00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 523 AM. It is Monday, May the 18th. I hope you're
00:00:08.560 having a great start to your Monday. I trust you had a fantastic weekend. Thank you so much
00:00:13.300 for being here. And I've been following the news over the weekend and the glowing coverage
00:00:18.160 of Premier Danielle Smith and Mark Carney for this so-called pipeline deal.
00:00:22.900 and it's gaslighting on a national stage here folks you know I'm old enough to remember a year
00:00:33.780 ago are you do you remember a year ago when Danielle Smith talked about a possible national
00:00:39.520 unity crisis remember when she talked about nine bad laws that needed to be removed in order for
00:00:45.440 Alberta to prosper to get its oil and gas and its natural resources to market remember that
00:00:50.040 has anybody got a memory for these things because i certainly do how are we doing on these things by
00:00:56.640 the way because i don't think we're doing so well despite the fact that the alberta government
00:01:01.580 danielle smith mark carney and others are trying to tell you that these laws have been removed and
00:01:06.800 i say it's nonsense i'm going to prove it using danielle smith's own words we're going to run
00:01:11.780 through them in just a moment the glowing coverage of danielle smith going national here rick bell
00:01:16.700 by the way, is a writer for the Calgary Sun. Danielle Smith shoots down her critics in scoring
00:01:21.420 big pipeline deal. What I find fascinating about this is everybody talks about this like this is
00:01:26.560 going to end the Alberta independence movement. A pipeline is not going to do any of that. We have
00:01:32.380 a lot of other grievances here. And one pipeline is not going to change our minds on Alberta
00:01:37.220 independence. I can guarantee you that. So let's take a look at Danielle Smith back in February
00:01:43.920 when she tweeted this out. Okay, so here it is. Alberta's winning by pushing back and standing
00:01:49.000 our ground. For years, Ottawa's so-called nine bad laws threaten our jobs, investment, our ability
00:01:54.320 to develop world-class energy and Albertans' livelihoods. And she put this graphic along
00:01:59.640 with the Alberta logo on it, fixing Canada's nine bad laws. And they're all checked off except for
00:02:04.840 the one at the bottom, labeling plastics is toxic. The federal government is fighting over that one.
00:02:09.940 Let's take a look at two things that have changed. No more consumer carbon tax. Well,
00:02:14.880 that's true. You still have clean fuel standards in your car. And Kearney has just replaced this
00:02:20.760 carbon tax with some other carbon taxes, which we'll probably get into. Greenwashing provisions
00:02:26.160 removed. Yeah, that's probably the least of the worries when it comes to these nine bad laws.
00:02:31.440 That has happened. So oil and gas industries can say, look, we've got a good product right now
00:02:36.120 without the federal government coming down on their heads. 0.88
00:02:38.460 But what about Danielle Smith herself?
00:02:41.300 Back in August, for the best of my ability of finding out when she did this,
00:02:45.540 because this is when I saved this into my computer,
00:02:48.260 she sat down and had four things she talked about,
00:02:51.780 which took into effect all of the nine bad laws.
00:02:54.820 So let's go through each one of them right now,
00:02:57.760 and we'll find out how we're doing and how Premier Smith is doing on these laws.
00:03:01.760 Here we go.
00:03:02.360 Starting off with number one. 0.73
00:03:04.900 First, Alberta requires guaranteed corridor and port access to tidewater off the Pacific,
00:03:11.220 Arctic and Atlantic coasts for the international export of Alberta oil,
00:03:15.540 gas, critical minerals and other resources in amounts supported by the free market,
00:03:20.900 rather than by the dictates and whims of Ottawa.
00:03:24.340 Have we been guaranteed any corridor at all? Any? Were we guaranteed a corridor on Friday
00:03:32.020 when they announced this pipeline.
00:03:33.600 No, certainly haven't been guaranteed anything
00:03:35.760 to the Arctic and out to the east.
00:03:37.840 The only guarantee we likely have so far
00:03:39.820 is a pipeline to the south.
00:03:42.060 But there is no guarantee we have corn doors
00:03:44.300 to move our natural resources anywhere.
00:03:46.700 Let's move on to the second clip.
00:03:48.360 Here we go.
00:03:48.740 Second, the federal government must end
00:03:52.260 all federal interference in the development
00:03:54.580 of provincial resources by repealing
00:03:56.700 the No New Pipelines Law, C-69, the oil tanker ban.
00:04:00.820 Has that been repealed? No. Has the tanker ban been repealed? No. They are still law.
00:04:07.260 Net zero electricity regulations?
