Summary
Mark Carney's answer to a question about Alberta's independence from Canada was surprising in a number of ways. First, he didn't seem to be prepared for the question. Second, he seemed to be unprepared for it. And third, his answer left me with a lot of questions.

Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is Friday, June the 20th. It is now 6am and it is
00:00:11.240
the first day of summer. So let's tip the big blue mug to the first day of summer. Hope you're
00:00:16.500
having a great day today. If you're in Australia, too bad. We have to deal with winter here for
00:00:23.020
almost six months in the Calgary area. Nice to have you along today. I do appreciate it. If
00:00:27.920
you're subscribed to the channel, thank you so much. If you haven't subscribed, please just click
00:00:32.580
on subscribe. Thank you very much. So today, my second video, I'll put a card at the end of this
00:00:38.120
video so you can watch the video I put out earlier today. I had some fun with it. I hope you'll give
00:00:43.520
it a bit of love and give it a like because it was fun to put together. But today I've got a little
00:00:49.200
bit of inspiration from Moose on the Loose. First off, what the young people are doing on YouTube
00:00:56.160
is absolutely amazing. Moose on the Loose is just a remarkable young man. I think of Jasmine Lane,
00:01:04.500
the pleb. I think of many others online who are doing incredible things. If I were in broadcasting
00:01:11.200
today, and I was for 35 years, I would not be working for a big corporation as a radio announcer.
00:01:17.500
I wouldn't be doing it. I'd be doing YouTube. I got paid crap for years. I worked a lot of my own
00:01:24.160
hours to get nothing out of it. I feel rather successful in what I did. I was a small market
00:01:29.640
radio announcer for years, but I lived a good life. So I'm pretty happy with that. But what the young
00:01:35.180
people are doing is amazing. So watch Moose on the Loose and subscribe to these people. You know,
00:01:38.560
back during the election campaign, I did a video on how Pauliev should have been on all of their
00:01:43.820
podcasts and all of their shows. I know he did Jasmine Lane eventually, but he should have been on
00:01:48.340
all of them to get his message out to millions of people, get millions of hits. These people are
00:01:53.720
getting more views than CTV and CBC. It's remarkable. So I move on now. So I watched Moose
00:02:00.680
on the Loose this morning for some inspiration. He showed a video of Mark Carney in a news
00:02:05.480
conference, and Mark Carney was asked about Alberta independence. Of course, I'm interested in that,
00:02:10.780
but it was his answer that was rather revealing to me in a couple of different ways. I don't think
00:02:16.000
Moose on the Loose got into this. Obviously, Carney wasn't prepared for the question, which you'll see
00:02:21.700
when I play his answer. I'm not going to play the whole answer because just like liberals do,
00:02:27.340
they get into the word salad and they say a lot of words, which mean nothing. I guess most politicians
00:02:33.260
are that way. But let me show you this clip, the question, the answer. And there are really three
00:02:39.460
things I take out of this. One regarding the independence movement, but two others regarding Mark
00:02:44.100
Carney and the liberal playbook, two things. It's the only two things Mark Carney and the liberals
00:02:53.160
have right now that's keeping them afloat. So watch this.
00:02:57.660
Something I'd like to turn to talk of making Canada an energy superpower. Danielle Smith has said,
00:03:03.620
you know, there could be a referendum next year and the legislation around that is 170,000 people
00:03:08.100
can put that on the ballot. You know, Brian Mulrooney once perhaps referred to rolling the dice with
00:03:13.560
the future of Canada. Is it appropriate for that few people to put the state, the fate of a G7 nation
00:03:22.240
Well, I see what you're trying to do. And the province of Alberta, provinces make determinations
00:03:32.500
on the rules governing referenda, voter plebiscites, other factors, and they can make determination
00:03:39.340
on how they come into force. Determinations on broader issues of referenda on a federal level,
00:03:46.140
including supported by Supreme Court decisions, are governed by the Clarity. I will refer to the
00:03:51.100
Clarity Act. But look, what we're interested in, what Canada's new government's interested in,
00:03:57.500
what Parliament, I think, most parliamentarians are interested in, is building this country.
00:04:02.500
Not breaking it apart. It's working together, working with indigenous peoples, working with
00:04:06.820
provinces, working with labour, working with business. We have many, you know, we have this
00:04:12.960
threat, this realising from the US that regardless of what outcome we get, I mean, it matters what
00:04:19.380
agreement we get, but it's changing the world of trade. It is changing the outlook for the global
00:04:24.660
economy in not just immediate, but the medium term. Just from that short soundbite of Carney,
00:04:30.120
first off, it sounded like he was unprepared for a question about the independence movement here
00:04:35.360
in Alberta, which I find surprising. He had to realise that this was going to come up.
00:04:40.940
But he really doesn't have an answer to the independence movement out here right now. He
00:04:45.240
doesn't know what to say. And I'm glad. Just ignore us, Mr. Carney. We're not even out here in
00:04:53.320
Alberta wanting to make an independent country. Just ignore us. To my recollection, in 1995, during
00:05:03.000
the referendum in Quebec, Jean Chrétien did a very similar thing. It seemed he didn't pay much
00:05:09.460
attention to it until the very end. And I believe Jean Charest, at the time, became a national figure
00:05:15.240
because he stepped in to speak on behalf of Canada, him being a Quebecer himself. And he was the voice,
00:05:22.600
I think, that may have kept Quebec from leaving Canada back then. I don't think that Carney and the
00:05:30.200
Liberal Party and the Canadian government is going to ignore the independence movement until the end.
