John Bolton - The Voices Of INDEPENDENCE- POSITIVE Vibes (with a bouncy castle)

00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 541 AM, Saturday, March the 14th. I hope you're

00:00:12.560 having a great Saturday and a great weekend with the big blue mug of coffee. Loving the

00:00:17.260 weekend. We're getting snow in Calgary, temperatures in the double digits by midweek. Hopefully

00:00:22.420 spring is here when it comes to the weather. It's just around the corner when it actually

00:00:26.740 comes to the calendar. I hope you're getting great weather wherever you may live today. Now I wake up

00:00:31.420 this morning thinking, what do I want to talk about today? And sometimes it's a little bit difficult

00:00:36.300 to come up with the topic. There are many things going on. I saw this article, Danielle Smith says

00:00:41.540 Don Cherry should be appointed to the Order of Canada. And then I go over to the National Post,

00:00:46.100 I see this story, bad idea, Quebec Tory MP slammed Don Cherry's Order of Canada nomination. Then I

00:00:52.720 see this article in the Toronto Sun. Carney continues Trudeau's out-of-control spending.

00:00:57.220 And then I see this. Good for Doug Ford. Premier Doug Ford seeking injunction to shut down planned

00:01:01.940 Al-Quds Day rally in Toronto, which is supposed to happen today. So some good news, some bad news,

00:01:08.100 but I wanted to accentuate the positive today and not the negative. So I'm going to focus on

00:01:13.940 something positive. And now 50% of you are clicking away, but that's okay. Everybody wants

00:01:19.040 the negative stuff. It was one week ago where we had an event here in Southeast Calgary at the

00:01:25.500 Auburn Bay Dog Walk Park for the Alberta Independence Movement, a petition signing.

00:01:29.340 Two to three hundred people signed up that day. But the great part of it, besides the petition

00:01:34.420 signing, was the fact that I got to meet so many of you. So many of you came down to meet me. We

00:01:39.740 had a bouncy castle. We had pizza. We had coffee. We had donuts. It was just an outstanding day.

00:01:45.000 and it just showed the exuberance and the positivity of the Alberta independence movement.

00:01:50.240 Now, on that day, I had a chance to talk to a number of people about what's going on right now.

00:01:56.060 Jeevan Mangat, who has had a lot of different hats here in Alberta politics,

00:02:00.300 including being the interim leader of the Wild Rose Independence Party.

00:02:03.580 He's currently a coordinator of canvassers here in the southeast part of Calgary.

00:02:07.080 I spoke with Dennis Kalma, who wrote this book.

00:02:10.060 Let me grab it once again for you.

00:02:11.540 It's just sitting right over here.

00:02:12.900 He co-wrote this, The Value of Freedom.

00:02:14.680 Dennis came out for five hours last Saturday and just talked to people about independence.

00:02:20.060 Corey Morgan showed up, and it was great that Corey just dropped by as he was coming back from his tour with Rebel News.

00:02:26.040 So here are some of the interviews, including my good friend Al Burton, who dropped by with a slow roll that day.

00:02:32.160 We've become very good friends.

00:02:33.580 So some positivity for you here on the channel today.

00:02:36.900 So we're here at the Auburn Bay Dog Walk Park, Bouncy Castle back up.

00:02:40.700 You can see me, see it over the corner of my shoulder here.

00:02:43.860 We've had people dropping by today, and, you know, these events are happening all across the province.

00:02:48.560 I'm lucky enough here to have Jeeva Mangat.

00:02:51.740 What are you?

00:02:52.500 You're an area coordinator?

00:02:54.040 Yeah, I'm a regional leader for one of the writings.

00:02:57.540 So I got about 35 canvases going out there trying to get signatures, making calls.

00:03:03.460 So, you know, working all the time at these pop-up events.

00:03:06.840 So we've had a few pop-ups.

00:03:08.620 And, you know, basically that's what I'm in charge of.

00:03:11.180 Okay, because I have a hard time because you've got so many hats.

00:03:14.680 You do so many things.

00:03:16.720 I'm wearing the right hat today.

00:03:18.900 And we're here with Dennis Kalma.

00:03:20.420 You know Dennis.

00:03:21.100 Dennis, one of the co-writers of The Value of Freedom, out here helping out.

