00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Sunday, October the 25th, 542
00:00:09.820 a.m. as I record this. It's great to have you here, my friends in Independence. This
00:00:14.860 will be the final Independence Calendar for now. Our movement is not over, ladies and
00:00:21.360 gentlemen. I only hope we can do this again real soon. I think this is episode 39 or 40.
00:00:27.480 I lost track a while ago. This is going to be unlike any other independence calendar.
00:00:33.560 There are no events coming up. I don't have an interview for you today. Although,
00:00:38.140 if you're interested in seeing a very good interview, which I did with Bruce Party,
00:00:42.580 it's about 36 minutes long. I'll put a card at the end. What options do we have going ahead?
00:00:48.680 It's a fascinating interview with a man I respect very much, Bruce Party. So what are we going to
00:00:54.280 do today? Well, I thought it would be kind of fun to go back and look at some of the pictures that
00:01:00.540 I've had on the independence calendar since the beginning. And this would be since January. It
00:01:05.460 was a few weeks into January when I first started asking you for photos of petition signing locations
00:01:11.200 and you started sending them to me. And I would argue with you, and I'm probably 100% correct
00:01:16.800 here, I have the greatest collection of Alberta independence pictures that there is. I would say
00:01:22.460 that's an absolute fact. So what I'm going to do right now, I'm going to show you, and I think I've
00:01:30.400 got most of them. I might've missed a few. If you've sent me a picture since the beginning of
00:01:33.700 the year, you might see it here one second at a time, 441 pictures back to back to back right now
00:01:42.580 on the independence calendar. I hope you enjoy.
00:01:52.460 Prairies, everybody thinks it's fine, counting every pipeline, every late night overtime, they don't read our headlines, they don't hear the pressure rise, they just see the wheat fields, never see the fire in our eyes, we've been shrinking on the map, just a corner, just a step,
00:02:22.460 But there's a border in our brain now
00:02:25.720 Drawn in red and black
00:02:28.540 Pop goes the province right out the back of your mind 0.98
00:02:34.180 One day you look up, we're a dotted foreign line
00:02:40.480 Pop new passports, same old northern sky
00:02:47.660 Pop up independence, sign while you were passing by
00:02:52.460 Ottawa is half asleep
00:02:55.280 Arguing in marble halls
00:02:59.040 We're out here in work boots
00:03:01.400 Fixing cracks they never saw
00:03:05.160 Emails in their inbox
00:03:07.580 Unread like a quiet thread
00:03:11.100 They're busy with their selfies
00:03:13.580 We're busy learning how to disconnect
00:03:16.960 You keep shrinking us to west
00:03:21.080 Like we're just some empty chest
00:03:24.200 But there's an anthem in our accent
00:03:27.520 You won't hear till we've left
00:03:30.620 Goes the province right out the back of your mind
00:03:36.280 One day you look up where we got a foreign line 1.00
00:03:42.460 You stood on those stone-cold-governed steps
00:03:48.540 Faith and freedom, loud and clear
00:03:53.940 Folding chairs and town hall stages
00:03:59.660 Spoke the truth they came to hear
00:04:04.680 They stood in line for hours
00:04:07.600 Braved the cold and wind
00:04:10.080 You talked about their children
00:04:12.820 And the mess we're living in
00:04:15.360 From the back row of the hall
00:04:18.380 To the front row of the fight
00:04:20.640 You said if they're gonna hear us
00:04:23.800 It's gonna be tonight
00:04:25.940 Let's go
00:04:28.800 You came to sign
00:04:30.420 On the freedom line
00:04:33.120 Ink on paper
00:04:36.200 Hearts on fire
00:04:38.480 Every name like gasoline
00:04:42.180 Kicking up that rebel choir
00:04:44.860 Let me shake your hand
00:04:46.740 Thank you for your time
00:04:49.360 Fire the voices
00:04:52.160 Strong and true
00:04:54.760 You stand up for Alberta
00:04:58.520 This one's for you
00:05:02.540 This one's for you
00:05:05.260 You stare down that lens in your studio light
00:05:12.100 Coffee gone cold
00:05:14.600 Face pale from the night
00:05:17.160 From the dark hours to the evening show
00:05:22.500 You hit go live and refuse to let go
00:05:27.840 Slow roll down from Edmonton, high beams cutting through
00:05:33.300 Northbound up from Calgary, every small town waiting on you
00:05:39.080 Truck stop, coffee cooling between petitions in the rain
00:05:44.200 Car tables and gravel out shopping every name
00:05:49.680 You came to sign on the freedom line
00:05:54.160 Ink on paper, hearts on fire
00:05:59.460 Every name like gasoline, kicking off that rebel choir
00:06:05.780 Let me shake your hand, thank you for your time
00:06:10.260 Fire up voices, strong and true
00:06:15.400 You stepped up for Alberta
00:06:19.400 This one's for you
00:06:23.420 This one's for you
00:06:26.120 You filled up clipboards and sleet and rain
00:06:30.680 Roadside lots by the highway chain
00:06:33.460 And echoing halls where the floors were bare
00:06:36.160 You passed that pen like a whispered prayer
00:06:39.400 You came to sign on the frozen ground
00:06:45.220 Heard your own heartbeat like a drum's low sound
00:06:50.620 Looked around, saw you're not alone

00:07:50.760 You stood that line
00:07:53.960 On the prairies wide
00:07:56.460 To the mountain high

00:09:36.600 Together we stand
00:09:52.520 Through wind and rain
00:09:56.200 helping our own. Two, three. I am Florida. Again. I am Florida. Again. I am Florida. One more time.
00:10:11.680 I am Florida. Thank you very much for watching. I hope you enjoyed that. I particularly like
00:10:18.620 looking at the ones from the petition campaign the first four months of this year. I just want
00:10:24.080 to say to the people that collected all those signatures, I admire you very much. And I admire
00:10:29.520 everybody that's been part of this movement. When I was at the legislature a little over a week ago,
00:10:37.900 I pointed out the volunteers, and that's every one of you that either went out and put up a sign,
00:10:44.840 or were part of a third-party advertiser, or went out and arranged events around the province and
00:10:51.060 helped out with those events to people who just showed up to support Alberta independence. As I've
00:10:56.800 said for quite some time, if we all do a little bit, it would become a big thing. And it did. We
00:11:01.380 didn't win, but that doesn't mean the movement is over. Now, I use this picture as the thumbnail
00:11:07.100 for this video. When I took this the other day, these are the signs that I had, and there were
00:11:14.000 more, but I put these up permanently on the wall in my garage as a remembrance of the wonderful
00:11:20.480 times that I had through this movement, which is not over. Independence will rise again in this
00:11:26.860 province. How do I end this? Well, thank you very much for watching the Independence Calendar.
00:11:37.100 Generally, on a weekly basis, 7,000 to 10,000 people would watch this, and they were rather
00:11:41.360 long files that I would put up every Sunday. So thanks very much for watching the Independence
00:11:47.520 calendar, I guess what I'll do is this. This picture that I just showed you is certainly
00:11:54.080 something that I will remember, but I'll leave you with this, which I put on X the other day.
00:12:01.060 Thanks for watching. I will see you in the next one.
