Summary
It's Monday morning in Canada, and the internet is abuzz with the story of the so-called "button" planted by the Liberals to smear the Tories. Is this a dirty trick? Or is it part of a larger strategy to distract voters from the real issues at hand?

Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is Monday, April the 14th, 5.33am with the Big Blue
00:00:06.020
Mug of Coffee. Hope you're having a great day today. I've got Blue with me today. Here he is.
00:00:10.820
Say hi, Blue. Hope you had a great weekend. You know, I'm back to feeling about 100%. For those
00:00:16.540
of you who knew, I wasn't around much of last week. I'm about 100% now. So I hope you had a
00:00:22.500
good weekend. And yesterday, you may have been following the button story. The crazy things
00:00:29.340
that come up in Canadian election campaigns. But yeah, there was a lot of talk about buttons
00:00:34.100
yesterday. And I woke up at one o'clock this morning thinking about buttons. And I grabbed
00:00:39.560
my phone and I started emailing myself. My wife said, what are you doing? I said, well, I'm
00:00:43.640
emailing thoughts to myself for the morning. Because I saw this story, probably like you
00:00:47.980
yesterday, and I thought about doing a video on it, but I wanted to think about it a little
00:00:51.380
bit. So I've got something a little different for you today. I'm thinking differently than
00:00:55.220
what other people probably had on the internet yesterday. And I wrote something. So I hope
00:00:59.120
you'll excuse me. There's some quotes in this that I can't remember. I wrote this
00:01:04.460
down. So I hope you'll excuse me if I do read it off the screen. So here's what I
00:01:07.500
wrote this morning on the button story. All right. The internet was abuzz yesterday with
00:01:13.560
stories and videos and pictures of the buttons allegedly planted by liberal election staffers
00:01:18.880
at the Canada Strong and Free Network Conference in Ottawa in an attempt to smear the Tories, stop
00:01:25.400
the steal, make Canada great again, free Alberta, and others were found. All the usual YouTubers
00:01:31.160
were aghast. Reporters were aghast. Politicians were as well. Conservative Michael Barrett said
00:01:37.800
it was the liberals, quote, who are attempting to bring American-style politics to our country,
00:01:43.300
unquote. And he also said, quote, one wonders what other dirty tricks the liberals are behind
00:01:49.540
as they desperately seek to distract from their disastrous record while seeking a fourth liberal
00:01:54.660
term, unquote. More on that in a moment. Calgary Nose Hill MP Michelle Rumpel-Garner tweeted,
00:02:01.300
this is the sort of divisive crap the liberals have pulled on Canadians for a decade. And she's right.
00:02:07.060
It's indicative of the rot that permeates the liberal party. The fish rots from the head,
00:02:13.400
is the saying. And the liberals rotted plenty in the years Trudeau headed the party,
00:02:17.480
now replaced by Mark Carney. The liberals say it has nothing to do with the members of their team,
00:02:22.840
but the pettiness of this probably hasn't escaped you. And another story of dirty tricks. Conservative
00:02:29.960
candidate for Nepean Barbara Ball released a video claiming the liberals were using her wooden stakes
00:02:35.460
for liberal signs at her riding. Ball is running against Mark Carney. Ball has filed a police report.
00:02:42.920
Petty once again. This button story reminded me of my thoughts when the liberals decided they were
00:02:50.400
going to micromanage our lives and ban plastic straws. And I may have mentioned this on my channel
00:02:55.520
before. Please excuse me if I have. But it came to mind again with this button story. Now, plastic straws
00:03:03.220
seem like such a small, insignificant thing, like the button story. Many people dismissing it as
00:03:09.280
meaningless, not worthy of mentioning. I think it's indicative of something much bigger. Any party
00:03:16.800
that would ban its citizens from making the choice of using plastic straws is capable of doing anything
00:03:22.960
to us. At least that's the way I think of it. Like limiting free speech, censoring the internet,
00:03:30.560
keeping resources in the ground, taxing people on carbon dioxide, freezing bank accounts. I could go on.
00:03:37.600
Not petty at all. The button story is no different to me than Carney's incessant droning on Donald Trump.
00:03:46.240
Plant the button, the Trump message, and use it to your advantage and to the detriment of your opponent
00:03:52.640
and the country. He seems gleeful every time he mentions it with his eat it grin.
00:03:59.120
I'll get back to Trump and trade and everything because we can't avoid it.
00:04:03.680
I go back to Michael Barrett's quote from above. Quote,
00:04:06.640
One wonders what other dirty tricks the Liberals are behind as they desperately seek to distract
00:04:12.640
from their disastrous record while seeking a fourth Liberal term. Unquote. Hasn't Carney,
00:04:18.720
Carney's complete campaign, been a dirty trick?
00:04:21.440
Hasn't his campaign been based on distraction? Hasn't he been metaphorically planting buttons for
00:04:29.680
people to find and use to his advantage and to the detriment of his opponent and you?
00:04:36.960
In a country that needs serious leadership and economic relief, one wonders how long Carney can
00:04:43.360
continue to beat the Donald Trump dead horse with two weeks to go in this campaign. Meanwhile,
00:04:49.440
the other guy, Pierre Polyev, is rising in the polls, talking about change and making life more
00:04:56.080
affordable and sounding more prime ministerial by the day. Carney seems like a one Trump pony,
00:05:03.920
his party rotting from the head while he plants his buttons. Let me know what you think. A little
00:05:11.840
different today. I do appreciate it. If you could share this, that would be great. Give the video a
00:05:16.800
thumbs up again, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications, and I'll see you in the next one.
