00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 440 a.m. Thursday, July the 23rd. I hope you're having a
00:00:09.180 great Thursday and a fantastic week as well. I tip the big blue mug of coffee to you today.
00:00:14.300 I appreciate you being here. I'm going to keep this video short. Thumbs up, by the way. Give
00:00:18.980 it a thumbs up if you like the shorter videos. I would appreciate that. Why go on for 20 minutes
00:00:23.500 when you can get it done in less than 10? I'm going to try to do that today. So we're going
00:00:27.680 to learn a couple of things today. We're going to talk about a huge story in a different way.
00:00:31.800 And I like to give a different perspective on this. It dawned on me this morning
00:00:34.820 what I wanted to talk about. We're going to have a game. We're going to play a game. We're going
00:00:39.360 to play a guess the quote game. I do this on occasion. You can use your historical knowledge
00:00:44.140 to guess the quote. You may not know this quote. There's nothing wrong with that.
00:00:47.800 But I'm going to reveal who said this quote in a grainy 1969 black and white video. All right.
00:00:54.480 One of my earliest memories is my mother saying of the person who said this quote,
00:00:58.500 he is so arrogant, he is, I dislike this man, but his quote is true.
00:01:03.260 And we're going to have that for you in just a moment. 0.93
00:01:04.760 So guess the quote in just a moment.
00:01:06.460 We're going to learn the amazing bargaining power of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
00:01:10.940 We're also going to see how a bridge is a metaphor for the failure of Mark Carney.
00:01:14.940 I don't think anybody's put this together, but we're going to do it for you folks in
00:01:18.380 just a couple of minutes in this short video.
00:01:20.640 But what I want to talk about first is this.
00:01:23.260 I hate when people give you, it's either this or this. That's the way I'll put it.
00:01:29.980 The premier is either being incredibly stupid or naive, when it could be both. I hate when people 1.00
00:01:35.620 do that. It's either this or this. Sometimes it can be both. So let's start off with Donald Trump.
00:01:40.820 We're talking about the tariff thing. Not getting into the details, but more tariffs, folks. And boy,
00:01:46.180 there was a picture of the premiers who were meeting with a lot of glum faces over this, folks,
00:01:50.900 because the tariffs are biting Canada in the behind.
00:01:54.420 But Donald Trump is an incredibly difficult person to deal with.
00:01:59.020 I think everybody can agree with that.
00:02:01.440 Whether you like Donald Trump or not, he's difficult to deal with.
00:02:04.040 This is his trade style.
00:02:05.140 This is the art of the deal for Donald Trump.
00:02:08.600 He's difficult to deal with.
00:02:10.720 But there's something else that can be true at the same time.
00:02:13.440 Mark Carney is the wrong person to be dealing with Donald Trump.
00:02:17.260 When he was said to be the best person to deal with Donald Trump,
00:02:20.340 you've seen the headlines. Both of these things can be true at the same time. I've been saying
00:02:25.480 for close to 18 months, give or take a month or two, Carney has been dragging out the trade deal
00:02:31.340 because it benefits him and the Liberal Party and keeps their poll numbers high. He played people
00:02:37.200 for suckers and fools to vote for his party over this. People were just hopping mad when Donald 1.00
00:02:43.100 Trump put these tariffs in place again. But here's the thing. The United States economy is 10 times
00:02:48.900 candidates. We do 75, 80% of our trade with the United States of America. And when it comes right
00:02:55.240 down to it, the United States is going to win this trade war, period. So Mark Carney has said
00:03:02.980 he's willing to talk with Donald Trump and to ramp up the trade discussions. Well, that should
00:03:08.000 have happened 18 months ago. We should have had a deal. And again, I'll go back to this.
00:03:11.820 We could have had a trade deal if we'd voted for the other guy last April 28th or the previous
00:03:16.980 April 28th, last year, 2025. So let's look at our quote today. Here is our quote, because the
00:03:22.680 difficulty with the United States is not new. This goes back a long way, folks. This is not new.
00:03:29.160 Trump is certainly a different animal when it comes to this. And I'm saying animal specifically 0.82
00:03:34.100 because of our quote today. Here is our quote. Who said this? Living next to you is in some ways
00:03:42.480 like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast,
00:03:48.520 if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt. Now, this quote comes from
00:03:55.180 1969. Think about it. Do you know who said this? I'll give you a few seconds.
00:04:05.380 Here's the answer. Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant.
00:04:10.040 No matter how friendly or even tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt.
00:04:24.320 Kudos to you if you said it was Pierre Trudeau.
00:04:27.420 And this relationship has always been strained, but we've always done most of our trade with the United States of America.
00:04:33.800 And that continues.