00:03:24.640 Dennis answering some questions.

00:03:27.000 First off, Dennis, how are things going, do you think, with this movement?

00:03:30.420 We heard Mitch Sylvester last night put together a video.

00:03:34.840 We've got a court challenge coming up in April.

00:03:37.220 What are your thoughts on that and how the petition signing is going so far?

00:03:40.980 Well, I think the petition signing is going pretty well.

00:03:43.100 Obviously, we're aiming pretty high.

00:03:44.480 We're going to get to the million votes and our million signatures.

00:03:47.260 And I think that's going to take a bit.

00:03:49.060 But as for the challenges we're seeing, like on the April 7th, is this is the simplest part.

00:03:54.480 I keep telling people this is not in the interest of a lot of people.

00:03:58.220 And we're going to expect more and more resistance and more and more things of this type to get in the way.

00:04:03.540 And we just have to take it and deal with it.

00:04:05.400 Yeah, just a little bit at a time.

00:04:06.800 Now, what are you seeing on the front lines?

00:04:08.440 I know you're out pretty much every weekend, even doing these kind of things, working real hard.

00:04:12.780 You've got a lot of people who are volunteering with you.

00:04:15.400 Are they keeping their spirits pretty high, momentum growing?

00:04:17.920 How do you feel?

00:04:18.800 Yes, you know, my canvassers, they are all very eager and they're very passionate.

00:04:24.260 So they want to contribute as many hours as possible to get as many signatures as possible.

00:04:30.760 So we're out at the front.

00:04:33.100 You know, we don't mind if people flip us the bird.

00:04:36.420 You know, that's their right.

00:04:38.440 But what I'm asking is, if you're just shouting obscenities and flipping us the bird, come and talk to us and find out what the facts are.

00:04:46.580 You know, just don't ignore us, because one of the greatest dangers in Western society is when you have these beliefs that you're against independence.

00:04:55.940 Yeah, but you cannot present your facts.

00:04:58.080 Then it's your your words are just have no value.

00:05:01.340 You know, Dennis, it's interesting.

00:05:03.080 We can move right from what he said there, which even said there to, you know, you answer a lot of questions about this.

00:05:08.440 I remember we were out at one of the events.

00:05:10.800 Actually, I think the event that kicked it off, it was Queensland.

00:05:13.420 It was insane.

00:05:14.500 It was after that, everybody started seeing the lineups.

00:05:17.280 And you were there, answered questions.

00:05:19.280 You were at an event in Dalhousie that I was at up in the northwest here in Calgary.

00:05:22.680 What questions are you getting?

00:05:24.020 And challenges do you hear from people when it comes to the independence movement?

00:05:28.500 So the questions we're getting are sort of repeats all the time.

00:05:31.800 Concerns about the pension, concerns about the dollar, concerns about the process and so forth,

00:05:36.520 which are fairly straightforwardly answered.

00:05:38.920 The challenges we're seeing are things like Trevor Toombs and Kaplan

00:05:42.320 have published documents saying, oh, well, it's going to be a disaster.

00:05:46.520 A rebuttal is coming out soon that I've worked on.

00:05:49.500 But I think what we don't see is any really meaningful challenges

00:05:54.840 that say this will not work.

00:05:57.420 No one, for example, has gone through the Valley of Freedom

00:06:00.220 and said, no, it's fundamentally flawed.

00:06:02.620 Alberta will be broke. It'll fall apart. 1.00

00:06:05.660 No one's saying that.

00:06:06.760 So I think the numbers are sound.

00:06:08.760 I think the challenges can be withstood, but we've got to deal with them one by one.

00:06:11.700 Well, thanks for what you guys are doing.

00:06:13.700 I know you've worked really hard on the value of freedom.

00:06:15.440 I think the Constitution as well.

00:06:17.360 That's a toughie.

00:06:18.580 I'm sure we'll look forward to that in the future.

00:06:20.320 Jeevan, for all you do, and I guess I want to throw it out to all the people, all the coordinators out there, all the people, all the canvassers, all the people on the front lines who are doing events like we're doing here today.

00:06:30.480 Thank them because they're the ones getting the signatures and we need them quick because we've got to do it for Mitch after what he said last night.

00:06:38.060 Oh, definitely for Mitch, Dennis and Jeff Rath.

