00:00:11.920 morning. I'm not getting going later than normal. I guess I'm getting my video up later. I've been
00:00:16.760 up since 3 o'clock, 3.20, about three hours now. I actually shot this whole video, and then I
00:00:22.340 realized that it was too long, and I remembered what Shakespeare said. Brevity is the soul of
00:00:27.000 wit, so I'm reshooting it again to make it a bit shorter. And I just want to get it done today.
00:00:32.920 I want to get to the point. The point is, the world of the future will think we're nuts.
00:00:37.800 And what am I talking about? If you're living in Canada right now, there's a good chance that below
00:00:41.980 your feet are millions of dollars in riches, and our government doesn't want to get this stuff out
00:00:46.680 of the ground. They're getting in the way of prosperity in your country, and certainly in
00:00:50.960 the way of prosperity in my province of Alberta. The world of the future will think we're nuts.
00:00:57.000 And why am I talking about this today? Two stories. There was a story that came up the other day,
00:01:00.600 which I wish I'd done a video on about two days ago, because a lot of YouTubers got this story
00:01:05.220 yesterday, and we're talking about it. And another one popped up today. I'm going to show you what
00:01:09.620 they are right now. So the first one is this one. You may have seen this. This is from energynow.com.
00:01:14.540 Canadian energy industry CEOs and leaders sent another open letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney
00:01:19.200 urging Build Canada Now. What do they want? A lot of these will sound familiar to those of you who
00:01:23.740 know what Daniel Smith wants from the government. But number one, they want significantly simplified
00:01:30.260 regulations. Two, shorten timelines for project approvals. Three, commit to growth production,
00:01:35.840 not limited. Four, fiscal framework that attracts investment. And five, incent Indigenous investment
00:01:42.260 opportunities. The incredible thing about this story is the number of CEOs of oil and gas that have
00:01:48.480 signed this open letter to the government of Canada. It's just astounding. On and on and on.
00:01:58.980 But what we seem to forget about is they wrote a similar article or a similar letter just prior to
00:02:04.080 the election, March 19th. So April 28th, we had an election. Energy CEOs to Canadian leaders,
00:02:10.380 an urgent plan to strengthen economic sovereignty. It's basically the same letter. And we seem to forget
00:02:15.600 that two days after the election, this would be April 30th, they wrote to Prime Minister Mark Carney
00:02:20.840 at this point for action to deliver economic sovereignty and jobs. And so far, we've got
00:02:25.680 nothing. We've got no pipelines announced. Nothing. Oh, but John Mark Carney announced some projects.
00:02:34.440 We'll get to them in just a moment. Then I saw this story right here this morning.
00:02:38.080 World must spend U.S. $540 billion annually looking for oil and gas, International Energy Agency. This
00:02:46.520 goes on to say that we're going to need oil and gas, a lot of it, folks, and that we need to find it.
00:02:51.400 And that's the thing that really frustrated me about this story. We don't need to find anything.
00:02:55.600 I live in Alberta. Here's a map of Canada and the United States. For those of you who don't know
00:03:00.740 geography, this is where I live right here. This is Alberta. It's stunning. Basically, where Alberta
00:03:07.140 is, is all oil. I live right around in here. Okay. This is Calgary where I live. So basically,
00:03:14.200 beneath my feet, there are riches. There's oil. We know where it is, but we can't get it out of the
00:03:19.780 ground. The world of the future will think we're nuts. Why are we not getting this stuff out of the
00:03:24.300 ground? Now, Mark Carney did announce a list of projects of national interest, and there was no oil
00:03:30.640 pipeline on the list. Oil and gas is a huge part of Canada's GDP. One of the biggest things, if not
00:03:36.500 the biggest. And he didn't put a new pipeline on there because he doesn't want to build a pipeline.
