00:00:38.740 talk about my very good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Albertan. Here I am with them a couple of weeks
00:00:44.440 ago in Delburn. They are great people and had an unfortunate incident yesterday. I've talked to
00:00:49.720 Mr. Al yesterday, at least five times, and I'm going to give you a bit of an update and they're
00:00:54.700 going to update you on what's going on later today. Thank goodness they're okay. And I also
00:00:59.940 want to send out good wishes to one of the most important voices in the Alberta independence
00:01:04.580 movement. Well, we'll do that near the end. So there's been a lot of negative stuff happening
00:01:09.480 over the last 24 to 48 hours. And my initial reaction was to run to the camera and start
00:01:16.060 talking about it. But I like to do things differently. I always think back to what
00:01:20.080 Thomas Jefferson said, and I've shown you this quote before, but it will never do you wrong.

00:01:38.660 an independence group that's popped up over the last several weeks here in Alberta and a tiff

00:01:49.360 independence movement. I was very angry and I initially thought I'm going to run to the camera
00:01:54.120 and talk about this, but I took some time to think about it and I spoke to somebody who knows a lot
00:02:00.500 more about this than I do and they explained what was going on here. There have been issues with
00:02:06.240 Elections Alberta through this process over the last many months going through the petition
00:02:13.660 campaign. I had a run-in with Elections Alberta. You may remember that. A totally insignificant
00:02:19.520 thing. And that kind of shows you where Elections Alberta is at. But I'm going to move on from that. 0.94
00:02:24.580 There will be people talking about this, I'm sure, in the future. I want to talk about the
00:02:29.840 positivity here. I was really worried about this when it happened. But I went back and I looked
00:02:35.940 at when I first started talking about Alberta independence. And this was February 7th last year.

00:02:48.660 really only started getting going just before Christmas 2024. So a couple of months after that,
00:02:54.540 I started talking about Alberta independence. And I talked about it a few more times after that. And
00:02:59.840 I've been interested in this movement for going on 10 years, right around that. I've only been
00:03:04.800 in Alberta for 15 years. And then I went to an independence rally last May 3rd. And on short
00:03:11.200 noticed more than 3,000 people showed up to this, the Rally for Independence, May 3rd in Edmonton.
00:03:19.960 And people started talking more about Alberta independence. But it wasn't until June the 12th
00:03:26.980 that I spoke to this man for the very first time on this channel. Here is Mitch Sylvester. And what
00:03:31.480 did he say back then? Quote, I honestly think we have a very good chance to win this. What you need
00:03:39.060 to think about here, folks, is this was in June of last year, and it's May of 2026. This is only
00:03:46.320 11 months ago. When I went to the rally back on May 3rd in Edmonton, I'd never even heard of Mitch
00:03:55.120 Sylvester. Think about that. Think how far we have come. I know Mitch will correct me if I'm wrong
00:04:02.680 here. I think I mentioned the other groups to him when I spoke to him last week. And I said to Mitch,
00:04:08.500 I said, what do you think of the other groups getting? And he says, John, there's nothing we
00:04:11.300 can do about them. They're going to do their thing. We need to do our thing. And we have been.

00:04:23.120 we are today on the cusp of having a vote on independence. And we've done this together.
