00:00:40.900 the biggest stories of the 2020s so far has been the rise of the woke mob. Their insistence that
00:00:45.360 everything about the West, everything about Canada, can be boiled down to a few neo-Marxist buzzwords.

00:00:56.000 Now, the big surprise about this woke movement, which probably has the support of what, maybe
00:01:00.240 10% of the population, probably a lot less? The big surprise? It's been their success.

00:01:08.100 and schools across Canada to rewrite our entire history, to scrub our public institutions of any

00:01:22.960 Sir John A. MacDonald, anything to do with the royal family, anything to do with the education
00:01:27.220 of native Canadians, like Egerton Ryerson, who devoted his entire life to helping educate poor
00:01:32.020 First Nation children, it all had to go. Their names were webbed off streets, buildings, schools,
00:01:36.400 and in some cases even removed from the history book. And what was it replaced with? Well, sometimes
00:01:40.980 the woke left came up with these bland, meaningless names reminiscent of the USSR or Orwell's novel
00:01:46.680 1984. For instance, Ryerson High School in Ontario was renamed Old North Public School. And Ryerson
00:01:53.640 University in Toronto, of course, was renamed Toronto Metropolitan University. Not surprisingly,
00:01:58.520 Justin Trudeau's legacy media in Canada has been cheering this all on. They've been telling us how
00:02:02.300 progressive and how liberal it is to erase one's own history, to stop educating new generations of
00:02:07.800 Canadians, and to stop telling the stories of how Canada actually became one of the most free,
00:02:12.120 peaceful, and prosperous societies in all of human history. Let's just erase our history and see what
00:02:17.580 happens, what could possibly go wrong. So sometimes these new names are bland and meaningless. Other
00:02:22.100 times to replace the history of the French, British, and Scottish explorers, the people who built Canada,
00:02:27.220 you know, the country that we live in, with the imagined forefathers of Canada, the First Nations
00:02:31.540 leaders who themselves had no part in the founding of Canada as a country or the establishments of the
00:02:37.260 institutions thereof. We're told that these are the real heroes and the real creators of Canada.
00:02:42.160 And with the facts, or the history, in New Canada, French and English Canadians are bad, no matter what,
00:02:47.300 and any other culture, literally any other culture, any other practice, no matter how barbaric,
00:02:52.040 or sadistic, or un-Canadian, any other practice, any other culture, is celebrated, promoted, and will
00:02:57.260 replace whatever we had before. So the latest example of this, and may I say the most absurd thing that I have
00:03:03.040 seen long time in Canadian politics, just happened last week in Toronto. Thursday, December 14th,
00:03:08.820 Socialist Mayor Olivia Chow and all of city council, they all voted unanimously to rename the city's
00:03:15.220 iconic Dundas Square. What will the new name be? Well, they decided it will be called Sankofa Square.
00:03:21.000 Dundas had to go, according to the Marxists who think they run the city of Toronto, because of his
00:03:24.880 namesake, Henry Dundas, and his alleged connections to slavery. So was Dundas a slave trader? Did he own
00:03:31.260 slaves? Did he create slavery, as many on the left would have he believe? No, quite the opposite,
00:03:36.260 actually. Henry Dundas was an abolitionist. He fought for the emancipation of slaves. He sponsored
00:03:40.480 many bills to end slavery, including a bill to end hereditary slave ownership, and he helped convince
00:03:45.160 the British to wage a war that would eventually lead to the end of the transatlantic slave trade.
00:03:50.760 But according to the woke academics, because he advocated for a gradual change instead of an
00:03:55.160 overnight revolution, I guess that was evil, so there you have it. Dundas had to go. So what about this
00:04:00.920 new name, Sankofa? Where did it come from and what does it mean? Is it named after a brave native
00:04:05.820 warrior of First Nations tribe in Canada? Does it have any significant meaning to this land or to
00:04:11.560 Canada? No, absolutely not. It has absolutely nothing to do with Canada, nothing to do with our
00:04:17.520 country, and nothing to do with our history. The new name, Sankofa, comes from an African tribe called
00:04:22.820 the Akan tribe, and it means something like to go back and get it. Okay, so the name was apparently in
00:04:27.660 an effort to make black Canadians feel more at home or empowered or something. Let me just quickly
00:04:32.320 point out, I pointed this out on the program before, but the vast, overwhelming majority, more than 90%
00:04:37.460 of black people in Canada are themselves first-generation or second-generation Canadians, meaning that they
00:04:42.800 either emigrated themselves or their parents did this according to Statistics Canada. 92% of black
00:04:48.780 people in Canada chose Canada or their parents chose Canada. So if Canada were truly a racist, white
00:04:54.320 supremacist, slavery-endorsing country, simple question, why did they all choose to come here?
