saw of something

00:00:53.960 totally insane by somebody who is running to be the leader of the new Democrat party here in Canada.

00:00:59.620 Now they don't have a leader right now. The liberals are desperate for support from one of the other

00:01:04.180 parties. They've got a budget coming up in November. If they don't get the support of the NDP and the

00:01:09.500 Bloc Québécois, the government will fall. So they need the support of one of the parties and the one

00:01:15.560 party that's most likely to do that, Jagmeet Singh's party, the NDP. There's only seven of them folks

00:01:21.120 and they're desperate right now. They don't have a leader. They won't get one until March.

00:01:26.320 So they're likely to support the government. And what is the liberal party and Mark Carney going to

00:01:33.260 give the NDP for their support in November? Who knows? It could be this idea. And this idea is insane.

00:01:40.100 Now Thomas Sowell, brilliant man in politics. He said, in politics, never assume that because

00:01:45.980 something is insane, it will not be done. Will the liberals do what I'm talking about today?

00:01:52.920 I think it's insane, but never assume it will not be done. These people are going to take away your

00:01:58.220 free speech rights. These people are leaving trillions of dollars in natural resources in the 0.90

00:02:02.020 ground. That's insane too. So what did I see this morning that got me on this path? Okay. I saw

00:02:09.600 this tweet right here. And you can see my response below it. This woman, Megan, this is a Canadian.

00:02:18.080 We pay taxes so that the government can do things for us cheaper than we can do it ourselves.

00:02:23.480 Now she was talking about private schools here. Leave that out of it.

00:02:28.400 It's the top of this that I saw and I went, oh my God, this is the mentality of people who live and walk

00:02:34.680 the streets and I interact with on a regular basis here in Alberta. This is the type of person that

00:02:45.560 says healthcare is free. And here's my response. You really think government can do things cheaper

00:02:53.420 than you? Canada is more broken than I thought. And there's a lot of people who followed up this

00:02:57.800 tweet by Megan with exactly the same thing. So it gives me some hope, but there's a lot of people who

00:03:02.640 think this. Now I'm going to use a couple of quotes here. I've just used a Thomas Sowell quote.

00:03:10.020 Here's a Reagan quote. Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem.

00:03:17.080 Now, how does this get me to the leader of, or a person who's running to be the leader of the NDP?

00:03:22.140 Well, I saw this this morning. Here's Abby Lewis. Now, just to give you an idea of what's going on

00:03:27.000 here, these are the people right now that are running. Let me move this up so you can see a little bit.

00:03:30.820 They're running to be the leader of the NDP. They're going to choose this person on March 29th.

00:03:36.040 So the NDP does not want an election right now. They've got no leader. They've got no money. I

00:03:39.440 don't think any of the parties want. I don't think the liberals want. I don't think the liberals want

00:03:42.340 to go to an election until they can get a majority. And right now the conservatives are rising in the

00:03:46.280 polls. So they need the support of these people. There's only seven people who are currently in

00:03:52.260 government for the NDP and they need those people or the government will fall. So you've got these

00:03:58.040 four people. Here's Abby Lewis, total socialist nutcase, absolute far left as you can get. 1.00

00:04:04.440 So here's the tweet I saw this morning from Abby Lewis, and he's referring to this video. I'm going

00:04:08.780 to show you a short little bit of this video in just a moment from a group called The Breach,

00:04:13.880 where they talk about public grocery stores. No, Abby Lewis is running to be the leader. He could win.

00:04:20.360 He could win. He's that far left. I think Heather McPherson is more likely to win, but Abby Lewis

00:04:26.680 could win because people are desperate in this country and they're looking for somebody to bail

00:04:31.500 them out. Government to bail them out when it comes to grocery prices, which is a huge issue. 1.00

00:04:36.720 So what does Abby Lewis say about public grocery stores? This excellent video builds out both the

00:04:42.320 case and the vision for public grocery stores. This idea is landing incredibly well with Canadians

00:04:47.240 who are tired of trading their paychecks for overpriced food just so greedy corporations can

00:04:52.200 line their pockets. It's the kind of fresh, ambitious, and populist offer the NDP can win with.

00:04:57.600 Let's fight for it together. So Abby Lewis here, and I'm going to play a little clip of him in just a

00:05:01.960 moment, and it's vomit-inducing. Please watch because I'm going to show you some video from John Stossel on

00:05:06.420 exactly this in just a moment, and it's fantastic. You're going to love it. And then I'm going to show you

00:05:11.700 the hope that you've got with a lot of Canadians who saw this as well and have followed up, and the 0.99

00:05:18.500 absolute truth on why this kind of shit is happening in our country right now. Okay? 0.98

00:05:25.140 So Lewis goes to the greedy corporations because the problem you're having right now isn't because

00:05:30.340 of the government. It's because of the greedy corporations. So let's see a little bit of this

00:05:36.900 video. Just a little bit. I'll put a link in the description. I'm not hiding anything here.