00:04:09.920 No. Has that been repealed? No. He's cut back on his net zero regulations. But do you find it
00:04:16.500 kind of a coincidence that at the same time that Alberta was getting this so-called perhaps maybe
00:04:21.640 pipeline, that Carney rolled out his national electricity strategy on May 14th at exactly
00:04:27.700 the same time. This is a net zero electricity plan, folks, not in Alberta, but nationwide.
00:04:37.660 Now, what I did here was I looked for the word clean in here, and it's in here 25 times. Clean
00:04:42.920 grid, clean reliable, clean electricity, clean energy, clean energy, clean economy,
00:04:50.260 clean electricity generation projects, clean electricity transmission, clean energy,
00:04:54.900 clean economy investment tax credits, clean affordable, clean affordable, clean electricity,
00:05:00.900 cleanest power grids, clean energy economy, clean power, clean affordable, clean energy,
00:05:06.640 clean reliable. You get the point. This is net zero. And he rolled it out at exactly the same
00:05:13.400 time he announced this so-called pipeline with Danielle Smith. Let's move on.
00:05:17.380 The oil and gas emissions cap.
00:05:19.240 The oil and gas emissions cap was removed. But instead, what did we get? We got an industrial
00:05:25.540 carbon tax. Was the net zero vehicle mandate removed? No. What he did was he increased
00:05:34.080 greenhouse gas regulations on fleets, which will cost you more money, lowered the number of
00:05:39.660 vehicles we have to have by 2035 from 100% to 75%. Oh, and by the way, let's just mention that
00:05:46.820 he's bringing in Chinese electric vehicles. He gave the commercial energy companies free speech,
00:06:02.420 but the other things, he's just replaced them with something else. Now let's move on to this one.
00:06:09.220 And this was the big deal that got them the so-called pipeline deal the other day.
00:06:14.020 Here we go. Number three. Third, the federal government must refrain from imposing export
00:06:19.760 taxes or restrictions on the export of Alberta resources without the consent of the government
00:06:24.860 of Alberta. Now, she gave consent for an export tax in order to get this so-called maybe perhaps
00:06:33.240 pipeline deal, and that is the industrial carbon tax. It makes Alberta oil uncompetitive. It costs
00:06:39.340 money for industry. And it's going to add $5 to $15 to every barrel of oil. And I've been told it's
00:06:45.940 $10 right on there. So it makes us uncompetitive. So she's failed on this as well. She's given into
00:06:51.960 everything. Now let's look at the last thing. And fourth, the federal government must provide
00:06:57.180 to Alberta the same per capita federal transfers and equalization as is received by the other three
00:07:04.040 largest provinces, Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia. That's not happened.
00:07:12.080 It's between $25 and $29 billion a year Alberta ships east. Danielle Smith has complained about
00:07:19.520 this. It does not make her happy. In fact, here she is on record saying it. Alberta has been 0.66
00:07:24.900 treated unfairly for decades long before that. We built roads, rail, power, jobs, and prosperity
00:07:31.340 for this country. Yet we've been told to keep quiet and be grateful while sending 20 billion
00:07:37.020 dollars a year more to Ottawa than we received back in funding each year. In fact, since 1980,
00:07:43.580 Alberta has contributed 653 billion dollars more to federal taxes than we received back.
00:07:50.540 That means well over half a trillion dollars went directly from Alberta to fund other provinces,
00:07:56.540 mostly with economies larger than ours through programs, transfers, and equalization.
00:08:02.140 Just to put this in perspective for those of you who live in the rest of the country,
00:08:07.180 if we're only giving 25 billion dollars to Ottawa and eastern Canada every year, and that's on the
00:08:13.820 low scale, that amounts to five thousand dollars for every man, woman, and child in Alberta.
00:08:19.180 Another one of the reasons why we want Alberta independence. And this goes to liberal friendly
00:08:25.100 ridings. We don't mind helping out, certainly not, but propping up Quebec, British Columbia,
00:08:30.160 and Ontario is not in our best interest. And what you might not know is we had a referendum on this
00:08:35.980 back in 2021 when Jason Kenney was the premier and 62% of Albertans said they wanted to end
00:08:42.700 equalization, but it will never happen because that would require constitutional change. Do you
00:08:48.080 really think the rest of the country is going to stop taking our money from us? Not a chance.
00:08:53.640 Danielle Smith has been a failure on almost every one of these laws, other than censorship on oil 1.00
00:08:58.860 and gas companies. She has failed in every way. Now, I will give her this. She has made it easier 1.00
00:09:04.940 for us to have a referendum here. She lowered the threshold for signatures. She passed Bill 14 to
00:09:13.040 allow us to collect signatures. Now, what I'm asking Danielle Smith to do is don't be a failure
00:09:18.120 on allowing us to have a referendum, call one right now. Thank you very much for watching.
