John Bolton - Two Provinces, Two Futures： Alberta Builds, Ontario Begs.

00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel Tuesday, March 31st.

00:00:06.980 Great to have you along today, 3.56 a.m. with the Big Blue Mug of Coffee.

00:00:10.900 Thanks so much for being here today.

00:00:12.760 I do appreciate it.

00:00:14.720 And I woke up scratching my head this morning.

00:00:17.140 I checked the news just after 2.30 this morning and wanted to talk about a couple of things.

00:00:22.780 But there was one thing that's very exciting I wanted to bring up that doesn't seem related

00:00:27.360 to the other thing I'm going to talk about this morning. And then I thought, you know, there is

00:00:32.000 no relation, but there is a connection here. There's an opportunity here. There's a teachable

00:00:38.000 moment in this video. There's an opportunity to describe the difference between Alberta

00:00:42.940 and Ontario and Alberta and Canada. It deals with the Alberta independence movement and Carney's

00:00:49.380 new plan, along with Doug Ford, to build houses in Ontario. So the first thing I want to talk

00:00:54.420 about is this. This is exciting. We hit the magic signature number, but it ain't over yet. Last

00:00:59.360 night, Mitch Sylvester from Stay Free Alberta said we reached the threshold of 177,000 plus

00:01:05.620 signatures to get a referendum question in the fall for Alberta to leave Canada. I can assure you

00:01:11.460 that this number is much higher. And don't forget coming up on Saturday,

00:01:15.880 Canvas or Appreciation Day, more on that coming up. As a matter of fact, I'm going to be talking

00:01:20.100 to Jeff Rath. Later this morning, I should have a video with him up around 11 o'clock

00:01:24.900 to talk about this and us moving forward, including the court case next week.

00:01:30.360 What has this got to do with Carney's new housing plan that he announced in Ontario

00:01:36.420 with Doug Ford? And I believe Olivia Chow, the communist Chinese mayor of Toronto.

00:01:42.520 Well, I'm going to show you in stark terms the difference between what's going on in Ontario

00:01:46.980 and Canada and what happens here in Alberta and the different mindset in just a moment in very

00:01:51.620 stark terms. What did Carney say yesterday? Listen closely to what he had to say. So cutting

00:01:59.480 development charges was a key commitment of our housing plan and today we're delivering on that

00:02:05.060 because of the historic agreement with Ontario. Development charges across this province and I'm

00:02:13.400 to repeat this because this is important. Development charges across this province are

00:02:18.000 reduced by half for three years. And while we reduce by half, we're still building the

00:02:35.140 essential infrastructure. Through the Build Community Strong Fund, Canada will invest

00:02:41.120 4.4 billion dollars over 10 years matched by Ontario a total of 8.8 billion to build the

00:02:50.920 housing enabling infrastructure and reduce the development charges. Do you understand what Mark

00:02:57.960 Carney is actually saying here? Because it might have slipped by. Is he actually cutting development

00:03:04.040 charges? The first words out of his mouth. We're cutting development charges by pitching in 4.4

00:03:10.680 billion dollars federally and the Ontario government will match those funds. Is that

00:03:15.260 what's happening? Let's take a look at an article from the Canadian Broadcorp incastration. Ford

00:03:20.240 Carney announced $8.8 billion to help cut development charges, spur housing builds in

00:03:25.440 Ontario. Just a bit of this story. Ontario and Ottawa will spend billions to help cut municipal

00:03:31.980 housing development charges in an effort to spur new builds across the province. Prime Minister

00:03:36.780 Mark Carney, and Premier Doug Ford announced on Monday. My cat is knocking things over in the

00:03:41.040 background here. The federal and provincial governments will each spend $4.4 billion.

00:03:46.280 The majority of the $8.8 billion in funding is intended to help cover infrastructure costs

00:03:51.500 for municipalities that lower development charges. Is he cutting development charges? No.

00:03:58.680 The government of Canada and the government of Ontario are subsidizing development charges.

00:04:04.540 they're not cutting development charges. Do you remember what Pierre Polyev talked about

00:04:10.540 when he talked about housing prior to the election last year? He had like a five-point

00:04:14.560 plan. I won't get into all of it, but his main part of his plan was get the government out of

00:04:20.020 the way. I can go back to my friend Ronald Reagan, who had a great quote here.

