In this episode of The Big Blue Mug of Coffee, John talks about how the Canadian election is all about emotions and how to tap into the emotions of the voters. He also talks about the latest video clip from the "Lilly and Polyev" interview and how the Liberals are using hatred to get their message across.
00:00:00.360Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is 6.51 a.m. It is Tuesday, April the 15th with the Big Blue Mug of Coffee.
00:00:08.100I hope you're having a great day today. I certainly am.
00:00:11.420And I'm getting going a little bit later than usual this morning.
00:00:14.400I was up early, but I've been sitting thinking this morning about what to talk about.
00:00:20.420And I really couldn't come up with anything concrete when it comes to what's being chatted about with the YouTubers and in the mainstream media.
00:00:30.000And there's a lot going on. I think you'll agree.
00:00:33.600But what's been really strange about this election campaign is this is not being typical at all.
00:00:39.120It has not been about social issues, which very often come up in election campaigns.
00:00:43.740Has it been about the economy? Yes, in a way, superficially.
00:00:48.560Has it been about policies? Not necessarily.
00:00:52.300This election has been based on emotion more than anything else.
00:00:57.220And I think a lot of the YouTubers and the news media are covering the superficial things more than the emotional things.
00:01:06.280You know, I talked about the button issue, but is that really going to sway anybody's votes?
00:01:11.940The YouTubers online seem to think this is a big issue.
00:01:14.760It's dirty tricks for sure, but the average liberal voter right now isn't voting on buttons.
00:01:21.480And they're not voting on Mark Carney's offshore accounts.
00:01:24.500And they're not voting on anything like that.
00:02:40.360And that's the kind of emotion that Carney and the liberals have tapped into.
00:02:44.700They've done a masterful job of this right from the beginning.
00:02:48.340As I've been saying on this channel for quite some time, the liberals needed the Donald Trump thing.
00:02:54.440In a video with Brian Lilly, which I'm going to show you a clip from in just a moment, he talks about how Carney says he's the only person that can talk to Donald Trump and negotiate with him, yet he's done nothing to solve our problems.
00:03:09.260And he is the prime minister of the country right now.
00:03:11.680But he's done nothing to solve the problems because he needs to continue to instill hatred in Donald Trump and the Americans.
00:03:44.720It's going to come down to whether people want to change.
00:03:47.580If people want to keep going, they think the liberals have done a good job on housing and crime and cost of living and they want a fourth term.
00:03:55.200Well, then they'll get a fourth term of that.
00:03:57.820If they think it's time for a change, then I think we've got a good shot.
00:04:44.340Sometimes I find that very upsetting, and it comes off as aggressive.
00:04:50.000But it comes from, I don't think people, maybe perhaps they might not know that it comes from a place of caring for the people that I'm fighting for.
00:05:00.000And my challenge is to convert that care into showing people the positive vision I have for the country, the brighter future that we have with change.
00:05:13.880And that's what I have to convey in these closing weeks so that people have hope.
00:05:18.120I want people to go to the polls, not because they're angry, but because they're hopeful.
00:05:22.040Polyev's message has really been about, you know, if you want more of the same, just vote for the liberals.
00:05:29.460Instead of saying, listen voters, the real reason why we've got the problems right now with the United States and Donald Trump is because of the Liberal Party.
00:05:39.000The only reason you've got anger and hatred for the Americans right now is because of the Liberal Party.
00:05:44.920It's because of Justin Trudeau and his economic advisor, Mark Carney, and most of the people who are currently in the cabinet, the Liberal Party, who caused all your problems.
00:05:56.200Don't reward them, get rid of them, punish them for what they've done to our country.
00:06:04.160That's what he has not said outright since the beginning of this campaign and tapped into a little bit of emotion.
00:07:08.820You know, over the course of the last 10 years, the pace of government spending, particularly operational expenditures, rose by an average of 9% a year.
00:08:18.340Now they've changed their message, the Liberals, and they're talking about doing things differently.
00:08:23.720So again, Polyev is going to have to change his messaging over the next couple of weeks.
00:08:29.760We need more emotion from Pierre Polyev.
00:08:32.220I think his numbers have been coming up.
00:08:34.320I think he looks very prime ministerial.
00:08:36.360But he talks about how people misinterpret who he really is because he gets emotional about going around to the country and talking to people who are suffering.
00:08:46.380But he doesn't tell us emotionally how he's feeling.
00:08:50.320Mr. Polyev, how do you feel when you see people having to live in the streets in Canada?
00:09:01.840People are lining up in great numbers.
00:09:04.620You talk about it all the time, but you don't tell us how you feel about people standing in line for food because they can't afford groceries because of the Liberal Party.
