00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John. Welcome to the channel. 8, 10 p.m. It is May the 23rd. It is p.m. I do have my big
00:00:05.680 blue mug. I hope you're having a great evening. And I had to do this video tonight. I just had
00:00:11.380 to. I went out for dinner with my wife tonight. I came home, went to X, and I saw people talking
00:00:16.260 about former Alberta politician Thomas Lukasik. And you might remember, if you watched my video
00:00:23.940 the other day, I brought him up and his plan to try to beat the independence movement at its own
00:00:28.740 game by filing a petition. And he's out there talking now. And he was on CTV Edmonton looking
00:00:37.120 like the cat who swallowed the canary. But folks, this. And Mr. Lukasik, this is a major, major fail.
00:00:45.560 So let me show you what I said about Mr. Lukasik the other day to understand who he is. And then
00:00:50.500 I'll show you Mr. Lukasik on CTV Edmonton. And I'll ask the question, why is nobody calling him out
00:00:56.960 on the major problem with his plan to beat Alberta independence?
00:01:01.960 But I saw this on my wife's Facebook this morning. And it was
00:01:05.020 posted by Thomas Lukasik, who is a former MLA, former deputy premier here in Alberta,
00:01:10.680 progressive conservative, not a conservative. He's more progressive. He likes the liberals.
00:01:15.720 Here are some posts on his Facebook. Just loving on the liberals. But he's an anti-independence
00:01:20.520 person. He started up some kind of a campaign. I'm not sure if you were aware of this. This is the
00:01:25.140 post I saw this morning. He posted this a week ago. So many of you are asking how to sign this
00:01:31.020 Canadian Forever petition. You can see it on the right-hand side of the screen here.
00:01:35.100 Elections Alberta must first validate this petition. It will take a few days. We will be
00:01:39.820 launching a campaign shortly. Stay tuned. It's a lot of work, but Canada is worth every bit of it.
00:01:45.920 And then here is a blow-up of the main part. And I put arrows there on underline. You can read that
00:01:50.760 if you want. And just stop it on the screen if you want to read it. But be vigilant. This is the
00:01:54.840 kind of stuff you're going to see popping up a lot more. So that's Mr. Lukasik. And here he is on
00:01:59.900 CTV Edmonton explaining his plan.
00:02:02.720 So what I decided to do is to take that task on and frame the question and make sure that it is
00:02:10.620 supported by facts and not disinformation. And ask the question in a positive way.
00:02:16.080 Do you want to continue to stay in Canada as if this really was a question? And do you want to reject
00:02:23.920 any idea of separatism or joining the United States? So what I have done to answer your question
00:02:29.920 more briefly is I have filed an application with Elections Alberta to have a petition in Alberta
00:02:37.800 on that question. And if we get enough signatures, which I have no doubt in my mind that we will,
00:02:43.740 we will have a referendum in this province, but not about separating, about staying in Canada.
00:02:50.140 There is Mr. Lukasik's explanation. Now he goes on to say that if he gets his question on a
00:02:56.160 referendum, there cannot be a similar question within five years, thus cutting off the independence
00:03:01.320 movement. But there's a problem with his logic and his reasoning here. Have you caught it? I mentioned
00:03:08.140 this to my wife. She caught it immediately. Do you agree that Alberta must remain within Canada
00:03:13.420 and any form of separation must be rejected? That's the question he wants on the petition.
00:03:20.260 Now, let me just put it to you this way. If there's a vote on Alberta separation and a majority say,
00:03:25.540 yes, we want to leave, what happens? We leave. What if a majority say, no, we stay? What if a majority
00:03:30.960 say, no, to Mr. Lukasik's question? That means we leave, right? I mean, Mr. Lukasik, you can't have it both
00:03:40.900 ways. If people say yes to your question, we stay in Canada. If people say no to your question,
00:03:46.720 we stay in Canada. This better be damn clear going in that this is the alternative. Now you say you
00:03:53.880 have a team of lawyers. I'll bet you there's a team of lawyers on the independent side. Jeff Rath,
00:03:57.940 I don't speak for the man. He's a lawyer. Pretty smart guy. I bet you'd argue this in court.
00:04:02.380 Not only that, but we're waiting to get a petition together and all the signatures for the
00:04:11.280 independence vote. You're getting the signatures for a question so we can leave the country already
00:04:15.200 and you paid for it, you fool. That's the way I see it. Let the lawyers fight it out.
00:04:23.420 But this is pretty dumb as far as I'm concerned. He looks like the cat who swallowed the canary
00:04:27.800 on CTV Edmonton. He looks like a damn fool. Tell me what you think. Give me a thumbs up if you
00:04:33.280 like this video. Subscribe to the channel. Ring the bell for notifications. Share it. Tag
00:04:38.200 Mr. Lukasik on Twitter or wherever or on X and I'll see you in the next one.