00:06:41.800 You know, the canvases who are on the front line, like I said before, very passionate.

00:06:46.380 They are the ones doing the work, right?

00:06:48.720 They're the ones that sit outside on a cold day getting maybe 20, 30, 50 signatures.

00:06:54.480 I've, you know, the first time we met or not met, but the first event we held was at Fish Creek Park and we stayed there for maybe five, six hours and we had over 100 signatures.

00:07:04.420 Every signature counts.

00:07:06.000 Yeah.

00:07:06.500 If you haven't signed, sign.

00:07:08.640 We need them now.

00:07:09.500 We need them fast.

00:07:10.140 Thanks, guys.

00:07:10.620 Appreciate it.

00:07:11.200 No problem.

00:07:11.580 Thanks, John.

00:07:17.460 At the Auburn Bay Dog Walk Park, the bouncy castle is going down again.

00:07:21.860 It's been up and down a number of times today.

00:07:23.260 It's been a rather windy day, but I'll tell you, what a great day to have an event like this.

00:07:27.820 Lovely and great people you get to meet.

00:07:30.100 And another great person, Corey Morgan, Western Standard, Corey Morgan Show.

00:07:33.520 Corey, it's great to talk to you. Thanks for coming by today. I appreciate this.

00:07:36.300 Oh, I was thrilled I could make it in time today.

00:07:37.600 Like I said, I've been running around a lot, but I got out early enough to make it down here for this.

00:07:41.040 Well, let me ask you about that. You just got back from another one of the Rebel News Tours.

00:07:44.880 How did that go? It's kind of the tail end, you said to me.

00:07:47.500 Maybe they're more coming because they were successful, weren't they?

00:07:49.660 Yeah, they were. That was the eighth over the last couple of weeks that we've done. And everywhere we've gone, they've just been packed full houses, enthusiastic people. This thing is just, it's not just maintaining the strength, it's gaining. I'm still happily shocked by the strength of this.

00:08:05.720 i've interviewed you a couple of times yeah you tried to do this a long time ago you wrote

00:08:10.200 in your book about it you weren't very successful at it but everybody got together you saw a coming

00:08:16.360 together of a lot of different groups you know you've got the wild rose independence party the

00:08:19.720 independence party you had wexit but everybody's come together over the last couple of years

00:08:25.320 it must be really a great feeling for you who's been wanting this for so long oh it's fantastic

00:08:30.760 absolutely i mean it's never been a matter of caring who is getting this going it's a matter

00:08:34.200 of it getting going and i think some of it's proving itself out something that's different

00:08:38.040 this time is it's a concept that everybody's pursuing not a party and that allows everybody

00:08:42.520 to unify around we're pursuing a yes vote we're pursuing independence we're not worrying about

00:08:47.400 who's going to win which leadership or sit on which board or run in which constituency and all

00:08:50.840 those details that a party has to deal with everybody can remain focused on independence

00:08:55.640 and it's showing i mean this is we've never seen anything like this it's been a great day here i've

00:08:59.400 been really pleased with what's going on down here in the southeast um i want to ask you about mitch

00:09:03.880 Mitch Sylvester. Mitch came out with a really well done video last night, a couple of minutes,

00:09:08.380 talking about this court case coming up in April. And, you know, I think there's some urgency here.

00:09:13.580 I knew that was coming up. But when Mitch came out with that video, he went out with Chris Scott

00:09:17.320 yesterday from the Whistle Stop. You're wearing one of Chris's shirts, by the way. Pretty cool.

00:09:20.660 You might want to pick one of those up. What are your thoughts on that? How do you feel this is

00:09:24.480 going to go? Well, we should just keep that sense of urgency no matter what. I'd like to think if

00:09:28.760 the judge is rational, they're going to throw this out. It's a democratic exercise. They don't

00:09:33.200 have the ability to but we know that judges aren't always rational yeah so i guess assume

00:09:37.640 that they may rule poorly but even then that injunction still might mess with things then

00:09:42.440 going forward even if all the signatures are in uh it would just be a very bad decision to make

00:09:47.400 we we've got a democratic legal means to pursue this and put it to albertans and to interfere

00:09:52.080 like that would only exacerbate the issue this isn't the way to stop the independence movement

00:09:56.720 if somebody wants to stop it they need to reason with people not trying to shut us down because

00:10:00.400 That just inspires more.

