00:00:00.000To start this morning, I'd like to send out my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of those killed at CFB Wainwright here in Alberta, and my thoughts and prayers are with those that are injured.
00:00:15.900Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Monday, October the 19th. It's great to have you here. Thank you very much for watching, my friends in Independence.
00:00:26.960This is happening on Monday. Yesterday, I couldn't put out an independence calendar
00:00:32.420because I was in Edmonton. I was there for the rally the other day, and it was an extraordinary
00:00:38.240time. I'm going to try to feature some of the pictures I took, maybe a little bit of video
00:00:42.860while I was there. I'll put some underneath this right now so you can see my perspective from the
00:00:47.980stage. It was interesting. I was trying to do a story there. It's hard to do a story from an
00:00:55.740event where you're part of the story. I was the emcee at this event and unfortunately the camera
00:01:00.800I was using, it started glitching out on me so I wasn't able to put together the story I originally
00:01:06.780wanted to do. But just some video here of what I was seeing while I was in Edmonton for an
00:01:12.380incredible rally the other day on an amazing, amazing day where we had a windstorm roll through
00:01:17.680but a lot of great speakers. We had a UFC champion show up, Sean Strickland as well, who came up near
00:01:24.060the end when Keith was on the stage. Here's a picture right here. Here's the picture from my
00:01:29.180vantage point on the stage. Now, today started off very unusual, and this is going to be an
00:01:35.740unusual independence calendar. We don't have any events. The events are over, ladies and gentlemen.
00:01:40.580It is voting day today. We're going to talk about voting. I'm going to show you some of the things
00:01:45.300I've put together. We're going to hear from Bruce Party today. We're going to hear from Mr. and
00:01:50.300Mrs. Albertan, who started off my morning today with an interview at three o'clock, but that
00:01:56.200soon changed into something much different. It soon turned into this right here. Now, if you
00:02:02.780haven't seen this video, I'll put a card up at the end. I got a frantic call from Mrs. Albertan
00:02:09.000about, I don't know, 25 after three, right around that time this morning. And Mr. Albertan confronted
00:02:14.720a guy with a knife who was slashing some signs. He ended up rolling around on 16th Avenue with
00:02:20.840this person. So I'll put a card at the end and you can check it out if you like. This person has
00:02:26.280been arrested. They were rolled in the way in the back of a police cruiser. So our hero is Mr. and
00:02:32.520Mrs. Albertan. So I'd just like to start off by saying this. I got this picture from Tanya Clemens
00:02:38.220and this is from the other day at the legislature. And this is me on stage as the emcee with all
00:02:44.960these wonderful people and these blue signs. And I was standing on this stage the other day
00:02:50.380with Keith Wilson, and I was looking to my right at all the wonderful people and the leaders of
00:02:56.580the Alberta independence movement. And honest, I was standing there thinking, how does a former
00:03:02.800radio announcer from Ontario end up in this place? How did I end up here in this picture?
00:03:13.060It's still like a dream to me, to be honest with you.
00:03:18.180I'm just so honored to be part of this, that people would have the trust in me to be on stage
00:03:24.320at this momentous time in Alberta. I'm really amazed that this could happen. Now,
00:03:32.200I've told you before, and again, this is a little different for the independence calendar. I'm going
00:03:36.700to have your pictures of signs. I'm going to try to put together a good long montage of signs I've
00:03:42.300received here on the independence calendar over the last several months. This is where it started
00:03:46.880for me. I think I've talked about this before. This is at a Wexit rally back in 2019. And this
00:03:53.900is in North Calgary. And all these people showed up. They wanted Alberta independence. Here's
00:03:58.440another photo right here for you. I mean, this is quite a crowd. All these people wanted Alberta
00:04:03.840independence back in 2019. As a matter of fact, at that event, I picked up this hat right here,
00:04:10.760this Wexit hat, and I've had it sitting back there with my other hats for quite some time,
00:04:16.220but this is where it all began for me. I was so excited to be able to go out and vote for this,
00:04:22.060and I'm very hopeful as we go into today that we can pull this thing out in the end,
00:04:26.780and I'm so proud of everybody that's watching today. So what I want to do right now is I want
00:04:32.960to feature somebody else from Ontario. It's very strange how I have kind of fallen into this
00:04:41.040movement. My friend Jason Levine as well, who you probably know, he's part of this movement.
00:04:45.880He's from Ontario and another person has been out here from Ontario quite a bit. He still lives
00:04:50.480there. And he comes out here and he talks to Albertans about why Alberta needs to leave
00:04:57.080Canada. His name is Bruce Party, Professor Bruce Party, who I've got to know quite well. He was
00:05:02.880here on Thanksgiving with the Levine family, with Paula and Jason and their two great kids,
00:05:07.780JJ and Jacob. And he's been out speaking on behalf of Alberta Independence, a great speaker
00:05:13.440for Alberta Independence, I might add. I had a chance to talk to him right before the telethon
00:05:18.920back in the summertime. Here's just a short little bit of what we chatted about back, oh,
00:05:24.520I think it was way back in July. What do you think from somebody looking from Ontario,
00:05:29.320it's very interesting. I'm from Ontario. I think I might have a better understanding of Albertans
00:05:34.280than Albertans do because I wasn't one at one time. What needs to be said and done
00:05:41.080for the independent side to win? A huge question. I'm sorry. It's massive. We don't have a lot of
00:05:48.040I taught here. That's why I want to have you back on the chair. I wish I had an easy answer to that
00:05:51.680question. But if nothing else, I mean, one reason that I'm here and not trying to do this in Ontario
00:05:57.000is because this is impossible in Ontario. It's impossible nearly everywhere else.
00:06:03.060In other words, this is going back to the point that Albertans have the mindset where this is
00:06:08.700at least a possibility. And that is the case nowhere else. If you were trying to think of
00:06:13.660a way to fix Canada. The table is empty, except for this. There are essentially no other proposals
00:06:23.140on the table to work with. Right. It has to be this or nothing.
00:06:26.780Let me, this final question, because we don't have all day and we could go on all day,
00:06:31.060but if Alberta leaves, will this help fix Canada? Yes, absolutely. Because what we need in Canada
00:06:37.000is political disruption. And I don't know where that leads to, but you've got to start there.
00:06:42.560And the Alberta leaving, or even the serious prospect of Alberta leaving, might cause the kind of political disruption that would require this country to seriously look in the mirror at its own foundational trouble.
00:07:00.080I always appreciate what Bruce Party has to say because he is from Ontario, he lives there now, and he's got a different perspective.
00:07:07.560So what I want to do right now, and it is a different independence calendar today, I want to focus on some different groups who I think are ripe for harvesting.
00:07:17.460These are groups of people who have an interest, a vested interest in what happens in the future.
00:07:23.120Some of these people have already acted in the past, but they have not had their feelings and their needs met by the province and certainly not by the country.