00:04:34.520 but when it comes right down to it, the United States are going to win any trade war because
00:04:38.520 they're just huge compared to us. We're like a mouse. They're the elephant of the room. And
00:04:43.480 Pierre Trudeau was right. It's one of the few things he said was actually true. He also said
00:04:48.040 the government has no place in people's bedrooms. That's the only other thing that Pierre Trudeau
00:04:51.980 said that I agree with. But what has Canada done to fight back against the United States of America?
00:04:59.140 we have taken alcohol off our shelves. I mean, this is akin to a hissy fit. You know, I'd almost
00:05:05.460 say we should put American, let me bring that up on the screen. We should almost put American booze
00:05:10.780 back on the shelves because you have to be half blind drunk in order to accept this ridiculous 0.97
00:05:15.180 government we've got here in Canada and a prime minister like Mark Carney. Okay. 0.95
00:05:21.540 But let's talk about the bridge situation because this is quite remarkable. I don't know whether
00:05:27.420 anybody else has put this together. Here's the story right here. Of course, the Gordie Howe Bridge
00:05:32.100 has been in the news over the last week. Text of the Gordie Howe Bridge deal with U.S. contradicts
00:05:38.120 Carney's initial description. Carney caved on this one, folks. Okay, so what has this got to
00:05:43.560 do with the failure of Mark Carney? Well, Gordie Howe was known as a hockey player that would go
00:05:49.360 into the corners with his elbows up. He was known for this, and this bridge is now a metaphor for
00:05:56.260 the failure of Mark Carney and elbows up. I don't think anybody else has put two and two together
00:06:02.480 with this, but this is true as well. Now, let's talk about the bargaining power of Alberta and
00:06:07.840 Saskatchewan. Here's Doug Ford. Of course, Doug wants us, meaning Alberta and Saskatchewan,
00:06:13.740 he wants us to block oil and potash exports to the U.S. in the trade war. It got a cold response.
00:06:19.860 Now, what I'd like to say to Doug Ford, who is the king of the hissy fit, you remember him pouring
00:06:25.000 out the bottle of booze. What I'd like to say to Doug Ford is, why are you using Alberta's
00:06:30.140 resources and Saskatchewan's resources as your bargaining tool? Why don't you shut down the
00:06:35.040 Ontario automotive industry for a week, Doug? Why don't you do that? The integration between the
00:06:40.420 Canadian and American automotive industries is huge. Lots of things going back and forth across
00:06:46.200 the border. Doug, shut it down for a week. Think of the pain you can inflict on those awful
00:06:52.120 Americans if you did that, but you don't want to risk the Ontario economy. Let's make the West do
00:06:57.300 that. Let's make Alberta and Saskatchewan risk their economies for the East. Very typical of 0.96
00:07:02.640 an Easterner to dictate what's going to happen to the West. This is the way things always have been 1.00
00:07:07.460 and always will be unless something changes, which brings us along to the negotiating power
00:07:12.180 of Alberta and Saskatchewan. It's funny how these Easterners prove our point all the time.
00:07:17.200 We're told we haven't got a leg to stand on. If we leave, Canada will dictate all the terms. 1.00
00:07:23.120 I go back to this tweet from Jason Kenney, former premier of Alberta, one of the forever Canadian
00:07:28.660 types. I'm a grifter. I'm a con artist. Not making any money here, folks. By definition, 0.72
00:07:33.660 an independent Alberta equals no more Canadian citizenship, no more Canadian passport. The East
00:07:38.500 dictating what the West will and will not have if we leave. I don't care. Gladly giving up my 0.93
00:07:43.880 citizenship in my passport for an independent Alberta. But it's the next thing that makes me
00:07:48.500 sick. And that's what people like Jason Kenney say. Entitlement benefits like OAS and CPP would
00:07:54.560 be subject to negotiation with Ottawa dictating terms, threatening the only income of senior
00:08:01.200 citizens because Alberta wants to leave. And if we leave, they feel they're going to be able to
00:08:06.040 cut people off. How sick is that? But here's the negotiating terms that Alberta has. And Doug Ford
00:08:12.220 proved it. Mr. Kenney, if you don't negotiate with us on good terms, we'll shut down your oil
00:08:18.320 and gas. Maybe in the middle of the wintertime. How do you like that? Now let's go back to my
00:08:24.160 original point. Two things can be true at the same time. Nobody else is saying it. Yes, Donald Trump
00:08:29.900 difficult to deal with. Mark Carney, the wrong person to deal with Donald Trump. You elected
00:08:36.060 the wrong guy and the wrong party on April 28th, 2025.
00:08:41.600 Thanks for watching.

00:08:49.120 Did I keep it under 10?