00:05:42.020 You can watch the whole thing, but it's cringe-inducing. Let's watch it.

00:05:45.380 Picture this. Walking down the aisle of a store where basic staples like bread, butter, and meat are

00:05:52.240 affordable. Where there are healthy pre-made meals, the food labeling is accurate, and much of the produce

00:05:58.960 is locally grown. Where you don't need to collect coupons because, you know, everything's already on

00:06:06.740 sale. That's because it's a public grocery store owned by all of us. Sound and plausible? We already

00:06:13.940 have publicly run schools, hospitals, libraries, community centers, and buses. Why shouldn't food

00:06:21.220 be provided in the same way? Instead of president's choice, imagine if we had the people's choice.

00:06:29.540 Here's what public grocery stores could look like. They would be operated by provinces or

00:06:35.620 municipalities and initially be funded by tax revenue or municipal bonds. Once they start

00:06:42.180 generating revenue, the profits would not line the pockets of wealthy CEOs. Instead, they'd go toward

00:06:48.900 ensuring quality and affordable food. And the popularity of the idea is clear. After New York

00:06:55.060 mayoral candidate Zoran Mamdani proposed public grocery stores in every city borough.

00:07:00.260 I'm Zoran Mamdani, and as mayor, I will create a network of city-owned grocery stores.

00:07:05.300 Polls showed two-thirds of New York are supported it. And nationwide in the U.S.,

00:07:11.620 51% already support the idea.

00:07:16.180 Don't think because an idea is insane that it won't be done. So he brings up Mandani here,

00:07:20.100 and of course, the evil corporations. Now, John Stossel, I saw a video John Stossel did on this not too long

00:07:25.700 ago, and he brings up Mandani as well, who is a nutcase socialist like Abby Lewis.

00:07:31.300 So stick with me here, because this is great. You're going to love this. Here's John Stossel

00:07:34.500 talking about this very thing.

00:07:36.900 Everywhere it's been tried, government ownership wrecks lives. Here's what grocery stores sometimes

00:07:43.140 look like in socialist Venezuela. Yet, Mamdani says,

00:07:46.740 I will create a network of city-owned grocery stores whose mission is lower prices, not price gouging.

00:07:53.540 These stores will operate without a profit motive and will pass on those savings to you.

00:07:57.700 No profit motive. That appeals to people. But the profit motive is exactly what keeps stores stocked.

00:08:04.660 And why we spend much less on food than we did a hundred years ago. And why we have more options.

00:08:10.900 Hundreds of sales every week.

00:08:12.580 We have choices because capitalists must compete to get your dollars. Compare your experience at your

00:08:19.620 profit-seeking grocery store to

00:08:22.580 Dysfunction at the DMV.

00:08:24.500 Government services bring tedious bureaucracy.

00:08:27.940 People say hours-long waits have been greeting them at the door.

00:08:31.540 I don't want my grocery store run like that.

00:08:34.180 Shelves are empty at an East Kansas City grocery store that's gotten millions of dollars from taxpayers.

00:08:39.940 Cities have tried subsidizing groceries, but the results aren't pretty.

00:08:44.340 A rotten smell comes through the door. And anywhere you turn,

00:08:47.540 you'll see products that need to be restocked.

00:08:49.700 I watch people walk in and walk out.

00:08:51.860 Yet, Mamdani promises.

00:08:53.620 City-owned grocery stores with guaranteed lower prices.

00:08:56.580 Even if Mamdani's stores work better, they'll cost tax dollars and take customers from businesses that pay taxes.

00:09:04.180 How are you going to try to come in and disrupt our livelihood?

00:09:10.260 Mamdani doesn't discuss how subsidies destroy private tax-paying competition.

00:09:15.700 He just says socialism helps everyone by taking from the ultra-rich.

00:09:20.660 It always works out that way where they blame somebody, Bernie Sanders, you know.

00:09:25.700 It's the millionaires and the billionaires that are the problem in the world.

00:09:28.740 And this plays very well on people who are desperate. And I think people in Canada are desperate right now.

00:09:34.020 And he talks there about going to government services. And I've had something like this happen recently.

00:09:39.860 I wanted to get my passport online. And there's only a certain amount of

00:09:44.420 time you can do that in the day with the government website. You run out of time.

00:09:48.020 I had to sign in at 5 o'clock in the morning here in Alberta because it's 7 o'clock a.m. Eastern when

00:09:54.820 you have to get online immediately because they'll only take so many passports per day.

00:10:00.260 This is a government website. If a business ran this way, it would go out of business.

