00:03:03.040 seen long time in Canadian politics, just happened last week in Toronto. Thursday, December 14th,

00:03:08.820 Socialist Mayor Olivia Chow and all of city council, they all voted unanimously to rename the city's

00:03:15.220 iconic Dundas Square. What will the new name be? Well, they decided it will be called Sankofa Square.

00:03:21.000 Dundas had to go, according to the Marxists who think they run the city of Toronto, because of his

00:03:24.880 namesake, Henry Dundas, and his alleged connections to slavery. So was Dundas a slave trader? Did he own

00:03:31.260 slaves? Did he create slavery, as many on the left would have he believe? No, quite the opposite,

00:03:36.260 actually. Henry Dundas was an abolitionist. He fought for the emancipation of slaves. He sponsored

00:03:40.480 many bills to end slavery, including a bill to end hereditary slave ownership, and he helped convince

00:03:45.160 the British to wage a war that would eventually lead to the end of the transatlantic slave trade.

00:03:50.760 But according to the woke academics, because he advocated for a gradual change instead of an

00:03:55.160 overnight revolution, I guess that was evil, so there you have it. Dundas had to go. So what about this

00:04:00.920 new name, Sankofa? Where did it come from and what does it mean? Is it named after a brave native

00:04:05.820 warrior of First Nations tribe in Canada? Does it have any significant meaning to this land or to

00:04:11.560 Canada? No, absolutely not. It has absolutely nothing to do with Canada, nothing to do with our

00:04:17.520 country, and nothing to do with our history. The new name, Sankofa, comes from an African tribe called

00:04:22.820 the Akan tribe, and it means something like to go back and get it. Okay, so the name was apparently in

00:04:27.660 an effort to make black Canadians feel more at home or empowered or something. Let me just quickly

00:04:32.320 point out, I pointed this out on the program before, but the vast, overwhelming majority, more than 90%

00:04:37.460 of black people in Canada are themselves first-generation or second-generation Canadians, meaning that they

00:04:42.800 either emigrated themselves or their parents did this according to Statistics Canada. 92% of black

00:04:48.780 people in Canada chose Canada or their parents chose Canada. So if Canada were truly a racist, white 0.96

00:05:30.780 traders. Yes, you heard that correctly. They had their hand in creating the transatlantic slave trade,

00:05:35.180 believe it or not. According to Wilkes, the Akan exchanged their gold for these slaves, who rewarded 1.00

00:05:40.600 their Akan masters by creating an agricultural revolution during the 15th and 16th century.

00:05:45.180 Yes, the Akan people imported slaves to help clear their forests, where they searched for gold. But 0.95

00:06:34.460 just like this, that we learned about a new statue being erected up the road in Branton, Ontario, some 20 miles

00:06:40.180 away from Dundas Square. What kind of statue, may I ask? Well, this is a 55-foot statue of a Hindu god.

00:07:22.760 a little. He sent me this description explaining his source for why he called Hanuman a monkey

00:07:32.960 description of Hanuman. It says, Hanuman, in Hindu mythology, is the monkey commander of the monkey army.

00:07:38.100 His exploits are narrated in the great Hindu Sanskrit poem, Rama's Journey. So, he didn't

00:07:43.960 just make it up. He has a source. If you don't like his language, take it up with the Encyclopedia

00:07:52.940 disrespectful towards others' religions. Religious freedom includes the right to criticize and to mock 0.98

00:08:51.920 Secondly, Hindus are model immigrants. They're some of the best. I respect them, and I have no problem

00:08:56.120 with practicing their religion. In Canada, once again, I truly think it is great. But, on a visceral level,

00:09:37.620 Canada. I'll give you a personal example. My family and I are looking to buy an acreage in suburban

00:09:48.520 and when we were going to put together an offer to buy it, we found out that it was in something

00:09:52.500 called the Oak Ridge's Moraine, which is a protected area where, I kid you not, the government will not

00:09:58.740 allow you to tear down a single tree. They won't allow you to so much as build a shed on your property,

00:10:44.960 club reporter is a guy I actually have a great deal of respect for. He said, agree, bro. We ain't

00:10:49.960 paying for it. Who gives an F? Well, libertarians, let me tell you why some Canadians do give an F.

00:10:56.040 There is a deeper moral and psychological issue here that some are trying to gloss over. Canada is a

00:11:02.160 country, at present, that tears down its own statues from Sir John A to Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth,

00:11:07.780 Eckersen Ryerson, and Henry Dundas. Canada is a country where 83 churches were desecrated or burnt to the

00:11:13.660 ground in the summer of 2021. And our elites barely noticed it, barely batted an eye. Our government

00:11:18.500 tells us that Christmas is contemptible. And that saying Merry Christmas is a form of religious

00:11:23.060 intolerance and bigotry. We saw Santa Claus inside a mall just north of Toronto being protested by

00:11:29.480 Hamas supporters. And we saw Hamas supporters in downtown Toronto telling Christmas shoppers to go

00:11:35.060 F themselves and uttering violent threats. Our government recently rejected the idea of December

00:11:39.940 being named Christian Heritage Month. After all, Canada was founded by religious Christians

00:11:44.200 in pursuit of religious liberty and based fundamentally on Christian values and ideals.

00:11:49.340 Shouldn't we maybe teach the next generation about those values and how they helped create our

00:11:53.880 country? Well, no way bigot. Talking about Christianity is wrong. That's what we're told.

00:13:49.020 ignorance or bigotry or racism that people would oppose a 55-foot Hindu statue in suburban Toronto.