00:05:34.200
To the contrary, we provide a lot of money to Canada. A lot of money. We have a lot of resources
00:05:41.720
out here that they desperately need. So expect them to try to undermine the independence movement.
00:05:49.240
Corey Morgan touched on this the other day in one of his videos. Some people came up to him,
00:05:54.200
seemed a little bit crazy. I think there will be people who will try to undermine the independence
00:06:00.360
movement out here by labeling a lot of us racists, hicks, rednecks. Just like they tried to label
00:06:09.480
Pierre Polyev. And people didn't vote for Polyev because he walked by a door that had a diagonal
00:06:14.620
symbol drawn on with a dry erase marker. That's going to happen. There are millions of people who
00:06:23.400
want independence for Alberta, but they will try to sway the voters who are on the edge
00:06:28.120
by using the ists and isms. So that's something I find surprising for that. But the other thing that's
00:06:33.880
interesting about this is the Liberal Party of Canada has only got two things going for them right now.
00:06:39.080
I did a video the other day talking about how people will stick with Mark Carney because they
00:06:46.040
think he's the next coming of Christ for almost, you know. I had this back and forth online this
00:06:52.440
morning with somebody who thought Carney was being a boss because he's going to impose counter tariffs
00:06:57.880
if Donald Trump doesn't have a deal with him in the next 30 days.
00:07:00.840
And here's this back and forth on X this morning. But my question to this person is,
00:07:09.800
why didn't he say this to Donald Trump? He was standing in front of the man just a couple of
00:07:13.560
days ago because he's a coward. Because Donald Trump carries a big stick.
00:07:20.280
But Mark Carney has only got Donald Trump. He's only got that issue that's keeping him alive,
00:07:26.600
and it plays to his base. I did a video ages ago on how Carney needed a crisis.
00:07:32.840
The crisis was the tariffs. I said this back in January. We had a tariff issue. The Liberals
00:07:39.480
needed the tariffs in order to bring up their poll numbers to win an election. It worked to great
00:07:43.880
effect. They need the tariffs to continue. They're doing that with the supply management thing.
00:07:50.920
There's been stories about this. Here's Lilly talking about Carney's team putting up roadblocks
00:07:55.640
to trade deal with the US. The digital services tax and supply management. These are major stumbling
00:08:03.080
blocks for a trade deal with the United States. And Carney is doing his best to put these in front
00:08:09.800
of Donald Trump and say F you to him. The tariff issue needs to continue for as long as possible
00:08:17.960
so they can keep their numbers high and their popularity high because it plays to their base.
00:08:22.920
The other thing they have is the building the country thing. We're not talking about separation.
00:08:27.960
We're not talking about breaking up the country. We're Canada strong. And that's the only other
00:08:32.920
thing Carney and the Liberals have. The only other thing. So what happens when these things go poof?
00:08:39.960
Because I don't think they're going to build the country. I've said that here. He doesn't want oil and
00:08:45.240
gas. He doesn't want pipelines. They put a roadblock up on that already. What is it called? Bill C-5,
00:08:51.000
I believe. Where they're going to control what gets built and they're not going to have any oversight
00:08:56.920
to what gets built at all. So I don't think that's going to happen. Building the country,
00:09:00.680
that is going to die eventually. And Carney's base won't have that to latch onto. And the Donald Trump
00:09:07.880
thing will eventually work its way out. But the Liberals are going to play this to the hilt.
00:09:12.680
They need Donald Trump because it's the thing that got them elected and it keeps them popular.
00:09:18.840
As soon as those two things go poof, like I said, we're getting closer down the way to
00:09:25.480
a vote of non-confidence. And you'll start to maybe see some of the numbers and polling numbers
00:09:30.280
for the Liberals come down. The Conservatives have to get themselves straightened out. The NDP has no
00:09:35.640
money. The Conservatives spent a lot of money. Right now, if an election were held, the Liberals would win
00:09:40.840
a majority. But that is going to change. But there's going to be some pain for you living in
00:09:46.280
Canada. Meanwhile, the independence movement, keep ignoring us, Mr. Carney. Because within the next
00:09:53.720
year, there will be an independence movement out here. And as Corey said, go to Corey Morgan's
00:09:58.840
YouTube channel. Go to the Western Standards YouTube channel. Subscribe to them. Great voices for
00:10:04.440
the independence movement for Conservatives here in Canada. Great voices. Wonderful people.
00:10:09.240
But as Corey said the other day, this movement is growing. I can feel it. We've heard the numbers
00:10:15.880
are 30% would vote in favor of independence. The numbers are growing out here. Independence is getting
00:10:23.160
closer for Alberta. That's all I got to say. Hope I didn't bore you with my, I don't know whether it's a
00:10:29.160
word salad like the Liberals. But I appreciate you being here. I really do. If you like the video,
00:10:34.600
please give me a thumbs up. Like it. Please subscribe to the channel as well. Let's get to 35,000 here on
00:10:40.840
the channel. And ring the bell for notifications as well. And I'll see you in the next one.
