There are two Canadas, and there are two sides in the Israel and the Gaza conflict. I don't want to get into the Alberta independence debate, but there's a chasm between the two, and I'm wondering if the chasm is too wide for us to get together at this point.

00:00:00.560 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is 3.54 a.m. It is Tuesday, August the
00:00:07.320 12th. I hope you're having a great day today. I'm not going to speak really loud
00:00:11.560 today because I'm in a hospital room. I do have a separate hospital room, which
00:00:16.160 is great, but there are people out there, so I'm going to talk a little quieter
00:00:19.520 today. For those of you who are interested, I'll give you a health update
00:00:22.920 at the end of this video. Over the last couple of days, I've been trying to keep
00:00:27.080 up to what's going on in the country to the best of my ability in my current
00:00:31.040 situation. But there's something I've been thinking about for the last few days,
00:00:34.700 and I wanted to just kind of talk about it here, and I prepared some notes, so I
00:00:37.980 hope you don't mind if I refer to my tablet, which is right down there. I've
00:00:42.880 been thinking how there's two Canadas. I don't want to get into the
00:00:48.220 Alberta independence here at all. I don't want to talk about that. But there's
00:00:51.740 two Canadas right now, and I'm wondering if the chasm is too wide for us to get
00:00:55.780 together at this point. The hiking ban in Nova Scotia brought this into focus for
00:01:01.000 me. On Sunday, I had planned on doing another in my series of videos called
00:01:05.900 This Week in Stupid, where I list three things that stand out as stupid, and the 0.99
00:01:10.820 hiking ban was going to be on that list, but not at number one. You might think, 1.00
00:01:16.080 oh my god, it was probably the dumbest thing that happened last week, but not at 0.96
00:01:19.140 number one. The people who support that get that honor. There's a definite 0.80
00:01:24.060 demarcation line between the two Canadas when someone thinks banning someone from
00:01:28.140 walking in the woods is a reasonable response to wildfires. I think it's
00:01:33.300 similar to blaming the gun, not the shooter. As I said in a recent video, I
00:01:37.540 believe in education and not legislation. We need to thank Joe Eveli for
00:01:43.280 challenging this authoritarian dictate by Premier Tim Houston, and also thank him
00:01:48.540 for his service. But this was one of the things I thought was just ridiculous. I 0.81
00:01:53.440 can't understand why he would ban hiking in this situation, but the other side, the
00:01:58.520 other candidate does. Many have likened this to the COVID mandates, and I seem to
00:02:03.980 agree, some going as far as calling these climate lockdowns. I do have a
00:02:10.020 question. Would the people who agree in this hiking ban follow a climate
00:02:14.080 politician, if they propose limiting your movements, your travel, your eating
00:02:19.120 habits, and other things? In a country with two Canadas, I wouldn't be surprised
00:02:26.080 if a lot of people would be fine with that. Another indication of the two
00:02:31.120 Canadas is the definite divide between the sides in the conflict in Gaza. I think
00:02:36.800 everyone can agree we don't like nor do we want any war, but I remember who
00:02:40.920 attacked on October 7th. I believe Israel has a right to defend itself, I believe 0.50
00:02:45.200 Israel has a right to exist, and I believe Israel has a right to finish the job 1.00
00:02:49.700 and end the scourge of Hamas. In my Canada, this seems perfectly reasonable, but to 0.99
00:02:55.900 the other side, for some reason, they're supporting a terrorist organization. I just
00:03:00.360 don't get it. They march in the streets, they intimidate those who disagree, and
00:03:04.580 accept the word of a terrorist organization on things like food
00:03:07.820 distribution and casualty numbers. There's a saying, the first casualty of war
00:03:13.200 is the truth, and I believe that can happen on both sides, but I think I believe
00:03:17.920 Israel more than I believe the other side in this situation. I think there's a 1.00
00:03:22.060 reason why we have these two Canadas when it comes to this situation. The 0.98
00:03:27.160 longest hatred being one, and that would be anti-Semitism. I think improper vetting
00:03:32.160 of immigrants is a big issue, which is a huge issue in Canada right now, and I think
00:03:37.180 that these are things that need to be discussed and need to be looked at, because I just don't
00:03:42.720 understand. My Canada doesn't understand the other side at all on this one, and in a way
00:03:48.220 I think this is quite evil.