00:10:02.220 They're going to see more bouncy castles.

00:10:04.360 You know, I want to just ask you about something.

00:10:06.600 You brought this up with me when you came over today.

00:10:09.140 Thomas Lekasik, the head of the Forever Canadian campaign,

00:10:13.120 they had that question that went before people last year to sign a petition.

00:10:18.100 Didn't have to have ID like they're doing out here in the middle of the summertime,

00:10:20.660 nice and warm, not like this.

00:10:22.320 He wasn't happy with the bouncy castle.

00:10:24.720 No, it upset him.

00:10:27.560 You know, it's funny.

00:10:28.240 I'm triggering these bouncy castles.

00:10:29.520 this is this is one of the funny things with the opponents this independence on how they're taking

00:10:33.780 benign symbols and getting upset with them alberta flags bouncy castles uh i'm sure you know i can't

00:10:40.460 imagine what's going to upset them next as i said my response to the post you know because you said

00:10:44.680 that's yeah what is enticement yeah i said well you know some of the the canvassers will probably

00:10:50.220 be wearing deodorant clothing they might even smile when people come up that's enticement as

00:10:54.640 well get over it fabio right uh well you know i i we had some coffee and some pizza here today i

00:10:59.880 wasn't telling people you can't have pizza and coffee unless you sign the petition anybody was

00:11:03.840 welcome to do that i came out a few weekends ago some people brought that up and and and it was

00:11:08.620 just a great day to hear it was so much fun and i i appreciate you coming by it's always a pleasure

00:11:12.680 to see you thank you oh it's great seeing you thanks for putting all this together i i love

00:11:15.940 seeing it and and just you know a further note i i guess a bit of a thumbs up anyways in a way

00:11:20.300 to somebody who's in opposition to all of this

00:11:23.440 as much as Lukasik, which is Jason Kenney.

00:11:26.320 But I watched that debate with Kenney in the first party.

00:11:29.560 At least Kenney responds with reason,

00:11:31.960 even if I disagree with his reasons.

00:11:33.700 And he's willing to sit up and debate

00:11:35.500 and talk about those things

00:11:36.800 rather than attacking bouncy castles.

00:11:39.100 So I hope that the Federalist movement

00:11:41.480 remains united around Lukasik

00:11:43.180 because they're not going to gain any steam that way.

00:11:45.740 Corey, thanks so much.

00:11:46.640 Thank you.

00:11:47.480 Corey Morgan from the Western Standard.

00:11:48.960 Go over there and subscribe. I'm a subscriber. Help them out.

00:11:52.020 Great journalists over there. And of course, check out Corey on The Corey Morgan Show.

00:12:01.160 Joined now by Al Burton. And I'd like to thank you for coming by today, my friend.

00:12:06.620 No worries. I want to thank you for putting this on. It's terrific.

00:12:09.480 It's been a great success. I'm pretty happy with it.

00:12:12.640 You know, we've got the bouncy castles going up and down, flipping and flopping about as much as Mark Carney

00:12:18.540 when it comes to iran you know love chinook winds yeah yeah but it's a sunny day today lovely day

00:12:24.100 and uh you know we've had what 20 vehicles you guys came by we came up with 20 21 something like

00:12:29.520 that stop by say hi and you're doing a slow roll up to red deer what's this one about today uh on

00:12:34.960 the 21st we're going to be doing the spring into independence cruise we're going to cruise up to

00:12:39.740 red deer edmonton's going to join us in red deer we're going to go all the way up and then from

00:12:43.880 the red deer we're going to head east and go out to the whistle stop cafe and have a hopefully

00:12:47.960 another bouncy house out there and more party out there fantastic but today you're going up

00:12:51.960 you're going up to red deer today as well no today we're just going over to deerfoot down to uh denny's

00:12:56.600 i'm going to hang out there for a little while awesome that's good hanging around calgary well

00:13:00.460 that's fantastic and how do people get involved if they want to be part of these boy be something

00:13:04.380 if you got 20 vehicles rolling in here right now it's awesome you could add to that and get

00:13:08.060 a huge role we're putting together a facebook page and a youtube page is going to be called

