In this morning's show, John sits down with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, to talk about the future of Canada's energy sector and the need for more pipelines and other infrastructure. He also answers some of the most important questions from the audience.
00:07:40.780But Jagmeet Singh in a video yesterday said this, and this is exactly what Mark Carney thinks as well.
00:07:47.820That's why Alberta needs to get out of the country as soon as possible.
00:07:51.020Together we're going to fight every single day with our strength, with our hearts, with everything we have to defend your values, to defend Quebec values.
00:07:59.860We're going to ensure not only will these values never be on the negotiation table, we're going to put in place a law that ensures that these values, the Quebec culture, the nation of Quebec's culture, the language, French language, and our national resources are not allowed to ever be on the negotiating table and supply management.
00:08:18.660These are very important values that we hold dear.
00:08:21.020These will never be on the negotiating table by law with the new Democrat government.
00:08:25.200I want you to know you can count on us.
00:08:26.720We're going to continue to fight for you.
00:08:39.060A law put in place that ensures the values of Quebec culture, the nation of Quebec's culture, the language, French language, and our natural resources.
00:08:51.020I think that means that they will not allow pipelines to go through from Alberta.
00:08:58.800I believe that's sort of hidden in the message here.
00:09:02.200And then, of course, you've got to get supply management in there because we've got to protect Quebec when it comes to the dairy industry, which is a point of contention for Donald Trump.
00:09:09.820The reason why your cheese and milk and everything in this country is so high is because of Quebec.
00:09:15.400Because the government panders to Quebec.
00:10:04.060Here's James Moore, former minister in Stephen Harper's government.
00:10:08.920You know, Albertans on a per capita basis have given more to Confederation than any group of Canadians in this country by far.
00:10:14.800And they've done it for a couple, two, three generations.
00:10:16.980And they have a federal government right now whose time is ticking that has actively campaigned against their province, against their core industry.
00:10:24.600That is one third of Canada's exports to the United States.
00:10:28.580They've put in place regulations that are designed to be poison pills to stop the export of Alberta oil to global markets so they can get world prices.
00:10:36.220So that we can bring that money back to Canada and create Canadian jobs and pay Canadian taxes to build Canadian hospitals, schools and Canadian roads.
00:10:44.340Albertans want to do their part for Canada.
00:10:47.360And so I think Daniel Smith and Albertans are prepared to do everything, including a maximalist approach, but a little bit of quid pro quo.
00:11:46.580And she said quite outright she does not trust the East with our money.
00:11:50.280And I must tell you, there's no circumstances under which I would acquiesce to a major tariff being put on Alberta Energy to go to Ottawa so Ottawa could decide how it's distributed.
00:12:00.320And quite frankly, the trust is gone with the federal government.
00:12:07.340They've banned exports off the West Coast.
00:12:10.620They have put in a net zero power reg.
00:12:13.120They've talked about an emissions cap.
00:12:14.780So if you think I'm going to believe that they'll take $40 billion out of our economy and just trust them that it's going to come back, I don't.