00:03:50.540 William Tecumseh Sherman, I'll give you a quote. I love quotes. William Tecumseh Sherman
00:03:54.120 said, war is cruelty. There's no use in trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will
00:04:01.840 be over. So we can all hope that this war will be over sooner, before later. Another indication of
00:04:07.860 the two candidates goes back a couple of years, the trucker convoy. Yeah, I had to bring this one up.
00:04:13.880 I saw that as a pushback against government overreach, as people using their speech to tell
00:04:18.780 their government they would not comply, and they had a right to earn a living, but it grew to represent
00:04:23.740 the insanity that was COVID, closing playgrounds and beaches, mask mandates, so-called social
00:04:30.160 distancing, people reporting friends who had guests in their home, curfews, arrive can apps, freezing of
00:04:37.580 bank accounts, and so on. There were two candidates at this point, and I think that's really when it
00:04:42.680 started, when I really started to notice how different I am as a conservative from the other side.
00:04:47.440 Now, I think there were probably people who agreed with all of these mandates, who were on both sides
00:04:52.540 when it comes to ideology, but the other candidate complied and did whatever they were told. My
00:04:59.620 candidate just didn't get it. Can we bring our sides together on this? I don't know, but we're going
00:05:07.640 to find out what happens with Tamara Litch and Chris Barber. They might go to jail for seven and eight
00:05:12.840 years. I think that's ridiculous. They really aren't guilty of anything other than mischief, 0.90
00:05:19.780 but the other side wants to see them put in jail to the fullest extent of the law, and I think that's
00:05:25.100 crazy. COVID had me thinking about another great quote by Thomas Jefferson. When the government fears
00:05:32.600 the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny, and I saw tyranny
00:05:39.180 when it came to the other candidate in this situation. There are many examples of the two
00:05:45.180 candidates, but I don't want to go on too long, but I suppose the recent election is a big one as well.
00:05:51.080 This is the last one I'll give to you. People had a chance to vote for change, or they had a chance
00:05:56.100 to vote for more garbage, and the other candidate voted for the trash heap. Let me know what you think 0.99
00:06:02.340 in the comments. Again, I'm going to be very limited to what I can do here from my hospital bed. I'm
00:06:08.720 waiting to have my helper here. One of the nurses helped me. They've been giving me great care here.
00:06:16.300 As far as how I'm doing right now, I was able to walk about eight feet that way to get out into the
00:06:21.980 hall last night, but I have to use a walker, and I'm on fentanyl, which goes against everything I
00:06:28.220 believe in because I don't like taking drugs. I don't drink, but I have to take fentanyl in order
00:06:31.940 to get rid of the pain enough to be able to walk eight or ten feet. I'm hoping I can be out of here
00:06:37.100 by the end of the week, but right now I feel fine sitting here right now, but I'm in a situation where
00:06:43.480 I can't walk. I have a broken pelvis in two places, I heard now, and this collarbone where I'm holding my
00:06:49.200 phone is broken as well, so I'm pretty beat up right now. I would like to thank everybody. I've tried to
00:06:55.600 read all the comments from my short little video the other day. I would like to thank everybody.
00:07:01.060 I can't tell you how much it means to me that you had so many kind thoughts for me the other day. I
00:07:08.540 thank you so much. Some people gave me a few bucks. I'd like to thank you as well. Every once in a while,
00:07:12.940 some people hit the super thanks button and give me some money. It's not necessary, but I thank you
00:07:17.360 as well. I hope you have a great day. I'll keep you up to date on what's going on. I can't promise a
00:07:22.240 video tomorrow, but if you like the video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel,
00:07:26.820 ring the bell for notifications. I'll see you in the next one.
