Summary

Taylor Swift opened her Toronto concert with a "Woke land acknowledgement" at which she told the audience that they were standing on land that was stolen from the Indigenous people that came before them. This is just one of many such things that are being done by the progressive left.

00:00:00.320 Hi, it's John. Welcome to my basement, downstairs enjoying a cup of coffee, Sunday, November the 17th.
00:00:07.020 And today I want to talk to you about Taylor Swift.
00:00:10.840 Now, I can say that I've never really given much thought to Taylor Swift.
00:00:15.780 The words Taylor Swift, up until this moment, have never passed my lips.
00:00:19.760 I don't find her music very interesting, and I've heard quite a few of her songs.
00:00:23.760 I don't find much pop music these days interesting at all.
00:00:26.240 It's the same four chords over and over and over again.
00:00:29.720 It is. It's not very complex. Nothing like what I listened to when I was younger.
00:00:33.960 Now, you may say, if you're one of the kids, and your most little kids, who like Taylor Swift,
00:00:38.320 you're old. You don't get Taylor Swift. No, I don't.
00:00:40.620 My parents never got my music at all in the 70s and the 80s.
00:00:44.220 But my parents didn't understand a good pop song in the 70s and 80s,
00:00:47.280 because it didn't exist when they were younger.
00:00:49.660 I know a good pop song. I don't think Taylor Swift is that good.
00:00:52.880 Anyway, she's in Toronto for a series of concerts.
00:00:55.620 They actually shut down the Gardner Expressway for her entourage the other day,
00:00:59.960 no doubt pissing off the people who are caught in traffic congestion in Toronto,
00:01:04.840 which gets worse by the day.
00:01:06.540 Now, the Gardner Expressway, if you don't know what it is, and I do, I've driven it many times,
00:01:10.540 it's a divided highway that runs along Lake Ontario, where Toronto is located.
00:01:15.220 So they shut down this One Direction, so the people have to avert their eyes from the great Taylor Swift,
00:01:20.080 and she starts off this series of shows.
00:01:22.300 And according to Breitbart, she opened her Toronto concert with a woke land acknowledgement.
00:01:28.000 So what's a land acknowledgement?
00:01:29.400 That's telling people that the land they're standing on was stolen from the indigenous people that came before them.
00:01:36.720 And this is very common in Canada now.
00:01:38.520 In fact, the other day, the Remembrance Day ceremony here in Calgary,
00:01:44.340 our mayor, the piece-of-crap, disgraceful, vile Jody Gondek,
00:01:49.520 started off a Remembrance Day ceremony, which is for honoring the war dead
00:01:54.680 by telling the people who are there that they're on stolen land.
00:01:59.140 This is a very regressive thing to do these days.
00:02:02.100 It's starting to show up a lot more in the United States as well, and it's not very helpful.
00:02:07.080 Now, if you read through this article, it mentions everything I've just told you in a lot more words,
00:02:13.600 but it does say in here that many native activists, though, feel these notices are meaningless
00:02:19.460 and actually contribute to less awareness, not more.
00:02:22.700 I would say it makes people hostile to this type of thing.
00:02:26.420 People don't like to be lectured to, and they don't like to be told they have to be guilty about something they didn't do.
00:02:33.640 This connects with a lot of things going on in society today.
00:02:37.560 You know, the diversity, equity, and inclusion thing is another thing.
00:02:41.600 The more the left pushes diversity, equity, and inclusion,
00:02:45.540 the less people actually think about those things,
00:02:48.760 and the more hostile they become to those types of ideas.
00:02:52.720 If you're telling people that they need to be guilty about racism,
00:02:57.000 and people don't feel like they're being racist towards somebody,
00:02:59.960 and people just treat people equally, people go by the golden rule,
00:03:04.240 treat others the way you wish to be treated,
00:03:06.240 but you're telling them all the time they need to feel guilty,
00:03:08.740 and they've committed some type of sin just for existing,
00:03:13.960 they turn a blind eye to this stuff, and they become hostile towards it.
00:03:17.700 And they may become hostile towards it to the point where they don't actually want to help people
00:03:22.860 who may actually need help in some of these groups,
00:03:26.280 like natives, indigenous people, or black people,
00:03:29.640 or other people who are part of the minority in our society.
00:03:35.340 So these types of things need to stop.
00:03:38.400 Again, it's the regressive left that's interested in pushing this garbage on us.
00:03:43.020 They say this stuff, we're on stolen land.
00:03:46.380 Well, if the land is stolen, and you feel so strongly about this,
00:03:50.280 turn over the home you're in, and the piece of property it's on,
00:03:53.860 and give it to some indigenous people, and that way you can feel better about it.
00:03:57.840 Because this doesn't make people feel good about it at all.
00:04:00.920 But then again, there's another moral to this story, okay?
00:04:04.700 I think it was Lennon who said,
00:04:06.500 give me the children for four years, and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.
00:04:11.320 That's exactly the type of thing this is about.
00:04:15.840 It's an indoctrination of the young so that they feel the same way when they get older.
00:04:20.340 It's wrong, and it needs to stop.
00:04:23.100 Thanks for watching.
