00:00:00.000 Mr. Scheer, Andrew Lawton from True North.
00:00:02.300 We've seen over the last 14 hours growing talk online of Alberta separation
00:00:07.820 and more broadly brewing for the last several months
00:00:10.700 and a boiling point last night of Western alienation.
00:00:13.760 What is your message to Albertan conservatives, Saskatchewan conservatives
00:00:17.920 that are basically ready to throw in the towel on Canada?
00:00:21.260 Well, I believe in Canada and I believe that this country can work for all Canadians in all provinces.
00:00:26.160 So my message to the people of Alberta and Saskatchewan is we hear you loud and clear.
00:00:29.520 We will fight for you.
00:00:30.800 We will do everything we can to make sure that this Liberal government understands
00:00:34.340 that it has to change course.
00:00:35.820 It cannot continue to attack our energy sector,
00:00:38.920 to kill big projects that get our natural resources around the world
00:00:43.040 and that we will do everything we can to get our energy sector back on its feet
00:00:46.640 and make sure that all Canadians understand that when Western Canada succeeds, all Canadians succeed.
00:00:52.100 Manufacturing jobs in Ontario and Quebec rely on a growing energy sector.
00:00:56.540 Refinery jobs in Atlantic Canada depend on a strong and vibrant energy sector.
00:01:02.100 We will do that very important work.
00:01:03.840 We will be that strong voice.
00:01:05.880 This is the first step and we will continue to fight and prepare
00:01:09.640 for when this government falls, we will be ready to replace it.
00:01:12.960 So my message to Alberta and Saskatchewan is that we have heard you, we will fight for you.
00:01:26.180 We will ensure that all Canadians know that when the Western Canada succeed, all Canadians succeed.
00:01:32.400 We must have a country that works for all regions, for all provinces.
00:01:37.080 And the results yesterday showed that the approach of Justin Trudeau has failed.
00:01:42.840 We are a more divided country than perhaps in our history.
00:01:47.800 And it's the responsibility of Justin Trudeau to change his direction.
00:01:51.880 If you look in the greater Toronto area and other parts of Ontario,
00:01:55.820 ridings that Stephen Harper carried in 2011, that Doug Ford carried last year,
00:02:00.040 why were the Conservatives not able to elect the candidates they needed in these parts of the country?
00:02:05.860 Well, obviously we were hoping for better results.
00:02:10.140 Obviously we were hoping that we would gain significantly in those areas that you mentioned.
00:02:16.480 But I will point out that we made incredible steps last night.
00:02:21.120 A million more votes than ever before for our party.
00:02:24.700 More votes for our party.
00:02:26.260 More Canadians supported my platform and our team last night than any other party.
00:02:31.260 So there's a lot of reasons to be encouraged.
00:02:33.660 And we're going to go through the results and analyze the campaign
00:02:36.660 and address what didn't work and do more of what did work.
00:02:40.220 Well, it's obvious that we would aim to do better in Ontario and other regions.
00:02:51.040 But there are a lot of good signs.
00:02:53.820 We have won more votes than any other party.
00:02:58.360 There are several Canadians who voted for me and our team
00:03:03.560 than the other chefs and other parties.
00:03:05.700 We're going to do an analysis of this campaign and address the challenges
00:03:10.340 and improve our approach for the next time.