00:04:26.880 Government does not solve problems, it subsidizes them. And that's what this is. But this has been

00:04:34.040 part of the plan all along, folks. I'm going to show you the difference in the mindset between

00:04:38.600 Alberta and Ontario and Canada in just a moment. And it makes me mad, very mad. It's why I want

00:04:45.080 Alberta independence. You're going to understand a little bit more in just a second. Out of the

00:04:48.780 words from Danielle Smith. What did Carney say during the election? He created a whole new set

00:04:58.620 books, folks. This is part of his spend less, invest more plan. I have a simple rule. Spend

00:05:03.820 less, invest more. A government that spends less so that Canada can invest more. To spend

00:05:09.120 less and invest more. Depends moins, invest plus. He said that over and over again during

00:05:18.220 the election campaign and since. You were warned about this. We could see what was coming,

00:05:23.140 folks. Let me ask you, Canadian taxpayer, Ontario taxpayer, what category would you put the $4.4

00:05:32.580 billion Carney is contributing to this Ontario housing scheme? Where would you put it? Do you

00:05:39.040 put this in the spending category or the investing category? Spend less, invest more. Well, Carney's

00:05:45.280 putting it into investing, but it's not investing, it's spending and it's your money. People in

00:05:50.040 Canada are subsidizing homes in Ontario and people in Ontario get a double whammy, federal taxes,

00:05:56.680 provincial taxes to subsidize houses in Toronto. And you can't afford food or pay for your own

00:06:02.140 damn mortgage anymore. But Carney's going to say this is an investment. At the end of the year, 0.98

00:06:06.480 two sets of books. At the end of the year, spending's down folks, but we're investing

00:06:10.240 more, but it's your money. Now here's the difference between Ontario and the mindset

00:06:15.180 here in Alberta. See, Ontario wants a handout so they can build houses. Alberta wants to build a

00:06:20.380 pipeline. They want nothing to do with the federal government and Carney won't help out at all by

00:06:25.500 cutting the rules and regulations to build something here. Here's Danielle Smith saying, 1.00

00:06:30.180 if we have to have the government fund our pipeline, it's a failure. And she said this

00:06:34.360 over and over again. This was her on Jasmine Lane. We've had a constant barrage over the last 10 years 0.84

00:06:41.140 of a government that has clearly been trying to do everything they could to keep oil and gas

00:06:45.840 in the ground. So guess what happens when that occurs? Private sector says, well, if you don't

00:06:50.700 want us, we'll go elsewhere. And they did. They went elsewhere around the world. Now what we're

00:06:54.400 trying to do is to undo a lot of those terrible policies so that we can attract the private

00:07:00.520 sector back. I certainly wouldn't look at having to build another pipeline with government money

00:07:06.680 as being a success it would be i think a failure of the exercise the exercise we're going through

00:07:11.240 right now yeah doug ford out there with his buddy mark carney both of them grinning ear to ear i

00:07:16.520 think olivia chow just off to the side at that news conference yesterday happy as can be canadian 1.00

00:07:21.880 taxpayers and ontario taxpayers are subsidizing housing in the toronto area what a great success

00:07:27.880 mark carney he's fulfilled an election promise elbows up folks

00:07:32.680 meanwhile here in alberta all we want to do is build a pipeline and keep the government out of

00:07:39.460 it no but folks we got a memorandum of understanding

00:07:46.040 a round of applause inside the room there various ministers from both the federal and

00:07:54.980 provincial governments present as the premier and the prime minister shake hands after signing

00:07:59.480 a memorandum of understanding you know what's even worse albertans pay five thousand dollars

00:08:06.040 for every man woman and child into equalization payments that goes out east every year and ontario

00:08:13.640 is a have-not province and gets some of that money so albertans who can't get a pipeline built

00:08:18.680 without government involvement are probably paying a larger portion of this money that is going

00:08:25.320 towards this so-called housing scheme of Mark Carney and Doug Ford.

00:08:32.380 Let me know what you think in the comments. If you liked the video, give it a thumbs up,