00:03:42.040 Now, the thing that really bothers me here is that since that list was published of those five
00:03:48.740 different things, Daniel Smith sat down with Mark Carney to have a discussion with him. And Daniel
00:03:54.740 Smith is dithering now. This woman who you see on the screen here, I admire very much. I think
00:04:00.520 she's one of the smartest and toughest politicians in the country, if not the smartest and the toughest,
00:04:06.380 but she's dithering now. She's giving him more time. Remember, there was a six-month time period
00:04:11.000 that the government had because she had demands to get her oil and gas out of the ground. And now
00:04:16.580 she's pushing back that by a couple of months. I expected fireworks this week because we're at six
00:04:22.680 months right now, folks. But instead of a bang, we got a whimper from Daniel Smith. Here's what she had
00:04:27.560 to say about her meeting. My meeting with the prime minister was about as encouraging as any
00:04:32.880 meeting I've had with the federal government in a long time. How? She got absolutely nothing and
00:04:38.440 no assurances whatsoever for an oil and gas pipeline here. Now, further on in this video,
00:04:44.320 she's asked an additional question about carbon capture and whether we got assurances for an oil
00:04:49.720 pipeline. Just to clarify, did you get assurances that it will be on the second tranche of projects
00:04:55.940 that will be approved? And separately, how would you assess the reports that are coming out about
00:05:00.800 the list from Alberta's perspective, including it appears as though phase two of the LNG Canada
00:05:05.060 project will go ahead and there's some suggestions that the pathways plus carbon capture project could
00:05:10.020 be part of the next wave? Well, I can tell you that when I looked at the first five projects,
00:05:14.160 I thought finally they get it because it's all the projects that have been difficult to build.
00:05:19.160 It's mining projects. It's LNG Canada. And I think that that demonstrates a real shift in the focus
00:05:26.680 of this government. Here's the thing. These projects that have been considered of national interest that
00:05:34.280 Carney announced have all been on the list for a long time. There's nothing new here. Corey Morgan of
00:05:40.080 the Western Standard, I heard him yesterday, said he looked into them. They're all being held up by
00:05:43.840 Aboriginal groups, all of them. And we remember, I don't have to put a clip for you, where he talks
00:05:49.260 about consensus. I've played it here a dozen times. If we don't have the consensus, meaning the
00:05:54.100 provinces and the Aboriginal groups, projects just aren't going to get done here. She's asked about
00:05:58.960 carbon capture. That's one of the things that Carney wants. He wants carbon capture. I talked to Jeff
00:06:05.840 Rath here on this channel about this. This is what he had to say.
00:06:09.120 Just think about Carney when he talks about energy corridors. Like he's going to allow Alberta
00:06:13.820 a pipeline, all right. The pipeline just happens to be a liquid CO2 pipeline from the heart of the
00:06:19.140 tar sands, you know, out to Bonneville Coal Lake to put CO2 back in the ground. His energy corridor
00:06:25.120 has nothing to do, nothing whatsoever to do with oil and gas pipelines. And if Danielle Smith thinks
00:06:31.620 that, she is deluded. So why is Mark Carney doing this? Why will the future world look back on us and
00:06:38.400 think we're nuts? Why is he doing this? It's quite obvious to anybody who knows Mark Carney.
00:06:42.900 Maybe as much as half of oil reserves, proven reserves need to stay in the ground if we're
00:06:48.220 going to get to where we are. We can't meet our ultimate objectives, which is to get to net zero
00:06:53.760 emissions. Can't get there unless we do not just have a cap on emissions, but those emissions are
00:06:59.540 brought effectively to zero. You know, the stranded asset problem in the energy sector is going to
00:07:05.380 crystallize sooner than people think. There will be a glutton of oil and the wisdom of developing new
00:07:14.140 fields just from an economic perspective can be called into question. How do you reconcile keeping
00:07:20.380 Bill C-69 with your plans to build infrastructure in Canada? Do you plan to repeal Bill C-69?
00:07:26.420 We do not plan to repeal Bill C-69 to answer your question directly. What we have said...
00:07:33.420 The society is putting tremendous value on achieving net zero. So the companies and those who invest in
00:07:41.600 them and lend to them who are part of the solution will be rewarded. But those who are lagging behind
00:07:47.240 and are still part of the problem will be punished. So to get to net zero, we need to electrify everything
00:07:54.140 and make electricity green. Need I say more? But what's interesting about this regarding an earlier
00:08:01.160 article that I mentioned, if we go back here, right around here, listen to what he says.