00:04:59.680 Why did they choose this country? Why are they in Canada? It's almost as if the leftist narrative
00:05:04.040 about Canada makes absolutely no sense at all. Well, this is where things get interesting, because
00:05:08.820 as it turns out, the new woke name, which comes from that African tribe, may not be so innocent.
00:05:14.440 I really wonder, did city council bother googling this tribe before the vote? Did anyone do any research
00:05:19.580 about the tribe? Because they probably should have. As Twitter journalist and editor Andrew Lawton reports,
00:05:24.560 according to renowned Ghanaian historian Ivor Wilkes, the Akan tribe were slave owners and slave
00:05:30.780 traders. Yes, you heard that correctly. They had their hand in creating the transatlantic slave trade,
00:05:35.180 believe it or not. According to Wilkes, the Akan exchanged their gold for these slaves, who rewarded
00:05:40.600 their Akan masters by creating an agricultural revolution during the 15th and 16th century.
00:05:45.180 Yes, the Akan people imported slaves to help clear their forests, where they searched for gold. But
00:05:50.740 they also sold slaves to Europeans, fueling the transatlantic slave trade. They were the ones hosting
00:05:56.340 those slave auctions. They were selling their people to the Europeans. Unbelievable. In 2006,
00:06:02.020 Ghana acknowledged this dark chapter in their history, and they apologized to the descendants of
00:06:06.920 slaves for their role in the slave trade. Yes, the Akan people were some of the original slave traders.
00:06:13.340 And yet, the name apparently will now be forever engraved in the city of Toronto as the new name of
00:06:19.000 Dundas Square. Canada is a country led by people who hate us. They hate our values, they hate our culture,
00:06:24.680 and mostly, honestly, they hate our skin color. They'll stop at nothing to erase our history and tear apart
00:06:29.280 our civilization. Now, keep this in mind. It is against this anti-Canadian backdrop, many other stories
00:06:34.460 just like this, that we learned about a new statue being erected up the road in Branton, Ontario, some 20 miles
00:06:40.180 away from Dundas Square. What kind of statue, may I ask? Well, this is a 55-foot statue of a Hindu god.
00:06:46.840 Here is what the statue looked like. As True Norse Harrison Faulkner points out, he writes,
00:06:51.260 Canada in 2023, Toronto, Sir John A. Macdonald's statue at Queen's Park in a wooden box for over
00:06:56.120 two years. Brampton, a brand new 55-foot-tall statue of Hanuman, the Hindu monkey commander of the
00:07:02.840 monkey army. Now, I don't think Harrison is blaming the Hindu temple in Brampton for the removal
00:07:08.100 of the Sir John A. statues across Canada, but he's just pointing out that these two things are
00:07:12.580 happening simultaneously in our culture. This is a zeitgeist of our country. We hate our own.
00:07:17.900 We celebrate everyone else. So, is Harrison being a little disrespectful to our Hindu friends? Maybe
00:07:22.760 a little. He sent me this description explaining his source for why he called Hanuman a monkey
00:07:27.800 commander. It comes from none other than the editors of the Encyclopedia Britannica. This is a
00:07:32.960 description of Hanuman. It says, Hanuman, in Hindu mythology, is the monkey commander of the monkey army.