00:13:12.720 cruised independence and we'll be able to put all the information there we've got edmonton here

00:13:17.080 today we've got red deer represented here today and we're going to put it all together and we're

00:13:21.440 all going to get on the same page and get a unified front for this you've been all over the

00:13:27.800 place i know i think you're all bamf about a week ago you've been rolling all over the place um

00:13:32.080 why are you out here doing this all the time you're spending a lot of time with this movement

00:13:35.860 it's worth it there's no way we can stay within confederation because it's going down the pipes

00:13:41.560 as fast as you can look at it like every time carney opens his mouth he gives us another reason

00:13:45.300 to not be here right so we've got to get away from it before our this ship's totally sunk we

00:13:50.320 got to get on that lifecraft and get out you um you clued me into chris scott doing that interview

00:13:55.360 with mitch sylvester yesterday i i knew that there was this course court case coming up what did you

00:13:59.880 make of mitch's video that he put out uh you probably have seen it really well done about

00:14:04.880 two minutes long urging people to get out to sign right now uh april 7th to 10th there's this court

00:14:10.060 case going on what did you make of that uh a sense of urgency yeah why wouldn't we get out and sign

00:14:15.580 as soon as possible sun's shining it's beautiful outside we need it all the gophers need to get

00:14:18.940 out of their hole and come out and sign right yeah that's right we need to get this done as

00:14:22.600 fast as possible because even if it doesn't stop us what if right we need to get as many signatures

00:14:28.600 as fast as possible so that when it comes time we can prove to the federal government and the

00:14:33.400 provincial government that we've got the support that we need to make this happen right right yeah

00:14:37.400 you know what is it um too big to rig exactly too big it's gotta be too big to rig thanks for what

00:14:43.800 you're doing man thanks for coming by thank you john it's awesome you know what's been great no

00:14:47.440 i met some really good friends through this movement yeah that's for sure and you got you

00:14:51.220 and you and mrs al there are becoming good friends and we got to meet your wife today

00:14:55.720 yeah awesome oh it's awesome yeah yeah so i got to meet your wife you met mine thanks so much

00:15:01.060 awesome thank you i wanted to thank everybody for coming out to the auburn bay dog walk park

00:15:06.180 An absolutely amazing success.

00:15:09.380 And I'd like to thank Orbitz Bouncy Castles for bringing the castle here today.

00:15:15.340 OrbitzBouncyCastles.ca is the website.

00:15:18.500 He can bring these things out anywhere.

00:15:20.960 So let him know about it.

00:15:23.400 You know what, it's a little tiring doing this.

00:15:25.980 I'll let the kids get back in.

00:15:27.640 Thanks for coming.

00:15:28.880 It has been awesome here.

00:15:30.840 Sign the petition for independence.

00:15:33.480 Thanks again to everyone that dropped by that day.

00:15:36.180 You know what's amazing about this is I had been planning that event for quite a long time

00:15:41.180 and was concerned about weather, and I picked Saturday, March the 7th, come hell or high

00:15:46.660 waters, what I think I said, and it was a lovely, beautiful day, a little windy in the

00:15:50.860 morning, but the sun came out, it was calm in the afternoon, probably got up into the

00:15:54.660 mid-teens, and the next day, Calgary got hit with a ton of snow, and it's been cold all

00:16:00.140 week, and it is snowing this morning as well, with warmer weather coming.

00:16:04.400 But what's really remarkable is the fact that we had a beautiful day for our event on March the 7th.

00:16:10.380 And all week long, I have seen people wearing parkas, sitting at tables in snowstorms, signing people up on the petition.

00:16:18.760 And these are the heroes of the Alberta independence movement.

00:16:21.920 So go out and support them.

00:16:23.420 And if you go by, drop them off a cup of coffee if you happen to see them sitting at the side of the road.

00:16:28.380 And tell them how much they are appreciated.

00:16:30.740 If you haven't signed the petition, as Mitch says, let's go!

00:16:34.400 What are you waiting for? Sign the petition now. We might only have about three weeks left

00:16:40.420 because we've got that court case coming up on April the 7th. Thanks a lot for watching.

00:16:45.160 I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, please give it a thumbs up. Subscribe to the channel,

00:16:54.640 in the next one.
