00:01:20.960 a quarter of a century, folks, to what was known as the sponsorship scandal here in Canada,
00:01:28.880 also known as ad scam. Now, for those of you who aren't old enough to remember this,
00:01:33.400 here's a little refresher about what this is about. Now, this video was put up about six months
00:01:38.100 ago. It's only been watched by 38 people. It's 21 minutes long, but I'm going to show you less than
00:01:42.860 two minutes about this to give you an idea of what the sponsorship scandal was about. And it
00:01:49.120 revolved around the Liberal Party under Jean Chrétien. And here it is.
00:01:53.080 It started with a simple idea, promote national unity, remind Canadians of their shared identity,
00:01:58.440 and strengthen the country in a time of uncertainty. But what began as a well-intentioned government
00:02:04.000 program quickly spiraled into one of the biggest political scandals in Canadian history.
00:02:09.660 The sponsorship scandal wasn't just about misused funds or bureaucratic inefficiencies.

00:03:14.740 harmless initiative millions of dollars flowing into local events, helping to promote Canadian
00:03:19.460 identity in Quebec. But behind the scenes, something far more sinister was happening.

00:03:30.800 Advertising firms with close ties to the Liberal Party were awarded lucrative contracts,

00:03:51.960 in the media. And it was relentless with the media. Even the CBC covered this story deeply. And it
00:03:58.100 became something that all Canadians knew about. And they were outraged by this. It amounted to about
00:04:03.380 a hundred million dollars in money being shifted from the Canadian taxpayers' pocket into the
00:04:09.700 pockets of people who were Liberal insiders in Quebec. Now, what you have to remember about this
00:04:14.660 is John Chrétien was the Prime Minister at that point. There was a commission called the Gomery
00:04:18.980 Commission that looked into this. Some people actually went to jail because of this. Chrétien ended up
00:04:24.780 being completely exonerated. He ended up stepping down. Paul Martin became the Prime Minister.
00:04:29.840 There were talks of non-confidence votes when Stephen Harper was the leader of the opposition
00:04:35.960 at that point. But eventually, the government fell. And this had a lot to do with it. In 2006,
00:04:42.000 Stephen Harper became the Prime Minister of the country. The Conservatives won after 12 years of
00:04:46.820 Liberal rule because people were outraged that this thing was happening. And then we move to today.
00:04:51.960 Now, remember, we have more media now than we've ever had before. We have more people covering things
00:04:57.520 than ever before. We have people like myself covering things on a daily basis. We have 24-hour
00:05:02.940 news services. What happens to stories now is they get covered by the mainstream media and the CBC,
00:05:08.540 which are paid for, for the most part, by the Liberal government. And then they get dropped and
00:05:12.560 people seem to forget about them. And people keep voting Liberal. And why am I talking about this today?
00:05:17.940 Because I'm talking to you about the latest Liberal scandal. And this revolves around BC ferries
00:05:23.340 and Chrystia Freeland. And now Chrystia Freeland's been in the news for the last couple of days. Now,
00:05:28.200 it's really hard to follow this stuff. I'm reading the story about BC ferries and the government
00:05:33.680 shifting a billion dollars to a Chinese company to build ferries for British Columbia. But here's
00:05:39.440 just a quick synopsis of what is going on here by Conservative MP Dr. Leslyn Lewis.
00:05:44.600 So here's a tweet she put out that kind of explains this in a nutshell. Breaking news,
00:05:48.880 another Liberal scandal. Chrystia Freeland stood in Parliament dismissing any federal role in BC
00:05:54.560 ferries' one billion dollar deal with a Chinese state-owned shipyard. But leaked emails show the
00:05:59.880 truth. One, the Canada Infrastructure Bank, a federal crown corporation, quietly financed the purchase.
00:06:05.860 Two, Liberal staff scrambled behind the scenes to manage the optics instead of protecting Canadian
00:06:11.000 jobs and security. Three, even Liberal ministers admitted they were dismayed but still went along with it.
00:06:17.440 Canadians are paying the price for a government that says one thing in public while doing the
00:06:22.040 opposite in secret. Enough incompetence, enough cover-ups. Now, there is a bigger scandal that's

00:06:37.180 Mr. Speaker, our government will always side with Canadian workers, particularly our steel and
00:06:43.920 aluminum sectors that are being battered right now. I was disappointed and concerned when I learned of
00:06:51.000 this procurement, particularly at this moment when Canadian workers need our support. BC ferries is
00:06:59.340 entirely under provincial jurisdiction. So she washes her hands of this, but she's lying. Look at the smug,
00:07:06.160 arrogant look on this Liberal's face. They're all the same folks. So this comes out right here.
00:07:14.760 Liberals grilled over documents contradicting ministers' statements on a billion-dollar loan for
00:07:19.980 Chinese ferries. Freeland had said that while she shared the Conservatives' concern and anger about the
00:07:25.080 deal, her hands were tied jurisdictionally. So this is becoming a big scandal for the Liberal Party again. 0.97

00:08:55.040 for this and didn't do any work on it. Your money. Nobody's paying the price. And then there's this.

00:09:17.040 green fund to the sponsorship scandal saying that it was massive incompetence. Who got rich and who will have to pay?

00:09:49.600 contract to WE Charity to administer the $912 million Canada Student Service Grant Program.
00:09:55.840 The controversy arose when it was revealed that the WE Charity had previously paid close family of Prime
00:10:00.640 Minister Justin Trudeau to appear at its events despite making claims to the contrary.
00:10:05.440 In total, Craig Kielberger confirmed at a parliamentary committee WE Charity paid approximately $425,000
00:10:12.960 to Trudeau's family including expenses. WE Charity ended up getting over $40 million, paid some of it
00:10:18.240 back, but this was your money and this is a scandal that should bring down governments, but it does not

00:10:40.880 and they don't hold the government to account for what it's been doing to them. This is the biggest
00:10:45.680 scandal of all. Canada's deficit was $61.9 billion last year. He says that this year's deficit will be
00:10:54.960 even higher and he blames Trump and says that taking on this massive debt will somehow make life more
00:11:00.480 affordable for Canadians. This man is more dangerous than Justin Trudeau.
00:11:04.240 Just on the upcoming budget, your House leader said this morning that the deficit will be quote
00:11:08.560 substantial. How big are we talking and what does that mean for future cuts?

00:11:17.760 bigger than it was last year. And let's look at why that's the case. I mean, the actual level will
00:11:24.480 come out with the budget. But let's look at what's driving that. First and foremost, it's the tariff
00:11:32.560 war, the shock that's created by that, the rupture created not just in Canada, but around the world.
00:11:39.280 So Mark Carney, who was supposed to solve this problem, still hasn't solved the problem. I still
00:11:43.040 contend he's happy with these tariffs because he can blame everything on Trump and run up a massive
00:11:47.680 deficit that's causing problems for me with food prices and inflation right now. That's going to cause
00:11:52.320 problems for my daughter, for my grandson, my great grandson. We heard earlier this year that
00:11:57.760 the deficit was going to be $92 billion. Folks, it's going to be well in excess of $100 billion.
00:12:04.720 And he just blames it on Trump and gets away from this. And the thing is, Canada has no conscience
00:12:08.880 because they keep voting these liberal nutcases in. They don't hold them to account and make them pay 0.94
00:12:13.840 for what they've done to the country over the last 10 years. But back then, back during the sponsorship
00:12:18.880 scandal 25 years ago, the government ended up falling because of what the liberal government
00:12:24.000 did and the money they stole from Canadians and gave to their liberal friends.
