00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 354 a.m. Wednesday, December the 31st, the last day
00:00:10.260 of 2025. Happy New Year to you. I'm doing this video just before 4 a.m. in the morning. I plan
00:00:16.780 on putting it up a little bit later in the day today, and I'm reaching out to you if you are
00:00:21.760 a friend in independence here in Alberta. And I don't think I'm being overly alarmist here. Some
00:00:30.100 people might say that. And the thumbnail that you looked at is not clickbait. I'm being very serious
00:00:36.540 when I talk about this subject, and it's something I've been thinking about, and I've been talking to
00:00:40.300 some people about it over the last 24 hours, and I'm quite concerned right now. I'm concerned as we
00:00:45.900 get closer to having a signature campaign going on, probably within the next week in Alberta,
00:00:51.200 signatures to get a referendum on independence. It's here. I was talking with some people
00:00:58.420 yesterday. Folks, there are hundreds of people ready to go out and get signatures across this
00:01:03.320 province, and I think that's great. As a matter of fact, I'm hoping to set something up myself that
00:01:08.680 I'm going to do regularly between now and the end of the signature signing campaign. I'll let you know
00:01:14.060 about that. Something I was thinking about yesterday. But what concerns me is that I think
00:01:21.060 you need to watch your back if you're part of this movement, and you're actively campaigning
00:01:26.280 in favor of it. I was looking online the other day, and it's probably best not to do that.
00:01:33.400 You know, I don't go on X a lot. I don't. I go there for news. I think it's toxic. I think
00:01:37.480 our world would be a better place without social media. I think you'd probably agree with me.
00:01:41.220 But I saw this tweet. I'm going to move myself over here a little bit.
00:01:47.340 I saw this tweet, and this is Rachel Parker talking with Jeff Rath about Jeff going to talk
00:01:53.440 to people in Washington regarding the independence movement here, which I think is necessary. And
00:01:57.800 this is us dotting our I's, crossing our T's. We're going into a vote on independence this year,
00:02:04.200 knowing where other countries are when it comes to our independence here in Alberta. And that's a good
00:02:08.760 thing. We need to do these things. But you get this guy, Clinton DeVoe, and I'm not afraid to put
00:02:13.220 his name up there. He put this on X. He obviously wants this to be public. A little tyrant that he
00:02:19.480 is. If this is true, it means the United States is now a strategic enemy of Canada. The two people
00:02:25.200 in the video should have all of their physical movements tracked by CSIS and all electronic
00:02:29.780 communications data tracked by the CSE. He's talking about Rachel and Jeff. How many times have I
00:02:35.120 spoken to Jeff about the same thing and other things and other people in the independence
00:02:41.340 movement? This guy obviously thinks I need to be tracked by CSIS. Now, I just, I'm going to be
00:02:49.600 blunt here. It's quite possible this is already happening. We don't know, but you've got to know
00:02:55.700 damn well that the federal government is watching the people in the independence movement out here and
00:03:00.880 the big voices in the independence movement. But this is tyranny. And then I see this article
00:03:05.100 this morning. Is it treason for Alberta separatists to maneuver with foreign officials? Ottawa says no.
00:03:12.660 But you're hearing words like treason and sedition being thrown around by people who don't want
00:03:18.980 Alberta independence or don't understand what the hell is going on here. And to be honest with you,
00:03:25.800 them not understanding is actually one of our strengths, which I'll get to in just a moment.
00:03:29.780 But if you read in this article a little bit, it goes on and on talking about treason and that there
00:03:35.980 are no laws against it here, or somebody like Jeff going to talk to the United States about what he's
00:03:40.700 talking about. But there was this paragraph here when separatist organizer Jeffrey Rath claimed last
00:03:46.700 week he was meeting with officials connected to the White House to garner support for Alberta's
00:03:51.060 independence. Edmonton talk show host, Crank, Ryan Jesperson responded by saying,
00:03:56.940 quote, in a lot of countries, this tomfoolery would get you strung up for treason, unquote.
00:04:05.780 And in that quote is another reason, or is another one of our strengths, which I'll get to in just a
00:04:12.140 moment. But I'm just trying to tell you, and again, I don't think I'm being alarmist here. Watch your back.
00:04:19.300 Be very careful if you're out collecting signatures. If you go to a house and people start getting mad at
00:04:29.500 you or yelling at you or seem threatening, walk away. We do not need altercations at people's front
00:04:37.440 doors. This will not be good for the movement, but you certainly do not need to be attacked by some nut
00:04:42.280 who feels patriotic and wants to remain in Canada. You're wasting your time with these people. Just
00:04:49.100 walk away. I get concerned myself, and I know that I worry about some of the big names in the
00:04:55.660 independence movement out here, and they're watching their backs as well. So if you're going out on the
00:04:59.600 roads, watch your back and be very, very careful. Just walk away. That person is not going to change
00:05:06.220 their minds. So you're wasting your time talking to them. Now, the other thing in this article,
00:05:12.100 and I mentioned what Jesperson says here, tomfoolery, he calls it. And down in the article
00:05:17.380 here, a little bit further, they talk to somebody about the legal framework when it comes to laws and
00:05:23.920 treason, as you can see here, sedition and espionage. Canada's existing legal framework of criminal laws
00:05:30.540 prohibiting treason, sedition, and espionage set the bar for prosecution so high as to make
00:05:36.040 prosecution almost inconceivable with regard to the Albertans' meetings, said Yuan Yi Zhu, a Canadian
00:05:43.340 professor of international relations and law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. Zhu said
00:05:48.680 that the lack of a popular mandate for Alberta separation with no open separatists currently
00:05:53.680 holding elected office and polls showing most Albertans opposed to the idea is legally irrelevant.
00:05:59.340 There is no law against being a crank, said Zhu. Mr. Zhu and other people are underestimating the
00:06:07.860 power of the independence movement here in Alberta, and it's one of our strengths.
00:06:12.580 They don't get it. Mr. Zhu, does he live in the Netherlands? He doesn't know what's going on in
00:06:17.100 Alberta. People in the East don't understand what's going on in Alberta. Read some of the comments on
00:06:23.600 stories regarding Alberta independence. They have no idea what's going on out here. This is a growing
00:06:27.980 movement. It's going to take us some time to get over the top, but I think we're going to win this
00:06:32.460 thing, and them underestimating us is one of our strengths. You'll remember the Brexit vote.
00:06:42.960 There was no way that that was going to ever pass. In England, it did. They won. Came out of left field.
00:06:51.500 They were underestimated. There was something else that we'll never ever, and I'll never forget,
00:06:56.740 was how they underestimated Donald Trump. And this is prior to him first being elected,
00:07:03.360 but here's Ann Coulter on with Bill Maher. You might remember this.
00:07:07.720 Ann, which Republican candidate has the best chance of winning the general election?
00:07:12.680 Of the declared ones right now, Donald Trump.
00:07:15.620 They laughed. Keep laughing, folks. Keep underestimating us. But folks, if you're going
00:07:31.800 out in the road and you're collecting signatures, please watch your back and be safe. Have a happy
00:07:37.360 new year. I'll be talking to you again before the end of the day. I appreciate you being here. I really
00:07:41.860 do. Thanks very much for watching. If you like the video, give it a thumbs up. Subscribe to the