00:10:04.020 And think about the people in BC. They've got to get up at 4 o'clock in the morning

00:10:08.260 to beat all the other people online here in Canada to get a passport.

00:10:11.780 And we had passport issues up the yin-yang with the Liberal government.

00:10:16.020 We've heard a lot about that. Now, who is Abby Lewis? Now again,

00:10:19.300 don't think because this idea is insane, it won't be done. But people, as I said in here,

00:10:25.300 51% of Americans think this is a good idea. And Canada, we're more left-wing than the Americans are.

00:10:33.300 Here's Abby Lewis. Listen to this guy. Now, he's right in a number of ways here. Things are too expensive

00:10:38.820 here. But the answer for Abby Lewis isn't getting government out of the way. Here is this nutcase, 0.78

00:10:44.420 who could be the next leader of the NDP. And the Liberals might depend on this party in order to

00:10:50.420 stay in power. Working hard doesn't earn you a living. A hundred bucks for a cell phone plan?

00:10:56.820 Three hundred bucks for a cart of groceries? Several thousand a month for rent or a mortgage

00:11:01.700 payment? These days, every politician claims to be shocked by the costs. What they don't talk about

00:11:07.940 is why? The billions in profits for the tiny group of corporations that control every part of our

00:11:14.100 economy. Three phone providers, three grocery giants, five oil companies, and the five big banks

00:11:19.940 that fund them. Lewis is right that prices are too expensive here in Canada. I agree with him.

00:11:26.740 But having the government take over these things, taking over the means of production,

00:11:30.420 is not the answer. It's more competition. That brings prices down for people, not more government. 0.69

00:11:35.940 What did Ronald Reagan say about this? Government does not solve problems. It subsidizes them. 0.98

00:11:42.500 God, I love Ronald Reagan. They're a great communicator, right? But there's hope out there.

00:11:46.260 For every person that tweets out something that the government keeps prices low, or that we have free 1.00

00:11:51.860 healthcare, there's some rational people out there who are fighting back against the stupidity of people 0.98

00:11:56.500 like Abby Lewis, who could be leading the NDP and have the balance of power in his hands very soon 0.99

00:12:02.900 in this country. There's people like this. Funny that he references Canada Post, the guy who was

00:12:08.260 talking about public grocery stores, schools, hospitals, libraries, buses. Every one of these

00:12:14.740 is subsidized. Canada Post, schools, hospitals, libraries, and buses are all suffering from a lack

00:12:19.060 of revenue and are rationalizing services. I think he means rationing.

00:12:22.820 There's this. The people's choice? Is this a parody piece? Or have you enlightened people,

00:12:30.660 enlightened people, not studied history? The people's choice has been tried.

00:12:34.900 Guess in which economies? It did not lead to lower price. It instead created a severe lack of choice,

00:12:39.940 like John Stossel said. The last thing Canadians need is more government interference. We need less

00:12:45.780 government, not more. No, absolutely not. Everything the government takes over from the

00:12:52.340 private sector goes down in quality and up in price. This would end up exactly the same way.

00:12:56.260 And then there's this. And this sums it all up in a couple of lines. And this is exactly what I was

00:13:02.260 thinking this morning when I saw the tweet from Abby Lewis. This idea is not the result of increasing

00:13:07.220 general prosperity across Canada. This is a cope for a systematically degrading economy and country.

00:13:14.580 The dumpster fire that I've been talking about. What did Pierre Polyev say about this?

00:13:18.660 Canada is broken. Canada is broken. Everything in Canada is broken. Canada

00:13:23.300 is broken. Everything is broken. In Canada, everything is broken. Everything is broken. Everything is broken.

00:13:32.900 I saw another tweet this morning, somebody complaining about Polyev, complaining about the

00:13:37.300 government and complaining about the country and complaining about the Liberals and complaining

00:13:40.980 about Mark Carney? Why is he complaining all the time? Why is he so mad about everything? He's mad

00:13:45.300 because people like myself are mad about things because things are not getting better in this

00:13:50.240 country. The answer is not more government. It's less government. You're not going to get that if

00:13:54.620 you keep voting for liberal in this country either. Thanks for watching. I know this is

00:13:58.040 completely different. It's out in left field. I hope you enjoyed it. If you like this kind of

00:14:01.780 content, please give it a thumbs up. It helps send it off to other people. I believe my channel is

00:14:07.240 getting throttled because of what I say here. I think YouTube, the algorithm says, I don't like

00:14:12.460 your videos and it's not getting recommended on YouTube right now the way it once was. So please

00:14:18.920 subscribe to the channel as well. I'd like to see this channel get to 40,000 soon, before Christmas.

00:14:25.340 That would be great. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend. If you like the video, give it a thumbs

00:14:30.520 up, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications. Got to end it that way. And I'll

00:14:34.720 see you in the next one.