00:07:38.100 His exploits are narrated in the great Hindu Sanskrit poem, Rama's Journey. So, he didn't
00:07:43.960 just make it up. He has a source. If you don't like his language, take it up with the Encyclopedia
00:07:48.380 Britannica. But also in Canada, you're allowed to be disrespectful. You're even allowed to be
00:07:52.940 disrespectful towards others' religions. Religious freedom includes the right to criticize and to mock
00:07:58.620 religion. Just ask the creators of Sweet Jesus Ice Cream, an ice cream brand in Canada, or the artist
00:08:04.180 who created the controversial Piss Christ, which was a small statue of Jesus Christ inside a vial of the
00:08:11.580 artist's own pee. Or, hey, even ask our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who alongside his Marxist
00:08:17.020 brother, Sasha Trudeau, wore these incredibly ugly and incredibly disrespectful Christmas sweaters.
00:08:22.720 You can see the sweaters depict Christ and his disciples during the Last Supper, but their heads have
00:08:27.800 been replaced by silly little emojis and Lego characters. So, in Canada, you are allowed to mock religion,
00:08:33.380 no matter how offensive, no matter how rude it may be to some. It certainly isn't against the law,
00:08:37.880 and it certainly isn't racist to do so. Now, as far as the statue is concerned, look, I'm all for
00:08:42.380 religious freedom. I think it's wonderful that Canada allows religious freedom, allows for people
00:08:46.500 to pray in any way they want. Truly, our fundamental freedoms are one of our country's greatest virtues.
00:08:51.920 Secondly, Hindus are model immigrants. They're some of the best. I respect them, and I have no problem
00:08:56.120 with practicing their religion. In Canada, once again, I truly think it is great. But, on a visceral level,
00:09:02.000 I understand why many Canadians are unhappy with this statue and this development. It is against
00:09:07.720 the backdrop of our own culture being mocked and destroyed, our own history being erased,
00:09:12.460 and our statues being toppled. Now, like I said, this was a big issue online. A lot of Canadians had
00:09:17.180 the same sort of visceral reaction to seeing this large statue being erected in a suburb of Toronto.
00:09:23.320 Some libertarians jumped in on the liberal side of the argument, and they jumped in with the whole
00:09:28.060 private property argument, as if that's the standard in Canada, that on your own private property,
00:09:33.280 you can do whatever you want. Believe me, that is simply not the case. That's not the standard in
00:09:37.620 Canada. I'll give you a personal example. My family and I are looking to buy an acreage in suburban
00:09:42.840 Toronto, just outside the city. And we looked at a property, we found a property we really liked,
00:09:48.520 and when we were going to put together an offer to buy it, we found out that it was in something
00:09:52.500 called the Oak Ridge's Moraine, which is a protected area where, I kid you not, the government will not
00:09:58.740 allow you to tear down a single tree. They won't allow you to so much as build a shed on your property,
00:10:04.840 let alone do any kind of renovation or rebuild or extension on the existing home. Even if you own
00:10:10.360 100 acres, it doesn't matter. The government will tell you that you're not allowed to build on your
00:10:15.320 own private property. I can show you emails from my realtor and from my real estate lawyer who
00:10:19.180 specializes in this area of law. And they both told me, unfortunately, that you do not have the
00:10:24.740 right to build whatever you want, even on private property in Canada. We know there are bylaws and
00:10:30.540 restrictions on buildings all over Canada. So it really is not just a matter of do whatever you
00:10:34.960 want on private property. Here's a couple of libertarians online making this argument. Anthony
00:10:38.820 Koch saying, privately funded, situated on private property, nothing wrong with this. And the
00:10:44.960 club reporter is a guy I actually have a great deal of respect for. He said, agree, bro. We ain't
00:10:49.960 paying for it. Who gives an F? Well, libertarians, let me tell you why some Canadians do give an F.
00:10:56.040 There is a deeper moral and psychological issue here that some are trying to gloss over. Canada is a
00:11:02.160 country, at present, that tears down its own statues from Sir John A to Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth,
00:11:07.780 Eckersen Ryerson, and Henry Dundas. Canada is a country where 83 churches were desecrated or burnt to the
00:11:13.660 ground in the summer of 2021. And our elites barely noticed it, barely batted an eye. Our government
00:11:18.500 tells us that Christmas is contemptible. And that saying Merry Christmas is a form of religious
00:11:23.060 intolerance and bigotry. We saw Santa Claus inside a mall just north of Toronto being protested by
00:11:29.480 Hamas supporters. And we saw Hamas supporters in downtown Toronto telling Christmas shoppers to go
00:11:35.060 F themselves and uttering violent threats. Our government recently rejected the idea of December
00:11:39.940 being named Christian Heritage Month. After all, Canada was founded by religious Christians
00:11:44.200 in pursuit of religious liberty and based fundamentally on Christian values and ideals.
00:11:49.340 Shouldn't we maybe teach the next generation about those values and how they helped create our
00:11:53.880 country? Well, no way bigot. Talking about Christianity is wrong. That's what we're told.
00:11:58.660 Meanwhile, Canada happily celebrates the following holidays and months. This is coming from the
00:12:03.500 government of Canada's website from the Department of Heritage, Important and Commemorative Days.
00:12:08.100 So January is Tamil Heritage Month. January also includes the World Day for African and Afro-descendant
00:12:14.680 cultures and the National Day of Remembrance and Action Against Islamophobia. February is Black History
00:12:20.840 Month. March is Irish History Month and includes the Day to Combat Islamophobia, International Day for the
00:12:27.180 Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and International Transgender Day of Visibility. April is Sikh Heritage Month
00:12:34.380 as well as Genocide Prevention Month and includes the International Day of Pink. May is Asian Heritage
00:12:40.760 Month and Canadian Jewish Heritage Month. June is National Indigenous Heritage Month, Italian Heritage Month,
00:12:47.520 Filipino Heritage Month, Portuguese Heritage Month, and it's the launch of Pride season. Pride is no longer
00:12:53.440 just a month. It's an entire season. June also includes National Indigenous Peoples Day and Canadian
00:12:59.380 Multiculturalism Day. July we get one day for Canada Day. Way to go. August is Emancipation Day
00:13:05.960 and Public Service Pride Week. September includes Mennonite Heritage Week, Gender Equality Week, and of
00:13:12.340 course the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. October is German Heritage Month, Comedian Islamic
00:13:17.920 Heritage Month, Latin American Heritage Month, and Women's History Month. November is Hindu Heritage Month,
00:13:24.200 and it includes National Transgender Day of Remembrance. Canada History Week. We get one week in the middle
00:13:29.840 of November there, and it's wrapped up by 16 days of activism against gender violence. December, well,
00:13:37.120 heaven forbid that December become Christian Heritage Month. We literally celebrate everyone else and
00:13:43.120 everything else, but heaven forbid we create something to celebrate our own history. So no, it's not out of
00:13:49.020 ignorance or bigotry or racism that people would oppose a 55-foot Hindu statue in suburban Toronto.
00:13:54.320 It's because we're sick and tired of everyone else's culture being prioritized, being honored, being
00:13:58.420 revered, and being celebrated, while our own culture, Canada's core and dominant culture, the culture that
00:14:03.060 founded this great country and allowed everyone else to come in and enjoy, well, that culture is
00:14:07.900 constantly and repeatedly demonized, degraded, and destroyed. Canadian pluralism only works when newcomers are
00:14:14.180 welcome and encouraged to integrate, to respect Canada, to adopt our values, and recognize that there
00:14:19.240 is a dominant culture. Subcultures are fine and good, but they're just that, subcultures. Under Trudeau
00:14:24.440 and the failed cult of multiculturalism, newcomers are never told that. Instead, they're told that it is
00:14:28.820 their job to dominate us. They're here to culture us, to show us their ways, to replace our traditions and
00:14:34.220 institutions with their own. They're told that they have superior education, so they'll dominate our schools
00:14:38.840 and our job markets. Different rules apply to them. They're not held to the same standard as other Canadians.
00:14:43.540 In fact, they're prioritized for scholarships, for opportunities, and for jobs. Their statues are
00:14:48.620 approved while ours are turned down. Well, I have news for the multiculturalists and the elites who
00:14:53.540 are trying to socially engineer Canada. We Canadians have finally had enough. We don't like this ideology.
00:14:59.840 Neither do many new Canadians, the ones who are grateful to be here, who appreciate Canada for
00:15:04.280 what it is, or at least what it was until fairly recently. The reason there's been intense backlash
00:15:09.080 online over these two issues, the renaming of Dundas Square and the giant Hindu statue in Brampton,
00:15:14.660 is because Canadians are finally waking up to the agenda of the woke left. We don't like it,
